I just picked up the inductive charging battery cover from Verizon today and unfortunately my Rearth Slim Lite case no longer fits. Does anyone know a case that will accommodate the new battery cover?

Did you really? I have seen nothing on the availability of the back cover. Does it work with PowerMat?
I wonder if the inductive back works with the HP Touchstone?
Ya I read on engadget that they were available now and my Verizon store had 3 in stock. The official s3 charging pad isn't available yet but it worked fine with the Verizon/LG Qi compatible pad I have.

Damn. Was going to pick one up tomorrow to use with my touchstone. What a shame. Guess I'll keep waiting until Samsung released the official one. Hope they don't charge as much for the whole setup as Verizon is.
I think I read $90 total for the back + mat.... Unless it works differently than my DIY touchstone project.... why so expensive?

I may be mistaken and I will look to confirm when I get home but I believe it is the official one branded and made by Samsung.

Just what we need, proprietary inductive charging.
How do they even make that work? Make a coil accept only a certain amperage, like .0895 exactly?

I don't think it is proprietary, as it has been said to work with other Qi standard chargers.

Its not an official Samsung Galaxy SIII inductive cover, but it is an official Verizon Galaxy SIII cover tho.
Verizon offer and has had them made for a couple of their devices actually.
Is it possible to get a picture of the underbelly of the battery cover. I know the Verizon variant has 2 additional pins near the sim slot that none of the others have. wondering which set of pins the Verizon cover uses. I'm assuming the lower pins making it useless for me anyways.
Samsung needs to hurry and release the real official inductive charging kit which works with ALL GSIIIs. Also an inductive charging car mount while their at it.

I dont think the cover works with any other Galaxy SIII other then Verizons tho. I'm thinking the back cover connects to the exclusive lower pins on the Verizon variant rather then the pin out all the SIIIs have. Sadly..
Hoping to get pics to confirm. Stopped by a few places today (well, yesterday) and none of the Verizon stores I went to had any.

The inductive battery cover from Verizon definitely connects to the lower pins that are exclusive to the Verizon phone. It also connects to the standard pins that are on the other phones. I guess it is so the Verizon phones will work with Verizon inductive chargers as well as Samsung chargers.
I would post a pic but I am brand new to this forum.

Yes, I saw that in the pics, it has contacts for both the VZW specific pins and the other "standard" S3 pins. It does look like it will work with both types of chargers.

The printing/part number of the VZW inductive cover, appears to be genuine Samsung.
Hey guys, don't know if people have done this already, but I just got a T-mobile S4 for testing this weekend and I wanted to find out if the wireless charging port was enabled since I've done the touchstone wireless charging mod on my S3 and note 2.
It was especially a PIA on the note 2 since T-mobile, in all of its corporate and engineering wisdom, decided to disable the feature for the Note 2, even though it was enabled for the S3. So for those of you who don't like to dissemble your new phone and solder on a tiny PCB, you'll be happy to know that I confirmed that wireless charging ports on the S4 is indeed enabled.
I took a pack of 4x AAA battery assembly, which provides ~4.7v of DC power, and connected to the charging port in the back. The small pair on the left is the charging port, the pair on the right is supposedly NFC, even though the NFC antenna is located on the battery for S4.
As you can see from the pics, the "the phone is now charging wirelessly" notification pops up when the circuit is live, which is pretty annoying IMO and can't be disabled (that's why we have custom roms right?)
I haven't gotten a chance to install the actual touchstone wireless charging receivers on the back yet, as this is a test unit that I have to return, but I don't imagine this to be too different than on the S3. There will be a slight bulge, but it'll be worth it.

Just follow the instructions from this thread (it's for an S3). The design for S3 is pretty similar, so it should work. Remember the positive pin is on the left, negative (ground) is on the right.
Also note that the touchstone mechanism is not Qi compatible, so it wont work with the newer charging mats for Nokia or HTC.
And always remember to perform these mods at your own risk.

Did you install any receiver on the S4?
I didn't mean to confuse anyone, I only confirmed that it is POSSIBLE to perform the mod. I used a 4.7v DC power supply to test if the wireless charging pins on the back are live, which wasn't the case for T-mobile note 2 so I had to check to make sure.
If you already have a Qi charger, you can get one of these receivers and connect it to your phone, then you'll be able to charger with your mat
http://www.ebay.com/itm/qi-Wireless...l_Phone_PDA_Chargers&var=&hash=item51abef6de9
But I would argue that the touchstone method is superior to qi if you plan on using it in a car, as the magnets keep the phone in place is it's really convenient to connect/disconnect when you're driving.

Samsung will be officially supporting wireless charging for the S4 through accessories. The ad for the pad and back wireless charging cover is already listed on the promo S4 accessories page. http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxys4/
Though there seems to be no price or date yet.
Of course there will be 3rd party wireless charging solutions as well.

also;
can anyone confirm or deny wether or not the palm touchstone + receiver will trickle charge the GS4 after it is fully charged ? (or does it completely cease charging until the phone is physically picked up and replaced ?)

Took the Qi wireless receiver pad from my Galaxy S3, had to slightly tear it apart to reverse the little gold inserts that create the contact points for the wireless battery charging and now have a fully functioning wireless charging Galaxy S4 !
Saved myself quite a bit of money doing that.

It seriously only took 5~10 minutes once I'd figured out which way to put what.
I have the photos set up and just need to put notes on them explaining what I did.
Will post them when I get home tonight (12am CT)
Ummmm, from everything I read the pins you have it hooked up to are NOT the ones for inductive charging, the gold ones on the right are......
I could be mistaken however. I remember the s3 used those pins, but I've read in a couple places that the ones made specifically for inductive charging are the ones on the right above the battery.

the smaller set is wireless charging, the larger set is presumably for additional NFC antenna (although I measured no resistance in the circuit with my voltmeter), as the back cover seemed to have a carved out area for a NFC like the Note 2 did.
Although the S4 battery says "NFC" on it, which seems like samsung made a last minute decision to put NFC on the battery instead of the back cover... oh samsung ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I picked my case at the Verizon store. In the Phoenix area, at least, the Verizon variant is just the "folio-case". It has the quick-circle functionality, but does not have the wireless charging portion. Additionally, it attaches over the entire back of the phone. The AT&T case actually replaces the back cover of the phone, and is wireless charging ready.
Don't get teh AT&T version. It will NOT have wireless charging. We use Qi standard while the AT&T version uses PMA.
What I was afraid of
Could I get the ATT case and a powermat charger? Or does the tmobile variant not even allow powermat under those circumstances?
The pins don't trigger as there is too much wattage. PMA uses higher wattage than Qi as that's the main reason why it's not changeable. Currently unknown is if LG made this hardware or software. I honestly wouldn't bother and wait to get one from Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile.
The ones from Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile will use Qi. Just make sure you get the right one as there is a knock off without wireless charging coil in them.

Wow... $10 more just for wireless charging?
It's the same price as the AT&T version, and the other one seems to be a generic. From the rep tried to explain the other one it does not backplate on the non wireless charging one.
You can always get your own Qi parts and put them on your original back plate may come out cheaper.
Just add the wireless charging sticker on to the quick circle case. Pretty simple fix. On another note: is it true that T-Mobile is giving out the OEM quick circle cases with purchase of a G3 now??
Without wireless charging and also it's a snap on. You don't remove the backplate.

That appears to be for the Korean version, with the cutout for the antenna. Can't remember the model number, maybe F400, but if it is indeed for the Korean version it wouldn't work with the US variants sans AT&T. Reason is that the pins are spaced differently on the Korean model compared to the US models.

Was wondering the same thing. Bump

Great news! Can any others confirm?
would also like to know. My G4 should be arriving soon....
That would stand to reason, as the quick circle case is supposed to add wireless charging to the G4.
Yeah perhaps there's no hardware in the phone, it's all in the case and its pma or qi depending on the case you buy. Seems to me it's assumed that the at&t g4 can't use qi because the g3 couldn't, and they have a special pma quick circle case, but I can't find an official statement and the manual doesn't say anything about wireless charging either way.

I have the Sprint version of the LG G4 and the quick circle case. Yes Qi'charging is enabled and working great! 3rd party stickers should be on their way soon to enable the leather backs to do the same! So nice being able to drop and charge. Definitely the way to go!
I just ordered a cheap qi sticker and charging pad on eBay for my AT&T variant. I will post results after they come, which may take a bit, as it's a Chinese deal.
Well things didn't work out for me with my qi sticker, but I can at least verify qi works on the at&t version. Getting qi working wasn't a problem. Getting the sticker lined up enough my battery cover wouldn't buldge, that was the problem!

I have the AT&T LG G4 with the QuickCircle Qi Replacement Back Cover Case. I using a CHOE Stadium Qi Wireless Charger (3 coils) and it charges my phone perfectly. The back gets a little warm, but not hot so it doesn't hurt the battery. I'm considering going to the Tylt charger - it's just expensive. I really like the wireless charging, and the circle case is pretty cool. I like it much better than my wife's Note 4 smart window case.

I had to pull off the little speaker really easy quick google search after that I pulled of the top plastic cover exposing the coil I covered the top circuit board with some electro tape, works 10 out of 10 times. I could cut some plastic and make it look better but since I don't travel with it, not much to worry about.
If you have an ATT SIM card in your LG G4, then you need to have the H810 model (the model designed to work with ATT) to get full functionality for things like MMS.
BUT, unlike all other LG G4 models, the H810 will NOT work with a Qi wireless charger.
For details, I suggest the Android Central forum thread titled "AT&T Variant Wireless Charging - PMA Again or Qi?".

Hey, cellgeek. Is your H810 with Qi Circle Case still able to charge wirelessly? Assuming you're up to date on firmware updates, I think AT&T may have found a way to disable Qi.

There are numerous threads on people's experience with wireless charging, mostly involving the stickers to use, meltdowns with heat, etc. I would like to compile people's experiences.
If you do have experience, please comment on:
1. Did you ever get it to work to your satisfaction? If not, what was not satisfactory about it?
2. How long did it last? Or how long have you had it working?
3. What qi charger do/did you use?
4. If it broke down, what happened and did you ever get it working again?
5. What model of G4 and/or carrier do you have?
Also, there's a quick poll associated in this thread.

This one, it was basically the cheapest one I could find June 2014. Once the phone is charged you can see the light cycle on and off just maintaining 100%. Works fine for a bunch of devices and I don't notice if it's slow as it has 8 hours to charge when I sleep.
CHOE UPGRADED Qi Wireless Charger Charging Pad https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DRBFMZM/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_WNViwbW7EJTDK
I purchased this plastic replacement back that came with a qi sticker. I used it mainly with this CHOE 3 coil charger, but also tried it on this Yootech one, and this one as well. On all three chargers, the phone got super hot while charging. So much so that at one point my phone even froze up and I had to pull the battery. It may have been the qi sticker that came with the back I bought, but I stopped wireless charging after about a week, because I just didn't like how hot it got.
I'm thinking of picking up another qi sticker, but just can't decide which one is the best.
I'm using the official LG qi charger and the quickcircle cover with qi built in. All working but i find plugging in faster so basically just end up using that instead..

I've found that exact placement on the charger can affect the charging temperature dramatically. I think if the sticker is a little ways off from the center of the qi charger (wherever that is, not sure how that is determined on the 3 coil), it heats up a lot more.

Yeah I tried my best to make sure it was right in the center, but it seems no matter where I placed it it would get hot. Plus what's the benefit of having a 3 coil charger if I have to place it in exactly the right spot? I think there is definitely something wrong with the qi sticker I'm using. If not, many others would be having similar issues. I'm using fairly widely used chargers.

I never felt comfortable using the Qi charging after hearing the noise my phone made when I set it on the charger. I have multiple brands of chargers and all produce the same noise from the phone's speakers (youtube link below). I've tried with cases and without cases on all my chargers.
Here are my qi chargers:
1. Itian Qi Standard Wireless Charger
2. Axiong Qi Wireless 3-Coils Stand Charging Pad Stand Dock Wireless Charger for Qi Phones
3. Tmvel T2 Wireless Charger Charging Mount Cradle Stand for all Qi Phones, with Wide Charging Area for LG G3, Nexus 5, Nexus 4,Nokia Lumia 920, MOTO Dro
4. Tmvel Qi Wireless Car Charger Dock for Qi-Enabled Devices
5. Nillkin Energy Stone For Nokia Lumia 920 1520 Lg Google Nexus 4 5 LG G2 HTC 8x DNA Simple Fashion Wireless Qi Power Charger Charging Pad + Leevin® NF
6. PowerBot® PB1020 Qi Enabled Wireless Charging Pad Station for All Qi Standard Compatible Devices Including Samsung, iPhone, Nokia, Google, Nexus, LG,
7. Ruix Wireless Charger -Qi Enabled Charger - White

So an impressive 50% of folks on the poll at this time have had it crap out.
Wonder if the V10 will have this issue too? I'd consider switching to that, but the G4 is big enough already for me.
1. Works as expected
2. Have it for a week now
3. PowerBot
4. n/a
I'm using the official LG G4 CFR-100 cover btw...
After reading about wireless charging, maybe it's the reason why the feature was removed from phones released in my country. We got a dual sim variant where wireless charging was removed totally.

Wireless charging was removed from dual sims because the circuitry for wireless charging is replaced by that of the second sim.

Also, there's a quick poll associated in this thread.

1. Yes, it worked perfectly.
2. I only use the wireless charger at work and I started noticing issues after the 12th work day. Today is the 13th day and it is no longer working at all. When I power off the device and stick it on the charger, the charging light briefly indicates it's charging and powers the device on and then goes back to the idle state.
3. Using this back: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZEY13SU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage and this charger: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LFVPRMO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage
4. Came to XDA see if it's common and it looks like it is I'll try to see what happens after contacting LG support. I doubt there's much T-Mobile can do if I don't have any type of insurance or anything with them.

The T-Mobile store can put in for a warranty exchange, if you initially bought it with them. But then you get a refurb. It's $20. Alternatively, you could send it in for a factory warranty, but it'll be out for several weeks. And then after you get it back, the wireless charging will break down after a week or two. Ridiculous, right?
I think it's endemic with our H811 model. I wish this could be as big as Antennaegate, forcing LG to admit their poor design+engineering, but there aren't enough users to raise a stir.

I just had an online chat session with LG Support and since they only officially brand their Qi case for Verizon phones they are telling me that the T-Mobile model is not compatible with wireless charging and there's nothing they can do. I got this phone off CL so going to T-Mobile is going to be difficult. I purchased the LG G4 back on release day day but returned it so I was going to use that receipt with LG Support but it looks like that's a dead end.
Another question you should ask in this thread is which model people are using since this is a general G4 forum and not carrier specific. It does look like this happens with Verizon phones too though: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/help/wireless-charging-stopped-t3226231
Thankfully the battery life is good enough on this phone where I can probably live without the wireless charging at work. To be honest It was more of a must have when I had the S6 since there was no way I could make it through the workday without leaving it on the charger.
Wow, really? The function that works (at least initially) because all the hardware is there, on T-Mob, is "not supported?" That sounds like LG support has their heads up their butts, just like the QA department on the wifi charging.
I'll add the question of what version G4 do you have on the questionnaire. Can't edit the poll anymore though I wish I could.
1. Locked up during the night, multiple times a week.
2. Randomly started working perfectly for 3 months. Replaced phone. Worked for about 1.5 months. Now stops charging and locks up during the night again.
3. Nokia puck + Samsung + several chinese ebay units
4. Absolutely no idea why it magically fixed itself and now magically broken.
5. Verizon G4

Yes, but not for more than a couple weeks at a time.
2. How long did it last? Or how long have you had it working?
About 2 weeks, sent in for RMA, came back not fixed, sent back, worked for a little over a week, stopped today.
3. What qi charger do/did you use?
LG Quick Circle case purchased from Verizon, 2 tylt vus, one samsung puck.
4. If it broke down, what happened and did you ever get it working again?
No idea what caused it to stop working -- today it stopped somewhere between work and home.
First time, mailing it in twice helped.
5. What model of G4 and/or carrier do you have?
Verizon

Using a Yootech sticker with a Yootech puck. Both work well. I originally had a sticker from the Fone company...the colorful one in blue and green, iirc. The wireless charging worked but the NFC was unusable with it. (not that I myself use nfc
