Good question.
SDK = System Development Kit
This are the tools to build the ROM now you have to wait for the "chefs" to start cooking...since many things are device specific i dont know how long will take to have a stable rom, probablly when HTC Stable 2.1 rom is leaked.
You want to install the development kit (for writing Android apps on the computer) on your phone?
The Android 2.1 SDK is now online and available. Have at it Devs

now all the gaps will be filled. chefs will take the missing parts will integrate in their roms to make their roms perfect. so you need to wait for some time as chefs need free time to develop roms. so just be a little be patient and give our awesome devs some time.

Maybe HTC also have been waiting for this? And that's why it is taking so long time?
But not that it matters. The way KaguDroid is developing I doubt I will ever go back to something Sense-based. Tried the hybrid Espresso ROM all of yesterday and totally missed KaguDroid.
BTW; I find it really weird that I am not experiencing any of the problems others are with KaguDroid.
I totally agree with you raskall!
Since we will have social network in the next version + live wallpapers + bluetooth, i won't miss sense
( ha yes.. the smartdialing! it's so long to choose contacts when u are used to write the first letters...)

No - the SDK contains the tools and libraries to build applications for Android 2.1. It is AOSP that is required to build the OS.

Dave

No Answer?
To test for what exactly?
Personally. I use some well known apps from the Marketplace (Linpack and Quadrant) for running ROM benchmark tests.

AFAIK, there is no VM software for android.... hence u cant test ur ROM virtually without installing it onto ur phone & test it by urself....
its a good idea if any mod/dev takes real interest in it & develop one for u.... its beneficial for all of us... but ATM, they r busy in the process of cooking a perfect custom ROMs for our desire... hope u can wait till then....

Incorrect - there is an Android mobile device emulator as part of the Android SDK.
However, I don't believe you can just "install" a Desire custom ROM into the emulator because of differences between the real hardware and the virtual hardware in the emulator.
Regards,
Dave
I got the ADP1 ROM (1.6 with root + Marketplace) running on the emulator. If you like i can upload it. I also tried to run a 2.2 rom for the Desire but it didn't work.
thanks all.

WOW ! Is great to hear that someone working hard for GSM Android NAND
Means NAND that the device boot directly in Android on the SD-Card and not in WinMob or means it that Android replaces WinMob on the ROM?

That's what I wanted to hear.
If it'll work fine I'll donate some to the dev.
Guys, wouldn't it be respectful to link to tiad8's page instead of just straight to the files? He might not take offense but it just seems like good manners... He has put up a new website. Please be a good citizen and go there too and register instead of just throwing his stuff all over the place.
On a side note, the thing that is exactly the same between the tiad8 builds and other builds is that whatever the dev/builder/chef says is ready is what is ready.
So if you read the info file... There's not a word about Blackstone yet, a lot of stuff-available-in-other-builds is still missing. So once again patience is virtue, and if i have any idea about the guy it's that he's losing sleep trying to get all this stuff working as soon as humanly possible.
agreed, i do respect what he has contribute for us bringing good working ROM and NAND for in time to come and he wanted to share and treat every dev, tester and those who contribute and involved of porting ROMs as a family. this is his interest

Cool. If you're interested, you could use this as a project to learn development yourself
I actually don't know where to start with a sense ROM. I can compile AOSP from source, but not sure how you get the proprietory files into a sense ROM and get it compatible.
I couldn't even if I wanted to.
Thunderbold = CDMA!?
So i think its really comlicated to port this to an GSM device!?

Well you could use dsixda porting tools to extract the kernel etc from a base rom. This may do the whole job or perhaps part of it.
And there is always CDMA Desire.

We need to wait for the official Android L on our devices, if there will be one. Most probably not. The closer we can go is a ROM, but it's not worth it.

We need Google to publish (merge) their source code (AOSP, base of the ROM, human language for the ROM's computer code) to be able to easily modify it to suit our device's needs (drivers etc.)
