Chrome Unusable on Jelly bean and KitKat - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Some versions here, I can not use Chrome on Galaxy Nexus. Even with only one tab open, it crashes the phone. Using the standard android browser everything flows smoothly. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? For other phones with similar hardware, I do not see it happen. I searched but found few people talking about it.
I am using the Stock rom 4.3 Jelly bean, but even with custom roms KitKat is the same thing.

Chrome for Android is a resource eater. I have been using it since a month, and today I have used stock android browser, and it feels much more responsive and smooth

One of the reasons I use Firefox on my maguro. Though Chrome works fine on my Moto G (2nd Gen).

[Q] Chrome v. Stock Browser

Can someone explain to me why Chrome stutters on scrolling compared to the stock browser? Is it because the stock browser is optimized for the phone? I would contend though that Google would be testing Chrome on their own devices and would optimize it as such, ideas?
Bumping for a response.

I actually use both, but I will not be able to give you a technical reasoning here so bear with me. The stock browser to me has always been a chrome "similar" just reduced and optimized for mobile. But using Chrome there are differences and that being the reason I use both. I sure do love the quick thumb controls in the stock browser. I know I didnt answer your question, but I believe you are right in the fact that the stutter comes from it not being baked in.
Chrome on Android is still not there IMO, a running beta at best, sucks too much battery.

There's nothing to "explain". There's a lot more going on in Chrome so it needs more resources. I'm not sure what's unclear about that.
What does chrome offer over the stock browser? I've never felt the need to try another.
Bookmarks/tabs sync from desktop Chrome and other devices. Probably more but that's why I use it.
Chrome has been updated recently and it feels smoother, almost closes the gap between chrome and stock

Dashclock works with Android versions 4.2 and up. I am contemplating rooting and flashing CM10.1 to get it. But the quality in Stock is overwhelming...Tough Choice.

yeah. just noticed it was 4.2 and up. guess I'm goin back to liquid smooth. just battery on tw roms is so much better. but thats a different story
Dashclock is one of the greatest tools ever created. Used it on my Nexus S 4.2.2 before getting my GN2. I miss dashclock greatly.
The current CM10.1 nightlies for the GN2 are pretty darn stable, I tested it already. If you can live without the samsung apps, go for it.
S pen eject to launch notepad apps made me come back to a TW ROM. And HDMI MHL support. The S Pen still works fine for drawing and writing in CM10.1 though.

extremely slow phone whenever using Google Search & Chrome

.. my phone every once in a while running _EXTREMELY_ slow (( especially when I use "Google Search" & "Google Chrome"
What can I do to figure out why and hopefully resolve it (if it's possible)
I just went to Settings->Apps->Running and it says I have 145MB free
I'm using Samsung Galaxy Nexus (tuna) on Verizon Wireless (toro) w/ stock Google Jell Bean (4.2.2).
chrome is a bit slow on almost all devices, this is known.
what rom/kernel are you running?
Google Chrome has always run slow for me, as far as Google Now, it's been running slow as well since the last big update they released.

Chrome is terrible, Id just stick with Stock if I was you. Maybe try clearing all app data for Google Now and starting again
Yeah Chromes a HUGE memory hog.. The stock browsers my fav but i always use nova launcher to change the icon to the chrome one because it looks alot better xD

[Q] Side by Side Apps

Hey XDA community,
I'm fairly new here and I recently got a Nexus 7 2013.
I'm going to school right now for application development and one thing I like to do is have a text editor
(Webmaster's HTML editor) and my textbook (kindle app) both open side by side. I only know how to do this
on my gs3 and I sort of got a Nexus 7 so I could do stuff like this with a bigger screen. What I'm wondering is if
there's anyway I can get the side by side apps with my Nexus 7 2013 (wifi model) or is this a Samsung/Touchwiz specific feature?
I'm currently rooted, running a stock rom with ElementalX kernel. Thanks in advance, Bear
I have also tried searching the forums as well as Google but no luck.

It's a TW feature, not available on stock aosp if I am not wrong.

Not available on stock AOSP right now. BUT Rockchip (chip maker of those Android sticks) DOES have this on stock Android. I'm not sure why anyone doesn't port it over to other devices or what the hold up is. If it was easy, I'm sure we'd have it by now.
The LG G2 also has this functionality... so it isn't just limited to TW.
So keep your fingers crossed. Maybe once the Nexus 5 comes out, they can backport the SbyS App support to AOSP.
I too am very interested in this.....I want multi window or something of that nature on both my N7 models but its sucks I can only use it with my S3 and S4 not fair and honestly android should have gotten this by now but hey....good things come to those who wait right.
Like the others have said, this isn't possible on the N7 right now, however until it happens, there are many "floating" apps available on the play store for text editors and web browsers if you're desperate.

Best browser

Hi, which browser would you suggest me for my hox?
With aosp roms almost every browser is very laggy (the best one i tryed at the moment is opera browser). It's strange because many of them work quite smooth on other phones (for example maxthon is quite slow on my one x, while is very smooth on my friend's s2 or lg optimus 4x)

Opera mini works flawless on aosp rom for me... try dolphin or boat browser.. they are good too...
Thank you, i'll download them.
Today a tried the last version of chrome beta and it got a lot better than the last time i tested it
I'd like to go out on a limb and recommend trying Floating Browser COBRA. It's a floating browser that allows you to multitask, much like Samsung Popup Browser, except much more features. See my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...te-browser-t2714879/post51875854#post51875854
Post me back on how well it works, as I'm thinking about getting a One X as a secondary...thanks

edit: it's not bad, but surely not nearly as smooth as chrome, opera and others. It's quite slow in rendering and scrolling
