[Q] GPS not working with any custom ROMs - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I cannot seem to get a good GPS fix on my Desire HD with any of the latest custom ROMs (which apparently have GPS working). I have tried most of the Kitkat 4.4.x ROMs and some of the Jellybean 4.3.x with no success (from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002349). I have run GPS test on all ROMs I have tried and only get 2 or 3 satellites max. I know it isn't a hardware problem, as using this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840040 I get a lock on 2-3 satellites within about 5 seconds and lock onto about 10 satellites after a minute or so.
H-Boot info:
*** LOCKED (OOW) ***
ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-2.00.0029
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.17.14.11_M
eMC-boot
Recovery info:
PhilZ Touch 6.25.0
Clockworkmod v6.0.4.7
I have also tried the AGPS patch which is available, which has done nothing in helping me find any satellites.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help me.

The problem could be your hboot version. As long as you are radio S-OFF try to update your hboot to the latest.
You can check here how to upgrade your hboot.

Thanks for getting back to me.
I have updated hboot to 2.00.0029 as you said, and still not getting any GPS fix at all, is it worth trying to update my radio? I know that is quite a risky procedure.

I have a relatively often after flashing when you launch GPS. I did so :
- Be provided with navigation program
- Gested phone into the open somewhere in half an hour and everything was earned ... Later, searching for satellites came almost instantly.

Sorry, I don't really understand what you mean. I have run the GPS test app from google play and I get no satellites, even if I leave it running for quite a while and outside.

It's a good idea to update your radio too.If you are not sure about what is the right radio for you to flash you could also flash an RUU to upgrade it.Untill you are radio S-OFF you won't have any problem.
You can check those threads to find the right radio for you:
[RADIO+RIL] New radio 12.69.60.29_26.17.14.11 (Look below for archive)
[RADIO] HTC Desire HD Radios [PD98IMG.zip] (Updated: 7 Sept 2011)

Thanks, I will have a read and give that a go.
I have updated my radio to the latest version, I now get a fix on a couple of satellites, but it is a lot worse than with the older ROM I tried.

[Q] Won't flash kernel

I have tried to flash kkernel v6, v11 and OCbuzz.
But every time when I go to about phone in settings it says the default firmware.
when I am in the bootloader it says
"ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF
H-BOOT-0.85.02.08_M
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.03.02.08_M
eMMC-boot"
It also says the time but I didn't think I'd need to say that.
I've only had the phone since christmas, so i'm still a noob, but I have no idea how to make it work. I borrowed a friends laptop to use the kernel update utility tool version 0.8
I am using the leedroid HD v1.3a rom.
someone please help me.
You need ENG S-OFF for the Kernel Update Utility to work, as it says in the requirements.
With ship S-OFF you can only flash via ClockworkMod, so you have two options: use CWM, or get yourself ENG S-OFF.
Kernel update don't show in the bootloader. What you are looking at is the radio version.
You need to boot the phone and then go settings>about phone>software and it will show which kernel you are running there.

Why is that different?
ENG S-OFF comes with engineering bootloader, which allows to issue fastboot commands to the bootloader through USB.
Oh, thanks
I didn't know FASTBOOT USB was only available from the ENG HBOOT .
Well actually it is available in SHIP hboot, too, but it just does not allow the user to do much

I know it doesn't. I was only saying those things because I wasn't sure if all the pre-requisites were correct.

Here is my advice you have stated at bottom of your post your running leedroid 1.3a don't waste your time trying to flash the kernel as leedroid is built on 1.72 and you will be back on here ask long why your mic doesn't work or something else as there is no kernel compatible with the 1.72 as of yet HTC have not released it so your better of just getting Eng s-off and flashing the recommended radio from leedroids first post till a compatible kernel is available
From England with leedroid dhd techo!

Haha, after I read your post I checked and my mic only works when I am taking a video. :s XD
I took a backup of my phone when it was stock if I restore that will my phone go back to how it was ? I used rom maneger.

why cant i update my radio?

hi,
i've been trying to update my radio.
a while ago i flash back to a stock orange rom so i could do s-off which seemed to go ok.
since then i have tried various ways (AMT 1.1 & 1.2 and Android control) to upgrade from radio from 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M to 12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2 as recommended by mike for his Android revolution ROM.
everytime i do it, the phone boots into fastboot and appears to load the new radio, the phone re-boots and everything tells me its been done successfully, but when i check the version reported in settings hasnt changed.
i checked by going into fastboot myself and it reports "ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF " which should confirm that the s-off has worked and i can flash a new radio.
can anyone confirm that i've done it right, or am i missing something obvious?
many thanks
To flash radios via fastboot you need ENG S-OFF.
You also should have Radio S-OFF.
Check these threads ENG S-OFF & Radio S-OFF
ahh, sorted now
many thanks
You need ENG S-OFF in order to flash your radio. Just use the search form and you will find a 1-Click-Tool in the forums.
I did that yesterday and all worked fine
All right. U need Eng OFF and S OFF.
I did it with Easy S-Off software and flashed radio with QFP.

[Q] Can't update to 1.32.405.6

Hi there, I have a question about the OTA update.
Well I can't update to the 1.32.405.6 version(18.1MB), yes i know its it has been released a while back cause I didn't needed the update then. When it downloads the update goes fine, it restarts then boots up, but then the update status bar is very fast and then shows a droid with a orange exclamation mark and can only be rebooted by removing the battery. I don't have active auto kill app or what so ever. Has someone else encountered the same problem maybe a while back? I've rooted my phone with the first available root for this model but never flashed a new rom. Ty. Z
What firmware are you currently running?

what do you want exactly?
1-obtain solution for this problem? or
2-flash another rom? (also it solves your problem SURE )
IF YOU HAVE YOUR DEVICE ROOTED, you can do a backup of your apk with titanium backup.. and flash a recovery from Rom manager, then do full wipe (factory reset, caché and dalvik) and try.
maybe something went badly when you updated your device...
but i think the better thing that u can do its flash a CUSTOM ROM
also all are updated (1.32xxx its sooo older mate) you can choose between several roms in dev´s section.it´s only my advise

Well my first thought was only solve the problem(in this topic).
Of course I want to flash a new cooked rom. But I'm afraid I would do it wrong because my CID says: HTC_E11 instead of 111111.
Thats wy I just wanted the update.
This is what my recovery looks like:
ACE PVT ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85.2007 (PD9810000)
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.03.02.15_M3
eMMC-boot

I would be very happy if you could help me

Little guidance requested

Hi there! I've done quite some ROM flashing on my HTC Sensation. Now my girlfriend has an old Desire HD which has been running ARHD 6.3.3 ever since she bought it of a friend of ours. It's running really poorly and has quite some issues.
I want to flash the newest ViperDHD on her device. But after reading some of the DHD forums I really still have no clue on where to start
It seems I'm S-off (see attached screenshot of haboot) but do I have the right hboot, RIL, radio, kernel or whatever? What are the latest versions of those?
Should I downgrade to 1.32.405.6 WWE as I read here?
I have no idea if the device came shipped with GB.. How can I figure that out?
I would really appreciate it if someone could offer me a little guidance here. I have attached screenshots of the current state of the device. Where should I go from here to get everything to the latest versions and give this DHD a second life. (I might even replace the cracked screen if get it right)
EDIT: ARHD 6.3.3 has Android version 2.3.5 and Sense 3.0
I see there are 2 different kinds of S-OFF on DHD (Eng and Radio). What is the difference and how can I tell which one I'm at now?
Couldn't wait so went ahead and just flashed the ROM as I normally would. All seems ok. Apparently no special firmwares/RIL/hboot's are needed?

Most of the rom is already included all the libs needed to supprt the hrdware.. If you have no problem in coverage etc, there is no need to flash ril/radio.. Besides, ril is only for sense based rom..

As with every other "im stuck at the htc logo" (doesn't any one read any other threads any more) you need to flash the boot.img manually in fastboot.

[Q] DHD Radios On Inspire 4G

Hello XDA !!
I'm a noob and new to the community so please answer me accordingly
OK. I have an HTC Inspire 4G sim unlocked before being rooted (my brother unlocked it i don't know how) . And i've rooted it using the AAHK2 since the original AAHK is down (Got it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2367322 ). now I'm using the Schutzhund AOKP kitkat 4.4.2 link :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2631711
Since i have signal disconnections sometimes and bluetooth speed issues i think i should install another radio to my inspire
my question is : Can I install Desire HD's radio on my phone ? I'm not a resident of the US and I'm from North Africa (near enough to europe ( france))
My Radio baseband is 12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M
Which radio would you guys recommend ??
my bootloader says:
Code:
**** UNLOCKED ****
ACE PVT ENG S-OFF RL
HBOOT-0.85.2425
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.14.04.28_M
eMMC-boot
Cheers !!!!!
