What is GEE and how do I update TWRP? - Sprint LG Optimus G

Last time I flashed a ROM was about a year ago. I flashed Dirty Unicorns 4.3.1, and was able to do so easily. Now when I try to flash any 4.4+ ROM it doesn't work. So I figure that its an issue with TWRP being outdated. How can I update TWRP and be able to flash a new ROM?

You can find the TWRP thread in the original development section I do believe. Just update in recovery if flash able or if it is just a .img, use the app "Flashify" in the play store.
Ls970 ROMs are ROMs based on the Gpro sources, and Gee ROMs are ROMs based on the Make sources (Nexus 4). I believe. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.

[Q] Upgrading to CyanogenMod Snapshot

Hello, I've worked with custom roms and such before, but only stable things. I installed the Cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly builds, and I've been updating them every day, through TWRP by just flashing the rom, and gapps. A snapshot was just released, and I was wondering if I just do it the same method, or do I have to do the wipe system and all that when you first install a brand new rom. I'm pretty sure I do it the same way, but I just want to make sure there isn't have to be anything else. Better safe than sorry.
Oh my why are you going through all that trouble CyanogenMod has a built in updater all you do is go to about and then CyanogenMod update I believe it will ask you the frequency to check for updates. Make sure you change the options to nightly builds. The phone will notify you when there's an update, after downloading the phone will update itself and all your apps will still be there so you won't need to flash G apps each time.

The process to do this is called a "dirty flash" because you are flashing over what you already have without wiping again. Usually if its an updated version of the same rom you dont need to rewipe everything
However, if you come upon this in some other rom (you're updating to a new version of it), make sure that the OP's instructions dont mention a full flash, because the nature of some big updates WILL require you to do a full wipe and then flash
But for this specific case, just do what the guy above me said

So... Noob Question coming in 3 2 1.... What is a snapshot? How is it different from a nightly....

It is a more stable build designation. Still not an official release. Think of it as a monthly nightly!
Thank you!

I will try it again in the next days.
Once again, thank you.

Do you plan on making any versions that can boot on 4.3 ROMs in the sprint optimus g development section? (CM10.2, AOKP, Carbon)? I tried AOKP and Carbon and it didn't boot on either. :-/

I am more likely to compile my own version of cm 10.2 that is compatible with the kernel. You won't be deceived.

Edit :
done, check on ribs.bbqdroid.org and use the geespr.
For E975, i will be working soon on the device tree and make it happen.

I am running your latest CM10.2 build 09-12 on my Sprint LG Optimus G, and the thing is utterly a BEAST. It runs sooooo good. One thing though, rear camera does not work whatsoever You open up the camera application, and it's on the front camera by default, with no way to switch to the rear.

This will work on on 4.3 roms. More specifically the one i've compiled. Which i believe is a stupid things to do, hence why some of you might have noted but i'm moving to official CM source. I will have a new kernel coming soon that will hopefully be compatible with more than just my rom. Still it will be only 4.3. Things are going well, I already have a few feature working and i'm using it as a daily. I might go a bit slower since it's not straight port from mako, which has 100 000 developpers. I'll give more info soon. Don't worry, it will be as smooth as this rom was currently. At least with my kernel

Nice! Would it be a simple flash from CMW or will we have to go through Odin? Will you post installation instructions? Just want something new on my E973, so far did not see anything stable

It will be CWM flashable, we don't use odin with anything else than samsung phone.
Tried Smoocha-test 0918 with the CM10.2 e973 build and my phone's kernel crashed to the black screen with white text 3 times in about 5 hours. Couldn't find any way to get a useful log though. I wasn't using it all 3 times when it happened so maybe something to do with sleep mode.

confused about Gapps

I just got a lg g pro and I'm pretty confused about flashing custom roms on this phone. I installed freegee and cwm. I currently have aokp installed but it took a few tries because the gapps I was using wouldn't load. is there a different gapps for each rom? in the OP of roms I see a link like this usually http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip but it's saying not found. is this the gapps that all roms can use? someone please explain this to me
That's one of them. Some devs use PA Gapps too. There are different Gapps for 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, etc.

where can I download the gapps for 4.3 roms..
Use the recommended gapps in the OP of the rom. Once you have the various gapps on your external card, just use the recommended one. I have PA Gapps, the, 20130813 signed, slim gapps just in case I need them.
I personally prefer banks unofficial gapps. Works well with all ROMs and, unless you install the addons, it doesn't come with all the extra bloat that all other ones come with. Basically, it's just the play store.

Which version of GAPPS to flash to Nexus 7?

I was reading thru the posts for the IOKP ROM, and decided to flash it. I got it rooted, but now I need to flash gapps. There are two different gapps on the OP for the IOKP ROM. The first one is in the first post; the second gapps is in the second post. Which one do I flash? They both look like gapps 4.3. Will it hurt my device to flash 4.3 gapps to a 4.4.2 ROM?
Sent from my SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
There are plenty of 4.4 gapp packages around. I don't think the 4.3 will work.

Flashing custom kernel

I have been trying, unsuccessfully to flash two different custom kernels. The first was the Matrix Kernel v1.42(no overclock) and the other was Sleshepicss Governor Kernel v1.7 MA7. I have been using Phiz custom recovery to flash and the flash process says completed successfully but after reboot the phone does nothing. Any suggestions??
Edit: I am running Dirty Unicorns 4.4.2 rom
Those won't work. Read kernels op. They are not for 4.4.2 heck I don't even think either of these work with aosp no matter the version. Use the latest plasma (omni rom build)
