Hello!
I just want to know what is broken on my HOX
I noticed that my screen sometimes doesn't recognize the gesture (swipe or tap) on a certain area
I researched a bit on testing HTC's touchscreen and used *#*#3424#*#* code and I got these results on the HTC's drawing test (see attachment)
is my LCD broken? or just the digitizer? i've read a few articles and it all points to the fact that the digitizer is the one broken. just asking here to confirm it.
Thanks for the confirmation!
I had the same issue. Seems only a digitizer problem, but I ordered complet (screen+digitizer+frame) as replacing only a digitizer is pain in a**.

It's the digitizer mate, try a factory reset just to be sure.
The problem is that if you need a new digitizer it's almost impossible to separate the LCD from your old digitizer, so you would need to buy the complete LCD and digitizer combined with frame, use etradesupply.com and you will get an original.
I also have the same issue as yours. only my phone has non responsive area abit higher than yours. Try press the upper part of your lcd(at the htc logo), I recovered mine by doing so although the fix is only temporary.

Hi you guys, does anyone know if you disamble the artemis easy and replace the touch screen? ( i was mad and smashed it, i kind of regret it, i know i shoud get anger management !). The phone is working fine, since i can connect it to my pc, the only problem the screen is black!
any guys any ideas or experience?
thank you.
hi, depending on which part you have broken, will depend on how much it will cost. Its fairly easy to change tho. If you have a look in the Wiki there is a guide to repairing the Artemis.
There are two parts to the screen the 'touch' bit on top (digitiser) and the actual LCD screen. If it is just the touch bit that has broken, then you can get a replacement one for around £7 on eBay. If the LCD has broken (which i am guessing it has caus u said it is just a black screen) then you can get a digitiser and a LCD for around £30. It is easier to replace both, as it is just a unit which is stuck in with double sided tape. WARNING: the ribbon cable which plugs into the main board from the screen is VERY fragile!
Hope this helps
broken screen
there are two different screen modules available for the Artemis. They are NOT interchangeable. In one case touch-screen module and LCD screen are seperate and in the other case they are both integrated into one module.

Bjorden
your gonna have to open it like i did, and find out which screen!.. also the touch screen is replaceable but its a ***** to do.. just get the whole screen on ebay 40 usd lcd and touchscreen very simple plug and play
Hi i have cracked screen in my NEW (!) desire .
There is only a small hairline crack visible in the glass underneath the outer cover of the phone (i assume it's the screen - as seen on the famous tj's tear-down photostory ). The outer glass is completely intact (how the F#$% did that happen?).
When the phone is on the screen is all green, yellow - like a leaked lcd.
So here goes my question: how do i check/know if the digitizer is fine? Or will i only know it after i replace the AMOLED screen?
No expert here, but as far as I know digitizer has to do with the touchscreen, so I guess that if your touchscreen works(font mean the display) the digitizer works too...
Sent from my HTC Desire
Heh,
that is exactly the problem that i don't know if it works. Phone boots normaly, but i can't see anything on the display so i can't see if the digitizer works the straight-forward way.
I think the only way to check that would be to connect the phone to the computer somehow and see some "telemetry" - i was hoping for a suggestion in this area
You can try to use adb logcat boot up your phone and try to push various buttons (blindly ) if logcat shows interactions, digitizer should be fine.
i tried to connect to logcat but it's impossible if the "usb debugging" feature is disable in the phone.
Nevertheless i replaced the display and the phone works perfectly now
(note to self: do not boulder with your desire in your pocket )
how to check that only glass has broken not digitizer? please answer me. i am going to buy phone which is working fine and has only cracked screen which is visible, looks like only glass broken handset, how to know if digitizer is damaged or not ?
Hi everybody,
I have problem with my HTC Touch Pro 2.
It was fully working until I damaged my LCD screen and digitizer.
So I ordered a new one LCD and digitizer from ebay. I changed old lcd and digitizer, booted up my HTC and everything looked allright. But problem came soon. Touch screen can't recognize my touch exactly. For example, if I click on something, digitizer solve it allways about 2-3mm higher. So I can't click on start, battery and every other click is moved about 2-3mm higher.
I made a calibration, but without any effect. I made a hard reset and than a calibration, problem still same.
And if try to make a new calibration (after first calibration after HR), I click on first cross (in the middle of screen), then up-left corner, down-left corner, down-right corner, up-right corner and nothing happens, I have to click on first cross again... and whole procedure again... So I have to make a HR and try to make a new calibration... still same problem.
Could anybody help me please? I'm going crazy, because I like my HTC and I can't use it anymore.
Is there any other way to make a calibration or how can I repair it?
ROM:
Energy.RHODIUM.29022.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.Jul.04.7z
(I have this ROM before I damaged LCD screen, any it worked fine)
It almost sounds like the screen/digitizer aren't lined up correctly... Just my .02.

Thanks for reply.
Ok, then It seems to be a HW problem between screen and digitizer?
So what can I do now? Try to repair it again?
How can I check, if digitizer is OK? or could be digitizer bad at all?

I'm just guessing from your description. I've never actually replaced the screen... If the two have to line up perfectly, I would ensure they are lined up correctly. Perhaps try slightly moving the digitizer down...

Ok, thanks. But I can't move with a digitizer, because it is in fixed position. Maybe I can move with a screen under a digitizer, but then I will not be able to see whole screen (digitizer has a black edge/margin/border).
Any other suggestion?

Nope, all I got. Calibration always works perfectly for me - if calibration doesn't work, there certainly must be some hardware problem. You replaced the screen, unfortunately you must establish where the hardware issue lies.
I don't have any help for you, sorry, just jumping on the wagon. My touch screen worked fine for a year but is now way off (1.5-2 inches sometimes) without having damaged the screen to my knowledge. I've switched roms (from MR.X to Mighty) and hard reset. If I try to calibrate it just keeps running through the process. Should I try to replace the digitizer? I plan on getting an iPhone if possible on Sprint in the coming month but would like to sell this for at least a little bit.
To both of you guys - have you ensured there's nothing between the screen or digitizer? Nothing that is wedged on the edge of the screen...?
I know some had reported complete screen failures just from some gunk that got wedged on the side of the screen.

Thought about that, but dismissed the tiny little amounts of gunk on the edge..currently searching for a toothpick or something small to clean out the edge. Thanks for the idea! Will report back.
Thanks so much arrrghhh! Found a small pin and got out most of the dust/gunk that was between one side of my phone. Apparently that bezel side is just a little bit looser. You saved me lots of time and money! Thanks. Always helpful on here and PPCGeeks.
Edit #2: Must still be more junk because the 100% functionality just went away. Time to clean it again
Hi all, i recently bought a new touch panel for my HOX couse the old one is semi working due a fall. With great surprise i see that the original lcd is literally attached to touch glass. So trying to remove original touch, is equal to break original LCD. And this happen to me. However, i bough the a new lcd and finally remount my HOX. But there something strange. The touch is in contact with the display, stange artifacts are visible on the screen on the contact points and the touch has only a semi working response. I've tried to move away the touch from the lcd to be sure that the new components are working...and infact are working well. So i understood thath i must use something to prevent the touch came in contact with the LCD. What can or must i use to complete the remount? Thanks

And that is the reason why you can find lcd panel + touch assembly (yes its more expensive), touch panel is already glued to lcd with "special" compound. It is not glued actually, more like adhesive compound.. When you broke lcd you should go for lcd+touch..
But you can check this one, maybe you find some answers :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720900 and here :http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-one-x-screen-repair-video.html
lg g3 screen q's... lines on screen and seperate issue "bubble" between lcd and glass
Please see picture... 2 different phones I bought used, as-is
The phone that has vertical lines in the screen is funny. I know the most likely response will be: replace the lcd/digitizer assembly and it will be fixed, but I just want to make sure I cover all the bases before going there. I pulled it apart and reseated the connectors, which didn't change anything...
**the interesting thing is that when it first boots up (first second or 2), the lg / life is good logo displays normally with no vertical lines...then the lines show up as in the picture. The digitizer (touch) works normally on this phone
anything else I can check with the lcd or ribbon cables?
copy and paste picture I can't post it due to being a new user, if anyone would be kind enough to repost it in a reply that would be great!

On the other phone (which touch and lcd work fine on) it looks to me like perhaps the digitizer was replaced and is too close to the lcd in the center (touching) or maybe water damage or something like that but not sure...
any advice on how to carefully try to repair this?
Both phones were purchased used as=-is with no history so no warranty or anything like that obviously.
Any input very greatly appreciated
