[Q] Call SIM selection on Xperia M dual with CM11 - Sony Xperia M

I've just installed CyanogenMod 11 FXP339 with the GApps mini package on an Xperia M dual C2005. Before that I was using Sony stock.
I'm having an issue with selecting which SIM card to call from. It seems that I can't do that from the dialer. Instead it always uses the setting in the Settings->Multi-SIM settings. I have tried the 'Ask' setting there but it's unsatisfactory for several reasons, and I'd prefer it not to ask but still be able to override its setting in the dialer. Perhaps the 'default' in the title implies that it can be overriden. I'm looking for something that work similarly to the stock dialer, where SIM selection was controlled from the apps themselves, if I remember correctly.
I've also tried Dual SIM selector and DualSIM dialer as a workaround. However nothing I've tried seems to be able to override the Multi-SIM setting. Are there any dual SIM aware dialers that work with Xperia M dual that don't rely on the Multi-SIM setting?
I'm interested to hear how others manage dialer/sms SIM selection on the Xperia M dual with CM11, and if it works to their satisfaction.

I was able to override the Multi-SIM settings by using DualSIM dialer. What prevented it from working was some filters I had set in CSipSimple. DualSIM dialer also can be set to remember which SIM card should be used for a given telephone number which is very nice. Dual SIM selector would not override the SIM setting though.

Hi. I want to install cyanogenmod 11 in my Xperia M dual. I found unofficial mod for Xperia M. Will this work for C2004? There shouldn't be issues with sim selection, WiFi and sound problems as reported by some users. Please guide me

[Q] Cyanogenmod11 and mobile hotspot issues

Hi,
I really like cm11 compares to the default Sony interface on the xperia z1 compact. Unfortunately I have run into a bit of an issue with the mobile hotspot feature. It works perfectly on stock Sony but on cm11 it appears to create the mobile hotspot first time round but subsequent times it appears that it has created the hotspot, I can even see it on other devices, but devices will time out after a while and never connect.
I am new to android, but I have found in /system/app and priv-app on the stock Sony ROM a bunch of different things to cyanogenmod11. Should I be borrowing any apk files from Sony to update the drivers or something on cm11?
Thanks for your time.
Try a different 4.4.4 ROM like Pacman ROM.
Or go stock and use different launcher and a theme

WhatsApp notifications under Android 5.02 LP

Does anyone know a reliable app that can send notifications to the SM2 when on Android 5.02?
I used to have Watchify but this does not work under 5.02 (which seems to be abandoned by the Dev and buggy as crap a.t.m.) :crying:
I have tried other solutions but these are even more crappy looking or either not working: WatchIt etc.
My current setup is: Sony Xperia Z3 Compact with Stock Official 5.02 installed.
Im currently using Smartwatch2 Notifier Pro with 4.4.4 KitKat on my Z3, there is a free version in the PlayStore that you can try out.

I'm not using WhatsApp, but this thing sends all notifications correctly on 5.0.2.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.shuisky.notify
Notifications popup (you can select white or black background, timeout for it to disappear,...) and by default sends all notifications, you can add apps to blacklist on the phone. Since this one I look for no other apps. And the widget actually shows valuable part of the info + icon.
I only get a site not found in germany.
Notify doesnt seem to be compatible with all phones and gears :/
Hi guys I dont know if you still looking but for whatsapp this app works just fine, one of this forum did it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ingeniousapps.hellosmartwatch. Need root for reply messages from the watch.
I needed to pay it twice, because I change countries and I needed to factory reset my phone for a boot loop, and for some reason needed to pay again. Was just 3$.

Stock Google Dialer - no ringing, no loudspeaker

Hi,
Today I've received my HTC 10 and I'm trying to get the 'nearest Nexus experience'. There was no problems with either Now Launcher or Keyboad, but I have some problems with Dialer. The app itself was installed from Play Store (com.google.android.dialer), so no sideloading was necessary. The installed version is 2.05.07_rc4. I've given it all permissions (with settings ones), change default dialer and everything is working except ringing and loudspeaker. I can dial a number, answer a call, talk. There are all notifications.
I've tried sideloading different versions form apkmirror. 2.3.17 fails to install (no necessary libraries), 3.00.04_rc4 installs but crashes. I've also sideloaded Contacts - no problems there.
Can someone had similar problems? Maybe on different phone?
Thanks for any help.
Karol
That's weird. When I go to the Play Store, it tells me the Google Dialer is not compatible with my HTC 10. Also, the version on the store is 2.3.17, how come you have 2.05.07_rc4 ? Which country are you in? (I'm in the US) Why is it a release candidate (I assume the rc part at the end is for that)?
I've tried installing from apkmirror (2.3.17 and 3.00.04_rc4) and the same happens to me; first one doesn't want to install and the latter crashes.
I'm trying as well to make my 10 resemble my former Nexus, so if anyone knows how to make this Google Dialer app work, please, post it here.
Thanks!
I had the same problem. Not sure which version. I ended up going back to the horrible HTC dialler
I also had a problem with the alarm in the google clock app. The alarm tone I selected always seemed to be the default rather than the custom selected one.
I don't know what HTC have done with their firmware. It's been a pretty good experience other than those issues though.

Give the google clock permissions for disk access and it will then be able to use custom "ringtones". This is a common Marshmallow issue. Try giving the google dialer full permissions and see if that fixes your other issues.

I'm in Poland. And yes, Google Play installs 2.05.07_rc4. It's also available from ApkMirror (apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/google-phone-2-05-07_rc4-release/google-phone-2-05-07_rc4-android-apk-download)
As for the phone - I gave up. It's already sold. All reviewers almost promised the Nexus experience, but it's far from it. It's not like Moto phones, where they take stock Android and add some of their features. It's all rebuild. The quick settings look similar yet different. The same thing is with the settings. Some (Many?) dialogs have Sense not Material look. The typography is wrong. It still is Roboto, but the weights are used differently.
Stock Android is beautiful. Everything is in place, everything works as expected. Sense (8 is it?) look like HTC tried to rebuild/upgrade previous version to look Material. They failed. I'm back to my old Nexus 5.
Ps. One hint about the dialer. When you place a call, two icons appear in the notification bar. One from Google Dialer, one from HTC Dialer. So the built in one is still active, also you can't disable the Contacts/Dialer app. Maybe it's HTC bug and should by reported?
Karol
Sounds weird.
I couldn't install the contacts or dialer through google play, but sideloaded the apks and no problem once I gave the permissions.
The phone rings and loudspeaker is functional.
No issues or bugs so far.
Edit: The HTC dialer does show in the notification, and in the default app I selected the google dialer.
The phone doesn't ring either but I do have loudspeaker during a call.
For me the only part I care about is the dialer. I have the dialer installed and when I call it launches HTC phone app. I get the nice features of search but no bugs. So far it has worked nicely

I got that setup to work like that as well, but I don't like the htc phone app taking over the call. I have Google voice + carrier number on the same phone and the Google phone app lets me know if I'm dialing with Google voice or with my carrier number.

Our only hope is Roms or maybe a HTC Google phone like the m7, that would be so awesome.

Why did HTC feel the need to restrict the access to the phone's dialing functions? (rethorical question)

I've enabled permissions for both phone and storage and it still doesn't seem to allow me to change my alarm to a custom ringtone.

Google just updated the stock dialer, it is now compatible with the HTC 10. Any luck?
I tried this earlier today and the new RC9 won't even install for me. No errors, just a failed message after a brief wait. I tried uninstalling the RC8 first but no change.

I got the same thing on other apps. You have to go into permissions to allow it to modify system settings. I don't remember exactly where it is but since the app never rings I uninstalled it.

Looks like there is an easy fix for this now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66873075&postcount=39
keep in mind it breaks Wi-Fi calling settings ( although Wi-Fi calling still works)

Right... and the OP already had it and was modding to get it to work. Not sure how this is relevant. But yes, of course replacing any system files like the HTC dialer will require root...

After I installed the dialer.zip, I installed True Phone Dialer & Contacts from

Dual Sim ringtones

Hi everyone,
I'm using the zenfone 2 Z00A (dual sim) and I updated from CM13 to lineage and discovered that the dual sim ringtones feature wasn't there anymore :crying:
Does anyone know if this feature is planned in a near future ?
thanks
I am having the same headache.
M using 14.1-20170707-Nightly-x2 for Le Max 2 (a dual-sim model). Found that Lineage OS (at least this version) does not support dual sim ringtones customization. 1 configuration in Sound settings is sharing with both sim's.
Tried 2 dual-ringtones app in play store, none of them works as they claim. Wonder if any may share a solution here? Need this desperately.
Thanks.
Same here on Redmi 3 and LOS 14.1
its really important feature for me to know right away which part of my life is calling.
So one year later with LineagoOS Oreo (and apparently also Nougat) and we still don't have dual sim ringtone support? Looking through the XDA forums, it seems thee are multiple unanswered threads across the board of phones and also across different operating systems, not just Lineage, with the same problem.
Can't someone at least make an Xposed module or a Root app for a dual sim ringtone workaround? Didn't find any of those either on FDroid or the Play store or the Xposed store. There are a couple of non root apps on the pay store which are unreliable at best.
Thanks to anyone for any insight or status or acknowledgement or something
I totally agree.
This is a useful feature, why is it simply left out? I feel tempted to switch back to my stock OS (Which basically is a Vanilla Android + root anyway)
Runng an Aquaris X Pro 128
Does anyone know if there is a magisk module for dual sim ringing?
We are in 2020, and this functionality which existed in the previous versions and worked perfectly is still not implemented ??? How is it possible ?
edit: this app (full version 1.4) works perfectly meanwhile => https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/dualsimringer-t3890457
Hi! The thread for the mentioned app has been closed and download links have been removed. I wonder why? Is there an alternative that works on a Pixel 4a?

[request] Google Phone App for XZ Premium

I really like the default apps from Google and replaced everything I could with them, but the Play Store won't let me download the phone app and if I get the apk directly the installation always fails. Could anyone port the app over so I could use it instead of the Xperia phone app since that made some weird design choices and I would prefer the Google solution. Thanks in advance.

Many function doesn't work on this modded dialer.
New dialer is avaible only when you have root and copy dialer files to system apps.
You must waiting for DRM and root. Better install version non Nexus from apkmirror.
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/google-phone-7-0-140861421-nonnexus-release/
I'm not sure where I got mine, there is an old version you can download that works perfectly. Nearby features and caller ID.
Loaded the nonnexus version, works just fine. Thank you very much.
If you want basically the same features and the ability to have a dark/black theme...then use ZENui dialer and contacts and black theme all from the play store. Works great.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asus.contacts.theme.dark

I had some non nexus version installed over my sony xperia x compact, and suddenly i got updated to version "google phone 14.0.176716531" 0_o
But in this version speed dial doesnt work well, so i was searching a little and found there is also newer version 15.0.179075669
apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/google-phone-15-0-179075669-release/#description
And its working without any problem on xperia x compact. Don't have to mod anything, just install and thats all
