[Q] MOTO 360 Can't Connect to Google - Moto 360

I just received my MOTO 360 today and it has been able to send text messages then suddenly when dictating a text in Google Now on the watch it says that it "Can't Connect to Google at the Moment."
I have the newest software update (KGW42 R 4.4W.1) on the watch and I have done multiple factory resets to no avail. I have also switched the phone from Hello SMS to Google Hangouts and that has not helped.
It appears to involve any Google Now command like reminders. However, I can search the web fine.
I am running a Nexus 5 Unlocked with 4.4.4.
Any help would be appreciated. I'd like to get this resolved.

I'm having the exact same issue... and I just bought my Moto360 today as well. I got it to work for a few minutes then it disapeared again. Would not suprise me if this is an outage on google's side.... at least I hope it is. If I try any google voice action it opens a seach of that term instead of the action, so I have searched for "set an alarm for 9am" about a hundred times.

Yes. Any time I use a voice action to, let's say set a reminder, I get the same error message. Just as the text message. I do hope this is a problem on Google's side. Web searches appear to be working fine as you said.

Yes I am having the same issue. I got the watch yesterday night played with it till battery died. Then i charged it fully, and played with it and used it at work today. I used google commands like "remind me ..." and "set timer for ..." about 16 hours ago with no problem. Now all of a sudden for the past 7 hours I always goes to google search when i make those same commands. It is very frustrating however i am happy i am not the only one experiencing this.

Just wiped my 360 and paired it with my Nexus 5 instead of my MotoX, same exact issue. Anyone who has had one of these things for more then 12 hours had this issue tonight?

It's a problem with the Wear app that was updated by Google today. I'm sure they'll have another update that fixes what they broke by tomorrow.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this issue... It's been driving me crazy I've been trying everything to fix it!

I was in tears thinking i got a lemon
Im glad im not the only one.. The 360 was launched here in India and i was quick to go and order before it went out of stock. I turned it on, charged it and updated it. Was trying all the voice commands and all it kept doing was a google search.. Hopefully an update will come soon enough.:fingers-crossed:

I've had my 360 for over week with no issues giving voice commands (e.g. remind me to xxxx) however just this morning, I am having the same problems as described. The weird thing is, my android wear app hasn't been updated (I've checked the version number) so that can't be the cause.
This leads me to believe its a server side issue.... hopefully...

This morning it seemed like the issue may have been resolved, not sure if anyone else can report the same.

^^^ I can report the same. The issues seem to be worked out. I will make not and post if i run into any other issues while i check it now.

Moto X pure here. Wasn't having this issue and now it suddenly popped up

Inexplicable awake time issues? I may have an answer...

Since updating my phone to an official-based ROM, I've been having inexplicable awake time issues. However I never have any issues while using any release (nightly or RC1/2) of Cyanogenmod. Once my phone began to stop sleeping, the only way to fix it was to do a factory reset. Spare parts shows no partial wake issue at all, just that the android system was running 100% of the time.
I work in tech support, so I have extensive experience with troubleshooting issues such as the one that I was having. However, a week later with at least one factory reset a day, I still had no clue. I had even been keeping a journal of the things that I had been doing with my phone to find something to blame the problem on. The only thing that I found was that after a factory reset that the phone would work fine until the awake time got to between 1:30:00 and 1:45:00. Once it got there, the phone would stop sleeping.
Finally after doing some serious thinking, it became quite apparent that the only thing that really was consistent across every test was the google account that I had used when setting the phone up.
Now for a little background info: I was one of those guys that flashed Cyanogen's first nightly build along with the google apps that had been pulled from the N1. Upon signing into my google account after flashing that first nightnly, I received an email from google saying something about activating a N1 on my google account. This of course wasn't technically true, but google sure thought I had since I used the N1's g-apps. Unfortunately I deleted the email, so I don't know what all it said. However, when I go to my google account dashboard via a web browser on my computer, way down at the bottom there's an "other products" section. Under that section, I have an option for Google Nexus One. It isn't currently manageable via the dashboard, but Google definitely thinks that I've got a Nexus One and there's no way that I can find to remove those settings (if you know of a way to do it, I'm all ears).
So, yesterday the problem cropped up again right at about 1:40:00 of total awake time. When I did the reset, I decided to set up another google account just to see what would happen. With my phone signed into my new google account (which doesn't show a Nexus One in the dashboard) I'm not experiencing the non-sleeping issue.
So...... my conclusion is something like this: My guess is that Google thinks that my phone is an N1, and it probably has the N1 checking in with it at given intervals if it's associated with a gmail account. Since Cyanogenmod is based of AOSP, then that check-in (or whatever it is) runs just fine. However, when I go back to a ROM based on HTC's official release for the Evo, that check-in can't (or won't) happen. My guess is that this check-in mush be scheduled by Google at the time that the phone is attached to a Google account. Because of that, when the scheduled time comes, the process (either left out by HTC or HTC did something to keep it from running properly) causes the phone to fail to sleep since it's trying to run this background process.
Without knowing what the process is, how to stop it from running, or how to change the schedule that it runs on the only option that I can come up with is to use another google account (one that you haven't had a Cyanogen'ed Evo connected to) and see what happens. Since changing the account yesterday afternoon I'm up to almost three hours of total awake time and the non-sleeping issue still hasn't reared is head.
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to give everyone enough background info so they wouldn't automatically say, "You've installed something from the market that is keeping your phone awake, dummy..."
so did this actually fix your problem? or no?
my phone hasn't been sleeping lately, and it's really starting to bug me. I can't figure out what on earth is keeping it awake!!!
any more info you found out or do find out, please post here! Thanks!
That TLR crap doesn't fly with me. Never apologize for a long post. Some of us really appreciate it when the OP puts time and effort into the information being posted. Thanks man, now I know what to look for if it happens to me.

[Q] Phone won't log into E-mail account

Just recently my phone is getting hung up when trying to download my e-mail. It can't log on, then it won't disconnect. I've tried a hard reset and still no luck. I'm connecting to a g-mail account. I've been running the same ROM for over a yr and haven't had any issues until just this week. Any one else out there have an issue with this?
Looks like this is a Google problem. They're researching it. Read about it here.
The word is if you disable automatic send/receive and manual download instead, it should work.
However, I'm in the process of trying this now, and it's doing the same thing.
thanks, I just set-up a yahoo account and it's working good. Guess I'll push my e-mail that way until they get it figured out.

"Word" isn't entirely correct... my phone still hangs at login stage even after a hard reboot. Switching to POP access from IMAP looks more promising.
Neither worked for me, so if it works for you, you're one step ahead.
A fix for another problem seems to have fixed the problem for those who started experiencing the hanging since May 19th.
Google is still in the process of confirming whether this fix is officially *the* fix for mobile Gmail.
I can confirm on my phone that Gmail (at least manual send/receive) is now working again. I just switched back to automatic send/receive to see if that works as well.
Hi do not know if these were witnessed feel that your phone so me and my other friends was what happened to us

It would be my guess we all experienced the same thing... someone at gmail goofed. Wasn't limited to any one device or carrier. They seem to have fixed it now, mine's been working fine since the day after my last post.
Searching the internet I found something on a topic also called the sleep of death occurred only for the HTC Touch Pro 2 which had the Windows Mobile 6.5 version will leave the link in case you want to see.

Can't make a calendar entry on Moto 360

Could somebody please help me about making a calendar entry? I feel pretty stupid about this whole thing, I can say to Moto 360 "open calendar app but it only seems to open it on my phone". Is it possible to say make an appointment for Wednesday the 25th? Seems like I have no problems with anything else like sending text messages and getting directions but this is driving me crazy. Thanks for any input you can give me.
I haven't been able to figure this out either.

Set reminders
I've been able to set "reminders" that only exist under the Google Now home screen. Try this voice command: "Add reminder. Whatever whatever whatever at 9am tomorrow." I've used the "Add reminder" command quite often and it works very well.

You can just say "remind me to take out the trash tonight".
Unfortunately I need calendar items and it seems, inexplicably, Google Wear doesn't support it.
What about these:

no luck.
No Luck this is a bummer. I would like to just add a calendar meeting. Just by saying add calendar event tomorrow 9am meet with John Doe.

This is definitely a bummer like you said, but now I'm just using "add a reminder" hoping that the next version of android Google L will do the job.
Sadly, Android Wear is more of an extension of Google Now, than an extension of the Android phone...
It'll get better, though
I can't even get it to set a reminder. It tries to save and says "Sorry that didn't work. Try again"

After 3 weeks with my Moto 360 I just started having problems of all sorts, including no longer being able to set a reminder. I do everything the same as I've effortlessly done over the last 3 weeks ... "Ok, Google ... Remind me to <blah blah>" and it just shows a Google search of a webpage I can open on my phone. Reminders have worked dozens upon dozens of times over the last 3 weeks, and now not at all.
I've uninstalled Android Wear on my phone, restarted, Reset device on my watch, waited a long time, followed the on-watch prompts to reinstall Android Wear, re-paired Bluetooth, and so on. A few times now. Same thing - super basic smartwatch functionality of my Moto 360 has spontaneously stopped working over the last couple of days.
If I say "Ok, Google ... Remind me." and pause my watch will display a prompt that says "About what?" and if I say something it just says it can't reach Google at the moment. But it can! All my notifications from my phone are still working, and if I ask a random question ("Ok, Google ... who is the Prime Minister of Canada?") it pops up a response just fine. It's just all the really useful and core smartwatch stuff that has been hosed.
It started with the time being incorrect on my watch, whilst it remains totally correct on my phone. I've had to restart my watch multiple times per day to get the time set correctly, I've Reset device several times now, etc.
Overall, my Moto 360 experience is severely degrading over time. :crying:

What kind of phone? Is it at least android 4.3?
used to work fine
Yes, I have a stock Samsung Galaxy S4 with 4.4.2. And as mentioned, Android Wear and my Moto 360 have been working great for me for the last few weeks then all of a sudden - wrong time. After a bunch of complete wipes / reinstalls AND calls to Motorola support just to be sure and also to loop them in on problems, my AW experience continues to get worse.
However, it appears I'm not unique in this. I just checked the comments on Google Play for the Android Wear app and it looks like a lot of people are having similar issues with the October 6th update - incorrect time, inability to set reminders anymore, etc. Let's hope Google and/or Motorola read and respond and fix the problems ASAP!

Which versions of AW are you on? I'm still on 1.01.
Any solution for the problem? It's really annoying, someone??

Hiya, it seems the reminder functionality uses Google Now, so if you've disabled Google Now on your phone, it'll tell you that it can't make new appointments every time you try...
You can add reminder to Google Now remind section not on Google Calendar.
If you want add entry in your Google Calendar you can use an App named "Calengoo".
With this app you can add calendar entry and also entry in your Google task.
With this app you can also dismiss or snooze Calendar Event when is send to Wear device.

Text alerts for *sent* messages as well as received since update

Apologies if I am posting this in the wrong spot. I have a Pixel 2 XL(obviously) and had been on the Android beta program for some time now. The android p beta had been running really solid for me with no issues. So when they pushed it out officially last week i of course went for it. However, all of a sudden now, when *sending* texts, it gives me a notification sound (same as incoming notification). Anyone run into this? I searched the forums briefly but didnt see anyone with the issue although I couldve missed it.
Note- I'm using the Google Messages(I believe thats the official name) app, I just prefer it to Hangouts. I did check the settings, and disabled the setting for outbound notification sounds- but it persists.
Here's the kicker- it cant be isolated to just me, as my mom has the same phone -she messaged me last week and asked if she should update (I'm typically the guinea pig) and I said yep, been rock solid for me.. now she's getting the exact same behavior. So barring it being the messages app itself which i suppose is possible, I dont know.
Thoughts? Suggestions? I havent tried a different messenger app yet, suppose I could(textra maybe), I'm just partial to this one for whatever reason.
Thanks in advance!
Disregard. I guess its specific to Android Messages app. Installed another text app and the issue went no longer occurs.
I have the same issue with my Android Messages app

Calendar not showing notifications

Anyone else have calendar events not showing up? I have an event scheduled everyday that isnt showing a notification. I’ve looked at the usual stuff, notifications are on for calendar, etc....I have an iPad that’s also connected to the same gooogle calendar and they come through fine on it everyday. Anyone have any insight?
Is there an alert added to the calender entry? Like 10 minutes before?
Thanks for replying. There is an alert set,...it was for 10 minutes before, that didn’t work so I changed it to at the time of event, and that didn’t work. I read somewhere that it was because of the last update, so I uninstalled the update and it worked this morning. I’m going to give it a few more days to see if it still works and if so I know a calendar update came out yesterday so I’ll update to that and hopefully I won’t have to worry about it anymore.

I used to have problems with my calendar not firing alerts or just firing late on previous phones. Then I found an app on GPS called Events Notifier For Calendar (by RYO Software.) There is an XDA thread somewhere about it. I've been using it on my last three phones including this one and I feel it is indispensable! (As for the GPS rating, my guess is user error for most of people's complaints.) But it has never failed me and the developer is extremely helpful. It's probably one of the first 5 apps I now install on every new phone.
