Hi,
i wan't to know if you may know why there are only few dev or kernel/roms for the LG G3 even if from what i've noticed the G3 is very popular?
P.S. I've seesn right now that the bootloader is locked, i don't know what does it mean exacltly but it seems to stop dev's, but aren't out there unoffical bootloader unlocking methods?
Unfortunately, LG didn't provided any official method to unlock bootloader. Developers are spending dozens of hours every day to find a bug and unlock bootloader using it. If you have locked bootloader then you cant flash any custom ROM like CM11 etc.

I hate LG for making such a perfect device that you even not hack, they're cruel, and maybe masochists because the avalibility of custom roms and customization of a device is one of the android's best features, so if the device would be unlocked it will increase their sales.

From what i understand, the g3's bootloader is locked. what does locked bootloader mean for custom roms? does that mean it won't get original roms like paranoid, cyanogenmod, etc..?

Basically, yes. But LG has promised to unlock our bootloader somewhere in the future so we will eventually get some custom ROMs

LG in reality has no intention of doing that. It's not worth the hassle especially when carriers would largely not allow it anyway.
But the bootloader will likely be unlocked in the next couple of weeks or so, by private devs.

Hi guys i have few questions regarding the lg g4 hope u can help
1. How is the bootloader system and how it works in comparision to htc's s-off and s-on cause with htc's if you got some hardware problems u just go stock and s-on voila valid warranty.
2. How broad is the developer base and interest in lg devices as comapred to htc and samsung devices.
3. How broad is the scope for developer support for dual sim g4 variant as this is the one being launched in India (kind of hoping that they will launch the international variant.)
4. Now i know that there are various guides for root and flashing and everything but i just gotta ask this is there some software to be used like samsung's odin
for flashing or is it direct like htc just use cmd.
5. One last question im stuck between note 4 and lg g4 and i am not able to make up my mind between these two so hoping that members with can help me this.
I have used samsung and htc but i have no idea regarding lg never used one so please bear with me.

The bootloader is currently locked and cannot be unlocked. It will take a developer to try and find an exploit to be able to unlock it. With the G3, this took around 6 months. If and when it is unlocked there should be good developer support. There is currently no root methods for the G4,it can't be rooted at the moment.

you can today unlock the bootloader of the H815 G4 ( european version ) on LG's website. check it out.
for now no custom recoveries or rom's are available , it's useless.
i hope that phone will get some good dev
EDIT : LOOK HERE
*apologies for any obvious information I may have missed*
I have a Moto Z Play that has a locked bootloader. I've searched through a lot of these forums, went to other sites, and I've still not found the information I probably should have by now. I want to put the Resurrection Remix Rom on my phone, but I'm confused on a few different points. The phone was given to me and it looks like it was Verizon before I got it, and I use Straight talk as a carrier. I've seen the unlock process on Motorola's page, and it says my bootloader is not eligible for unlock. With the capabilities of a lot of these developers, I find it hard to believe this means the end of the road. My question is whether I can wipe the phone and somehow unlock the bootloader? Is there anyway I can speak to verizon to give me something to get an unlock code from Motorola? Can I put Resurrection on my phone without the bootloader being unlocked? Again, i've been reading and trying to figure this out on my own without having to make a thread, so sorry if this wastes anybody's time, but I could really use some help.
Thank you very much in advance.
If your phone is contracted with Verizon .... They they will not allow you to unlock the bootloader
To install custom ROM , you must have custom recovery ( may be twrp)
To be able to install custom recovery, you must unlock your boot loader
So both is not possible right now if your phone is from Verizon
So you can not install custom ROMs
Keep eyes on the MZP thread for solutions
Hope this helps
Is this phone impossible to root or is there just a lack of interest in figuring out a way to unlock the bootloader? I love this phone but really miss the freedom I had on previous devices to install certain apps and run different roms. I've never had a device that has been out this long without a root available.
I guess what I'm asking is if I should consider going to a different device if there isn't a way to unlock the bootloader in sight or stick it out because it'll happen in the near future.

So far, no way to root it yet, I am stuck on the Sprint G7 myself and currently fighting with Sprint to allow me to swap to another device. I know it wont work but at least I am voicing my dissatisfaction of this device with the lack of timely updates (still on November security). If I had known now when I went to Sprint back then, I would have never chosen the LG G7. The phone itself is decent, hardware is good but lack of root, lack of bootloader unlock, and lack of timely updates make the device unusable in my opinion.
I personally am hoping I or someone else can find an exploit for ROOT and eventually bootloader but so far, not much traction has been made in that department.
I have a g710pm, running Android 8.0.0
I see in developer options there is a selection that says, "Enable OEM Unlock" wouldn't that unlock the bootloader?

Nope it will not limited fast boot won't let you run the command its basically useless
You can take a look at my post, there are all the models in my country to unlock BL and ROOT, but only in the hands of a few people, they do not intend to share this, and through this to get benefits, they provide remote unlocking and ROOT services , but need to pay, which is expensive for me, I don't know English, sorry, the reply is translated by Google...
Hey everyone! As I had said earlier, the rumors are true, most G7 variants can be bootloader unlocked. I searched many Chinese websites that had already shown rooted G7 phones but showed no clear methods besides "remote unlock services". Now the method is known! The engineering bootloader from a very unique AT&T V35 V35AWM model (abl_a and abl_b) is flashed via an Octoplus box on the G7 when in QDLoader 9008 mode. This guy from Ukraine motogvasyag posted his methods on 4pda.ru and are now on XDA here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/how-to/to-unlock-bootloader-root-models-t3928505
Please check out the thread, and do donate if you can. He is doing these Octoplus flashes for free.
**This method won't work on T-Mobile model (G710TM and others). I'll still be on the lookout for any T-Mobile methods.**
Hello
I was wondering if LG allows you to unlock bootloader, install custom ROM on the G8S?
I have owned a G6 from a few years ago and remember they allowed bootloader unlock on certain variants of the G6 but for some reason not on another.
Thank you.
No is not possible yet and if LG unlocks the bootloader nobody knows.
I'm thinking if I should sell mine again at christmas without free bootloader it makes no sense the mobile phone
