Spigen Glas.tr slim! - Moto 360

here ya go! http://www.amazon.com/Protector-Spi...d=1411173934&sr=8-1&keywords=spigen+glas+moto

But how does it fit? There seems to be a problem with some of protectors out there that they are not fitting 100%.

Is Spigen the only company so far making glass screen protectors right now?

As far as I know. But, I'm sure once Spigen releases theirs, all the copy cats will be releasing their versions short after. But if you want to wait for at least another month, then go for it lol. I'm happy with my official ones that resist fingerprints.

it says on the box 28% thinner.. Thinner than what exactly? Its their first release!

Just got an email from Spigen today. They Amazon page said shipping on 30 September, and I ordered it. But Spigen says they won't be shipping until mid-October. They gave me a code for 30% of anything from their store for my being inconvenienced.

Spigen is a trustworthy brand, you can count on them to get it right. I've purchased tempered glass protectors as well as their cases for the past couple years, and many others will vouch for them. As for the whole 28% thinner thing its them marketing themselves as the thinnest glass protection available.

zagg has a screen protector for 14.99 just in case anybody wanted something less expensive...i found one for 75 cents! ehe

Just ordered one (the Spigen, not the Zagg). Supposedly ships 10/15.
I currently have the official Moto one, so I'll be sure to let everyone know how it compares.

Is it possible to review the protector when you get it? I still can't decide which one to get.

Yes, I'll be reviewing it, and comparing it to the official Moto protector, which is what I have now.

I'm patiently waiting for reviews. I've got tempered glass on all my devices. I've got the Spigen in my Amazon cart. Just waiting to pull the trigger.

same here! waiting for a real life review

Okay, here's my short (yeah, right) and sweet review:
I ordered the Spigen GLAS.tR SLIM product from Amazon. I got the email that it shipped on 10/9, and I got the product via USPS mail on 10/16, so it definitely ships via budget (i..e. slow) shipping. However, since it wasn't even supposed to ship until 10/15, I was pretty happy.

The packaging is pretty nice, and contains everything needed to protect the product, and the tools needed to install it.
From the picture, you can see it comes with cleaning wipes, squeegee, a card containing a serial number, little dust-removal stickers, instructions, and the protector itself. The first step of the instructions say to wipe the screen with "the micro-fiber cloth," but one wasn't included. I'm not sure if one was supposed to be there or not, but luckily, I have my own.
The protector went on super easy, although I have to say, it's not as easy as you'd think getting one small circle completely centered on another. I'm not ashamed to admit that it took a couple tries. Fortunately, the protector has two protective films, one for the front and one for the back, and the front one has a couple tabs you can kind of use to hold it, so that you can see the entire circle. That front one also allows you to squeegee the bubbles out (although I didn't really have any), and press down on the protector without fear of scratching anything.
But I'm sure all that you really want to know is, "How does it feel?" Well... it's thick. Noticeably thick. It supposedly has a curved upper ridge so that your fingers will just slide right over the edge, but if it does, it either doesn't work, or I'd hate to see how it'd feel without it. My fingers definitely feel that ridge every time I'm swiping from the extreme edge.
That's not to say that it's annoying, but it does take some getting used to. My official Moto protector didn't seem to get cut quite right, and it had a spot about 45 degrees long (in a 360 degree circle) where the edge could literally be seen when looking straight down. Even at that spot, which is the only place I could really feel it, it still wasn't nearly as noticeable as this Spigen protector.
On the flip side, I had my Moto protector for about 3 weeks, and already ended up with a couple scratches on it. I have a feeling that this Spigen protector will be a bit harder to scratch (although I haven't had it long enough to really say), so there's your trade-off.
Get past the edge though, and this protector definitely feels like the original glass. I thought my Moto protector was smooth, and it may certainly be in my head, but this one does feel a bit smoother. However, it also seems to be a bit stickier in certain situations, such as when your finger is slightly wet... as it would with the original glass.
Fingerprints don't seem to be an issue, and just wipe away with my shirt, but I can definitely say that they wiped away a bit easier on the Moto protector. I think that's because the Moto protector wasn't quite as clear, and hid the post-wipe smudges a bit better. Speaking of clarity... wow, this Spigen is clear. When I turn my 360 to a relatively sharp angle to my eyes, the Moto protector would seem to "fog" just a bit, making it really stand out. Not so with the Spigen. No matter the angle, you can see the edge, but otherwise, it's completely invisible. The clarity really just doesn't compare.
Here are a couple pictures that show the thickness of the two protectors. Sorry, I didn't have my SLR with its macro lens available, so I took these with my phone, but I think you can still tell the difference. See if you can tell which one is which.
Spoiler:
The bottom one is the Spigen.
To summarize, I'd say that the Spigen is definitely the better protector, compared to the Official Moto protector. Its only strike is that it is noticeably thick, and you will definitely catch that edge from time to time when swiping. However, it's certainly clearer, and since the Moto protector is relatively soft plastic, I'm sure the Spigen is more durable and scratch resistant (although, I can't say for certain on that last item).
I think you'd be happy with either protector, and the cost difference is very small between the two kits, making them very comparable. However, you do get two Moto protectors for the $15 list price, vs one Spigen protector for the $20-ish Amazon price, making the Moto the better deal on paper. Factor in clarity and durability though, and the Spigen is definitely a contender.

Thanks for the review! When I applied the $15 one I didn't notice much difference in clarity, but maybe I didn't have my glasses on. The thing is, we generally don't apply screen protectors to watches. The two reasons why I applied one are 1) Protecting the resale value. And 2) the finger print is definitely way less noticeable on the protector than the original glass.
Did you notice a difference in the oleophobic coating department?

Thanks for the review. I have been using the Spigen Glas.Tr for my Galaxy S4 and Note 3, never look back at plastic screen protectors ever since! I have gotten the Moto Care Kit, but the Spigen will definitely be in the next Moto 360 accessories list for me.
Oh a quick one, what about screen sensitivity, especially at the edge when you swipe, say Wear Mini Launcher? Was it sensitive enough when you pull the drawer from the edge?

Damn Spigen, they keep coming with products.

i wonder if it has the pixlated effect like what others have mentioned in the other thread about glass screen protectors. I can't stand it because it really bugs me when i went back and look at my old captivate screen. Even though s3 is a pentile display but you can barely notice it from the high res. But what other ppl say about it having that effect is a turn down for me. I hope SGP overcomes that with this one.
Spigen won't release a third-rate product like that Spectre one in the other thread. I have had the glass screen protector from Spigen on both my iPhone 4 and SGS II, both worked perfectly and neither had those dots that are visible on white backgrounds.
Are the glass protectors incompatible with some cases?

Yes, it adds thickness so when you have a tight fit now, it might not fit.

I'm really excited about them releasing one, but I'm also kinda nervous that it looks so much like the "Specter". I wonder why they have to have colors, and can't stay with their normal "clear all over" routine?

well if they do come out like that, im sure a much more reputable company like sgp will be able to replace it or is willing to fix the problem.
I just pre ordered one too, I waited so long for SGP to release this! I'm sure the reason for making this with color layout is to cover up the edges bubbling which I don't mind really. I been a long time SGP customer so I know if anything is wrong with this they will back it up with their awesome customer service. I just can't wait to try!

I am just wondering how they tackled the curved glass on the s3? is the bottom curved to fit the shape? and also is the top of the glas t curved along with the screen or flat?
In other words is the glas t curved to fit the s3's shape (thus making it more vulnerable) or is it curved on the bottom and then flat at top (which may cause issues with cases)?

i think it is flat just like iphone's glas.t series, but on S3 glas series edges are beveled for smoother finish.

Same position, pre-ordered it back then, had the neo hybrid line of cases. First one, after a day or so, the edges were pulling up, due to the case. Emailed up customer service, they said it was my fault since I didn't line it up correctly. They sent me another one either way, and I was extra careful installing it, making sure all the edges were perfectly aligned. Everything was ok, until a few days later, it did it again. Now I am left with a screen protector that is lifting on both sides minus $30. It does say in their FAQ that all their cases are compatible so I assume I have to position the Glas.t within nanometer precision to get it to not bubble? I'm chalking it up to first production issues with weak adhesive. Hopefully with the S3, I won't have this issue.
AVOID the Spigen GLAS.t (Awful Experience)
Here is what I posted on the MacRumors forum about my experience.
I purchased the GLAS.t for my father about 3 weeks ago and the edges are chipping off already. Keep in mind, he keeps this on his desk all day - it is hardly used (work phone). I emailed Customer Service about this and they denied my warranty claim as it is RECOMMENDED that you use a case with this as it is prone to chipping.
Two days passed and a hairline crack formed from the chipped edge. I submitted a request again and received the same response. This is unbelievable! I have purchased upwards of $100 in screen protectors from these guys. No more.
Have any of you had similar experiences? I have attached some photos of the phone with the GLAS.t on it.
I can't imagine the anger you'd have if this happened to your $70 GLAS.t for your iPad..
Eventually, I told them AMEX should be revoking the funds shortly due to their defective product. Immediately, they offered to replace it. Instead, I just asked them to send me some Ultra Crystal's. Hopefully they have improved things a bit though. I noticed that the SIII Glas.T is 0.5MM's thick whereas the iPhone version I had originally was only 0.4mm
I don't know why everyone is bashing on the Xgear protector. It's cheaper, the dots are only annoying in bright lights and it feels great. Don't be so hard on a small company bringing out something that no one else is willing to do.

from my experience, 1 iphone 4s of my using this is still fine and plenty of galaxy note i have installed have no issue like yours,
from what i see, your chips off part is not a manufacturing defects but looks more like mishandling/accidental damage by user itself.....this is only my assumption.

Sounds interesting... a similar product can be the Orzly tempered glass, same thickness (0.3 mm).
The problem is that sellers are from China, and that means looong delivery time (for Europe, al least 1 month or two)

As far as experience tells, no orders I've done from China (and I purchased a lot) have been shipped in less than a month... At least, here in Italy. (I live in Milan).
I just bought the Orzly alternative... my guess is these glass screen protectors are more or less equivalent.
I'm scared however as I think the problems we all read about the Spigen product could also be noticeable on these glass protections.
Let me explain that: it's for sure a Spigen's fault, as probably these protectors have been cut on the basis of a CAD/CAM project, before getting in touch with the phone itself. No one could imagine that Nexus 5 front glass could present a slight irregularity before getting the phone in hand.
I wonder then if:
- Nillkin
- Orzly
- (who's next?)
products will overcome the problem.
It's all in the adhesive component, but I doubt they'll use a better silicon than Spigen.
However, for a bit more that 10 EUR including shipping in 3/4 businness days... it's quite worth it

Just bit the bullet on one from ali, 14 bucks for a 9h tempered and beveled screen protector is a steal!

My review of the amFilm Moto G screen protector

Just received my amFilm screen protectors and have to say they are one of the best plastic screen guards I've used to date. Here is what the company has to say on their amazon page: (then my opinions)
Invisible, superior quality, 3-layer PET film that will not distort the High Definition screen clarity/natural color pallette
Protects screen from daily scratches, dust, scrapes, and normal signs of wear
Attaches smoothly with self-adhering surface, leaves no residue when removed
Includes: (3) Screen Protectors, Micro-Fiber Cleaning Cloth, Squeeze Card, Installation Manual
The package I received looks very professional and was undamaged during transit thanks to the bubble wrap envelope they used to send it in. :good:

Inside the packaging, I found the usual items, (squeegee card, microfiber cloth) plus a couple things usually not found with screen protectors, like detailed installation instructions (2 methods described) and dust removal/hinge stickers. Nice touch.
I prefer using the side hinge method of application, but I'm sure vertical application is just as good.
After applying the protector, I went about looking closely at it in different light sources, swiping and tapping my brains out. I have to say that after the initial "break-in" (getting skin oil worked in) I really couldn't tell the difference between the protector and real glass. It's very smooth and hard. Touch response was not affected at all by it, at least I couldn't tell any difference. There is no rainbow effect when viewed closely in the light, and as a matter of fact, it looks like clear glass.
Screen coverage is just about edge to edge, so even without a case, you really can't tell it's on there. Cutouts are perfectly aligned.
It is somewhat oleophobic, but I have yet to see one that is 100% anti skin oil. But good nonetheless. If I didn't tell you I had a screen protector on my phone, you'd be hard pressed to notice it. This is simply the best one I've used so far, and they now have a loyal customer. And, as of this writing, they are only $1.00 for 3 (includes shipping) http://www.amazon.com/amFilm-Invisi...ywords=amfilm+premium+screen+protector+moto+g
I defy you to find a better deal. Great product, awesome price. I would pay $1 per sheet for these, easily. Look no further if you need screen protectors for your G. amFilm makes screen protectors for other phones too.

This isn't a comparison thread. If you want to talk about that particular screen protector, start a new thread.
I bought one the other day. $1 total.
How is it installed? With water or?
Dry install
Just ordered mine of Amazon. Good price and looks really good!
Got mine today!! I ordered it the 13th and Amazon said it was going to come either the 20th or 25th. Pretty damn good.
The installation is very easy, though you have to have stickers ready when doing step 1-2 because otherwise keeping the protector in "place" is sort of hard because its a little slippery. But once you put on the stickers it's very easy to just simply put it on.
The screen quality is great. I don't even notice it's on. Great protector for the price. I did the Hinge Installation by the way. It's very easy. If you don't get it, watch the video they supply in with the QR code in the instruction manual.
I just received my amFilm screen protectors today, and they're pretty good, but I don't have much to compare them to. I've only put screen protectors on two of my phones before. The only thing I'll have to get used to is the fact that swiping from the side, I catch on the edge of the screen protector. I use Sidebar Pro, with my trigger set at the middle of the right edge of the screen. Swiping to open the bar, I catch on the protector, but not badly enough to disrupt what I'm doing. Other than that, so far, so good.
Hi,
your review reads so awesome that I tried to purchase these protectors. However I live in Germany and they do not ship to countries outside the US.
I would like to ask you for a favour: would someone buy these protectors (pref. with prime for free shipping) and then forward them to be in Germany? Can someone guess how much this would be? I would really appreciate this.
Screen protectors here cost about 9-11 USD and I cannot find any reviews.

They are no longer $1.00 on amazon, and now go for $4.95. With shipping, they would be very expensive. You're better off just buying what's available in Germany.

So they don't get unresponsive? I've had some on my Pico which did.
after removing the crap screen protector that came with my otterbox commuter case, which had an insane amount of glare and made the screen so unresponsive it was frustrating, this HD clear screen protector by amfilm truly delivers as op stated. there is now zero glare and the touch responsiveness is pin point accurate! I'm one very satisfied customer. thank you for the recommendation sir.

Best case and curved glass screen protector combo

Looking for a good curved tempered glass protector (tried 2 different ones and they've both gotten dust under them in less than 48hrs and the corners have the annoying sticking/clicking issue) and a case that won't push on the glass as I suspect that's my biggest issue, my current case pushes against the glass protectors i've tried and doesn't allow them to fully adhere.
Currently have the spigen rugged armor on my phone, it was just the first one i've tried (and we all know it takes trying several before we find just the right one) so let me know what case/glass combo you've got that's working perfectly for you!
My Pixel 2 XL hasn't arrived yet but from my experience with my S7 edge I never found a good curved screen protector. Unfortunately the curves mean that adhesion to the screen is terrible, touch response problems and/or dust under the screen is unavoidable.

I have Amfilm updated version and Spigen Neo Hybrid. They are perfectly matched, with no lint traps along any of the edges. Only part of the phone with no protector coverage is the small gap between the speakers and the case lip.

I got a weird no brand NXET 3D curve and it's not that bad, waiting for a VRS Design black case and an IntelliArmor that should be a worthy combo
I had to abandon my first screen protector because my Spigen Rugged Armor was pushing on the sides, causing it to click and lift up. I'm waiting on my IntelliGlass 3D protector to ship. Hopefully that ones a tiny bit narrower as I like my base, but would like to get a protector on as well.

Whitestones are good on the Samsung. Though the price is high and the install is a little tougher. Hopefully we get a Whitestone for the 2 xl.
amFilm Tempered Glass paired with the Suensan TPU case is absolutely perfect, in my opinion. The coverage is as close to 100% as you are going to get. The amFilm protector (version 2) has excellent adhesive and doesn't get smudged up with fingerprints. The Suensan TPU case is a very firm fit with excellent responsive buttons. And I was pleased to see that using squeeze for assistant doesn't push the case into the protector.
I HIGHLY recommend this combo.

amFilm Proector: (Ignore the bad reviews. They are all from people who got version 1, like I initially did, which had issues. My v2 replacement has been absolutely perfect.)

Give it a bit. I have heard a lot of people talking about dust getting under those as time goes on.

Eh, in time that's bound to happen with any curved protector that only adheres around the edges. Dust always makes its way in at some point. This has been the case on my last 2 phones (OnePlus 3 and Pixel XL), no matter what brand I used, including Spigen, Orzly, amFilm etc.
With that said, the Version 1 amFilm for the 2 XL had terrible adhesive and the protector barely stayed on the phone. Within 2 days I had dust underneath. The only reason why I bothered with another one was because it developed a crack on the top corner, out of nowhere, and they sent me a replacement for free. The Version 2 is a whole different story and is much improved. It has the stickiest adhesive I've used on any curved TG protector in the past 2 years and has the most difficult to see dot matrix I've seen on any prior protector.
Overall, it is a great option and I'd buy it again if I had to. I'm almost 2 weeks in with no dust underneath and while I know it's inevitable that some will make its way in, I don't anticipate it happening any time soon.
Spigen Rugged Armor paired with Moshi IonGlass
I'm running with the Diztronic and a temporary Zagg. All of these first-run TGSPs are horrible and rainbow like crazy but I don't think I can do any better at the moment.
This dot matrix craze has poisoned the entire market.

I don't know what you mean. I just checked and it's available on their website.
I got it from local TELUS (canadian mobile provider) store. TGSP has adhesive just around borders but it's great and most important... no dot matrix.
I'd love to know more about the Moshi molded TGSP for the P2XL. I've got a Zagg / Invisible Shield on mine now -- installed courtesy of Verizon (while I choked on the price), along with a Speck Presidio case. The phone is protected, but the Invisible Shield is NOT the right fit for the nice curved screen - it's flat, can't extend to the curved edges, catches dust, etc. However it DOES protect the screen for the moment.
Anyway - the Moshi protectors are here:
https://www.moshi.com/moshicom-ionglass-screen-protector-pixel-2-xl
I'd just love to see some reviews before dropping another $35 on yet another accessory. Does the curved shape match the edges of the P2XL properly? How do the cutouts fit? What's it like having only the edges stuck down (is that how it works?) and do you see gaps in the middle?
It shouldn't be so hard / painful to get a properly fitting TGSP for a new flagship phone like this!

Pixel 3 Tempered Glass Screen Protector

Are you going to get a Tempered Glass Screen Protector for your Pixel 3? I might give caseology a try on this one but I'm probably going to wait at least a month to see reviews.
For now I'm going to try this

Get a few from these guys while you're waiting. Keep your screen somewhat protected until we have time to figure out the best screen protectors.
These flexible glass screen protectors have been a game changer for me.

I prefer thin cases and traditional tempered glass is so thick that it sticks up beyond the lip of my case. These protect like glass, but flex just enough to not shatter on the first drop.
I am not affiliated with Brotect in any way. Just sharing my experience.
Until Whitestone Dome comes out with a screen protector for the Pixel 3/XL (or Belkin joins the Made for Google gang), you can pretty much guarantee that all options are going to provide a sub-optimal experience (rainbow effect, smaller than the viewable display, weak and visible adhesive, etc).
I've ordered the Verizon branded one so it's ready for when my phone arrives. I'm not optimistic in the least bit, but it's some sort of protection until hopefully Whitestone drops some love on the P3.

I hope you're right that Whitestone Dome comes out with their own version for the pixel 3. I love the one that's on my pixel 2 XL. It's perfect no bubbles
I too purchased the Verizon glass screen protector for my Pixel 3 but, when WhiteStone comes out with theirs I will def buy. Had one on my S9 and it was the total best experience for a glass screen protector. As long as you follow the directions and have patience it far outweighs any other protector with regard to clarity, screen adhesion, and toughness.
My Pixel 3 XL arrived this am sooner than expected. Was thinking of stoping by the Verizon Store to see if they have any of theirs in stock until something solid starts to surface. I have Whitestone on XL 2. It's shattered and cracked but great!! I ordered a Bodyguard but thinking of canceling it. Anyone got pics of anything installed? IntelliArmor, Verizon, etc.? Already seeing the cheap China brand reviews pop up on Amazon as bunk. Just hoping something is decent since the curve seems not so extreme.
Installed the Verizon protector last night and have to say it's not bad at all. I like that it has adhesive all over vs just the edges, so no rainbow effect. Took my time to align with masking tape (make sure the screen is lit when you do it) and I'm very happy with the end result. I had bubbles that wouldn't initially go away, but figured they would once the screen warmed up (and they did). The fit is also great, covers all of the viewable display.
I'd say this one is a winner (esp. for the price).

Do your edges lift? I stopped in a store yesterday and let them apply it. It does not stick around all the side edges and a few places on the bottom and top edges.

Did they use a template to apply it or guesstimate the application? I had mine arrive in the mail so I installed it myself. I don't have any lifting on the edges. You can try to warm up your screen by having it play a video for 20-30 mins then try pressing down on the edges that are coming up. Might work.

Nah, he eyeballed it. He also had to pull it and reset it a few times so I think he exceeded the capacity of the adhesive to handle it. I can take it in and let them try again or get a refund. Good to know there is a chance it can stick. I might hit it with a hair dryer today. I agree with you looks like it should stick.
I know it's not tempered glass but the LK wet install screen protector fits very well and the install is easy (for a wet install).
I generally don't like these type of screen protectors, but thought this would be a good quick option to hold me over until better ones are available.
I just received the iq shield 9h blah blah blah, from Amazon, and it came right back off. Worse than an old otterbox. I'll be returning it on Monday. It doesn't touch at all at the top and bottom, and barely in the middle.
I really liked their liquid skin on my one plus 3, will be going back to a soft screen protector.
Used tempered glass on my old n4 and n6 and never looked back. Tried to give the cover on the poetic case a chance for a day but I just didn't feel it had the same protection if I kept keys in my pocket. Might prevent surface scratches but would not re-distribute pressure along the entire screen if it ever pushed too hard against it. tempered glass protectors are on the way.
Is anyone using the ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass+ for the regular Pixel 3 and can give some feedback?

Flexible glass screen protector installed. Edges aren't perfect, but it has good coverage around sensor and camera cutouts. Plus, it's super thin and doesn't touch the surface when placed face down.
Not bad for only $5
