First off, not sure if this should go in the General section...?
This is something that has bugged me from day one with the phone. Why does scrolling with the 'All Programs' menu, and SMS messages seem clunky? It just seems like it's running at a lower frame per second compared to the rest of the phone. Even touch sensitiviy is lagged too. Is this a FPS issue or is scrolling through the menus or SMS messages really taxing the CPU to where it causes it to chug?
Since its loading a lot of data, it chugs, assuming you are using the stock messaging app. Handcent and chompsms alleviate that problem.

But even if I load a message that has less then 10 messages it still hesitates.

I've played with 3 Incredibles, including mine, and they all have this problem. I'm about 99% sure it is just poor coding on HTC's part, since there are other parts of the phone with similar scrolling animations that don't lag.
That's odd. I've had mine since 4 days before launch and i can only think of one time when it has lagged. That was while downloading a ROM from rom manager listening to music, and using veiwing flash content from one of the froyo roms i do notice what u r talking about but only n the htc music and messaging apps. When using the stock android messaging and music apps from skyraider 1.8 they seem to have 0 lag. Like the guy above said probably poor coding on htc's part. I wouldn't call that lag. Just clunky scrolling. If u want to experience lag put a live wallpaper on droid 1. That is lag

So then I'm assuming the messaging program that comes with our phone isn't the stock Android one?
After a year, Google Play is STILL the laggiest piece of software I have seen on ANY platform. How can Google still have it so laggy? I never use Google play because the experience sucks.
How come Google didn't fire the guy who approved the app with such lags and still haven't solved this issue?

You're alone on this one, I don't have any problems beyond things not updating as fast as I'd want them to be, and some downloads never starting.

Are we talking about the market? If so mine is nice and smooth, but it was laggy before but they updated it long ago.
When you scroll up or down when browsing apps its sooo lagy! But when you view an app its very smooth. Also transitions on Google play is very choppy.
Maybe this is an ICS issue because its the same on every app

You may need to re flash your phone or something. I am on my GSII and other than the millisecond it takes for the icon to appear the market is very fast and smooth. I can flick my finger and scroll through fifty apps with no issue..... Every click and backspace is smooth..... You might want to try and smooth your phone out..... Seems like issues from flashing a million times. Don't forget to wipe..... And wipe again.
killing is my business, And business is good.
You're holding it wrong. But seriously the only lag you mention might be when you scroll down the page is caching more apps and you're waiting for it to download. The faster your connection the less lag/caching you will experience. Everything else is as smooth as my latency allows. No lag here.

When looking at a long list of apps, scroll the page/screen one app at a time, then you'll have no lag.
Like everyone's said, there's "lag" because the screen is generating/downloading/updating the blank app icons to the app icon's picture.

To the OP you seriously have some really bad problems with android. You were ranting about nexus and the updates now about the play store why don't you go with iOS or windows phone 7. I personally went with iOS for 6 months and yes there is less bugs (yes they do have bugs trust me ) but the system is so closed the you get bored at it ( at least I did ) and the app store takes longer on iOS ( I do still have my ipad tho ) but is just how it is. Nothing is perfect nothing will be. Personally I haven't played with windows phone 7 much so I can't give you any excuses but that it doesn't have the apps and some are too expensive. Please move on if you feel like it, I do no feel the phone laggy and I don't have problems with it. I don't look for something wrong I just use it as normal and so far mine everything works normal .
For the rest sorry for the long post. Please let's move on and forget about this

I went to try out the Note II in store today - and couldn't believe how laggy it was... I have the Original Note, which feels much faster in comparison.
I noticed lag on
Home Screen - jerky movement
App Drawer - jerky again
Gallery - Took 10 seconds to open, very jerky scroll
Home Button - 3 or 4 seconds to return to home
My note doesn't lag on any of these, even with the new 3D Gallery app.
This was in the UK, O2 store. I even tried it on two display models and they were just as bad
I reminded me of the horrible lag I used to get on the old Galaxy S with 2.2
Anyone else noticed this?

I have 245 apps installed on my Note 2 and it screams.
I showed to one of my coworkers, who has the S3, and he was commenting on how much faster it was than his phone.
So I'm not sure what the problem is there. Some sort of horrible bloatware?

I agree, some people take things a little to close to heart. But anyway in reply to the OP, I think that it was most likely because of everyone that uses the phone that goes through the store. I guarantee that thing has so many apps running in the background. If you go again, I say try to reboot it, and if you can't do that, try and close out as many apps as possible.
Obvious troll thread imo or the OP is a typical iPhone user in wich case he is not to blame as iPhones prevent you from using your brain
In defense of the OP I would say that I have noticed a very occasional lag once or twice when something has been running. For example running the premium version of printer share caused a massive drain on resources including battery and caused my device to hiccup. Also, I have noticed slowdowns with s-planner and netflix - both have frozen on me forcing at the least a force-close of the app and once a force reboot.
So, before too many people start jumping on the 'It's a troll, run for the hills' bandwagon, perhaps take a minute to realise that the stock device, while being simply awesome, fast, smooth and generally amazing is not completely bug free.
Just a thought.

My point exactly...
I had the same experience in the Vodafone store, the note 2 on display almost came to a halt. I tried holding down the home button to see if there were many apps running but it wouldn't even bring up the task manager. Now I KNOW the note 2 is a beast but an 'average' consumer might have been put off by it.
I still can't make my mind up between this and the S3 LTE version that also comes with 2GB RAM.
Oh come on guys, these in store demo unist are left on for days and days and days without reboot, people mess around with them all day, they are a prime example of a phone at its worse, ram usage will be high, apps won't have been closed properly or at all etc etc.

The facing camera works but sometimes it makes force close!
Gave it a whirl on the latest 10.1.2. Got some force closes as well, and odd behavior. Sometimes when starting up Focal, the torch turns on and stays on, with just a black screen. Backing out causes a force close. It's a nice app but I think it could use some refinement, especially the menus. I'm sure they'll keep on improving it.
One hell of a camera. Can't wait to see it work I perfect in an official cm mako 4.3 build.
It's good to be nexus.

My first impression is that the framerate is significantly lower than with the stock camera - making for an overall sluggish experience.
Some random impressions while checking out its features:
- the Photosphere feature looks like a quick addition/afterthought, as the 'dots' you have to connect are just jagged sprites/images, instead of smooth circles - perhaps not that important functionality-wise, but it looks sloppy to me.
- The interface might work after a while of practice, but for now it forces me to hunt around for options too much - the ability to open more than one 'toggle group', seems more like a necessity (so that I can find the option I want) than a feature I'd use after I know where each toggle can be found (I compare it to finding a file on my computer, I know where each file/folder is, partly due to descriptive names and a clear structure. But if I needed to find something fast, I would not open all the folders until I found the file, I would just use a search function).
And I too have had the forced closes, black screen when opening it until I close the process, but that I can forgive of an... alpha-quality release.
I'm on stock 4.3 if that makes any difference.

It's alpha, sure, and it won't be in mainline CM for a while, but it's brilliant. This is more of a functional mockup than a daily use cam. Can't wait for the final release and next things to come in CM!
Well, I will keep an eye on it, but I myself will hold off on calling it rubbish/brilliant (or anything in between) until a later release
I love the app, the way everything is set up. I am having issues (on 4.3) with force closes, and my N4 restarted twice - once after tapping on a color option, and again when I tried to switch to Picsphere mode. But not again after the first two times.
It's crazy quick when snapping (non-HDR) pics, and I'm a sucker for nice animations, so I love the one this camera has. I really, really cannot wait until a beta, then a full, release is available. It's certainly heading in the right direction!
Works on 4.3 running cm 10.2 (JWR66V)

Introduction: Half-assed truths
I agree that CMera does not play well with HALO, but I don't agree with your second comment. Your screen caps show a very vague idea of what is actually eating your RAM. It might have something to do with the three simultaneous downloads/downloaded files (which might also be app updates) in your notification bar.
Results; and Why You're Always Wrong and I'm Always Right
For a slightly more rigorous exploration of RAM usage for the app CMera, refer to Figure 1. Strangely, the app in question is only visible in Cached Processes, not Running Services. Both apps were open simultaneously and could be swapped in and out of activity with no lag in launch or usage.
Figure 1
For even more rigorously collected evidence, please refer to Figure 2. Upon a fresh boot, my device had 1241MB of RAM unused.
Figure 2
Following three photos (8MP, 100 quality) and a precisely 60 sec video (1080p, 20 Gbps, 192 kbps audio), my device dropped to 1187MB of unused RAM (Figure 3).
This is a difference of (1241MB - 1187MB =) 54MB. No where close to the (680MB - 197MB =) 487MB purported by BlackElvis79's screen caps
