Hey XDA, wanted to get thoughts or suggestions on this.
I noticed what appears to be a stuck pixel on my m8 today, but it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me.
Pixel appears to be stuck on (all white), but is only visible on lighter images such as white backgrounds and other lighter colors. Not visible on gray or black images, which seems counter intuitive.
I've restarted several times, run a pixel fix app for about twenty minutes, and verified it's also visible in TWRP recovery, so definitely appears to be hardware.
Any thoughts on a fix, or why it's only visible on lighter backgrounds although is "stuck on" and all white itself? I'd figure it would be more readily visible on dark scenes, but nope!
Thanks in advance for any input.

Im not quite sure how the display works, but maybe the darker images dont activate or light up that actual pixel? Anyways, why dont you bring it to your dealer?

It just showed up an hour ago. It only shows on images, not even on google images. Only images on my phone. Its just 1 red dot in the upper left. But it doesnt show up on anything besides my images and the boot screen. So is it a dead pixel or did something happen? I changed my wallpaper and now it shows on pretty much any images with a dark background of blue black or grey. Is it a dead pixel or is something else wrong? It just bugs me is all.

I have no good cameras that could pick it up. Its a very small red dot. It only appears on images, like I said. Not menus, not programs, nothing but the images on my phone.
Is it showing up on the Images that you take with the built in camera, or with any image that you load onto the phone?
If it is the prior, then it could be either hardware (camera) or software (driver).
If it is the later, then it could be software (photo-viewing app).
Is it specific to SOME images, or have you tried every image on your phone...
More specifics would make it easier to come to some sort of conclusion
Guys can you help me out with this, its a simple doubt I don't know what it means....Please look at the picture attached and you will find white bright spots(4'o clock position in the image). What is it
P.S IT(THE SPOT) CHANGES ITS BRIGHTNESS INTENSITY WHEN EXPOSED TO DIFFERENT COLOURS, WHEN BLACK ITS ALSO FULL BLACK.
Have you hit the screen or dropped the device recently?
Looks like you have a stuck pixel, try using a video of an off tune signal to see if it fixes, might have to run the video for a few hours.
This might fix: http://www.jscreenfix.com/
Not sure if it's possible to run on a tablet though..

I tried many stuck pixel fixing application... Still no use...
I use my Android tablets for reading, using Google Play Books. I prefer a bright white background. With my Nexus 7 (2013) it's a pure white background, just the way I like it. With the Tab S 8.4 I can't seem to achieve bright white. It's more like a light sepia. I know sepia is a choice but that's a very dark (to my eyes) background. I've also played around with the Screen Mode but none of the choices seem to change the GPB background at all. I've turned Reading Mode on and off but I don't see any difference.
I know there are other reading apps but I like having a large library stored in the Google cloud and the ability to switch devices and have the bookmark change with it.
Any suggestions on how to change the background color for just Google Play Books?
I'm having the same problem with my Galaxy Tab 4 7.0". I've tried everything you have and it also doesn't work. I've also noticed that when I click the home button on my device it turns bright white just before closing so I know that the app and device are capable of displaying the correct color.
I know this isn't an answer to your question, just letting you know that you're not the only one. In fact your post is the first I've seen about this issue and I've been Google searching different variations of the question.
Those are my settings, and whites are white as should be.

I seem to get better whites with Basic rather than Cinema. When I use Cinema white has a strong blueish tint, especially on video. Whites on Basic are fine while watching movies, YouTube, etc. Google Play Books is now better with Basic and Reading Mode off but it's still not as bright a white as I would like.
For example, I was watching Ex Machina. An early scene has a helicopter flying over a glacier. With Cinema it looked like a sea of blue. I changed to Basic and the snow and ice turned white. You lose the oversaturated colors with Basic but the blueish whites really bother me on the other settings.
Hi all,
So I've had my Smart Watch 3 for a while now and overall it's great. There's just one thing that's doing my head in... Any screen that uses grey as a background displays in brown... It's not nice at all. True blacks are fine, but any shade of grey is looking awful...
Here's a screenshot from the device and a photo of the same screen:
I can't post external images so now I can't show my problem... Is there another way of showing my problem?
Well, to show the problem, you could link to an image on Google docs or something. As for fixing it, that is a tall order.
It's a tradeoff of the Trans reflective screen. I'll take being able to see the screen without Backlight.
Indeed.
As of right now, everything during my boot process has a dark theme except for a white screen that says Google and has an unlock icon at the bottom. This screen is rather blinding I darker light. Thanks to substratum, I have just about everything darkened in some fashion to not only save my eyes, but also that sweet battery life.
Isn't a significant concern, but more of a discordance in my system's general theme.

No fix for that one at the moment! However, I would definitely agree with you on the blinding aspect. Which is why I don't look at it during a reboot!! ???
I think there was a bounty for this for someone to change it in the OG pixel thread, and the time I was there, no one was able to modify it.
Seems like this Pixel 2 is only tougher in regards to development, so I wouldn't get my hopes up :silly:
Any chance that someone has come across a solution for this since?
None have showed up yet....
