Dear Arc s users,
I had this great phone for 2 years and i did the installation of some roms to try which is the best rom for performance and i remember that the 4.4.4 roms are the best.
Now i have bought an htc one m7 and after 3 months that my Arc s was inutilized, i decided to give it to my sister.
I did the flash of slim rom and the first impression was GREAT! Good performance and stability. But my sister says that the video are not working (YouTube and Facebook) and the app on sd are not working.
I know that there isn't the perfect rom, But i just would like to know what is, at the moment, the stable rom for our phone.
It does not matter if it is gb, jb or kk (my sister doesn't know the difference). I just need a Good rom.
Please could You help me to find the Good one?
Thank you so much and sorry if i do this question, But i love this phone and i would like to see it in use instead to see it on my desktop.
Thank you again.
All Custom Rom is the best , Just try and see what is the best for you

flash the Legacy Xperia ROM build 06/09/14 its nearly bugless, very good for daily use. no battery drains, all important stuff works. (incl. video).
your sis will have fun.
Thanks!
I'm using Carbon and its so smooth and no lag....
i am not saying that this is the best because all the custom rom
can improve your phone

Best ROM?... You decide which is best for you... err your friend... Go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318 to see them listed.
Enjoy!
Tell us a bit about what kind of experience does your friend need?
Speed? Customization? Stability?
he has the stock rom on his phone... i think he wants a full fixed rom with more smooth and speed than stock! thanks!
ps. what's the way to flash rom on this phone? =)
Well, everything is better than stock, believe me! It's a matter of choice, but more ppl prefer Cyanogen, because it's a who organisation of developers and many hours of hard work behind it, it sure is pretty complete. I'd suggest taht, but he shoudl check out all of the available roms, as danny said, it's a matter of choice.
First of all, you have to decide if you want Sence rom or something else.
The best sence rom is probably RemPuzzleRom, its faster, but it looks nearly the same as stock.
other good option is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458749 i've tried it and it is really fast and stable, looks like vanilla android 2.3.7, there is also stock android launcher.
Cyanogen is also really great rom. Fast, stable and customization is the best.
If you want something on the edge. I'm using CM9 right now. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1473344 I thing it is pretty usable, but there might be still some bugs.
Installed CM10 on my One X yesterday thanks to a help from this forum
I'm still new at this stuff [was the first ROM I installed :3], and since CM10 fails to deliver what I was expecting, I gotta change
I can barely get any signal, It's battery life is horrible, but the most terrible thing is that just randomly shuts down sometimes :|
Can anyone recommend a ROM that is fast, got a better battery life, run on JB and are stable enough?
I like CM10's look, which is one of the reason I took it, so if that ROM could have a similiar look I'd like that, though I don't deny Sense ROMs...
Btw, If you don't mind, I'll need a little bit of guidance regarding how to switch ROMs if you don't mind...
Thanks a lot for the helpers
... Just test them all. They work fine.
try .. Ice cream jelly (ICJ) it works very good
It's got to be maXimus for me! a truly great Rom, I highly recommend it!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601543
If you like the pure Android feeling, i strongly recommend Cyanogenmod 10, the seandersn Edition.
Running on my One X for some time now, good battery performance, fluid like butter and up to know i didnt experience any bugs :good:
Link: CyanogenMOD 10 "SE" v2.1
If you're after the Sensi UI, then go for Blade. Really good battery life and performance!

Now after you have a list of possibilities, just start to try by yourself. I will close this one before the usual trouble between fangroups begins .
I'm not sure if this is something that happens to a lot of you Nozomi users, but I can always ask for advice.
I skip from custom ROM from time to time just to know what my options are, either experimental or close-to-stock. And quite frankly it is bugging me, that my ROMs always feel sluggish, even when others say it should be quick or smooth.
I just want to have the smoothest, most stable, least sluggish ROM out there (I tend to demand a lot), and it should stay just that. Not that it's blazing fast to begin with, and decreases in speed in a matter of days.
Also, cleanest way to install said ROM? I want to rule out all possible factors.
I hope you can help me along with this,
rc_enzo
Almost all stock roms will eventualy slow down
All them error codes just gather up
Clearing your cache and dalvik fixes some of it
Also stock based roms will always be sluggish, it seems all stock kernels have a entropy issue
There are tonnes of other reason
If you want a smooth and stable rom, i dont necicarily recomend my rom, each device is slightly different, these nano diferences have a bigger effect
Just try out different roms till youn find one you like
If not that unlock your bootloader and install cm10 or aosp
Letamas aosp is about one of the quickest but its buggy and FXP cm10 is great in performance and feels great
BUT YOU HAVE TO KNOW TO REPERCUSSIONS OF UNLOCKING YOUR BOOTLOADER
(Although unlocked bootloader = freedom)
If you need anything just ask, i didnt cover everything surrounding your point and question

I know how stuff works, trust me.
Unlocked my bootloader pretty much the instant I got the phone, and I've run a great number already. I guess FXP works great, but I've read the weekly updates don't add that much anymore...

Hmmm...
You could try miui?
Or maybe the 4.4 project (once started and finished)
Letamas 4.3 is i think the faststest running rom on xperia s but there are some openGL issues which makes gaming a no no
And kitkat 4.4 is designed for devices with 512mb of ram, xperia s has 1gb but some for hardware and gpu as we know
I suggest either using letamas 4.3 (few not working things)
Or waiting for a 4.4 build
Im not to sure about opensemc, i dont realy remember not to sure about some others too
Conclusion:
Stock = always slugish
CM10-11 = Good but some builds are buggy
AOSP - amazing but buggy and no fully working builds ive seen yet
Sent from my LT26i using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'll give letama's a shot then, and we'll see about KitKat. I have a hunch that we will be getting one fairly soon.

RaymanFX i think he said he got it to boot already but he is a super dev like letama
Me and some other people are trying to get Official CM11 (4.4) for xperia s, (petitions blah blah blah)
Me and some other devs are working on AOSP 4.4
So you should see alot of 4.4
Also - read through the bug list of letamas 4.3 build and also notice there are some graphics bugs but everything else is fine as far as i remember
Using letamas 4.3 then going back to stock, stock felt like very slow

You can always make a clean install.. Wiping everything, format everything and then flash.. That's the best way to avoid any sort of problems in any ROM.. As Envious_Data said, there are lots of advantages of unlocking the bootloader.. And btw if you are going with Stock based ROM, i would suggest u try eXistenZ Ultra and Trintity ROM first and when it comes to AOSP/CM ROMs you can try letama's AOSP 4.3 or RaymanFX's CM10.2 alpha3.. I am currently on CM10.2.. Its very smooth and fluid for an alpha.. I am getting better battery backup too.. Although i have to sacrifice 1080p recording for now, but the ROM is definitely a daily driver.. Go ahead and choose to flash any ROM.. Welcome to Xperia S section..
No offence guys, but I'm not new at the Xperia S, have had the device since november last year, running ROMs since early january.
Thanks for the advice anyway.
I've got the same, my phone runs smooth right after flashing the ROM, but then... I don't know, maybe its because of the way we use our phones?
I have compared my XS to my friends XS - his was very smooth and mine - you know. I have unlocked bootloader to make GTA III run smoothly.
And now - I just got used to this, but I hate my phone
Running letama's 4.3 AOSP, and @Envious_Data thanks for the suggestion, it feels truly rapid and it looks like it will do fine for me. That games and 1080p recording don't work properly, is no burden for me anyway.
Good luck on your developing endeavours, I hope 4.4 progress is good
(this is for future reference)
the Reason why our phones on the stock roms is the same reason why windows slows down
error codes build up and one way to fix half of it is to wipe your cache, (one advantage of apple IOS, does not generate error codes and thus can last a straight 2 months of constant running)
AOSP /CM10/11 are much cleaner then stock and will take alot more time to slow down, and the same goes with Stock ICS, it will slow down a bit but no more then that
GB was about the best, it was perfectly coded , no errors
JB was coded by Sony DEV team B and team B is the ones to F***ed up almost everything they have touched
although Xperia Z run almost the exact same firmware as xperia s it got messed up when they ported it
its why i discontinued my rom, i couldent fix alot of the errors that my self and sony had caused

I am pretty sure there LOTS of ROMS like that throughout the forum but I would recommend Close2Perfection and Gin2KitKat. Try them both if you can and see what is good for you. BTW, both of them are GB ROMs.

Well, I used the Gin2JellyBean Rom 2.5.2 (not a fan of the kitkat 3.0.0 look). It's very stable, has great battery life and it's also extremely powerful when it comes to gaming. Also, I haven't found something which is missing. Everything is working great and it's without a doubt, one(!) of the best Xperia Play GB roms you can find here.
But for now I'm using IceCreamSpeed V12. I like the design and it's an incredible good ICS rom, with full Touchpad Support (and if it doesn't work for specific games you can use the Touchpad activator, coming with the rom).
Alright so
I tested almost all "gaming" roms on gb for the xperia play for 1 year now..... And i have to say that NXT Light or Auroraplay is the best choice for you if you want to game
I am now on auroraplay and i have to say i can play everygame without overclocking and withotu lags
Btw: The GB Roms are much faster then the ICS roms so dont bother you use gingerbread for gaming
The best kernel for gingerbread is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849536
So use that with auroraplay and your xperia play will fly!!!!
Edit: No that roms hasnt any bugs and of corse you can use your touchpad
1. I have tried many ROMS too. but the SuperLite JB is one of my Fav's .. I used it as a daily for 1 year. Totally customizable because of AOKP settings.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2357756
and then I switched to MIUI.. ohhhhh.. MIUI is the real Beautiful Face of Android.. the usual android is soooooooooooooo Boring.. MIUI is a please to the eye.. Totally Customizable.. Loving it from within 5 mins of Installing it..
2. You have the Gaming Edition GB here .. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2201338
3. and also the newer.. JB edition here .. http://en.miui.com/thread-3182-1-1.html .. the JB one is amazing.. and newer.. a totally fresh change.. but still ANDROID.
Hi guys, I'm fairly new here (been lurking for years though) and more of a hardware guy than a software guru.
I have my One V (non-rooted) for a few years now. Its CPU and half a gig of RAM were giving me a lot of trouble before I started using Auto Memory Manager and a custom launcher - Apex.
Now performance is acceptable, but I just want to root already and.get rid of Sense, all immortal bloatware and have better multitasking.
Went through the web pages of all popular roms such as AOPK, CM, MIUI, etc., but my phone is not.listed anywhere as an officially supported.device.
I'm not looking for anything flashy, just the opposite - looking for a simple, naked rom with only google play store and.nothing else, small memory footprint and.stable. Don't need bluetooth, camera, etc., don't want to overclock or anything, just a clean, fast rom without Sense, stable enough not.to crash my.alarm and get me fired..
Oppinions.about Primou? Other suggestions?
Thanks.in advance.
Anyone?

u can try Cyanogen Mod 10
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2653961
To be honest, I've used the device for a long time and Ignorance v5 has been the best performing and most stable ROM for me but it's sense-based. You should try CM10 because it's a great ROM. Another ROM which I really liked is SlimBean http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49763436.
In any case I suggest installing PurePerformanceX ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2360670 ) and TurboBoost ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145133 ). These mods will make the device noticeably faster and more responsive. You can also odex your ROM if you want to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390162.
Thanks everyone, but why isn't my device listed as supported in thr CM10 web page?
Greetings!
These "best ROM" type of threads inevitably lead to disaster, mayhem, and general havoc. Therefore, I am going to close this thread down to avoid any harsh times if you will.
Just take a gander at the various ROMs and their features in the development area and see what appeals to you. I just got a OnePlus One and have spent the last 3 days flashing pretty much every ROM the phone has to offer, and I can tell you there are nuances that no one could have told me about, before I found the one I currently like.
Happy hunting!
