I bet your main is NOT officially 1.54.401 or 2.22.401 your phone displays that because it reads the custom rom you are running. That so called "stock rom" is not the correct stock rom for every device ! Read the OP of that thread, perform the fastboot commands and compare the main version number !
Is the main version number blank you start looking for the CID in that list !
And what do you mean with "can't install stock recovery" flash it like any other recovery. They are all img files !
Installing means I flashed it. But not working. Doesn't enter into recovery when flashed with stock.
Sent from my unknown using XDA Free mobile app
Please check the cid images
Sent from my unknown using XDA Free mobile app
What do you see when you enter the stock recovery ? And this info comes from an app....i want the outcome of the fastboot commands
This stuff also reads your custom rom !
The HTC screen stays on. Noting more. No "entering recovery" text either. . then have to press vol up+ power to reboot.
Sent from my unknown using XDA Free mobile app
Edited my post above. I want to see the fastboot getvar all outcome first. And delete the imei and serial in the picture before you upload it here !

See the problem. Your cid is not the wwe cid and definitely NOT based on 1.54.401 or 2.22.401 ......
Check your CID online (Google) and see if it comes up with a main version number ! That's what you need. As i recall i don't have that cid in my collection.
Didn't you create a stock backup yourself ? Or s-off the device with SUNSHINE.

CAN you please check if this is the right stock recovery for this phone ?

You need :
stock BACKUP (full system backup)
stock kernel (included in the above)
Stock recovery
Getting only the stock recovery will get you nowhere.....And as far as i can read that thread does not offer the stock recovery. But a custom one in chinese language

Not sure which firmware to flash
Hi,
Currently I have a At&T HTC One M8 with the following
Android Version 4.4.3
Rom Version 2.22.401.5
Software Number Android revolution HD 11.1
I wanted to flash the newest ARHD found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2694917
But I saw a few comments saying the WiFi doesn't work unless you have the newest firmware which is 3.28.401.6
So I went to the HTC One M8 firmware collection thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696282
My Phone is S-Off and the CID is the SuperCID 11111111, but when I ran the command "fastboot getvar all" the version-main: was blank as shown below
fastboot getvar all

Is there a reason it is blank?
I was a little concerned whether or not it was safe for me to flash the firmware 3.28.401.6
Thanks for for any help you can provide.

What Rom are you trying to boot into? 4.4.3 or 4.4.4?
You should be able to boot to bootloader. Hold power then immediately volume up and downat same time. When phone powers off release the volume up button and it should boot to boot loader.

Thank so much. It works now but there is an issue that Wi-fi keeps being off when i try to turn it on in Settings.
Any idea for this?
Thanks,
Not sure if this got to do with your version-baseband: 1.19.21331147A1.09G
If not yet updated to 4.19.707.2 ... try a version lower to restore :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55076383&postcount=1728
then do OTA to 3.32.707.9 and later OTA to 4.19.707.2
Can you post your current fastboot getvar all (minus serial no. & imei no.)
Also please edit your post #1 to remove serial no. & imei no.
Or .. if you like to use RUU to directly update your version to 4.19.707.2,
you can get RUU_M8_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_hTC_Asia_WWE_4.19.707.2_R adio_1.25.21331147A1.06G_20.69.4196.01_F_release_4 14204_signed.exe from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56140330&postcount=1
BUT for this RUU, you need to backup all your internal storage to your PC or anywhere that you like because the RUU will wipe everything in your phone.
And to run this RUU, you need to relock bootloader.
1. relock bootloader - fastboot oem lock
2. run RUU (right click the file and select run as administrator)

==============
I have updated to software 4.19.707.2 with Android Version 5.0.1 then I couldn't also turn on Wi-Fi in Settings
and right now my phone keeps restarting over and over.
Another detail is that my original Version-main is not 4.19.707.2 but blank as above because as i mentioned before i did change it in order i could use a stock corresponding to.
Please help
Thanks,

Your version-baseband show that the firmware was not updated. I believe you don't do what I mentioned in the guide that linked for you.
If it is correctly updated, the version-baseband should read 1.25.21331147A1.06G
You blank version-main also show that firmware was not updated correctly and you may not use the suggested TWRP version. Don't use that outdated TWRP 2.7.0.2
You need to this all over again. Updating directly to 4.19.707.2 with TWRP backup is not correct way.
1. Install TWRP 2.8.1.0 - http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m8
command fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.1.0-m8.img
2. Download TWRP backup 3.32.707.9 - https://mega.co.nz/#!wZhxRBjR!kNX7nA-4aLaw-vW15pfr6uXpH2dKa6RC2ZXk3w4NSuw
3. Download stock 3.32.707.9 recovery - http://sourceforge.net/projects/htconem8/files/Recovery/3.32.707.9_recovery.img/download
4. Extract the downloaded 3.32.707.9_ckpv5.zip on PC
5. Boot to TWRP recovery and make a backup of boot only, this is to see where the backup goes on your device.
6. Reboot, connect device to PC then open Internal Storage, TWRP/BACKUPS/SerialNo./
7. Transfer the extracted 3.32.707.9 folder (not 3.32.707.9_ckpv5 folder) and its content to the backup path on your device
TWRP/BACKUPS/SerialNo./3.32.707.9
8. Reboot to TWRP, wipe your device - in TWRP go to wipe - advance - select dalvik cache, cache, data, system (only these)
9. Restore the transferred backup - make sure all boot, data & system are ticked - swipe to restore
10. In reboot menu select bootloader
11. fastboot flash stock recovery that you downloaded - command fastboot flash recovery 3.32.707.9_recovery.img
12. reboot - check for OTA, download, install
13. your device should be updated to 4.19.707.2
14. done
If you want to flash TWRP again, use the latest TWRP 2.8.5.0 after OTA 4.19.707.2
Thank for that,
but my phone keeps restarting therefore i can't access internal storage. I gotta enter bootloader mode by pushing power button and Volume down button to stop it restarting.
What can i do for now?
Thanks,
Press & hold both volume up and power button. When the screen goes off, release both buttons and quickly press & hold volume down button. This will take you to hboot. Press power once, you'll be in bootloader screen.
Fastboot flash the TWRP 2.8.1.0. Boot to recovery, select mount, enable mtp.
You should be able to transfer files to Internal Storage when in recovery.

I got a warning "Its file size is larger than the device limit" when copy the folder 3.32.707.9. It is so ridiculous because my internal storage is 6 GB free and the folder size is just 2.2 GB.
Should i try another TWRP version?
Thanks,

Nothing's wrong with that version but something is odd with your version-baseband which is more like a 3.18.0000 version
Try to restore this 2.22.707.4 version and see whether your wi-fi is working
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55076383&postcount=1728
if yes .. follow all the steps to do OTA .. you'll have 2 OTAs
Hi,
Wi-Fi works perfectly when I went back to 2.22.707.4 as well as update to 3.32.707.9. Unluckily after update to 4.19.707.2, Wi-Fi doesn't work again, can't turn it on. The dump of variables as following

I have no idea why you still have Wifi problem after successfully updated to 4.19.707.2
Everything in getvar look fine.
The only suggestion that I have is make sure you still have stock recovery image installed. Reboot to hboot and select recovery, select wipe data/factory reset .. see whether this helps.
Thank so much!!!
Wi-Fi works properly for now.
You have been very helpful. Appreciate for your helps
Thanks again
Hello I just bought an m8 on aliexpress (took a while to get to me...) and when I first turned it on I noticed that it was already rooted (it is refurbished and they send it that way. It is new but rooted) and is on android 4.4.4, pretty old. There are a lot of improvements with the updates from htc but when I search for the option on the settings it is not there, it should, but it isn't there. So, I want to get it updated with the RUU which I think shoud be the safest option (I don't really care to lose root) but the thing is I don't really know what RUU I am supposed to get! The phone is supposed to be unlocked. This is the information I got with "getvar all"

I don't really know what was done to the phone, and actually my main reason to do this is to update it to lollipop and be able to keep upgrading. If someone can help me with that I would really apreciate it!
First of all it's a verizon phone, secondly it's S-Off and has SuperCID already, interesting.
luckily for you, you just have to download this https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934538714
if you want non verizon rom e.g no bloat and crap like that, I'll help you further, but first you must run the RUU.

Why do you hide an inportant info modelid ? You should remove serial & imei no as they are sensitive info.
Flashing firmware alone won't upgrade your OS.
Install 4.16.401.10 RUU to upgrade your OS (but this will wipe everything on internal storage) - get it here : http://androidruu.com/?developer=M8
Or you can use 4.16.401.10 nandroid backup to upgrade the OS (this will not wipe your internal storage) - get it from link in my signature
i didn't hide nothing

To run a RUU .. you need USB2.0 and latest HTC USB driver installed. If not sure, download HTC Sync Manager - http://www.htc.com/us/support/software/htc-sync-manager.aspx
install it as it will install the latest HTC USB driver then uninstall the HTC Sync Manager but leave the driver.
Also check whether your Win 10 has these 2008 C++ installed. You may need them too.

Hi everyone,
So my HTC one M8 was rooted with TWRP recovery. It was running Android 5.0 I think. I got an OTA update but I was not able to update it because of TWRP. I wanted the update so bad and I searched on Youtube to know how to update the software. I found a video and I followed these steps.
1 - Replace custom recovery with stock recovery
2 - Process OTA Update
3 - Replace stock recovery with custom recovery
However, when I replaced the custom recovery with the stock recovery, I downloaded the OTA update and updated it. But after the update completed, the device never booted up. It shows the HTC logo then it goes black! (The screen is still on, but black!) Have I bricked the phone? How Can I fix it please!
PS. Here is the video I watched www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPPT5J8xG6w

That video is nonsense. There is a blatant mistake at 6.44 and the knob doesn't see it. You need to go back to stock first, then take the OTA.

Okay, before I see your respond I did a stupid thing! I flashed TWRP and I wanted to flash stock ROM and I followed these instructions from this website
http://www.carbontesla.com/2015/01/htc-one-m8-4-16-401-10-stock-lollipop-ruu-0p6bimg/
But when I want to flash the rom its says "target reported max download size of 1826414592 bytes error: cannot load 'L50RUU.zip'"
Anyway, now my device is " Relocked" and when I type fastboot getvar I get this>>>>

Luckily you have a WWE device. Download this RUU and run it from Windows. Make sure you have HTC drivers installed. The easy way to do that is to install HTC Sync and then uninstall it. The HTC drivers will be left behind. That will take you to stock 4.16.401.10. You will then receive the update to 13.

No, the bootloader needs to be relocked/locked for the RUU.exe to work. It should work from fastboot mode. If it doesn't, I'll be on again tomorrow.

Firstyl: Sorry, i wasn't here or a Long time so im not up to date and like a dummy again
My Problem:
I have a HTC One M8 Dual Sim (unbranded). I Rooted it and flashed twrp on it. 2 days ago i was so dumb and tried a ota update. to dumb, that it won't work with twrp on it. So i flashed a stock recovery and tried to update. afterwards there was just the Htc logo for a Long time. so i flashed twrp back on it and restored my last backup. flashed stock recovery again and tried again. but now in the update Screen theres just a red ! (look at the Picture downside). i cant update it anymore.
My Question:
I googled and searched for the last 2 days, but i wasn't able to find a good solution. I want to go back to stock as far as possible. But i cant find all ressources i Need. i already took this recovery over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/htc-one-m8-dual-sim-european-version-t2816991
i need a Htc one m8 DUAL SIM stock recovery and OS. Can i go to androd 6.0 directly? with a ota for it?

Hi Guys
I made it. I just visited http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860 and downloaded nandroid Backup 6.16.401.101_ckpv5.zip and the Bootloader for it.
After a Backup from the running System i restored the nand from ckpv5 (Thank you at this part for your collection!!!!)
It runs. Didn't know that this will work. thought i have to do the ota that anything gets an update. but till now anything runs...
The MM ROM runs is correct but your bootloader is most probably is on the lower version.
Put fastboot getvar all result again ... maybe I can help to update your firmware too if needed
Followed the (excellent) guide step by step but am stuck at step 12
When I reboot it says "your phone is encrypted"
Obviously I have no idea of the code. I have factory reset again but same issue. I am now at minus 3 decryption attempts (in other words I have tried 33 times)
Any idea how to disable encryption ?

OK, solved my own problem thanks to Gary Maskell : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQM6KIDr4-k
I needed to do a full format through TWRP at some point in the process. Since I was wiping everything anyway, I wasn't concerned about data loss. Should you need to do the same, please ensure that you have saved everything you need first
Big thanks to @ckpv5 and @avilon as well as to Gary
