Just looked it's pretty obvious. The sub text describes your problem almost exactly.
Hint: it starts with "prevent"

Lol opps..thanks
Hello I have 4 perfect circles going vertically on the right half of my screen, they are about a half inch diamenter. They have an outline of about a 1/10th of an inch outline.
Anyone else have this issue? I tried to take a screenshot but this is a screen issue so it doesn't come out on the pictures. Ill try to get a picture.
Any input on what they could be??
They are more easily viewed on whote backgrounds or any light color background

First ive heard of that. Probably need to try to send it back for exchange.

Did you have an image on screen for an extended period of time? This sounds like a burn in. It happens on these screens when something is on the screen without moving or any changes. It just burns in. If you go thru some of the settings on the phone there is an option that helps against this.

I have nothing of that shape 4 circles...

If I use my alarm clock the stock Android one and dim the screen so the large clock shows will that lead to a burn in? It's something I would always do with my old lcd but now I'm scared with this phone
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Are you using a screen protector? If so, try the burn in test without that on and see if those circles are still there. It might just be the screen protector.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
The four circles may be correlated to the four fingertips of your left hand. Could it be that the screen protector is damaged with some kind of oil deposits? Have any KFC lately
I have the same thing. You only see it when you look at the phone from the side... so I don't mind at all

Yes leaving the screen on all night with the clock can cause burn in.
Sent from my SGH-T999
Wait.... so any image in the background can cause burn-in on these screens? That's some BS....I always have a background with images on for a good period of time....
Its always something.

I am noticing that if I am reading an email within the Gmail app and swipe left or right to view the previous or next message I get a counterclockwise circle indicating the message is downloading but it never does. If the message was previously downloaded I can swipe into it fine.
Anyone else?

So weird, same thing happening to me... I hadn't noticed it. I think you legitimately found a bug.
I think it is a bug. The images are actually downloaded in most cases, but just don't show until you back out of the screen and quickly re-enter or force another action that happens to make them appear.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Happens to me too. Maybe try the latest 4.2 gmail leak or whatever it was?

I can also confirm this happens to me... but I found that turning the phone from portrait to landscape fixes it. Weird.
Same thing here
Same thing here. It's annoying because there's no alternative (like a button or similar).
Have to go back and click next e-mail every time...

What exactly is the problem? I'd be glad to test to see if it even exists, but have yet to notice anything.

I don't see a problem here. Just turn off notification solves the issue and no need to install anything

You silly. No one wants their screen light to come up when you get a notification. You want the notification led to go on when getting a notification. That is what the notification led is for.
The individual wants notification without their screen light turned on.
I don't know why some applications turn on the screen light some or all the time when getting a notification. I had a few apps turn on the screen light when getting a notification. But you may want to try out "Light Flow" in the Play Store. See if that helps.

If you read my post then you would know that I knew that. I was talking to the other person.
Note - Light Flow is not compatible with Note 2 right now, because you will have to disable S Pen Air View function. Sorry, my bad. My idea was to change the application's, that is causing this issue, behavior to only use LED Notification.
This is usually cause by an app that has a background process running to be notified when you do something like send & receive and SMS, MMS, etc... This is one of many reasons why I use AutoStarts application to manage background processes. This app most likely is an app that your carrier, Sprint, added to your Samsung Galaxy Note 2. These apps like this loves to have background processes being notified when you send or receive SMS and MMS. This is most likely the app/s that caused this issue of your screen light to light up for a moment. Stopping that background process is the best solution.
My question to you is: What did you change within those files that solved this problem?
My request to you is: Write to us what you changed within each of those files, with the name of each file, to solve this problem.
I have go-pro-sms .... and it has a setting to turn off the screen coming on .. Blahhhhhhhhhh

I got my SM-P601 about 2 weeks ago, and it has been working perfectly since then, until last night. I left my note 10.1 with my father and left, when I got back, it was acting really weird. When I press the power button, you hear that sound that it woke up, but the screen doesn't power up until about 2 seconds later, it performs normally afterwards. Tried rebooting, no luck. It still gets weirder, so I leave it for an hour or so, when I try later, the screen no longer powers up (I don't know it's that or it has failed, crashed or something) but it is obviously powered up because when I press the power button, you hear that usual sound, and the same thing when you unlock it, I navigated through pages and even opened up some games, it's all working, except there's no screen, just plain black. The bigger problem is, I rooted it, so no warranty for me.

If you can get to recovery power+volume up , then wipe data & reboot .
I tend to agree, factory reset is worth trying.
Alright I'm gonna try that, but I'm gonna need help navigating through the menu. After I power it off, I press the volume up and power and release the power button after about 5 seconds right? (I can't tell when the samsung logo shows up). The thing I wanna make sure of, the factory reset option, is it the third or fourth option? I am not sure if it is the same as my GS4. The confirmation afterwards is the eighth option. Can someone confirm that?

It`s the fourth line " wipe data/factory reset.
Okay I think I successfully factory reset it. However, nothing's changed. The weird thing is, the touch screen is working, it is functioning properly and I can select apps etc... but I just can't see anything.

Just because your Knox flag has been tripped, does not automatically mean your warranty has been completely voided. Samsung is going to have to prove that your rooting the tablet is what caused the screen failure.
Were you running a custom ROM or kernel? If not, then there is no way I can think of that simply rooting the tablet caused the screen failure.
Now that's not to say your warranty isn't voided for another reason such as the tablet was dropped et al.
Just thinking outside the box... Did you happen to have Screen Filter or a like application installed at the time your screen went black? If so, someone may have adjusted the brightness setting to zero and that could be causing the problem.
Good luck.
I hope that's the case, can they even tell it is rooted without the screen being on?
To answer your questions, I haven't installed a custom ROM neither a screen filter app, I tried adjusting the brightness multiple times so one of the tries must have actually hit the correct place, still no effect though.
If nothing works, I think my only option is to take it back to samsung.

ya you should try samsung .at this point it wont hurt .just tell them screen went out and go from there. don't mention root .unless they ask.they will be able to tell anyway.this should be covered under warranty.good luck. let us know how it goes.
I had the exact same issue with this tablet.
The problem is that the backlight is dead.
If you look closely at the screen under the light, you'll be able to see some icons and letters.
In my case, Samsung did not cover the warranty because my device was not purchased in Canada and it was rooted.
I mean Canada didn't even have the device at the time.
Long story short, I did something bad to get my tablet "repaired".
But I blame Samsung for having such a crappy warranty service.
Yeah I think I'll just take it to them. I'll let you know what happens.

Just a wild guess but I suppose you could go buy a new one from a retailer here in Canada, swap out the faulty one for the new one and return it claiming it's faulty (I doubt any of them check the SN on the back and the one on the box match), or I guess you could even swap the SN on the box from the SN on the US box so it does match.
Not saying he did that, but it's the easiest way to get it "repaired"
Come to think of it you can do this for any tablet, even though this is downright fraud. So please don't.
