[Q] LED Notifications - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Since there isn't an LED light specifically for notifications, is there a way to make the LEDs for menu, home, back, and search light up for said notifications? It would be even better if each one lit up for specific apps so I could know why it's lighting up before I even turn on the screen.
Thanks for any help!

My suggestion would be NoLED.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing, but was hoping one could take advantage of the buttons' LEDs.

The closest we can get to LED notifications is BLN. You need to use a BLN compatible kernel and use the app BLN Control.

Perfect, thanks!

I'm trying to tweak some things on system tuner and my phone rebooted (but took a bit to turn on) my blood pressure dropped, I thought I killed my phone!
But after some reading.. it pretty much means the phone does not like those settings, change them.. right? Phone works fine now though, but I was wondering for future reference

Yeah, basically. If you are undervolting, you need to take tiny increments to make sure the phone is stable before going any further.

[Q] LED notification?

Does the s2 have this option? If so where do I enable it? I hate having to keep turning on the phone to see if I missed any messages or notifications... Thanks
The T-Mobile variant does not have LED notifications. Its a bummer but it is what it is.
Edit: Solution below.

I'm sure once we have root you'll be able to use the main button LED's for notifications.

Okay, I got it to work... Now when the led shows. Is there another way to go straight to the app that the led came up for? Or do I have to dismiss it first, then power on phone?
Also, is there a way from preventing the screen to turn on/off when the message or miss call comes in... I just want the led to show, no light up
how much of a battery killer is this app? just wondering haha
Notification LEDs
Are there any notification leds on this phone? I have missed a few calls and received texts, but only found out after I powered back up from standby. I have only ever had HTC phones before, and they all had notification leds...any help would be great..TIA
Not at the moment. It would be awesome if we could make the soft keys flash to notify though!

I don't really miss the LED notification that much (although i think it would be nice to have). Having a soft key flash would be REALLY cool though

Dim the capacitive buttons??

Its probably been asked but a quick search turned up nothing.
I use screen filter at night to further reduce screen brightness but the capacitive buttons stay bright as hell. Is there any way to dim them as well???
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
If you are using Samsung dock and Desk Home app, that dims the buttons after a short while. I run cm7. But that's if you are not using the phone... there is no known way to dim them if it is in use

Lol I did this for like a month straight. Even started a thread about it, however I still would love to see them completely disabled and go all virtual in cm9.

Hmm..are these not controlled through the kernel? If they blink when activated maybe there is a way to get them to behave in inverse, like off by default and blink only when touched? I would like to see them completely disabled..wondering why this can't be accomplished..

That would be pretty awesome. I'd like to see that as a feature. I'm sure it would help save some battery, and you can *never* have too much battery
Have you suggested that to any of the kernel devs?

LED Notification without root?

I was cool with the ICS upgrade and then realized why I hated the phone when I first got it. NO LED NOTIFICATION!!!!!!
Well its minor. Is there a way to make the BLNK app to work without rooting the phone, or changing the Kernel?
And also, shame on Samsung for not even making this thing built into the dam phone or ROM. Thats why I love CM7/CM9. All those features are built in.

by chance is there an app that utilizes the soft buttons at the bottom of the phone and have them illuminate as a led replacement?

BLN but you have to be using a kernel with BLN support.

Yeah Bln works great, but for it to work you will have to dl handcent messaging and put led notification to normal in the settings....

App that turns off keyboard light

Is there an app that will turn off the keyboard lights? i know about Display > Touch Key duration. Thanks
Doubt it. Why would you want to turn off the keyboard lights?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927 using xda app-developers app
Waste of battery in daylight
Another really great reason to turn them off is so you can watch Netflix at night. Screenfilter works, as do Keyboard backlight controller and AdjBrightness.
You can change it's duration to the lowest settings which is 1.5 seconds in the settings.I did that and trust me it's hardly on. It's in settings - display - touch key light duration.

At some point I was running a battery saver that did this when I dropped below a certain percentage of battery life. It might have been Easy Battery Saver. Then again, it also could have been the built in Power Saver function. Has that been tried?
Did the last two posters even read the thread? Not only did OP say he knows how to reduce the time, I just gave the names of 3 apps that can do it and people are still posting suggestions to reduce the on time.
Yeesh. No need for the hostility. My suggestion was not for reducing the light timeout, but shutting the keyboard light off completely, as was requested. I did see that you posted some apps and I was merely suggesting another app.

Take it easy....I was simply stating that at 1.5 seconds it is hardly on and does not waste much battery.

So that you can save battery and BTW our mind is good enough to remember where the touch captive keys are...
You can use Screen Filter app to do this (just set filter to 100% and unset Enable buttons backlight checkbox)

Is this how the LED notification works when charging?

Just got my i747m s3 and I was wondering if the LED notification is working properly when charging.
LED notification when charging:
flashes red intermittently when charging
flashes green intermittently when fully charged
Is this normal?
I thought it would be solid colours during charging/charged, instead of flashing intermittently.
- stock rooted telus rom
I'm pretty sure it is not supposed to flash

He doesn't need to do that, his SIII works fine. Light Flow is an app that allows you to control the LED light. Even when disabled it sometimes does stuff in the background.
I disabled the charging LED in the options, myself. In my dark room it was enough light to keep me awake, so it had to go.
