I was reading thru the posts for the IOKP ROM, and decided to flash it. I got it rooted, but now I need to flash gapps. There are two different gapps on the OP for the IOKP ROM. The first one is in the first post; the second gapps is in the second post. Which one do I flash? They both look like gapps 4.3. Will it hurt my device to flash 4.3 gapps to a 4.4.2 ROM?

There are plenty of 4.4 gapp packages around. I don't think the 4.3 will work.

Happily I have flashed the new CM10 and rooted, and it is one of the greatest ROM's I have seen so far. But and update came out and Im wondering if I have to reflash the boot.img again or just flash the zip only to update it. I already have CM10 installed.
Also small question. What are your guys recommended undervolt values? I looked all over forums but could not find anything.
Always recommended-flash boot.img-wipe-flash ROM...but since ROM is same.
..wipe is not necessary..

Its not necessary that you always flash the kernel after a ROM update.. unless the thread specifies to do so .

just the zip brother!
Hello,
I am using Cynogenmod 10 and I recently downloaded the newest Gapps to update my existing ones. My question is:
Can I just flash the newest Gapps? If not, what would the process be?
Thank you very much!

I believe you just have to delete cache and wipe dalvik and install the new gapps.
Make sure Gapps is for JB 4.1.2 and not 4.2.1. CM10 is still on 4.1.2. unless you are running the unofficial 10.1 rom.
Edit** 10.1 Nightlies are now rolling out. So flash 4.2 Gapps if you are planning on running it
Hello, I've worked with custom roms and such before, but only stable things. I installed the Cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly builds, and I've been updating them every day, through TWRP by just flashing the rom, and gapps. A snapshot was just released, and I was wondering if I just do it the same method, or do I have to do the wipe system and all that when you first install a brand new rom. I'm pretty sure I do it the same way, but I just want to make sure there isn't have to be anything else. Better safe than sorry.
Oh my why are you going through all that trouble CyanogenMod has a built in updater all you do is go to about and then CyanogenMod update I believe it will ask you the frequency to check for updates. Make sure you change the options to nightly builds. The phone will notify you when there's an update, after downloading the phone will update itself and all your apps will still be there so you won't need to flash G apps each time.

The process to do this is called a "dirty flash" because you are flashing over what you already have without wiping again. Usually if its an updated version of the same rom you dont need to rewipe everything
However, if you come upon this in some other rom (you're updating to a new version of it), make sure that the OP's instructions dont mention a full flash, because the nature of some big updates WILL require you to do a full wipe and then flash
But for this specific case, just do what the guy above me said

So... Noob Question coming in 3 2 1.... What is a snapshot? How is it different from a nightly....

It is a more stable build designation. Still not an official release. Think of it as a monthly nightly!
Thank you!

As you requested, this is the latest available nightly on BasketBuild. Nightlies aren't stable (especially for PACman) so actually you shouldn't want them at all.
And you have hours of patience waiting for a spoon-fed answer but don't have the 10-minute patience searching for the links in the Dev subforum? Come on man, this is XDA - help yourself next time

1) You have a custom recovery (CWM, TWRP), right? Stock recovery doesn't flash custom ROMs.
2) What error does it give? Details needed.

And to add to that, make a back up in cwm/twrp, then wipe, then flash rom+gapps. The latest nightly of pacman was uploaded to the pacman site last night and appears to be running really well compared to the 10/7 release. It is also android 4.3.1
It tries to flash the rom then it just stops in the first half second of the flash and says error.

I just got a lg g pro and I'm pretty confused about flashing custom roms on this phone. I installed freegee and cwm. I currently have aokp installed but it took a few tries because the gapps I was using wouldn't load. is there a different gapps for each rom? in the OP of roms I see a link like this usually http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip but it's saying not found. is this the gapps that all roms can use? someone please explain this to me
That's one of them. Some devs use PA Gapps too. There are different Gapps for 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, etc.

where can I download the gapps for 4.3 roms..
Use the recommended gapps in the OP of the rom. Once you have the various gapps on your external card, just use the recommended one. I have PA Gapps, the, 20130813 signed, slim gapps just in case I need them.
I personally prefer banks unofficial gapps. Works well with all ROMs and, unless you install the addons, it doesn't come with all the extra bloat that all other ones come with. Basically, it's just the play store.
