Date on battery. - LG Optimus G Pro

Not been been here in awhile. Stock unrooted
There is a date on the back of the battery that came with my phone from AT&T, it's 2014/02/4. There's little (I'm guessing) Korean characters beside it, and I can't read it. Does anyone know what it means?
Thanks in advanced!
Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk

I just looked at my battery and can see a date too. That's most likely the manufacturing date. What it means is kind of obvious, but what it can be used for is factory recalls (ex, all batteries with model number xxxx manufactured between dates mm.dd.yyyy and mm.dd.yyyy) or when it may be time for a new battery. Stuff like that.
The Korean (yes, it's Korean lol) characters most likely just say something like "manufactured." I'm nog sure since I don't know Korean.

It's most likely when you need a new one, or the manufactured date. I was thinking I need a new battery is why I'm wondering. I just got this phone in May. Normal consistent use the whole time..and stupid fast battery drain all of a sudden.

[Q] How to check minutes used in dialer?

Hey guys I am getting new gnex tomorrow hoping the postal service will come quick , had so many problems with current gnex I think the phone will just die in matter of time.
Anyway I remember when I first got current gnex there was this command you put in dialer and it showed how many minutes were used on the phone
it had some * and # signs I just cant not find which one it is.. if someone can let me know which one it is so I can see how "like-new" my new replacement will be.
If you have tmobile.. It's #646#

not minute balance check lol, and I am on Verizon
it was one of those secret codes that samsung uses in their phones
It'll be refurbished. Deal with it lol. You cant request a different replacement if you get it and somehow determine its been used too much.
Also, its not like minutes is a good measure of how old or used a phone is...

Good point wanted to ask my old phone was made in china this one is made in korea which ones are suppose to be better? thanks!
Pretty sure you won't find anything because, even when there is such a code, the amount of minutes will be reseted after flashing a new firmware, which is the first thing the support does if they fix a used phone for the market.

Battery swollen, Sprint rep said due to ICS update, phone requires hard reset?

-Rooted phone running AOKP D710 for about the past 3 months
My phone battery has been dying and giving the wrong charging information for the past 2 weeks. I noticed yesterday that it was swollen, which would explain the situation. Took the phone to the local Sprint store today, and told the rep what was going on. I was given a new battery (watched them unseal it from the plastic) for free. He asked me if I had taken the update to ICS and I said yes He then asked me if I hard reset the phone, b/c ICS throws off the voltage if you don't hard reset. Told him yes to that, as well He said that they've had to replace ~80 batteries in the past week b/c of it.
Just an FYI....
That would be cool, except that a Jellybean update does not exist yet. Goes to show how misinformed the store reps can be. Are you sure they didn't mean ICS?

No problem. I think they are seeing a large influx of batteries because they are just due to be replaced. Most of these phones are at least a year old now. If they were running ICS from day one, and there months later it happened, I would tend to agree. As it stands, I think it is just a coincidence coupled with high draw on our Asian made batteries.

Actually I think I can say it is an ICS issue. Though I will have to say that I was told roughly the same thing by my store rep 4 weeks ago. And now that 4 weeks, and a hard reset later my new battery is already starting to discharge fast and charge fast again. I did a hard reset the day I got the new battery 4 weeks ago. I did not restore apps only TXT messages. I let the play store app do it's thing and get my phone close to normal as well as sync.
For the first week and a half I was getting 22 hours out of a single charge with 2+ hours screen on time. Charging the phone was taking roughly 4-5 hours from a dead 2% battery.
Today I am getting 12-14 hours with 1 hour screen on and I can go from 2%-99% in about 40 min. Once it gets to 99% the battery hangs there for almost and hour then finally hits 100%. This new battery looks to be going down the same path the old one did in roughly the same amount of time as I was running ICS leaks most of the time. I may just drop back to GB see how the battery goes and what for this new leak of JB to be released. Not sure but something is up.
And to add to it, my last battery would show "charging" or "spikes" in the battery screen, this one is doing that again. I'll attach a pic in a few min.

I also had one of the batteries replaced - for the older phone. Both have been rocking ICS since the spring, only the older battery has failed. Having seen this before on other devices beyond phones I respectfully disagree; if anything this may be a QC issue for these batteries. May be interesting to see if they were used on any other device and see how those are doing as well.
Know that they did push the h/w more with ICS but don't know of any app that tracks battery draw... that would be interesting to see if available.
Also, since you are more than likely running a custom rom the kernel and other factors can create charging issues. Then we have the mystery that has been with us since Gingerbread that every single phone reacts and performs differently under nearly an identical setup. Of course your situation could be a hardware issue as well. No easy way to say for sure except by going back to GB for a while (assuming your battery isn't already defective).

I agree with both of you guys and even said I don't know but something is up. My concern is that I am out of my warranty so another battery means out of pocket. So whether it is a bad battery from the get go or the ROM I am not going to want to pay for a new battery.
BUT.... I just seen that the new JK23 modem fixes the mute call issue in JB so I am going to ODIN the TAR then the new modem and root it. If I still have battery issues I'll use my 8 bucks a month service plan to get a new phone. But yea this new battery is already starting to go downhill and regardless of the reason it sucks!

TEP will cover battery replacement for free according to Sprint.
Battery warranty through Sammy is apparently 18 months according to recent posts on other threads.
Either way should be able to replace it for low or no cost - low possibly being a cheap hold-over-while-main-is-replaced battery.
I've always said it was ICS. People don't want to believe tho. Anyways a co-worker at my job got the E4GT about a month and a half ago running ICS already and she told me she's having battery issues and that she's going back to iPhones. I can honestly say since ICS this phone is more prone to over heat than it did back on gingerbread.

Best thing I can say is that thankfully it seems JB is coming sooner than later. It is the build ICS should have been and will - for anyone not needing LTE - make the phone honestly as good as a GS3 for 90% of the end user population.
Just my 2 cents.

I am out of warranty, too, but that didn't make a difference. They didn't ask me for my name, nor any of my account information. I just said, hey, check this out, showed him the battery and the guy said what he said. I was thinking the same thing as you, but I figured they'd replace it for free. Think about the alternative, the interwebs in a conniption about "Samsung SII blows up in some guys pocket, battery may be to blame." Sprint, nor Samsung, would want to deal with that debacle, much less pending class action lawsuits as it repeatedly happened....
Word of advice: check the replacement battery. I watched them cut open the plastic bag containing the single replacement battery, and when the guy gave it to me, I looked it over and noticed the water/moisture indicator was solid red. I pointed it out to the rep, who looked it over in disbelief, saying that had never happened. He then got me another battery that was fine.

actually, as a sprint technical consultant, that info is incorrect.
batteries through sprint are covered for 1 year under your manufacturer warranty. TEP in no way covers batteries.
i dont know what samsungs official stance is on battery warranty as it has never been an option for us to really say things like "go back to samsung".
all that being said, at the location i work at, we routinely give batteries at no charge regardless of warranty status or TEP.
i always recommend going into your local (corporate) sprint store and behaving politely and nicely (i never feel like helping the jackasses who come in ranting and raving) and simply asking if they could replace your battery. pizza or hot wings always helps too.

Yep they replaced the battery without question but did look up my info and told me I was out of the 1 year warranty. But I am concerned that now I am starting to see the same behavior with the new battery and am a little worried that they will charge me for another battery. It is not my setup for sure nor any apps as I keep a clean system. If it goes out and they want to charge me then I'll just go another route as there are cheaper bats out there.

how often are you charging your battery? are you leaving it in high heat areas?
there are a LOT of factors that can contribute to this issue.
i would also be leary of "cheaper" batteries. stock or oem batteries have built in circuit boards that communicate with the device and software and often times, the "cheaper" batteries are prone to leaving out these failsafes that are built in.
quick basics:
DO:
• Charge when convenient, but don’t forget to charge routinely. Once a day is usually enough. “Thin” phones especially may need to be charged daily.
• Minimize talking while charging. The PA (power amplifier) heats the phone while talking, and the charging also heats the phone. Heat is hard on the battery.
• Bring battery to a charge level of one bar on charging indicator if not used for a long time, not to all three bars (particularly at higher temperatures).
• Store in a cool, dry place, ideally.
• Store extra battery in a cool, dry place with one bar on charging indicator.
Understand that data usage and features such as Bluetooth will require more frequent charging than in the days of voice-only phones.
DON’T:
• “Deep cycle”…run battery all the way down before recharging.
• Keep in hot car.
• Immerse in liquid.
• Freeze.
• Shop for a “miracle charger,” which doesn’t exist for Lithium-ion batteries.
• Buy an extra battery until it will be used.
i'd be happy to send you a replacement battery if it was needed but sadly they frown upon putting explosive materials in the mail...
but if you are in the houston/katy texas area, feel free to drop in.

got one bro but after the 160 update (which i updated yestrday) i notice there is a little bit of drain in battery..and DO YOU KNOW HOW TO DISABLE FAST CHARGE PLZ ?
I've had a lot of trouble with mine, I'm running stock software with issues like dropped phone calls, MMS pictures won't go through, email notification will not delete after message has been deleted.
I've had mine for six and a half months. While it mostly works, when it is not broken. Am in the process of my second return (first was because 1/3rd of the screen went black, now I've got "ghost touches".
The RMA process is atrocious, the cross ship program is "delayed" for over a week.
Fifteen percent of the time I've had my phone it hasn't worked. The upshot is you need a backup phone if you actually depend on your phone.

So true, but it's BS to have to do it. there's been many, many complaints on this phone. I have a case open right now and it's taking so long to get things going. I wish now I had bought the Google Nexus I was thinking in the first place.
I've been following the Nexus 5x forums, thinking I might get one for my wife. With all the complaints about lag over there, I'm pretty glad I've got a Zenfone 2 instead.

Is not possible to switch via software the data from Sim1 to Sim2. It instead necessary to physically invert the sim card position as the data only works on SIM1.
This was actually the issue i faced. It is worth buying if you don't need to switch data on the other SIM.

Here's my two cents. This phone is absolutely amazing. There's only one issue with it out of the box: The bloatware.
ASUS shot themselves in the foot when they released this phone. The bloat is absolutely abysmal and tanks the battery down like crazy.
If you do plan to get the phone, do so with intentions of atleast putting a custom ROM on it; otherwise, the phone is passable, imo. Rooting and uninstalling bloat manually only causes further headache and breakage of the Stock ROM.
You can take my opinion as a grain of salt, however. Whatever floats your boat, you know.

A few issues with my G4

I just got a VS986 to use with a GSM carrier etc. Anyway I updated it to the lastest MM 24c and not sure if its the phone or the software as I did not test 13B that it came with.
At times its a little sluggish in say the Pokemon Go app once open for a few minuets. And also it has random freezing to the point that the phone will actually just reboot as it cannot recover from it. And battery life is not so great, not sure but that could be the actual battery itself.
Keep in mind this phone is a 2nd line and it mostly just sits so noticing the issues is a big concern considering I barely use it.
So im guessing its just best to go back to 13B, and still possible from 24c correct?
Thanks!

A vs986? I was under the impression that the vs986 was CDMA for verizon. But you mention GSM? AT&T uses GSM. But anyway onto your problem. Your problem sounds like the phone may be overheating which is a known problem for the earilier G4's. The best way to know for certain is take out your battery and look at the sticker under the battery for the Serial number. Look at the first 3 digits and reply back with what they are. examples 506,508,509,510 etc etc etc. If the number is below 511 EXPECT THE PHONE TO DIE!..... Originally 510 was supposed to be on the safe side. But I have a 510 that did the bootloop just 6 monthes after buying it brand new... I may have gotten a faulty one though. But for certain anything 508 or lower to my knowledge is GUARANTEED TO DIE. So make backups if you haven't already. As for going back to 13B you can try but I don't think it will make a difference when it comes to the phone shutting down. About the only reported benefit of downgrading is battery life. I personally liked MM much better. Just my opinion though.

Yeah I know all about the bootloop issues, (I run the G4 back to stock guide) But I haven't owned a G4 since November. I have desided to return it yeah it had overheating issues, but the random reboot issues occured when phone was not being used. Running 13B was AWFUL it would go into what I thought was the forever bootloop for about 10 min and then randomly bootup haha. MM was not so bad besides the random reboots for no reason.
Yes I was using the VS986, The Verizon Variants are factory unlocked works perfectly fine with a GSM carrier. The 4 I bought back in November worked just fine as well. With no the exception with the MM update the annoying invalid sim icon is now gone.
I ordered an HTC One M9 to see how well it goes and once again went with the Verizon variant due to being cheaper and factory unlocked.

Original Note 7

Hey guys, so....
I don't know if I'm screwed or what. I have an original notes of a not a replacement 1. I got it about a week before The 1st recall. I returned to Verizon about 4 times in the past month and a half to try to get a replacement device [ with the new battery or whatever they did to the replacements ]. However every visit I was told they didn't have my color, gray, in stock. Now it's two months out and there's a total recall on it and I have an original device. I like the phone and wanted to keep it. What the heck do I do now? I've read through some of the threads about keeping the replacement note 7 or not, but I haven't seen anybody with an original one. Is your anybody else with an original note 7 that's going to keep it? And do you guys think that development will continue after all that's happened?
TLR - I still have an original note 7, not replaced (they never had my color), Do you guys think it's safe to keep it and do you think development will continue or die off early ?
Thanks for any advice. Man I really like this stylus ....

I'm in the exact same situation as you. I still have the original model Note 7 and have tried multiple times to exchange it for the "safe" model. At this point given the evidence, I believe that both models are equally safe (relatively). New models and old models catching on fire combined equaled around 90 cases out of about 2,000,000. I'm not sure if the failure rate on the updated models went down, but I feel that failure rate in general is about on par with other devices.
I have read about Apple phones in the past catching on fire. The difference is Samsung tried to be super responsible in this situation by taking ownership and the media and such has definitely exacerbated the situation. Apple never took ownership of any of the battery failures that happened with their devices, and mostly blamed it on the user using 3rd party accessories and such.
I may be wrong, but I believe the issue was blown out of proportion. I'm not saying the phone is safe, but I'm also not saying that this phone is way more unsafe than any of the others.
So, given the statistics and history of the two different models, if you disable fast charging on the device I believe the two different models are on equal ground as far as failure rates go. Which are higher than they should be but still fairly low.

. New models and old models catching on fire combined equaled around 90 cases out of about 2,000,000.
I may be wrong, but I believe the issue was blown out of proportion .

I even thought it was less than that and I'd take those odds, I don't think theyre too bad . However, I did think that my battery was kind of sub-par; this note 7 sucks down quite a bit of juice. I was hoping at the replacements had a better battery or longer-lasting one or something ????.

Is v1 any more prone to failure than v2 though? They sourced the battery from a different manufacturer for v2 to try to head off the problem and there were still fire reports. I'm thinking that the failure rate is probably the same as any other phone, only with Samsung trying to be super careful by calling a recall, actually put themselves under a microscope in the media. They even said that they could not replicate the issue in their labs. V2 was just hoping that the battery was the problem. Which it seems that it wasn't.

they had a lot more reports with v1.. I think it was 90+ then v2 I think is under 10... not sure if time is the culprit or not however
