As for the LED, that's a known problem. Samsung screwed some things up and the creator of Light Flow is working on a fix. I believe that CM9 and CM10 don't have this problem?

The LED notifications in CM9 are actually pretty derpy at the moment.
When I was on stock, Google Voice would leave the LED on until I read my text or cleared the notification, and CM9 does the same thing too.
When I get an SMS through my regular phone number, sometimes the LED flashes, and sometimes it doesn't, it all depends.
Okay thanks for the light situation, what about the build versions? Does your match?
I see lots of people have a LED problem , I haven't even experience a problem one.

mine is same as yours. I noticed that because on my second gs3 on the box and on the plastic when you first open the case it had a stick that said UPDATED. the original one that I got in the store just had the normal $50 restocking fee sticker. the first phone i got from the store does have a different build number from the one I got from customer service online. I just thought it was because the one I picked up at the store was a 16GB and the one I ordered online was 32gb... but that shouldn't matter the build number should all still be the same right??
If you get a text or email, led should work fine. But if you use gosms or Facebook, the led doesn't blink and also uses the wrong colors. That doesn't happen to you?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
So from what I've gathered up online is that the ones that have the updated sticker has the update more for radio then anything else I do seem to have a lot better signal and data speed then the 16Gb GS3. So I guess everyone with the old build will get an update soon.

With auto-brightness turned off in the display settings. Go up to the status bar with your finger and drag it left to right.

Since there isn't an LED light specifically for notifications, is there a way to make the LEDs for menu, home, back, and search light up for said notifications? It would be even better if each one lit up for specific apps so I could know why it's lighting up before I even turn on the screen.
Thanks for any help!

The closest we can get to LED notifications is BLN. You need to use a BLN compatible kernel and use the app BLN Control.

I'm trying to tweak some things on system tuner and my phone rebooted (but took a bit to turn on) my blood pressure dropped, I thought I killed my phone!
But after some reading.. it pretty much means the phone does not like those settings, change them.. right? Phone works fine now though, but I was wondering for future reference

Yeah, basically. If you are undervolting, you need to take tiny increments to make sure the phone is stable before going any further.

I found an app in the market that uses the LED for charging! All I can say is awesome. Red while charging and blue when charged. This should be standard on the Gnex. Works great!

If not i'll just try it
You could also try a program called lightflow which does all of that and more. There is a free version too.

I use Lightflow Pro and works very good on my Gnex. I can choice led color, blinking speed and duration of every notification for all programs (like Handcent SMS, WhatsApp, Gmail...). Simply the best.

So I gave it a go and it does what it says it does requires no permissions that you would find odd (only asks for vibrate because it has an option to vibrate when charged) so yeah if you don't want all the flash and extra that comes with lightflow I'd say give it a go
Awesome

Probably not much since it should only awaken the phone when you receive a notification but should lie dormant until then or run in the background like Google services.

you can't change it yourself.
red is assigned to power(charging/low power)
green for actual notifcations
blue for sound recording.

Actually you can (somewhat)...Well I did with the Handsent SMS app. Its possible to change the colors for the notifcation within that app so I'm guessing that the notifications colors only work if the app has it within the settings.

Red is the same, for power.

You silly. No one wants their screen light to come up when you get a notification. You want the notification led to go on when getting a notification. That is what the notification led is for.
The individual wants notification without their screen light turned on.
I don't know why some applications turn on the screen light some or all the time when getting a notification. I had a few apps turn on the screen light when getting a notification. But you may want to try out "Light Flow" in the Play Store. See if that helps.

If you read my post then you would know that I knew that. I was talking to the other person.
Note - Light Flow is not compatible with Note 2 right now, because you will have to disable S Pen Air View function. Sorry, my bad. My idea was to change the application's, that is causing this issue, behavior to only use LED Notification.
This is usually cause by an app that has a background process running to be notified when you do something like send & receive and SMS, MMS, etc... This is one of many reasons why I use AutoStarts application to manage background processes. This app most likely is an app that your carrier, Sprint, added to your Samsung Galaxy Note 2. These apps like this loves to have background processes being notified when you send or receive SMS and MMS. This is most likely the app/s that caused this issue of your screen light to light up for a moment. Stopping that background process is the best solution.
My question to you is: What did you change within those files that solved this problem?
My request to you is: Write to us what you changed within each of those files, with the name of each file, to solve this problem.

Is there a way to change the notification led when i get a message or missed call? Ive tied light flow and other apps buy nothing works. Btw my OG is reported
SPRINT has a habbit of having their phones built with 2 color LED's red/green. The Nexus has multis but I believe we got left out of the fun with our OG's. Maybe somebody else knows other wise but I have been unsuccesful and am sure this is the case
My HTC Hero had a single (white) color roller ball but other heros built for other companies had the multi color rollers for instance.
