Is the SM-T210 a Downgraded SM-T211? - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Today my Tab decided it's dead after being left on charge, there's at least 50% battery charge (hooked it up to a semi-bricked tad) 2340/4000mAh.
Not one for mucking about I cracked my Tab open, checked if anything had blown, no physical signs, so nothing to see, it's just dead at the moment, going to try 30 minute charge then turn on, see if it works (fingers crossed).
I did notice on the back side of the SD slot solder tabs, each is a region and one possible generic listed below:-
SM-T210

USA
SM-T211
EU
CHN
LA

Most of the marked components for this Tab are labeled SM-T211 which begs the question......
Can they all be the same higher model than produced as?
If the component parts are the same from the 210 to the 211 it could just be a 2 minute de-solder and re-solder.
If I get any joy out of my Tab as it stands I may try it if somebody knows if the components are the same on both models

I feel like T211 and T210 are almost same, just the radio is missing from T210
Sent from my SM-T211 using XDA Free mobile app

It may not be 'missing' just implemented individually, we'd need to know for sure at hardware level if 3g & WiFi use different hardware?
It could still mean you could upgrade or downgrade so to speak on the model numbers but have to stick to 3g or WiFi
Bashing away at my HTC Desire C

Well a SIM card slot should be missing at thr sm-t210 board. Other than that it should only differ in software I guess.
Sent from my XT1052 using XDA Free mobile app

Not seen an accessible sim slot so I'd guess it's not under the motherboard but would have to know for sure if components are the same, even checking drivers etc.
Could work, unfortunately mines a dead duck by the looks of it so I can't check anything.
May pull it apart and list the components

No, the T211 is an downgraded(with completely different hardware) T210..

[Q] - Any H/W mod for GN

Hi all, just a thought, since GN has mods for Kernel, ROM, Casing, covers .. etc has anyone encountered any hardware MOD for Samsung Galaxy Nexus ? like those you can open up the phone and simple removing some chip and replacing it with another e.g. storage from 16gb to 32gb.. internal RAM from 1gb to 3 gb .. etc like a PC..
p.s. after flashing ROMS/Kernels for a few months, thinking of trying something new
we wouldn't need to upgrade phone each year if the said things can be done easily
besides a phone is not a pc, and i'm pretty sure not everyone wanna mess their $700 device in such way
I bought a cable for USB sticks and use chainfires USB app. But sorry bud not sure you could pull out that sandisk chip and throw a bigger one in. Not yet at least
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
thanks all guess after seeing so many kind of MODs out there in this forum, kinda hope its possible..

No it's not possible.
Even if you did manage to open it, the chips would still be soldered to the MB.

These phones are not meant to be generally user-serviceable (and especially not user-upgradeable).
Use the phone how it is and you'll be happy. When its outdated, sell it and buy a new model that suits your needs.

US Owners of T3 One X's - Read this!

So this past month I have spent One X-less. I live in the US and got my One X April 10 and loved it dearly. It's serial was SH23. Long story short, I started having an issue where the screen wouldn't display anything but it was still responsive to touch. I opened a ticket with HTC and they took it in under the Global Warranty.
Just a heads up to any other US users out there with an T3 One X, it's 20 bucks plus shipping just for them to look at it for you. Plus, if they need to order parts it takes a lot longer than their 7-10 business days. I sent my device in on April 20, and today ( 7 JUN ) I just now got my tracking number for them sending me a One X back.
Also, FIGHT TO KEEP YOUR INTERNATIONAL VERSION. They are going to tell you that they can ONLY send you back a US Version. That is simply not true. If anyone is in this situation, PM me and I will give you the contact number to RMA Escalations and the name of the Public Relations manager you need to ask for.
Back to my story, I ended up with a bad motherboard according to HTC's subsidized repair center in Buffalo, NY. It was unlocked through HTC Dev and had been through a few flashes and kernels.
This could be good news because they did not find me at fault and they're sending me a replacement device under S/N HT245. Even though I only started experiencing that issue after flashing an early release of a kernel.
This may just be a horror story, but it can easily happen to you. HTC isn't too fond of us having the One X here in America because it forces them to order parts for 2 different phones.
If anyone is having any issues in the US with their T3 One X, drop me a PM.

I wouldnt switch to the XL if they paid me 200e
T3 is the best thing about this device
the reason why the xl is,more expensive is the troubled 28nm production and the s4 shortage

I would have, I even thought about having the One XL shipped from Australia but then I decided against it because I didn't want to end up with an expensive device only to come to the conclusion it might be incompatible with the european gsm, edge 3g hdspa(+) networks. I gave the One S to my GF, it is just a much smoother more responsive device which can easily last 3 days on battery.

i give you the battery, as for smoothness and speed, they match once you optimize your HOX
stock kernel + ultra rosie + supercharger, my HOX is liquid smooth minus the occasional micro stutter
you all keep forgetting the s4 is overkill on the One S since it runs @ QHD
not the case @720p the T3 GPU beats it at this density
as for T3 games there is no match what so ever
its simple for gamers the T3 version is "devine"

both your 2nd n 3rd argument are dead wrong
long story to prove it for u but its all in the mega thread
chainfire can not enable quad optimized games like shadowgun n it rarely works bug free
the gpu is not a match the t3 has much more capable pixel shaders and no adreno 225 doesn't win the benches only a few

The one xl should work in Europe I'm from Australia and sent my cousin a one xl in Belgium
I'd have to agree with hamdir on the t3 and gaming you can't beat it
I only bought the one xl because its one of the few proper phones in Australia with LTE

Slightly off topic...
Anyways, update:
I recieved A One X back today (8 JUN). I sent in a grey one and they sent me back a white. Also, after looking it over of course there's a dim dead pixel too :/ Also was promised the WWE and mine is running the European Firmware.
This may seem like I'm complaining, but actually I feel like I came out on top on this one. It's a refurb clearly, but I don't see any orange spots like my grey one had and this one has the blue tint over the yellow. No gaps or flex or ripples or creaking. Plus it's unlocked (SIM not S-Off :/) No bloat like my WWE had also when I bought my One X white was more expensive than grey.
So it seems like they've fixed the initial problems people were having. Again though, I cant say I recommend anyone in the US sending in their phone unless it's dire. They're going to try and $#%! you.
May I ask you OP something?
My HOX also had the same issue on the screen not lightning up, but with touch still working. You said it was a motherboard issue? HTC support here in Norway did not know anything about the issue, nor my carrier company whom I bought the phone from.
Im still currently waiting for my replacement, so I havent heard anything from the store that is supposed to get my phone fixed or what the issue is.
Mine was running all stock, not unlocked with a HT23 serial (I think).
Best regards

That's what NA told me at least. I didn't send mine to a carrier though, I sent it directly to HTC. From what I gathered from my conversations with various support staff is that they replaced the screen itself first but that didn't fix the issue so they were going to replace the motherboard. However the price of the motherboard is probably more expensive than just sending me a replacement phone and international HOX aren't readily availible in North America so that's how I got the replacement device. Odd that we had a similar serial number though, minus the fact that my old one was a China made and yours a Taiwan.

I am trying to decide whether to buy a Archos 80 G9 or not ?

I am trying to decide whether I should buy an Archos 80 G9 ( with 16 gb) , or the Nexus 7 .
I heard there are touch screen issues with A80G9 , and also reports of frequent applications crashing/freezing. Have those issues been resolved with software updates from Archos ( or a custom rom ) ? Are A80G9 flimsy so that users can damage them even under normal usage ?
To me the selling point of the A80G9 is its size and the 3G via usb option.
Do A80G9 comes with the 3g USB dongle (that accept a SIM card) ?

I have an 101G9, generally satisfied with it, especially after installing CM9 on it. AFAIK 3G usb sticks are sold separately, Archos ones (natively supported by the G9 on stock ROMs) go for about 50 euro i guess, but trevd has managed to get full support for other 3G sticks (mostly Huawei ones if i'm not mistaken, could be others too) in CM9. So if you have one laying around, it'd be worth it i guess.
Otherwise, a Google tablet, quad core, 1 GB ram, with full support by Google, for 200-250 USD/EUR? Hard to beat, if it was available before i got the G9, i'd have gone the Nexus route. Besides, you can always tether the tablet to your phone.
Oh, and about the touchscreen: since i installed CM9 i didn't notice any such problems. Occasionally when the tablet wakes up it takes a while to register touches, but it goes away and is only present on the lockscreen. I've read that this is caused by the lockscreen and that by disabling the locksreen it doesn't happen, but i haven't tried it yet. On Archos ROMs i had "ghost" touches, regardless if the ROM was stock Archos or one of the excellent ones by Surdu_Petru. Touchscreen calibration/reboot fixed those. Apparently Surdu_Petru also succeeded to fix this in his latest ROMs.

How to install CM9 ? I went to cyanogenmod website but archos G9 products are not listed on their devices section.
Where can I find surdu_petru download and instruction ?
I am under the impression that none of the tablets can survive a 1 meter fall. I had a HP touchpad and someone drop it on the carpet. The case cracked and the speakers are not working. Do you think the g9 can be dressed up to absorb a 1 meter fall.
I am considering A80G9 which has a smaller screen than the 101, but bigger than 7" devices.
I have had both and prefer nexus 7. However I had no use for the 3g stick (they don't work on american carriers)

I have no idea if they'd survive a 1 meter fall. It depends on your luck i guess. You'll forgive me for not testing that in practice
About CM9: The G9 isn't officially supported/mentioned on the CyanogenMod website. JackpotClavin made a fully working CM9, you can look here:
Anybody interested in testing a CM9 super-alpha build in a week or so?
All of Surdu_petru's ROMs ([email protected], Root only, Overclock Edition, Root deodex & busybox...) are in the Gen9 development section, have a look.
All ROMs require you to enable SDE (Special Developer Edition) on the Archos, see here how to do it: [TUT] How to Install Official SDE menu and rooted firmware (updated 15 June 2012)

The 80g9 is tough. I bought two. One for me one for my 5 yo son who has autism. His has been dropped, bumped, made its way down a flight of hardwood stairs and just snap it back together and away we go. I'm very surprised as the tablet feels cheap. Ha ha. I'm going to get a tuff-luv silicone case for them for an added bit of protection.
I don't have a nexus. I cannot comment on its build. I know one thing, no expandable storage, is a big no no in my book. I use SD on my tablet all the time.

Yeah, the non-expandable storage could be a deal breaker for some. I don't need really need more than 8/16 GB, but it depends on what you do with it, i guess. I mostly use it for surfing and movies/music, but at home i just stream everything from my main computer.
It's a nice to hear the Archos tabs are durable and can withstand some abuse
Hah, actually my problem with the G9...it broke after a 3 foot (almost a meter) drop on carpet. Granted, it was charging, and the dc jack snapped right off the motherboard. These things are cheaply soldered on. I did drop my nexus 7 on accident from aroud 6 feet, and it survived, not a scratch on it, but it was not charging.

Yes but look at the teardown by scholbert, you will see these dc jacks are cheaply soldered onto the motherboard, they break very easy even when not dropped, they have failed on many people.
i can only share my experience after one day. bear in mind i have hardly used it... mainly because i dont really have a need to as yet. i bought it to use as a media player (replace my wdtv live) and torrent downloader but havent had the time to set it up. obviously the bonus is it has a screen and a fair few apps that may possibly come in useful. it might even get used to read in bed but i have a kindle...enough said.
so at the moment my useage has been mainly downloading a few android hardware id apps because i was scratching my head wondering where the rest of my ram had got to. i honestly thought all 1.5ghz turbo models shipped with 1gb ram. my device proves that theory to be a myth. i have also called tech support who said they would get back to me today... i am still waiting.
CONS
thje touchscreen stopped responding to touches last night. sometimes it would work sometimes it wouldnt. gets very frustrating when you have to keep tapping at something in order for the tablet to do what you want.
not the fastest beast ever. i started browsing and opened about ten tabs and it ground to a halt. this may have caused the touchscreen to become unresponsive as above?
even though i have the omap 4460 running at 1.5ghz and yet i still only have 512mb ram. be very careful about which model you buy and i mean this. the 512mb ram version is obviously a lesser model and i think contributed to the above issue wihen surfing the net. if you can therefore have a look in the menu to see what you are actually buying.
terrible viewing angles.
cheap build quality - if you put slight pressure on the screen it will distort badly.
i have read that one must be very careful with the usb port because it can break very easily. makes me nervous any time i need to actually plug a cable in there.
as per the norm no ac3 support in videos.
tech support is pretty shoddy (this is simply my experience after the call i made yesterday and the fact that the promised call back never arrived).
it has a locked bootloader and development is pretty thin on the ground. it lacks a real community of modders mainly hampered by the locked bootloader. basically it aint that popular in the grand shceme of things and that means we wont get much in the way of custom roms. now before anyone starts...dont get me wrong the devs here are i am sure doing a fine job and i aint putting any of the work down (i havent even tested it yet although i will). what i am saying is that compared to any of the popular devices the modding scene is pretty threadbare.
PROS
Good media player with the ultra bonus that it can browse network shares as well as connect to upnp servers
i see it has an inbuilt media server... this is nice as it saves me having to download an app to do the job
it has an inbuilt remote control app so one can use the phone to navigate menus (havent tested this yet and i probably wont ever use it because i have a hdmi right next to where i sit but hey ho it is there)
apart from the build issue cons above the quality when it is sat in the hand is overall not bad at all. however it does feel a tad flimsy and i would hate to drop it or even have it fall off my sofa.
it is cheap i mean i got mine for about 110 quid brand new but without a box.
archos have pretty much left ics alone. there are a few apps that are pre installed and most of them are useful. there is also no skin on top which makes for a nicer experience in use.
the battery is a surprising. i charged it yesterday and it is still on 69 per cent left. granted i have used it for less than hour mainly jjust looking at my settings trying to figure out what had happened to the ram but hey... i am still quite impressed. lets put it this way it is a major step up from the 70it that i owned for a week or so. the battery in that was truely diabolical.
i think and this is a personal thing that the form factor is the best there is. it makes more sense to me to have a 4:3 format in such a small device but if it cant output at 1080p widescreen then i will be bitterly disappointed (i will therefore reserve judgement on this theory).
it has a kick stand which feels quite weak and one will have to be careful not to topple it over but for watching videos it will come in handy. it can also be used to simply prop it up and leave it as a dedicated digital picture frame.
i will say the audio from the inbuilt speakers aint that bad. it aint good though so dont be expecting hifi but then again i dont think any of the competition is any better.
so that is my experience of the tablet over the last 24 hours. i am going to spend some time with it tomorrow rooting the thing setting it up customising it and trying out some of the roms the devs have worked so hard to produce. hopefully they will go a long way towards making the machine an all round nicer experience. i will also be testing the hdmi output to me tv and seeing how it fares with torrents and media. if it can handle my media, download torrents and work as a digital picture frame then it will be money well spent. if it cant then i will be selling it on.
i will finish with this. it isnt exactly the coolest kid on the block so if style is more your thing go with the nexus. the nexus will also be quite a bit faster and the screen will be far better. however the screen on the nexus is also smaller, there is no way to expand the memory and there is no hdmi port.
pigs and troughs i say. for the price i paid at 100 quid the archos is pretty good value. however i wouldnt pay a penny more. if you can get it cheap then i say buy it (with some hesitation... dont come blaming me when you aint happy) but if you have to pay rrp then i would seriously look elsewhere.
EDIT: Doh i have made silly boo boo. its funny but it is only after i have bought the tablet did i think about the screen size format. obviously me telly is widescreen and the tablet isnt. so while it mirrors everything perfectly it is the same 4:3 format meaning major black bars down the dies. silly really i dont know why i didnt think of this before. it is the final nail in the coffin. so after owning it for about 2 days i have already put my 80 g9 turbo up for sale. OP think long and hard about what you want from a tablet before buying one and then ask yourself will it do all i need it to do. that way you may save yourself the same hassle i now find i have.

one year ago, I bought two 80g9 tablets. One for me and one for my four year old son. Tablets are great for children with autism. Anyways, his tablet has been down the stairs, off tables, dropped from my jeep to the pavement. Scratches and nothing else happened. I have mine rooted with ice blue and it works really well now. I can only recommend the tablet if rooted with custom rom.

Did you update to I.C.S ?
Apparently after doing this the 'missing' RAM will magically appear.

yes this only happens to the g9s that have ice cream sandwich label on the bottom left hand corner of the box. if your box has a honeycomb type bee icon then you are stuck with 512mb regardless of whether or not they are turbo models!
the rough guesstimate archos tech support gave me was any sold after march 2012 should have 1gb of ram but that the ice cream sandwich must be on the box if not say goodbye to the idea of having a decent amount of memory.
i returned mine as faulty anyway after a few days and thankfully got my money back. on top of all the other issues mine would randomly reboot when it was sleeping. i caught it a few times simply booting back to life after it had decided to shut down and restart. glad to be rid and wont ever buy archos again. burn me once i may try again but burn me twice and i will learn my lesson for life.
Thank you for sharing.I also have.:good::good::good:

Mine did this too while running honeycomb. On ics, both work great. Made a huge difference. And with serdu's rom, its smooth sailing now. Just have to reboot once every couple of days. No big deal.

Another thing about the Archos is the size is way more appealing than a nexus. And expandable storage is great.

Tiawanese dhd vs chinese dhd[diagnostics mode problems]

Okay. So this is my third Desire HD. My First DHD didnt support 3g in my country because the 3g band the device searched for 3g on was different from the band my country(Ghana) has its 3g on. So it always stayed on edge. I got my second DHD which supported 3g, it worked perfectly until it the charging port's connectors got ripped off the motherboard making it impossible to repair.
Now here comes the real problem. I got my current DHD and it doesnt suppport 3g either. I decided to put the device in HTC Diagnostics mode so that i could use QPST or CDMA workshop or softwares like that to enable my band that we have our 3g on.
I have being able to put the device in diag mode. Device manager asked for the HTC DIAG drivers and i installed it.
When i open QPST, it says no phone although the port shows up open.
CDMA is also unable to detect the phone neither does DFS.
I even went to the extent of enabling modem which showed up under modems column of the device manager. But still wont show up.
That led me to think that its because i am using a Taiwan version of the desire HD.
Thing is that most roms feel slow and buggy when i flash them.
Roms that everyone coments to be fast runs slow and freezes up sometimes.
My question is that Does the Taiwan Desire HD lack some features or has a lower specification when it comes to speed and processing power than the Chinese version?
Cause all my other DHD were made in china and i never had these problems.
And believe me, i have done full wipes, changing from ext3 to ext4 but none seems to help with the slowness or diagnostics mode.
All Ideas are welcome.

It could have something to do with the memory chips, or other components like that. Qualcomm has its own quality check, so I doubt it would be the processor.

Maybe...Cause all the bricks i have seen here happened on Taiwanese DHDs.

Possibility of physical upgrade / better motherboard install for Desire Z ?

Hello all
I just bought a out-of-factory conditioned Desire Z on flea market. I had this phenomenal phone 6-7 years ago, and I bought it for 3 euros now
I fell in love again, this device is a lesson to all these new designers what a build quality and designer solutions are.
Reading couple of threads here, I figured, Desire Z became unusable. One can eventually use it for phone calls and SMS.
Seeing that the biggest problem is lack of RAM memory and possibility of upgrading to newer versions of android, couple of things came to mind:
Could it be possible to replace RAM chip ? I know from experience that many board manufacturers make RAM memory on top/underneath CPU chip, but if that is not the case, would it be possible to solder the same BGA layout chip with higher memory ?
Also, a wild idea, but would it be possible to install a board from a newer phone ? Form factor surely is a problem, but for example, LG G2 motherboard is really small, maybe some other motherboard could actually be fit in Desire Z ? If that would be somehow possible, all that remains are few tweaks on the system to make keyboard work.
Has anyone else thought about this, and maybe took it further than just an idea ?
