There seems to be a very unusual stuck pixel on my brand new One M8. It's a bright, light blue color. I can easily make it out on the dark notification bar when I drag it down, but only over apps. On the home screen, the stuck pixel is entirely gone when I'm using a live wallpaper, but rears it's ugly head if I switch to a regular wallpaper.
The pixel does not show up on any of the screens in Dead Pixel Test. However, bringing down the notification center over the White, Cyan, Green, and Yellow screens will cause the bright pixel to show up.
The pixel also shows up over Youtube videos in the Youtube app, but disappears when I switch to fullscreen mode.
I'm running the stock firmware
Android version 4.4.3
HTC Sense version 6.0
Software number 2.22.1540.4
HTC SDK API level 6.25
I'm running the latest version of Nova Launcher, but switching back to the stock BlinkFeed launcher doesn't seem to help.
Is it there in fastboot mode?
I'm having trouble getting this thing to get to the boot loader. It just keeps booting the OS like normal.
I took some pictures of it with my iPad and made an album on Imgur, to show off the weirdness.

OK, it doesn't appear to show up in fast boot.
I wouldn't usually suggest it at first... but I haven't seen an issue like this before. Try to do a factory reset from settings, take a nandroid backup first to restore later. Let me know if you still see it after the restore.

It just showed up an hour ago. It only shows on images, not even on google images. Only images on my phone. Its just 1 red dot in the upper left. But it doesnt show up on anything besides my images and the boot screen. So is it a dead pixel or did something happen? I changed my wallpaper and now it shows on pretty much any images with a dark background of blue black or grey. Is it a dead pixel or is something else wrong? It just bugs me is all.

I have no good cameras that could pick it up. Its a very small red dot. It only appears on images, like I said. Not menus, not programs, nothing but the images on my phone.
Is it showing up on the Images that you take with the built in camera, or with any image that you load onto the phone?
If it is the prior, then it could be either hardware (camera) or software (driver).
If it is the later, then it could be software (photo-viewing app).
Is it specific to SOME images, or have you tried every image on your phone...
More specifics would make it easier to come to some sort of conclusion
Anyone else has the display darker, where they have or had the 3-dot menu bar ?
I noticed this earlier, but didn't pay attention to it. But the part to the softkeys is visibly darker, as the part next to the HTC logo.
When using gmail for example, or just the dead pixel test on white. I can see that its not even.
Normal, lightning issue, faulty device? Or has it something to do with the soft keys?
Visibly darker means I can see it. But I am also able to spot pentile matrix miles away. So the average person might not see it.
Not sure I can capture it on pictures as well. Will try maybe later.
Which rom are you currently using? I havent noticed anything on CM10 or ViperX.

Am stock, but I noticed this as I bought it few days-weeks after. Even as I had the 3 dot (now rooted with 3 dot fix ) is visible more.
I do not think its a ROM or maybe even SW issue. Seems to me like the display just isn't evenly led.
I have recently noticed that interface when setting a new wallpaper has changed from before. I first thought that maybe it is part of the 2.17.401.2 update but then I clearly remember that the change in the wallpaper settings interface has only occurred weeks after I flashed the latest RUU. Anyway, please compare the pics I have attached to what you see on your One X's. Notice that when the phone prompts me too resize my image, the screen kind of becomes washed out in contrast. And the lines indicating the margins have also changed. I have already tried restarting my phone but it is still the same. I apologize for the low res images as I am currently far from my desktop.

i have that setting since 2.17.401.2.
you can also enlarge the square by holding a corner (only found out a week later -_-)
Hey XDA, wanted to get thoughts or suggestions on this.
I noticed what appears to be a stuck pixel on my m8 today, but it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me.
Pixel appears to be stuck on (all white), but is only visible on lighter images such as white backgrounds and other lighter colors. Not visible on gray or black images, which seems counter intuitive.
I've restarted several times, run a pixel fix app for about twenty minutes, and verified it's also visible in TWRP recovery, so definitely appears to be hardware.
Any thoughts on a fix, or why it's only visible on lighter backgrounds although is "stuck on" and all white itself? I'd figure it would be more readily visible on dark scenes, but nope!
Thanks in advance for any input.

Im not quite sure how the display works, but maybe the darker images dont activate or light up that actual pixel? Anyways, why dont you bring it to your dealer?
Call me odd but i don't want a background on my homescreen or lock screen. I simply want it plain black. But I see no option to simply pick no background which with every other smartphone I ever owned or messed around with resulted in a plain black background. How do I set no background? Thanks

Just find a black image and use that.

go on google find a black background and set it as the wallpaper?
Take a picture on your phone in a dark room with your camera facing down on a desk and set it as the wallpaper?
I had thought of doing that. But I thought the idea of the no background was so that the background wasn't consuming resources. Every time I exit an app it has to load the background like android decided to turn it off while in the app. So even though the background image would be all black it's still going to have to go through that processing. I am not sure of the impact of that. I know with older devices having no background was recommended because it consumed resources. I don't know why there is a no background setting, it seems kind of stupid that it was left out.
