I am in a market with AT&T "HD Voice" and my mom's new iPhone 6 does make calls over VoLTE. It's pretty neat. I am wondering if the AT&T version of the Note 4 will have the ability to make and receive calls over LTE?
I've been wondering that same thing. Would be a nice future proof option to have. I can't find anywhere on AT&T's site to confirm that it does.

I'm thinking they could add the capability in a future software update. Hopefully it has it out of the box. We'll see. I wonder if download booster will work too.
I work at AT&T. Yes the Note 4 will support VoLTE as well as LTE-A which are both in the near future.

HD deployment is kinda slow for AT&T considering pretty much all carriers are way ahead as far as coverage.

Possibly. With T-mobile refarming their network to use the 1900 band, all newer T-mobile phones are pentaband. AT&T will never use the 1700 AWS band which t-mobile currently uses, so it is not included in the phone. The only way that the AT&T version will work on T-mobile is if Samsung mass produced the versions together to save money (which is very possible).

Yeah that's what it looks like. I was comparing the specs from tmobile.com and att.com and couldn't tell that there exists much difference.
Do you happen to have some links to the engadget/giz article?

Not home right now so I cant find it in my history, but this article should help.
theverge.com/2012/10/25/3554328/t-mobile-galaxy-note-ii-lte-support
"Samsung's Galaxy Note II has been announced for multiple US carriers, but T-Mobile's version of the device contains an interesting surprise: hardware support for LTE. As noted by AnandTech, T-Mobile's variant is essentially the same hardware as AT&T's, including support for LTE. Of course, T-Mobile doesn't yet have an LTE network launched for the NoteII to run on, but it does plan to have it by the end of 2013. The big question, then, is whether the Note II will support it — T-Mobile's answer is yes, but with caveats:"
So, What did the carrier do to this device?
In this thread, let's list the things we find that makes the T-Mobile version of the SGS4 unique from other versions...
Obviously the radios, but what else?
Anything special? Good? Bad? Enabled? Disabled?
It works best only on T-Mobile.
It have a shiny T-MOBILE logo on the back and it's only made for t-mobile sgs4:good:
is our version unlocked?

Wait, the T-Mobile version has FM radio, or are you referring to the SIM? Also, the T-Mobile one has an imprinted logo on the device?
How about wifi calling and HD Voice on T-mobile. Also, extra bands 1700/1900 AWS?? I think this means that we can take our phones to ATT and use their entire network (LTE, 4G, etc), but ATT phones can't use all of T-Mobiles...at least for now.

Is it still only 8.8GB available on the device? That's a huge chunk coming from 13 or whatever on the 16gb S3.
Either way, I'll probably be getting the S4 soon... I'm still going to wait and see what comes of the Snapdragon 800 and what Google and/or Motorola have in the pipes but if T-Mobile gets LTE live in Denver before that (which it doesn't seem likely), I will probably get an S4. I am extremely relieved that its not locked like the at&t version!
Pentaband - Awesome.
Bootloader unlocked - Awesome.
Wifi Calling - Awesome.
CM coming if TW gets boring and laggy.
T Mobile logo on back - Not good but can be replaced by a different back cover.

Hello All-
My Tmobile 6 Edge will be arriving tomorrow- Just curious if I ever decided to switch to ATT would the phone be able to take advantage of all the bands with ATT? Or would I be missing out on a couple?
Thank you for letting me know!

Thats what most of us have done. I paid my device in full and they refuse to unlock it until I have been a T-mobile customer for 40 days.
OP - the T-Mobile edge lacks support for LTE bands 29 & 30 which you'll only need in a very heavily populated area. In most situations, the T-mobile edge will work great on AT&T.

The issue is that T-Mobile doesn't seem to know HOW to Unlock their own phone. At least that's what they're telling me. Supposedly, they may not have the instructions until after the 10th when the phone officially launches.

That's the thing. you have had tmobile for a while so unlocking it isnt an issue. that app checks how long your line has been active. i just activated mine to get the phone. sucks. i may end up switching to tmobile anyways. still deciding..
I want to buy a T-mobile s6 off craigslist (for $600 rather than $670+tax from T-mobile or $700 tonight only for an international version), but these posts are getting me scared. I also have no intention of starting up service with T-mobile. If I find a friend (or a seller) who is a loyal T-mobile customer, would I be able to unlock it in a timely fashion? Also, what specifically would the process be?
It will work on AT&T but the T-Mobile variant has fewer bands available.
The T-Mobile variant will have all bands with the exception of 20, 29, and 30.

Any idea if those missing bands are important or not?
I'd can't say that they are not important, but they do not account for the bulk of what you'll generally use. My understanding is they are going to be used in future high traffic areas, but my knowledge is pretty limited.
I can tell you that I have no LTE issues with my T-Mobile Note 4 which pulls generally the same speeds as my AT&T S6 edge side by side.
I'm in a bit of a predicament regarding purchasing my two S6 Edges. I've been on my two S4s for two years and got a Best buy protection plan for them which ends next month. Lucky for me the plan junked out and I'm getting two Bestbuy gift cards for the original value of my phones. The thing that sucks is they don't sell T-Mobile phones, or at least the T-Mobile S6 edge. I was leaning towards getting two At&t versions of the phone and unlocking them. However, I am not sure if features like VoLte(Voice over LTE). If I'm not mistaken LTE should work but I'm not to familiar with the At&t Edges frequency bands and Tmobiles network bands. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

See attachments for bands supported by both AT&T and T-Mobile variants. If you're asking if both variant support VoLTE, they do.
The AT&T variant appears to covers all T-Mobile LTE bands but does not seem to cover the 1700 band.
Check threads on previous AT&T Galaxy models on T-Mobile.
I wish I could give you better clarity on using an AT&T device on T-Mobiles network, but I just haven't done it. I've only done it the other way around. I can tell you that I have done this for several generations of Galaxy releases and the results in performance has only been subpar on one occasion. I think that was the Note 2 or Note 3. I don't remember which one right now, but the data was just a little slower at times. This isn't what you're trying to do anyways.
I hope that help a little.

I'm assuming it'll work similar as to how the S7 Edge did where you could ODIN the carrier specific software to the phone in order to get those bands to work. As for CDMA compatibility I have yet to try my Tmobile S7E with the Sprint software and attempt to register it on their network.

How can I know that t mobile s8 + will work with CDMA network? I called T mobile customer service twice they said they have no idea :silly:
I love tmo, but I don't buy phones from them anymore. Bought an S8+ on Verizon. Then popped my tmo sim in and it's all good to go. Vzw and tmo capable. Data speeds are faster on tmo around my house, but everywhere else the vzw sim outpaced it.

T-Mobile supports VoLTE and VoWiFi on compatible phones like my Nokia 7.1. Sadly you can only confirm a phone is compatible by entering an IMEI and I don't want to buy this phone just to have to return if it's not supported.
As you can see my version of the phone is FN, but I have VoLTE (Right upper corner).
But are you ok T-Mobile's US network? If not, you can't answer my question.
