I am using a Nexus 7 tablet paired with my Moto 360.
I can tell the watch "Navigate to 123 Any Street" and it starts working. But, the card on the watch sticks at calculating route. This happens only when the Nexus 7 screen is locked.
When the Nexus 7 screen is unlocked the whole process works, and the watch completes and starts giving turn by turn directions.
I'm confused why Navigation cannot start when the Nexus 7 screen is locked?

Yes. I use the gesture lock on Nexus 7 2013 LTE. But, I am stock and not rooted.

I'm guessing that's the issue. After the Navigate command my phone turns on, bypasses lockscreen, and opens Maps. I don't have a password enabled.
Try without a password and verify it works automatically.
They wouldn't want someone to bypass your phone's security just by a voice command.

Hey Guys,
Real quick, new to android sorta... I've had the nexus 7 since the summer, but I've dropped iPhone (4) for the Note 2.
I've set my security settings to lock the phone right?
The problem is that even with that on I just have the swipe to unlock and the phone doesn't lock. I restarted the phone and the initial wake up has the lock, then I unlock it and never see it again. I switched from pin to pattern and its the same deal.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
I had the same problem you need to adjust the lock timer its set to like 30 mins by default.

Genius!:good: Thank you!
No root, no need to download or install anything.
This work for other devices as well as the Note 4. This enables the Google now "Ok Google" Feature where you can active Google now while the screen is off. This is something like the Moto X feature.
How To:
1) Open Google Now
2) Go to Google Now Settings
3) Click on "Voice"
4) Enable "Audio History"
5) Click "Ok Google Detection"
6)Click "Always on" and follow the remaining directions.
You Can also watch this How To Video if you want:
If you device is unsupported or it just wont work, then there is an app called "Open Mic+ for Google Now" which does this for you.
This also works on the Lg G3, Nexus 5, and Galaxy S5, from what I know. Please feel free to try other devices and let me know if they work as well.
For anyone who wanted to know, this dose not kill the better. It doesn't even show and you wouldn't notice it was on until you said "Ok Google"

Only had the phone for 8 hours too soon to tell if it's a major battery drain. However my understanding of the snapdragon 805 is it has some type of architecture built which always apps to run in a low power mode without draining much battery and Google now uses this feauture.

The first day I had the phone I used it all day and had 2% battery life when I went to bed. Woke up about 6 hours later and though it has died. Nope still on 1%, so what you say could be true.
I have this enabled and can say that my battery life is great with it turned on.....of course this a completely subjective post. But I see nothing that indicates any type of additional strain on the battery. Playing a couple of hours of XCOM however...
Only works when SVoice is on
Something to note (no pun intended), when I have SVoice disabled, I don't have any setting "Always on", however when I reenable it("Turn it On") in the app manager I get the option.

i didn't have S voice enabled when i got this working.
Here is my power usage over night not plugged in with nothing else to compete with the voice activation. Although my battery life is still pretty good, considering the circumstance, this is definitely eating away at it.
Found that when you don't use the feature for a period of time it turns off. Not completely off but, i found that I would have to go into the google now then exit for it to work again. Anyone else find to have this problem as well?
Thread title is wrong, no? Doesn't work with screen off while not charging like the Moto X does. Only works with screen on (on lock screen or unlocked), or when plugged in.

I have noticed the same exact thing. The phone 'OK Google' doesn't work with the screen off, only when I turn the screen on or plug it in for a charge. Not a big deal, but I was hoping it would work without a screen being on. Still fun to use that function, it makes me feel like I'm in the 'OK Google' commercial

Don't think every reboot. I did one today and I used the command and it still worked.

Not true. It works for me when not charging, with the screen off, and with the device locked (fingerprint).

Same here, Screen off unplug or plug in.
Just got my lovely Note 4 today. I can confirm that "Ok Google" works for me with the phone unplugged, screen off, and lockscreen enabled.
I didn't follow the instructions in this thread. I was aware of how to activate the feature from prior experience. I'm not sure what step some of you all missed along the way to make this feature work.
For about a week after I got the watch, there were no issues with the voice commands but now whenever I try to use the "Okay Google" command when the screen is off it won't recognize it. I have to tap the screen to turn it on, then try the command once or twice before it picks it up. I have tried a factory reset on the watch and rebooting it but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Same for me
Try this ,go to your phone, disconnect Google now and then reconnect it again an program the voice command

How exactly do I disconnect Google Now? I've looked through all the settings in both the Google Search app and the Android Wear app but I couldn't find anything
Open Google now ,the part where you see the cards,go to settings, and you will see at the top how to disable Google now,in lollipop is that way

I see, is there any way to accomplish this on KitKat?

I don't think it has. Honestly think its working as intended. Screen must be active before command.

agreed.
OP to answer your question for using the watch one-handed, the idea of being able to twist your wrist to activate the watch is helping your situation. for me, i know that this is not reliable, but this is how the watch/software was designed.
i'm hoping the moto 360.2 is more moto X like. always on mics and ambient display.

Does anyone have OK Google hotword working on their device to unlock device?
On my oneplus6t if the phone screen is off, and has been sitting untouched for awhile I can say "OK Google" and it automatically unlocks the phone, turns on screen, and auto launches Google listening.
Can anyone confirm if it works for their mate 20 x?
If yes, what model number do you have?
And does it work if you set up finger print to unlock the phone? (Will it bypass finger print and unlock)

It doesn't work for the Mate 20 X !
I believe that it does work for the Pro though.

Google actually removed this from Android 9. Some OEMs keep it. However is it's a security flaw and Google has removed it.

O gosh this is horrible.
After you said this I googled more info and you're right.
Surely this can be made whole again.
Couldn't we copy the APK from a Android 9 pie device that has a good working ok Google hotword and paste it into the mate20x as a system app via root?
There is this tasker profile that uses "Emy" to trigger/replace "Ok google"
Does it work when the phone is awake and in the homescreen without hitting any button?
Does this work on the China version?
I thought Samsung would already have this baked in coming from a Pixel phone but I used to be able to set Do not Disturb for say 1 hour if I was in meeting and only wanted notifications off during a set amount of time. It looks like it's all or nothing on the Note 10 though. Is there a way to address this that I am missing?

Interesting thought. I have the Galaxy Watch and on swipe down, when you tap do not disturb it asks you how long... but it doesn't appear to be on the phone itself. So in my case the watch must turn it back of at the specified duration. I wonder what happens if the phone loses the Bluetooth connection then to the watch? Implementation was only thought through half-way?

It looks like it's been added to Android 10 now since I installed it so all good.
