So yeah, rooted my M8 switched to ART and it's running beautifully. Then I wanted to change my sounds since it reset to default. Nope. Can't even bring up the sound selection screen, for messages going into settings and choosing the sound option it tells me that messages has stopped working. Awesome. I thought maybe it was ART, switched back to Dalvik, same issue. So I'm thinking it's an issue with root. Anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it?
Unrooted, issue persisted, between ART and Dalvik, I'm going to try a factory restore.
Yeah.....so you know how you sometimes do stupid things? Turns out I disabled the sound picker app. Yep...

Alright I have a problem with my N7.
Putting it here since more people see this thread
So I guess my N7 restarted sometime at night and when I turned it on, I noticed that first my password lock wasnt there, nor was there a lockscreen.
Then a notification came up saying:
"Unfortunately, Google partner setup has stopped.
My notification bar, wifi, and home buttons dont work. I can force stop apps in the settings, but anytime i click clear cache it reboots.
I tried to do a factory reset and when I enter my password lock and click ok, then settings force closes. I'm not sure what to do.
I forced stopped google partner setup and gallery, those two popups came when the N7 would turn on that it wouldnt work. Now they dont come up anymore but that didnt solve anything.
Any help??
I am stock and unrooted btw. The night before this happened all I did was watch netflix
some other things to add, if i uninstall an app, it reboots and the app wont uninstall.
The notification bar actually comes down, its the other one with the toggles that doesnt.
well I was able to get into recovery mode and do a factory reset that way. Didn't know that was possible without root haha. Everything seems to be ok for now...

When stuff like that happens I get paranoid my nand or ROM is bad and do all sorts of tests lol.
I'm glad to hear that all is well again. Now root that puppy put twrp on it, make a backup and flash a good ROM lol.
I had done probably one or two too many dirty flashes, so this morning I decided to go ahead and flash and wipe data/cache. The performance increase is pretty noticeable so I'm glad I did it.
I've got about everything back the way I had it and went back to begin setting my sound profiles back up. At first, I went to set my phone ringtone setting and it wouldn't play. I found the problem was that it had kept my old profiles and found a post on XDA developers that said to delete and recreate them. So I did that and now the phone ringtone selector works perfectly.
However, now I'm going in and trying to set the notification sounds. Setting them works flawlessly (in that when the application has a notification, the correct sound plays) but there's no preview (when the list is open and I select the sound from the list- it won't play). I have set one and tested a notification from the app group and it works, but I was hoping to change some and can't listen to them.
I've cleared both caches and run fix permissions hoping for something easy but no go.
Any ideas?
I checked for OTA update on 2/6, 8:47pm and 4.4.2 was found and 'successfully' installed: HTC6500LVW_3.11.605.1_R2-2.10.605.1
Ever since, apps have been crashing on the phone like crazy. "Unfortunately, ____ has stopped." The apps that crash most often are Maps (about 5-10 sec after opening each time), Sense 5.5 and Gmail, but others that I don't use as often have done the same. The phone also now reboots itself frequently (5+ times a day).
Two other issues I've noted are (1) when returning to home screen after closing an App, it sometimes takes around 10 sec for icons to appear (possibly Sense restarting?), and (2) when I wake the phone up, the screen turns on and then I try to swipe down from the top to check notifications and the screen goes blank.
Has anyone else seen this type of instability with HTC One and KitKat? Any suggestions?
I've tried searching for a new update hoping they've fixed some of these bugs, but it tells me I'm up to date.
Have you tried clearing the cache and data for the apps that are crashing? There are no bugs like that in kk. It sounds like some data just got corrupted during the update. If wipimg the individual apps data dosent work you may have to do a factory reset or an ruu.

I'll try clearing the caches. Should I clear it for Sense though? I figured out the screen going blank when I go to swipe it, it seems to be a proximity sensor sensitivity issue. If I approach with my finger from the right (opposite the sensor), there's no issue. So it's just the sensor now picking up my finger passing over to swipe and thinking it's me putting my phone up to my face maybe?
Yeah you can clear it for sense too, but if you clear data it will wile out all the apps settings. For sense that means all the settings in the settings menu. But i dont really see what else you could do, other than a factory reset, or ruu, which will wipe everything.
Hey so my speaker phone is always on whenever I make or receive a call. I've gone through every single setting, made sure no apps are installed making it default to be on (voice recorders, GPS apps, ect) yet it is always on?
Anyone know how to fix this? Is there some app that I can install that can force it stay off unless I turn it on?
Some people say its the phone thinking its in dock mode. Is there any way to disable that?
This is driving me nuts. I've tried pulling the battery, rebooting and nothing is working.
Thanks for the help!

You shouldn't need an app to do what the phone already natively "normally" does. More than likely, some app you installed is causing your problem. Even if you disable apps to not have speaker on by default, perhaps the app cache settings are still affecting your phone.
If you're still agonizing over this problem by the time you read this... I would clear all the app cache, clear data on each installed app, disable all installed apps (force stop), and if that doesn't work, back up your data and factory reset. More than likely a factory reset will get your phone working correctly again. A pain, I know, but... better than going nuts! Good luck!
Yeah I've gone through every conceivable app that would have anything to do with my speakerphone and it hasn't helped. I'm afraid to do a factory reset because I honestly don't think it is going to fix it. I'm starting to think more and more that it is a hardware issue with the USB port and not a software issue. I may have to go to a Verizon store and see what they say. I'm sure once the guy can't figure it out he will tell me that I have to factory reset it at which point I want to make say if it doesn't fix it, I'll need a new phone.
So annoyed it's not even funny.....
UPDATE:
Ok so I still can't figure out what it is, I've cleared all data and cache on all apps (including the phone app) but nothing seems to help.
For ****s and grins I wanted to see if I plugged in my headphones what it would do. When I plugged them in and tried to make a call, this time the speakerphone button is NOT illuminated BUT.........IT STILL PLAYS THROUGH THE SPEAKER PHONE AND NOT THE HEADPHONES????
I know, mind...blown.
Now if I push the speakerphone button, it turns green (on) and the sound still comes through the speaker phone but if I push it again, it turns off and now the sound plays through the headsets.
What on earth is possibly going on??? Can the phone dialer app be corrupted? What else can I try other than a hard reset? Is there a way I can reinstall the phone dialer app?
I know you stated you looked at all the apps you could, but did you look into the S Voice settings to see if Auto start Speakerphone is enabled? Supposedly it'll be used only when S Voice is used, but who knows when something might be corrupted.
Already tried that, didn't fix it. Even tried disabling Svoice.
I also booted up in safe mode and it still was doing it so I know it isn't any installed app that I have that is doing it.
At this point I think have no choice but to do a hard reset unfortunately. SO incredibly annoying.
Well, I hope you solve the problem. At least with the hard reset you'll get a clean start. Nah... nothing good about a hard reset! Damn annoying! Let us know how you solved it once you get it going.
I recently observed that my call log does not show all the calls that I've done or received.
Since then i tried to restart the phone (HTC 10), clear Phone app cache, clear data for it and nothing seems to solve the problem.
Who else had that issue please let me know how to fix it!
Nothing was installed recently on the phone.
I've noticed something similar on all my devices over the past few years, and in my case, it's definitely related to the Extreme Call Blocker app. If you don't have any call blocker apps installed, I don't know what else to suggest other than a factory reset. You haven't mentioned, but others who would potentially help might need to know if you're on stock unrooted, and what build of the stock ROM are you on, and if rooted and flashed a custom ROM, which one and which version.
Make sure it says 'all calls' under phone book at top of screen
