What exactly is the problem? I'd be glad to test to see if it even exists, but have yet to notice anything.

Well for us the screen would turn on when u receive a text message and it gets annoying..does your screen turn on when you receive a message?

I don't see a problem here. Just turn off notification solves the issue and no need to install anything

You silly. No one wants their screen light to come up when you get a notification. You want the notification led to go on when getting a notification. That is what the notification led is for.
The individual wants notification without their screen light turned on.
I don't know why some applications turn on the screen light some or all the time when getting a notification. I had a few apps turn on the screen light when getting a notification. But you may want to try out "Light Flow" in the Play Store. See if that helps.

If you read my post then you would know that I knew that. I was talking to the other person.
Note - Light Flow is not compatible with Note 2 right now, because you will have to disable S Pen Air View function. Sorry, my bad. My idea was to change the application's, that is causing this issue, behavior to only use LED Notification.
This is usually cause by an app that has a background process running to be notified when you do something like send & receive and SMS, MMS, etc... This is one of many reasons why I use AutoStarts application to manage background processes. This app most likely is an app that your carrier, Sprint, added to your Samsung Galaxy Note 2. These apps like this loves to have background processes being notified when you send or receive SMS and MMS. This is most likely the app/s that caused this issue of your screen light to light up for a moment. Stopping that background process is the best solution.
My question to you is: What did you change within those files that solved this problem?
My request to you is: Write to us what you changed within each of those files, with the name of each file, to solve this problem.

I have go-pro-sms .... and it has a setting to turn off the screen coming on .. Blahhhhhhhhhh

any help??
As for the LED, that's a known problem. Samsung screwed some things up and the creator of Light Flow is working on a fix. I believe that CM9 and CM10 don't have this problem?

The LED notifications in CM9 are actually pretty derpy at the moment.
When I was on stock, Google Voice would leave the LED on until I read my text or cleared the notification, and CM9 does the same thing too.
When I get an SMS through my regular phone number, sometimes the LED flashes, and sometimes it doesn't, it all depends.
Okay thanks for the light situation, what about the build versions? Does your match?
I see lots of people have a LED problem , I haven't even experience a problem one.

mine is same as yours. I noticed that because on my second gs3 on the box and on the plastic when you first open the case it had a stick that said UPDATED. the original one that I got in the store just had the normal $50 restocking fee sticker. the first phone i got from the store does have a different build number from the one I got from customer service online. I just thought it was because the one I picked up at the store was a 16GB and the one I ordered online was 32gb... but that shouldn't matter the build number should all still be the same right??
If you get a text or email, led should work fine. But if you use gosms or Facebook, the led doesn't blink and also uses the wrong colors. That doesn't happen to you?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
So from what I've gathered up online is that the ones that have the updated sticker has the update more for radio then anything else I do seem to have a lot better signal and data speed then the 16Gb GS3. So I guess everyone with the old build will get an update soon.

I have always (even on ICS) had a solid green notification LED when I had screen off and charging with the battery is full. Is that what you are seeing?
It's at 72% and NOT on the charger. Just sitting on my desk or wherever.....Doesn't seem to do it immediately after locking takes about 30 seconds. It only started after the update... Also turned of LED notifications of ALL kind in the settings and it still does it...
Think it's service led just letting you know you have cell coverage like some other phones

Stop screen from lighting up with every text?

My screen lights up every time i get a text for like 5 seconds. I use 20,000 texts a month. I don't want it to do it since it wastes battery and this phone has a notification LED. Is there a setting I can turn this off? Thanks in advance!
I searched everywhere and called Samsung. There is no way to stop this. I downloaded GO SMS and it works great with that. It's stupid that Samsung wouldn't think anyone might want to change this setting and build it in without forcing you to go third party.
I'm not sure if you mean the LED Indicator(the circle light that lights up by earpiece)?
Settings - Display - LED Indicator
I have this issue as well. The screen comes on when you get a text and is very annoying

Unless they have updated recently, I don't think that GO SMS is compatible with the smart notifications and direct calling.
Try Handcent. They have a lot of notification options.
You can turn off notifications in the sms app and use sms popup from the market.

I am VERY happy to say that I am in the same boat as this person. My screen does not turn on by its self when I receive a text. It did on my Note I and it pissed me the hell off. I'm not sure why this is happening to some people and not others, but I am glad I am one of the fortunate ones. Funny, as I'm typing this, I just received another text and my notification alert came on but my screen stayed off.
Ok I got a modded SecMms.apk, I need someone to test so if you want to send me a PM and I will upload you the flashable zip to try before I realease it thanks

any way to lower the brightness of the led notification?

I love the led notification, nothing like waking up in the middle of the night and looking over and knowing you don't have any notifications because the light isn't going off... but when I don't need a flashlight BECAUSE it's going off it gets annoying... I wanna be able to go to sleep if I'm ignoring it; yet have it there to know I have things to look at.
(first world problem I know)

and spare me the obvious put something on top. I want something permanent that won't subtract from the look of my phone

Just turn it off???
Sure its nice to know if you have a message from afar but really? One of the first things I did when I got my GS3 and Note 2 was go into settings/display/LED Indicator/and unselect all boxes.
i don't think you can lower the intensity, but you can turn off the notifications and us an app called NoLED. it puts a notification on your screen instead. since OLED only lights up the active pixels the drain should be any more than the notification light. i use it with my sammy droid charge that has no notification lights.
Why not just go into settings and turn on Blocking Mode?
You can set the time frame it's active. It can keep led off, notifications, phone calls etc. You can change the settings for it.
