Can you do me a favor please ?
Mainly those of you on LG G3 - D855, can you please perform following ?
go to Settings --> Tethering & Networks --> Mobile Networks
remember current mode and select as Network mode : GSM only
check that "Use only 2G networks" is checked
wait 5 seconds and make a test call
listen to the attached audio View attachment noise_buzzing_G3_LG855.wma, whether you can hear similar buzzing / interference sound or not (ignore the white noise from the recording, it's simply just amplified during recording)
vote please
change back the settings as in step 2.
Use phone ear piece, NOT a bluetooth or audio headset nor loudspeaker.
Please discuss what do you think this could be, what could be causing this. I'm getting this when I'm on GSM / 2G (Edge icon as data) and it's extremely annoying.
Mainly apparent when no UMTS network is available (3G -> LTE) or inside the buildings.
Thank you.
* update 28.10.2014 * As pointed out by @manaxda, you may want to try following to reproduce similar problem. Use WIRED headset, call someone WHILE USB CHARGER is connected. The apposite side will hear background noise / buzzing sound.
note : seems more people have this problem, but I would like to know how big this problem really is - eg. http://forums.androidcentral.com/ask-question/415079-lg-g3-phone-call-buzzing-isue.html, https://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/2bay4s/headphone_audio_issueinterference/, http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/poor-call-quality-distortion-noise-t2808530, http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...83-hissing-buzzing-sound-when-data-calls.html
Still the same on latest V10L...
I do have LG G3 D855 and gsm call has buzz noise. Compared to my ex huawei ascend p1 and honor 3c it is very noticeable and some times annoying. Very bad for such a hi price tag phone.
I had this problem when my phone was new but after a few calls it went away...
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app
Can you confirm that please even with that settings I posted ?
It important to force GSM/2G network, without it it is just "a feeling"and you never know in which mode phone is connected.
Luckily/unluckily I'm in the location where I got full signal, but GSM/2G only.
Thank you.
All my previous phones were much better - starting even with I9000, I9300 and LG G2... none of them were facing such stupid side-effect.
D855P. No problems
Vivo 900MHz GSM, no inductive forces nearby
Also, don't expect this to be fixed in a software update. It might have to do with electromagnetic interference, which may be from your phone, the place you live or where you're standing. For example, when I use the stairs in my house, I go near the electric fence central, which electrifies the fence discharging high voltage in bursts. If I'm on the phone the moment I go down or upstairs, I can hear a rapid "click-click-click-click" on the phone, that intensifies the closer I am to the central. It happens with every single phone I've ever owned, and even AM/FM portable radios near to it. And specially in guitar amplificators, which seems to be extremely sensible to those variations (It can't be near the central, nor near the electric fence). Another good example is when you leave your phone near an unshielded speaker, and you can hear the "buzz code" your phone receives just before a call.
Well, anyway, you might have something that's affecting your call quality. Does it happen everywhere?
The G3 may be more susceptible to this, or the fact that its earpiece is so loud, it allows you to hear the buzz lol.
Yes, for me it happens everywhere (eg. a per-requisite to CONFIRM it is to choose GSM network as advised). Except of that, also where I do have standard GSM network, I can hear this buzzing as well. Also I do have it confirmed on other pieces of G3.
For all the others, please whenever you are voting in a poll, be sure you really manually switched the network please.
Voted.
D855 and i can hear some buzzing during a call if i'm under the 2g network.
I finally found someone with the same problem! I had been looking for folks who had that problem and were able to solve it but all I found was issues with AUX cable problems and hissing noise. Note that if you use a wired headset even in 2G GSM area, there won't be any noise, it's only through the phone speaker.
This is utterly frustrating, I have all these 3 problems, plus a fourth - below. The G3 is a fantastic mini tablet but a very poor phone IMHO.
shaarky, could you make a test, call someone or leave yourself a voicemail while using a wired headset with USB power on and then without USB connected. I bet that the receiving party (your voicemail) will have lots of background noise when USB is connected.
The workaround I found is to buy a wireless charger and a bluetooth dongle for my desktop PC.
what the hell.... you are right @manaxda ! I wasn't even aware that there is also this issue.
When using wired headset and charging via USB, the opposite side hear terrible background noise/buzzing.
Now question is whether it's connected with the issue I'm describing....
LG should NOT sell such device which is even not able to perform clear call using some basics GSM standards....
I think the issues are not related, though both are poor electromagnetic interference shielding
- from the phone radio into the phone speaker in one case (like when you place a cell phone close to a powered speaker)
- from the USB transceiver / power supply into the wired headset microphone in the other case (the headset MIC gets USB noise and sends it to the other party, the cell phone microphone does not have this problem)
In all situations it is bad engineering design and I suspect it doesn't have a SW fix... I'm no expert but usually there are HW measures / filters that can be placed on the PCB to filter unwanted noise, sometimes even an actual metal shield/case around components see an example:

Well, I got my phone two times in warranty repair. 1st time they exchanged ear piece, 2nd time whole board... and no change whatsoever. LG support claims that there were just "few" users mentioning this problem, so they don't care about it. If it's by design and I would say it is, than this phone is faulty right from the beginning, LG will however never admit it.
I'm hoping that they fix it in a new release, and slightly before my warranty expires I will try to get a replacement from Orange. It's easy, call support with a headset and USB power, they hear the problem immediately...
It's already my 3rd G3, each time Orange thought a new handset would fix the problem. Now I'm waiting a bit longer to get the 4th one
shaarky, I just double checked today, our conclusions may be wrong, I have the buzzing noise either on 4G or 2G at home. HOWEVER I have that noise only in my neighborhood. If I go elsewhere in town (I guess connected to a different tower) I don't have the noise.
Just to be sure - even when you switch manually to GSM as per my recommendation, you do not have this noise ? That's really odd then.
yes, tried in forced 2G and in 4G, the noise is the same. But if I go to the Orange store a few km away to show them the problem, there's no more noise...
So....no change also on Lollipop. Great.
Have you tried lollipop on the g3? Any other bugs fixed like the aux cable detection?
Same problem on D855 16GB. 2G Only (not tried 4G).
I think that the poorer is the signal (=higher transmission power) the higher is the noise. That can explain no noise in some places also in 2G.
I really don't think a sw solution can solve the problem, but a really simple hw solution could, unless audio amplifier for internal capsule has some sort of software tunable filters...
Yup, happens only in 2G mode..

I'm using the AT&T Galaxy SIII Pebble Blue 16 GB.
I searched high and low for a thread about this issue but I haven't seen one. Hopefully someone will embarrass me and bring one to light!
Maybe its just the make of my car (08 Saab 9-3 but the head unit is pretty standard across a few GM products), but getting car audio (Using Aux in) to work in this car is very flaky and unreliable. If I plug both ends in directly and try to play the "Earphones connected" message never pops up. The moment i remove the cable from the head unit the ear phones connected pops up. Plug it back in to the car, it goes away and still no audio.
The work around is very annoying. I have the unplug it from the car and press play on Spotify, then plug it in hoping that it will work. It does sometimes... but after I get it plugged in if I receive a text or phone call it will immediately cut out the audio from the car and replace it with a periodic crackling sound. My old iPhone, iPod touch, and Galaxy SII do not have this problem. My friends brand new Galaxy SIII is having the exact same issue.
If ANYONE knows of this issue any help you can provide will be much appreciated.

vs
yours=first, mine=second (and my display looks exactly like yours)
But, mine does do one thing that really bothers me... as soon as I plug in the aux cable it automatically starts playing stuff (I think it's whatever the last thing I was playing). I'm not sure if this just happens in my car or in other places too. I just plugged in some headphones at my desk and it didn't do anything so I'm thinking it's the car. I'd ask if you have experienced this too, but it sounds like your problem would supersede mine.
(It also doesn't stop playing when I unplug the cable, which is really annoying, but that one I know is a TouchWiz thing. The problem I explained above I can't tell yet whether it's a TouchWiz "feature" or some sort of weird bug)
You'd be right..
I can "trick" it to work... which involves plugging the jack into the phone pressing play on Spotify then plugging it into the aux in on my car and it will work. Any stop in music playing (Like the end of a playlist) will disconnect it and any text or anything of that nature will too..
Its so annoying...
I have an '07 9-3 and have the same exact issue.Streaming music in my car is one of the main uses of my phone and the fact I cannot is a huge annoyance.
My thought on a way to "fix" this problem was to create a widget (perhaps using something like AnyCut) that switched the phone into earphones mode. The change into earphone mode is obviously normally done by a physical action (plugging something into the jack) but I was hoping there might be a manual way to do it. However my knowledge on the matter is very limited. My phone is rooted and I was searching databases using SQLite Editor for a variable to change to put it in earphones mode but was unable to find one. Does anyone know if this is even a viable way to do it and if so how to implement such an action?
Cheers,
Celtic Browncoat
I also have an 08 saab 9-3 and am having the same problem. It figures that the problem would only exist with a saab
Not sure if everyone has come up with a solution, but in my 2007 9-5, I found that grabbing an inline volume control from Radioshack fixed the issue. I plugged it in on the phone side and everything works as it did with my old Droid X.

Hey! I stumbled across this old post a few days ago, as I was looking for a solution to the exact same issue with my 2010 9-3/Samsung Galaxy S4. The inline volume control cable ($10 from RadioShack) fixed the issue for me as well. Thanks!
Hello everyone,
I have noticed an issue with my s3 and thought I'd ask around. I tried connecting my phone with my cars stereo using an aux cable but every time I do that the sounds comes through the phones speakers. Plugging the cable in and out once gets the sound through the car but it again stops if I change the song or if I receive a notification even.
It doesn't seem to be an isolated instance since i saw another person face the exact same problem on another forum. I'm thinking that maybe my 2 contact aux cables might be to blame here, but really don't wanna buy a third one before getting some input. I also guess it can equally be a software or even a hardware issue.
So has anyone else noticed this?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
i plug in to my car's aux jack all the time while using pandora and have had no problems.
what type of 3.5mm audio jack are you using, the really thick ones, or the thin ones? thick ones cause problems sometimes by not getting full contact(as the base is too big), had this issue with a new car stereo and my old g2.
basically, this is the one that's too thick, especially for aftermarket stereos:

To be honest the ones that i have ( both of them actually) appear to be too thick as compared to the OEM headphone's pin. Was the problem that you were facing similar to the one I am now i.e. sound starts playing sometimes and stops when u change the track ?
I have the same problem. Let me guess... you have to plug it in and out to make a call with earphones too?

Hey Zza1989, thanks for the reply. I havent made that many calls using the earphone, but when i tried it now it seemed to work ok. However the S3 seems to have a tough time detecting my cars stereo when plugged into it.
If you're facing the same issue with the aux, can i please know what car you are using it with. I replied on another forum where someone was facing the same issue and it turned out that we were both using the phones with Saab's. What about you ?

I'm actually using an aftermarket stereo by Sony. But I still get the same problem. I doubt it has anything to do with the car as the sane thing happens to me with my skull candy earphones ad well as my car stereo with aux connection. Only with the stock Samsung earphones provided with the phone does it work properly. And even then it's a little sketchy sometimes.

Ohh... So if you're facing issues with other headphones it might even be a hardware issue I guess. I think I'll send an email to Samsung support team and see if they respond or not :s

that's not the issue i had. the issue i had was that the sound was VERY distorted and low, but trying a smaller cable worked. try a smaller cable. they cost like 99 cents on monoprice, or amazon

Agreed. That's the only semi-major issue I've had with the phone so far. I hate to think what's going to happen when my earphones start to fail (I them extensively). I'll just have to buy new OEM earphones.
I would like to hear what kind of response you get for that email.
I have to admit that over time I've used several mid/low end bluetooth speakers and I ended up giving all of them away as presents to my friends. They were all fantastic accessories for my mobile phone but they were lacking ... something.
We all know there is no such thing as a perfect gadget or device and, if you add the human subjectivity, you end up with an endless quest for a "great device".
All in all, now I'm settled (at least for a while) ...
Basically this is a JAMBOX replica which really delivers, at a fraction of the price of the original.
Here are some photos with the package and its content:

After opening the box I found the actual device and the cables supplied with it.
The speaker itself is plain black and feels soft when touched. The coating, even if it's very nice, it's making the surfaces prone to fingerprints so you may feel "forced" to clean it often .
The controls are somewhat classic ... volume up/down, answer/hang up, prev/next and play/pause functions, all on 3 buttons. The functions are available by short or long pressing the respective market button.
The main power switch as well as the power supply/charge and audio in/out connectors are located on the back of the device, clearly marked and easily accessible.
Now, after all the photos let's talk a little bit about the functionality of the device:
Pairing:
If you have a regular phone (not NFC enabled) then, after switching on the speaker, you can easily find it when searching for bluetooth devices and you can add it. That's all.
If you phone.tablet is NFC enables though, the pairing is as easy as touching it on the NFC sensitive area of the speaker and you're good to go.
Even if the NFC area is not marked on the speaker, it is there, as marked in the picture below:
The blue LED visible in the above picture will flask quickly while the device is in "pairing" state and slowly when in normal functioning mode.
I have to say here (for the picky ones) that the LED is bright so it may be somehow annoying if you look at it in low light (or at night).
After the pairing you can start using it as an external speaker and also as a speakerphone, because it has a microphone and an answer/hang up button.
Voice call quality:
When used for voice calls the voice of your call partner will sound very clear and nice (and I mean VERY CLEAR AND NICE ) but, at least in my case, the other party was hearing me a little too over-processed (probably because of the noise canceling DSP inside) but there were no complaints about not understanding me (the voice was a little metallic/robotic when I was not speaking loud enough to make a good difference from the ambient noise).
Music quality:
This is something highly subjective
If I'm comparing the speaker to my home sound system then ... there is no comparison that can be made. As an old commercial for muscle cars was stating: "there is no replacement for displacement" ... the speakers are small so you can not expect that bass fulfilling sound. Nevertheless, the audio quality is GREAT. If you have the intention to use this little BT speaker when you;re in vacation or when camping then you will have nothing to complain about. The bass is not strong but is there, definitely. The median frequencies are extremely clear, w/o being too saturated, while the highs are just in the right quantity.
I personally listen to Leonard Cohen type of music (involving a lot of vocal play) and the voices are nice, warm and natural, w/o popping out from the speaker.
If you look at a spectral analysis of the output (using any audio analyzer out there, like this one for example), you can see the spectrum being nicely populated (with the obvious lack of bass).
All in all, the music is great and the max volume is still usable w/o too many distortions.
Connectivity:
This a big plus for this little buddy ...
As you can see from the picture with the connectors, you have access to line-in as well as to line-out connectors.
What does this mean?
Line-in - you can use the speaker as a conventional speaker, with the included cable, and you can play music from any player, even if it's not bluetooth capable. Just plug it in and go .... Of course, you will not be able to use any of the call capabilities while in line-in mode.
Line-out - you can use the speaker as a bluetooth interface between your phone/tablet and some high-quality speakers. I plugged it to my home stereo system and the result was extremely nice, with great sound (the EDR enabled Bluetooth standard did its job)
The USB connector is being used for charging the unit using any USB port. I personally use one of the many usb adapters I have lying around the house.
Battery life:
This is subject that I can not clearly review simply because I did not managed to drain the battery yet .
After receiving the unit (2 weeks ago) I plugged it into a power adapter and I left it there until the charging status LED (a tiny RED LED located below the BLUE one) turned off. After that I've used the unit about 1-2 hours every other day and it's not dead yet. I still have to use it in order to see the battery life. Until now though I only can say it has a great autonomy on battery .
Final words:
This is not the first speaker with this form factor and size I've come across but surely is one great gadget for the price.
If you look at the audio quality for this price range then it's a safe buy - one of the safest I come across.
I can only recommend it to anyone who wants a great bluetooth speaker for only ~35 USD.
Here is the link I used (from amazon): http://www.amazon.com/HAVITĀ®-HV-SK4...=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1401162562&sr=1-4
I hope you find this review useful. I don't do reviews usually but this was special and I thought it deserved one.
Guys,
i really do like my G3 and i think some specs/functions are superior to other phones (camera, display), but i was wondering why people are happy and satisfied with the g3 knowing that most devices have the Headphone/Aux Jack Output issue. (i tested 3, all had the issue).
It seems like the G3 can't handle all cables with a 2-line 3,5mm jack. However, 3-line cables work fine (headsets, or a 3-line adapter such as this:
{

So, since this has to be a impendance issue, it is pretty much a hardware thinf and can't be fixed with a software update.
To me, this is a deal-breaker. I don't want to carry the adapter all the time and i don't think i should just accept the fact that a 600dollar flagship phone has such a hardware bug!
Your thoughts?

Happy? Well, in fact im happy with LG G3 but not very much... In fact is a beautiful phone, using v10N and got no issues... I mean, if i dont count with jack issue and instable network reception... Question LG Portugal and they say that never heard that issues and to go to warranty. I would do that but realize that many others users complain about that even after warranty so i'm not the only one. And in my carrier still have v10A and have to flash v10A again, go to warranty and then root and flash N version again (and install all too) and, just other users, keep the jack and network problems... Overall im happy but could be better.
I have never had a problem with the jack, ive used 4-5 pairs of headphones some cheap 3.5 mm aux cables and yesterday i got some Audio Tecnica ATH-M50s, all ove them have worked without any problems at all, not sure if its hardware or software.
This makes me want to cry.........or throw this piece of crap out my window driving 70mph
LG says this is a know bug and to use an audio cable with over 1ohm of resistance...
OK LG, so what your saying is that every time I want to listen to my phone in my, or my friends car, im supposed to say, hey buddy, can I listen to my phone? All i need to do is just pull your dash apart, pull your stereo out and plug this BULL**** aux cable in...
NO.
Every few weeks i post a hatefull message on lg facebook wall, im loading lg live chat right now. I cannot believe this is still an issue. WHen i bought this phone i found out the issue but was not to alarmed as the phone had just been released and i figured in a few weeks this would be fixed. Now a half year later and we are still putting up with this ****.
I also regret buying this thing after knowing that it has this hardware bug. But I can't do anything about that. For now, I'm using SoundAbout app and set it to "Headphone" since I almost never listen music using the phone's speaker.
Live chat was just another big waste of time. Explained the issue, said they have 1 year warranty, said they can take the phone, diagnose and repair, I said i wasnt going to send my phone in for 2 weeks for them to not resolve the issue. He said it may take some time to figure out this bug, bla bla bla. What a joke.
My girlfriend doesn't have this problem on her phone and it's only sporadic with mine. Thought maybe it had to due with the cracks that form naturally.

Same here. Working fine on all my headphones, 3 different 3.5mm jacks in 2 cars and work truck.
The only issue I do have is when making a call for the first time after connection, the other party can not hear me.
Simple fix to this was to connect phone to 3.5mm jack, make the call and whilst waiting for answer, press loudspeaker button on then off. Then calls are crystal clear both ends until phone is disconnected from jack.
This leads me to believe that my issue is at least software related.
Out of my last 4 phones - gs3, HTC one and Xperia z, I have to say the g3 sounds the best of all, stock for stock.

I have the same problem with my shure inears and with my sony headphones.
I think the best solution would be if you could manually choose what device you plugged in.
It would work similar to the choose an app to open something dialog and would open everytime you plug something in, then you could choose between headphones, headset and aux.
I know this is an old post but what issue is everyone talking about? I plug my phone into 2 different vehicles and 3 different speaker systems all through the 3.5mm jack in my home daily. I have yet to have any issue when doing this and have been with the G3 since Oct 2014
It was a software issue and has since been fixed. You could plug a cord into your phone and it would keep playing through the phones speaker. it was the most aggrivating thing ever.
If you don't mind...could you direct me to a thread or post that mentions this software fix? My D851 T-Mobile variant still has this issue.
When you call granny, does she keep saying "Huh?! Wut?!" or does the conversation flow pretty well? Rate this thread to express how you feel about the OnePlus 3's call quality. A higher rating indicates that calls are clear and crisp, and that regardless of background noise, you can hear the other party clearly (and with ample volume) and they can hear you.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
can anyone comment on the call quality and reception?

Reception is really good but call volume isn't as loud as I would have hoped through earphones. It's not horrible, just not fantastic. Person on the other end was mentioning the call having pops in the audio. This was consistent over a two and a half mile walk plus standing in one location for a bit. Call didn't drop throughout the hour I was on the phone testing it so that's good. Some spots I could see might have a problem and have had dropped calls on various phones in the past but the OP3 kept strong. As for the popping noise, I took out the sim and did a test call with the 6s+ and was told it was a lot cleaner, louder, with no popping noises. On my side I couldn't hear any static or popping. I'm on AT&T / Denver CO.
So for my rating it would be a 4 out of 5. Speaker is good but with earphones the volume could stand to be 20% louder.
Call quality is good and a lot of it depends on your carrier.

Hi, appreciate some comments on whether the dual SIMs support LTE+LTE or is it LTE+3G or worst LTE+2G if use concurrently?
Let's say I have SIM 1 that I'm gonna use for 4G data only (all internet connections) while SIM 2 just for voice calls, is this possible? I meant using both concurrently rather than switching one at a time.
Many thanks.
Cant even use my s6 work phone for calls in the shop 90% after we installed a metal roof the signal is that bad.
So far the OP3 is running laps on the samsung and is able to take any call and keep it
Having random/sporadic issues making and receiving calls. When making a call, sometimes I don't hear the phone ringing at the other end and the OP3 phone screen will move from "Dialing" to "Call Ended". I've also had more than 1 instance of someone trying to call me on the OP3 and there is no ring or indication of a call (or even missed call!).
Called OnePlus tech support today and I was told that they have received this complaint from others. They suggested that I wipe data/cache and see what happens. I did that plus reflashed radio software. We'll see what happens from now.

Reception was so bad for me I had to get rid of the phone.
Reception is also bad for me. The 4G is great but GSM is ugly and I got cut during calls...
Noise cancellation doesn't work
Noise cancellation doesn't work on one plus 3 so dont expect best calling but still better than competitors.
Reception has nothing to do with noise cancellation. With the last update 3.2.2 oos reception is even worst...

Agreed. Since 3.2.2 I have noticed this as well.
One Plus 3 Call quality Issues
The call quality issues started after 3.2.2 upgrade. Have replaced the phone with new one plus 3, I still face the same issue.
Planning to schedule a call back with One plus 3 for tech support troubleshooting.
I have read somewhere that the reception was better with the 3.1.2. has anybody succeed to extract the radio from the 3.1.2 ? I search but didn't found any radio.img into the zip...
bad quality call
I use to call in speaker mode so this is why recently I've noticed the poor quality in the call
I hardly listen to the person is calling me, there's no problem with them hearing me
I'm stock 3.2.2 btw
Having the same issue with bad call quality with the phone.
Personally , I have no problem with the calls
reception is about average and the sound quality of the call is extremely bad, the volume is so slow you can barely hear anything, this phone is a fraud and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
