If I connect it with the PC the battery indicator in the status bar shows the animation after a short wile but longer as normal and it wont charge. In the battery status menu is written that is no charging.

Generally, a red light is some kind of hardware failure. However, it could be a failure of the charging circuit.
Try a different battery and see what happens.
Battery controller or motherboard down... you will go to service
i think your batrry is die!
Before you do that. Try using another charger.
Red indicator means that it's not charging.
Batteries dont die that fast, FYI.
How do you fix the circuit failure ,ive got the same prob but mine keeps restarting when i put in the cradle ...?
qtek 9090 show only red indicator when charging
So guys, any solution how to fix the problem with constantly restarting device in the cradle??? And suggestion how to power it on whithout the power supply??? BTW Tried with different AKB, no success!!!
Plug it in usb cable without battery first, and put battery in.
The battery needs to have some charge on it. Try cradle to charge it a bit before.
Hello guys,
I have a problem, i haven't used my VPAIII for 6 months, and some days ago i wanted to turn it on, and it didn't react, so i decided that battery is low, i connected my device to cradle, and wait for some hours. So the problem is then device in cradle it's ok i can switch it on and it works perfectly, but if i remove it from cradle it turns off imediately and i can't turn on it again without connecting to cradle chargement, also it doesnt react to usb connection as chargment. Battery is totaly new it was bought from ebay (expanded 3400 mAH). Interesting thing that if i connect to cradle, device turns on automaticall and 1 time blinks led in red and goes booting system with no led light, after i see Windows screen it starting show the same right led in orange always, i see charging battery meter in windows but battery didnt go more then 50%, and everytime i boot on i receive Backup battery Very Low notification no matter how much i was charging my battery.
So i'm afraid maybe it's internal backup battery failure, or my main battery didn't get chargement then it says that charging. Maybe someone of You guys have any usefull advices, what can be the problem? Also if it possible maybe somebody can give me alink or image to see there this backup battery soldered on scheme.
Thanks ppl!!!

It sounds like the main battery is bad.
Is the battery you picked up new, or new as of 6 months ago? If it's new-new, it is still possible that it is bad.
Also, the charging circuit may have died. Most electronics will work and work, and when they do die, it's usually when power is applied to them (turned on, charged, etc).
The fact that it does charge up to 50% makes me think the main battery is bad. Do you still have the original battery? Try it and see what that does.

The internal battery is used only when the main battery is discharged or missing.

Thanks for reply, new battery i bought maybe 4-6 months ago i used it maybe 1 week, after that i turned off my device and left it for 4-6 months, so nothing should be happened to battery. I'll check device with old one, but it seems that device didn't work with original old one battery too.
Any other solutions, advices?
Thank You very much guys for help!!!!

Hi,
I went away for three weeks and before I went off I turned my touch pro 2 off but on return the phone doesnt switch on.
I'm assuming the battery is beyone dead, I have tried wall charge and USB charge and it doesnt register the orange charging light..
But i notice when I plug the usb mini port at the bottom to a charge source the left orange indicator light flickers for a second
Any suggestions, thanks in advance.

Try leaving your phone on the wall charger (USB is not enough) for several hours (overnight at least) and try to power on again. I've seen a few people that drained their battery too low, and got it working again that way. Otherwise you may need a new battery.
Have just received new Galaxy Nexus and plugged it into the charger. The screen showed a battery icon with a lightning bolt for a few seconds, then it changed to a battery icon filling up for 5 seconds, then it disappeared. If I unplug and plug it back in the same thing happens. I've left it for over 2 hours now and there's nothing on the screen still, and no LED's lit up anywhere. Is it charging?
I don't want to turn it on in case this will affect the first charge. Can anyone tell me if it is actually charging?
(Yes this is a question, but where is the Q&A forum for Galaxy Nexus?)
Update: Now if I unplug and plug back in I see what looks like a full battery icon, but it disappears after a few seconds...

Yeah it's charging. If you tap the power button briefly, an animated battery icon will show it charging on the screen.
I too find it very odd that the notification LED doesn't give any visual feedback of whether it's charging or not. In fact, I noticed this morning that the LED doesn't seem to work at all when it's on charge - you have to turn on the screen to see if you have any messages.
Phew! Thanks for that, I pressed the power button and yes the icon is displayed, looking full. But I think I will leave it for a while longer until I turn it on for the first time...
The LED at the bottom is only for notifications, not for battery status. The Nexus One had 2 LEDs, one in the screen and one in the trackball. Only the small screen one lit up for batter charging/charged/low. This is because that small LED was hard wired to the motherboard, so it displayed even when the device was off and charging.

Got mine delivered today.
It's not charging at all.
Battery icon changes to show it's charging, but clicking on the battery settings says it's discharging, in fact in ran out of juice while i had it plugged in !!!
I know it's not the charger or the battery as these have been tested on another galaxy nexus without issue.
Anyone any thoughts, I'm assuming it's a phone hardware problem, not a software problem.
Thanks.

The same with my device .
Now battery is fully discharged and turns only for 2 sec with connected charger.
Charger itself is ok (charges another i9000).
Tried to connect PC USB - was synchronized perfectly while battery was ok but not charged.
How did you solve a problem??
I too seemingly have got this problem on the phone I got today...
EDIT
contacted Amazon, claimed they had heard of the problem and replaced it same day, it's gone back for inspection.
I exchanged my phone due to screen issues. Now i have my new phone, screen is good but it wont charge. I used both Verizon's car charger and home charger provided by Samsung (original that came with the box). When i plug in it will say "not charging" and when unplugged it says "discharging". When plugged it i do have the battery with thunderbolt symbol. I tried turning off the phone and removing battery and re-inserting it and plugged in again, same issue.
Hi guys, today I faced the following problem.
The battery was completely drained (0%) and the device was off. I connected it to the original charger with the original cable. The screen turned on but the battery icon showed a red disc in his centre with a white exclamation mark inside of it and the battery didn't charge.
I charged the phone at work with another non-original charging he. It worked and now, if I try to use the original charger again, it works and charges fast.
What could it mean?
