Full Nandoid Backup - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

Hi everyone
I want to upgrade my Huawei P6 phone from B119 to Kit Kat
after reading all the post I want to do a full backup before doing anything
I have rooted my phone using an App called Root Tool
I recently installed Rom Manager and it says I have installed TWRP
but when I select "Reboot into Recovery" It reboots and I get a screen that has blue options
Android system recovery <3e>
Android system recovery utility
-- reboot system now
-- apply update from external storage
-- wipe date/factory reset
-- wipe cache partition
-- apply update from cache
But I see no option to do backups or restores
Did I miss installing something...?
Thanks

In your case you need to install custom recovery first in order to make a full nandroid bkp. The one that you go in at this moment is stock recovery and it doesn't have the option to backup. Since you have JB atm, I suggest you find the thread for JB TWRP and follow the instructions.

Thanks
I was able to install TWRP successfully and backup my phone completly
After I was able also to upgrade my phone to B132 then to B510
and now finally im at B513 with TWRP 2.8 and everything is looking good

Noob questions regarding installing CM

I rooted my phone back in December/January and installed the visionary rom on my Bell Desire Z. I've since wiped my pc hdd nad since I haven't done anything in a while relating to root, I've forgotten a lot. I have a few simple questions regarding the instructions for installing the CM7 rom.
It says to do a Nandroid backup. I'm assuming clockwork will work for a nand backup just as well right?
How do I wipe it? Use the factory reset data in settings? Will I have to reinstall clockwork recovery and titanium backup? Will I have root it again?
I'm getting the info from this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=956227
It also says to optionally install the google addon. What is that and where do I get it. I was also looking at baconbits with CM7 in Clockwork. Is that what enables overclocking?
A nandroid back up is created within clockwork mod, which can be accessed by going into recovery manually or through rom manager, which will be already present in many of the roms you'll flash.
One you're rooted, no need to reroot. All apps usually get reinstalled automatically.

What about wiping it? How do I do that?

When you're doing an install in Clockwork, it prompts you for doing a backup (Nandroid) and also asks if you want to wipe your phone and cache.
Ok, thanks a lot. I've done a Rom install through Clockwork before, but that was awhile ago.
So I'm having problems installing it. When Clockwork asked me to wipe and backup, it would just restart on me. So I went into Clockwork and told it to reboot into recovery mode and I made a back up and wiped my data from there.
Now when I try to install a CM from sd card in Clockwork it just reboots...thats it. I updated to Clockwork 3. It says under current version it's 3, but at the top of the screen it still says 2.5. How do I fix this and install CM?
Edit...I tried clearing the download cache in clockwork and then when I tried to install rom it showed as a zip file. I added the G-app zip to the CM zip but it still rebooted.
Reedit : Installed the zips manually...got repeating android on skateboard and wiped both options in recovery mode and now it's ok. Thanks for all your help.

I think you might be getting CWM and RM confused; when you boot into recovery, what color is the text, orange or green?

[Q] Deleted Apex, now device will not boot

The issue: I made the mistake of upgrading Apex today. I wanted to go back to 1.2.5, so I deleted the new Apex thinking I could just reinstall the old version from an apk. However, I think I may have frozen a necessary component for touchwiz (with chef's freezer), because when I deleted Apex and rebooted, I found my screen won't get passed the glowing Samsung logo.
So I want to restore a backup, but I don't seem to have the option. I created a nandroid a week or so ago. I'm trying to boot to it, but my recovery screen gives me only these options: 1) reboot system now; 2) apply update from external storage; 3) wipe data/factory reset; 4) wipe cache partition; 5) apply update from cache. Where is restore backup??!
I just connected with Odin and flashed clockwork on there again just to be sure, but I still don't have backup or restore as options. Please help!!
What version of cwm recovery did you push through Odin?

CM10 bootloop

I am new to rooting and rom'ing. I was able to root my Hercules using clockwork 6.0 and was in the process of installing cm10 and it froze up, and after i rebooted it got stuck in a boot loop. I did do a back up of my stock rom and have gotten it to factory reset back to astock rooted rom, not sure if it is my backup stock rom. The process that I read to rom it is to install darkside wipe, then cm10, then gapps. I have wiped data, cache and davlik cache, i am trying to get it to install cm10, but it doesn't seem to want to install. what should i do to get it to start over and get cm10 rom on?
I would only use the Darkside wipe scripts on CWM 5.X. Use Odin to reflash the recovery of your choice and then format system, factory reset, and then flash CM10.

Thanks, I didn't know that, guess the instruction i found were a little outdated. I'll try your suggestion. What do mean by formattin it? (I thought the factory reset does that?) Also how long should it take for cm10 to install?

Formatting the system only formats the /system partition and wipe data formats the /data partition.
What do you mean?

I would have made a backup of the stock rom then from the stock rom downloaded goomanager from play store then flash newest twrp recovery, then wiped and installed a appropriate ROM

You missed /System as well [hence why the stock ROM booted again otherwise if you actually formatted where the ROM was there is no backup ROM.
You should move to Jellybean [I have used ParanoidAndroid as a daily druver for months now and it is newer [Android 4.1.2].,
No matter which ROM you choose, first boot phone
download ROM Manager [Free is fine]
Open it, grant Super User
Tap top-most option to install Clockwork Recovery and it will walk you through getting etiher the non-touch for free or paying $2 for touch recovery [unless you flashed that via Odin then skip], but need to be sure you have newest CWM and not an old one from a rooting guide that been around.
Boot to recovery wi[e cache
tap advanced wipe dalvick
go back one menu
go to mounts and storage tap to wipe system, and data
go back one menu to main
tap install zip from SDCard
Tap internatl or external wherver you saved it and find the CM 10 you downloaded and tap and flash it
do the same but find where you saved the gapps pack
now restart device and enjoy
continual boot loop...tried everything here.

I got cm10 on for about 20 minutes then CWM updated to 6.x. I flashed a nightly and it's been in a bootloop ever since. However, when I was on CM10 those few brief minutes I could not hear or he heard on a call.
No idea what to do now. I'm stuck on 2.3.6 unless there's some other trick I can do to get this thing to boot...
Why not just try a different rom? Lots of options out there.
Also, watch the dates on the how to's you read. A lot can be outdated.

Install stock rom with flashtool (wipe everything). Root it. Install CWM. You should then restore whatever backup you have...

if I wanted to save my data partition & update it to f2fs, would an adb backup before the format & restore after do the trick?
Id recommend to use magisk and phh's systemless su.

for data partition, just do backup using Titanium and restore afterwards,
for internal storage, use adb pull /sdcard (or /storage/emulated/0 ) to pull the files to your PC and just push it later
you also can use TWRP backup for data and restoring by choosing "rm-rf" method in the setting

Hi @Scronix,
I did wipe "Data partition" but did not do factory reset. Do I need to wipe cache & dalvik as well to get rid of encryption issue?
Also, I can first restore my backup from google account and take nandroid backup before processing to flashing su right? So, only extra step in original instructions posted in pinned OP3 thread is to do factory reset after installing twrp.

Sorry for noob comments. This is first time I am experimenting with my device and want to proceed cautiously.

i strongly recommend A factory reset, also do not restore google backup for best result Also the factory reset s to be done by TWRP not stock and install SuperSU Before Booting into system
Thanks everyone for help. I was able to root after updating TWRP to official 3.0.3 and following guides.
I am still new to tinkering with my device. I will try magisk and system less su soon.
