Htc m8 GPE for T-Mobile? - T-Mobile HTC One (M8)

Hi...is there away of me to convert my htc m8 to a gpe?
Sent from my LG G3.

don't do that im now in GPE searching how to back to stock ; GPE version isn't better than sense

I did the switch and I quite like it. Have said that, I quite liked sense too. I really like the Google dialer and the fact that I'll get updated quickly when the new os hits. I love that it still can make use of the dual camera and some of the motion launch shortcuts. I miss blink feed a lot, but I can live without it.

Nice now im in Stock t mobile here is how the probleme was fixed :
1- write the t mobile CID (IF is changed)
2- relock bootloader
3-flash original OTA firmware 1.57......
phone will stuck in splash screen (don't worry juast hohld VOLUP+POWER for 10 second you will be in bootloader)
4- run the latest RUU 2.52 ....FOR T MOBILE
5- ENJOY

Is the phone reception as good or the same as it is in sense? im thinking about switching but i've read mixed experiences on this. Also, is the sound of lesser quality than it would be on sense?

Haven't experienced any sound issues other than occasional echo but I believe that is caused by a bad connection. My signal strength shows lower than before but I haven't found it to be an issue. Don't know if it's actually lower or being shown as less bars.

Is there a specific radio for the gpe, because I don't get as strong as a signal from sense,

There is a radio in the gpe ruu. I flashed a T-Mobile radio from the latest update and haven't noticed much difference.

Yeah i second that, flashed latest T-Mobile radios 1.12 and 1.16 on GPE through TWRP; noticed 0 difference, back on complete stock GPE. Sense Rom has better LTE Connectivity (Testing a Sense device at the moment so i can compare the two) Sucks but what are you gonna do? Im not going back to Sense...

I second that my dBm is good but my asu isn't very good

Just to throw my 2 cents in, Sense is not as bad as sum, i.e. TouchWiz. I would give it a shot before jumping ship.
At worst case, if you want a GPE, you can S-Off, root etc and then load the rom for that.

Although I would have had to pay full price for a "real" GPE, next to getting the newest pure android software updates, the coolest thing about it is the matte aluminum finish which is more similar to the HTC One m7...And personally I like it a lot more than the drab "gunmetal"
Also...for those of you who have flashed a gpe ruu, do you have root? Can you run xposed modules (if you aren't using ART instead of Dalvik anyway)?
I think someone above asked about theming on the gpe... I think I would wonder about that to. I am sure the Google Now launcher is swell...But I would want the ability to use whatever launcher i want (except obviously a Sense version).

[Q] How can I Disable the Optical Joystick (OJ)

Simple enough, mines finally going haywire without use. Is there a way to disable it without taking my phone apart to disable it.
(Trackpad, OJ) just wondering, its causing me to lose alot of battery with Roms including the OJ wake.
Is there a way or am I doomed? Its a pretty useless feature on this phone.
Sent from my HTC Droid Incredible using Tapatalk
Pretty sure there is an edit that'll disable it, but I got to dig around for it.
Side note, have you tried cleaning it? A haywire OJ is usually a dirty one.

Surprising out of the almost 2 years I've had this thing its been pretty clean. I used a q-tip and rubbed around it, used some water on the q-tip and then clean it.
Not sure why its happening.. but I'm just guessing its/its time.
It works but I feel its the reason my phone turns in to.the lockscreen and pauses my videos and switches screens on me at times.
Sent from my HTC Droid Incredible using Tapatalk
Since you've already voided the warranty, just pop the back off (ie. remove the screws) and unplug the OJ connector..
It possibly can be disabled in the kernel.

This won't disable in recovery but I'm sure you're ok with that. Please let me know if there's any ill effects from this like battery drain and this is definitely a hack. GB sense only for now. I couldn't find out anything online too easily and ideas I tried on the ROM side didn't work.

Doubt it. If indeed the kernel does break the ROM. Doesn't make sense. Does that ROM have ext4 built in? If it does sometimes you need to flash the ext4 mod again before flashing a kernel.
Also, I've heard nothing about this 3.5 beta.

GOD WHY!!!!

Why is it so hard to get a ROM that doesn't glitch and lag like its windows97??
Ive tried PACMan, CM10, and AKOP JB for the PrimoC and all of the are ssssoooooo laggy and glitchy, i flip through screens on my phone and it occasionally flashes white or freezes, also the Home button doesnt work(as in i press it an it doesnt do anyhting) it makes me so frustrated!
What ive come here to ask is if this is how custom ROM's usually are or is it the kernel that i flashed? Lastly does someone know of a ROM that is STOCK ICS from google, hardly any bugs just pure android.
Just before this getting deleted, I'm going to recommend you to try chameleon rom. Good luck

:::DDDDD i just reflashed AKOP JB with the new kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844049 and AKP's working sooo smothly no laggyness or glitchy and the home button works !!!!!
For what its worth i had some lagginess with mine, turning off the swap partitions seems to have helps so far, one of the roms seemed to add them ( or previous owner of the phone)
Goto your terminal:
su
cat /proc/swaps
swapoff <devices listed above>
Hope it helps somewhat.

HTC Sense
I'm a bigger fan of HTC Sense. I notice the battery life is better, and reception is better. I'm also big on using the home button for the home menu by long pressing, and google now by swiping up. I haven't found a way to get the functionality on AOSP. And the camera interface is better in Sense

Best Rom in your opinion

so instead of trying all the roms ill see what your favorite rom is. i hoped to use Android Revolution but it doesnt support verizon, so what rom has the best battery life is my main concern.

It'll be in your best interest to try them out. Any of the sense roms are great (ecliptic or any nusense). You'll find people that are lean towards one or the other...it's just personal preference. Couldn't tell ya about any aosp roms though. I'm one of the weird ones that thinks Sense is way better (and much more stable).
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
Battery life sense nusense by far has the best battery life. But tethering just had to much issues. Best tethering in a sense ROM is ecliptic.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
AOSP - DarkSlide
Sense - Ecliptic
GPE - Joelz port
I'm switching back and forth between DS and Ecliptic.
I hear Solar Flare is pretty decent.
Just trolling....Only way to find out what is the "best" is to try them all. The "best" is subjective and depends on your usage. But everyone's replies are pretty much stating that.
I'd vote for unsense as well. Fast and solid.

If you want something a little different that's based on Sense 6, try out Bonestock or NuSenseSix.

Can't turn on wifi and camera

Hardware like WiFi and camera not working are indicative of a kernel/ROM mismatch. Viper is probably not compatible with that kernel; and therefore not compatible with your variant.

You might inquire with the developer of Viper for support of your device. But if the kernels are different, it may be difficult for the dev to get it working. There isn't anything you can do to make it work, as far as I know.

No, I already said you aren't going to magically make it work by fumbling around randomly unless you have some specific experience as a developer.
I'm no dev, but my guess is that Viper isn't going to work, and would have to be built from the ground up using the stock ROM from your phone as the base.

Then study up, and we look forward to seeing your dev work here!
Understand that the kernel (which is the primary component in boot.img - not the only thing in that file, but the main component) is the vital component that makes the software work with the hardware. So you can see why having the wrong kernel will cause various hardware (WiFi, camera) to fail. You've already determined that the kernel for Viper will not work on your phone. So its pretty easy to conclude the reverse will also not work (using a M8T kernel with Viper).
Perhaps your version is close enough that the Viper team can get the kernel working for your device. But its going to take specialized knowledge, not guesswork.
