Hi everyone.
I had a 4 year old Incredible, rooted, running Touch of Blue 3, and after much abuse and the screen finally cracking, I decided to switch. I was given another Incredible that was largely unused for years. I turned it on and activated it tonight, and the USB debugging option was usable (icon showed when enabled). I'm not sure what it was running..but the OTA updates ran and finished apparently and now it seems that USB debugging (and disk mounting) aren't working. I have searched and searched across the tubes and I've tried every solution I could find. Tried different cables, tried different ports, tried different computers and nothing. Absolutely nothing. (Running Win7x64 btw) I've installed the 3.0.0.007 drivers, I've installed the absolute latest drivers, I've booted into the recovery mode and did factory resets, I installed an older version of HTC Sync and newer versions, I've got the AdbDriverInstaller..everything I've found and still the USB debugging option, while enabled, does not seem to activate.
When, using the bootloader menu, I try the recovery option..after a moment I get the red exclamation mark and still nothing.
I have absolutely no idea what to do. My previous rooting experience with this same model phone was a snap by following the nice instructions I found...but this time it's turned into a nightmare. I'll admit I'm a "follow the cookbook" kind of phone user (and not nearly as knowledgeable or as into it as a lot of people are), but I'm just about at it wits end. So I turn to you of this fabled forum for guidance.
I'm sure I'm leaving something out..but here's the bootloader info:
INCREDIBLEC XD SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-1.07.0000
MICROP-0417
TOUCH PANEL-AMELC03_16ac
RADIO-2.15.10.12.20
Software number is 4.08.605.19 710RD
Please help show how ignorant I am about the whole phone hacking scene by telling me the one setting or trick I need to to do get this back working, so I can get back to truly being able to use my device. Thanks in advice!

I don't really have an idea what is going on, but do fastboot commands work over USB? Try following the guide for unlocking the bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1600904
You already have the latest HBOOT, so it 'should' just work. If adb isn't working, you'll need to power the phone off, then hold 'volume down' down while powering it on to get into the bootloader. (you may need to use the volume rocker and power button to select bootloader or fastboot, don't remember off the top of my head and it's been a while.) From there, you should be able to continue with the fastboot commands, unlock the bootloader, flash your favorite custom recovery, and I believe you know where to go from there.

I've got into fastboot..but there's still nothing I can do. No USB connection is recognized in any form, but it was being seen before the OTA updates started happening. Is it possible that the updates somehow borked debug mode/disk mounting?

HI. Okay, so a couple weeks ago, I received a notification from HTC that said there was a new update available. Since I had S-Off and an unlocked bootloader (don't ask why, I just ****ing do.) I could not update, as it would give me errors, and cancel the update. So, earlier today I was fed-up with how slow my phone was being, and I wanted to fix it by updating. So I scoured XDA and found a thread about how to update by updating the HBoot or whatever. I followed those instructions and everything was fine, until I got to the initial part of installing the new **** through RUU. It was running fine, and then all of a sudden, the phone disconnected and ****ed the installation up. My battery was fully charged, and still has a charge as I am writing this. I digress. Whenever I would try to power my phone on, I would feel THREE (3) vibrations, and nothing would happen after. I tried booting into the stock recovery (fastboot, recovery, etc) and would still get THREE (3) vibrations. Bricked. So, I looked through a few threads on XDA, and found a few ways to fix it. Something about a Blind HBoot, or a Qualcomm Diagnostic Mode being stuck or something. Figured it was my best shot to try these. I tried them all. I put the PG76IMG.zip into my SD card, and booted up when holding Volume down, and only got THREE (3) vibrations. The tutorial said I was supposed to get FIVE (5) vibrations. So, I thought maybe it was something strange, and kept going through the tutorial. After five minutes, I'm supposed to press VOL UP, and should feel THREE (3) vibrations. Nothing happened. I waited and waited and tried again, and still, nothing. My phone is still lying here as a paperweight, and I want to get this working, so I can sell it because this phone is too much of a ****ing hassle for me. NOTHING HAS WORKED. ROMS, KERNELS, NOTHING. HAS. WORKED. I'M TIRED OF IT. I'm not a noob, I've been working with Android phones for a long time, and have never quite used an HTC device before. I had a Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate (CDMA) and it lost it's flash after I had moved to a different state. (The state I'm in does not have any towers for that carrier here.) SO. Can ANYONE give me a HIGHLY DETAILED tutorial, STEP BY STEP, to fix my phone?

ok, im not saying i can get it going again but i`ll do my best to help. lets start from the beginning, what actually works atm? you say when you try boot up the phone in any way it just vibrates 3 times.
does it do anything else, does the screen light up?
does it even stay on?
when you connect it to the charger does the led still light up?
have you tried to connect it to the pc? have you tried to connect it too the pc with volume down first?
all seem very basic stuff obviously but if the pc can register it in hboot we might be able to get a ruu running on it.
Found this on a different thread...
Nevermind. Just realized you were still getting three vibrates. Sorry man. I'll keep an eye out if I see anything else that might help.
what is your hboot version? i was see 1.09.099 like in forum maybe you can start with update hboot.
you can use adb for all of this works. download a ruu and run it. after some steps you can find rom.zip in windows/temp extract it to a folder like c:\android\rom and use adb for install all *.img files. maybe it can fix that problem

seriously , adb can install img files ?!
Alright, well, I called htc and told them about my problem, and I might have to just send it in. BUT. I had my phone rooted, and had CM Recovery on it. So, since nothing is booting up at all, only the three vibrates when trying to enter either boot mode, will they be able to see that I had it rooted or anything? They said they'll charge 35$ just to ship it back in the same condition if it is. Can't really afford anything like that right now.
tl;dr I had my phone rooted, but nothing on my phone comes up, will they see my root or anything?
if you are rooted you are probably s-off or at least have unlocked bootloader. and both they will find out very easily.
Sorry for my bad it was fastboot.exe you can install .img files with fastboot.exe i was installed stock recovery with that

Hello,
As the subject line states, I followed the instructions for adding the HBOOT drivers to my computer and my computer now reads Android Phone --> Android Bootloader Interface. When I went to reboot the phone, it began to boot loop with the HTC Incredible splash screen, then screen turn black, then screen turns white vibrate once and display the same HTC Incredible splash screen. It does this over and and over. Nothing was installed on the phone, it is not rooted. None of the other features work such as Recovery, Clear Storage, or Factory Reset.
Here are the specs as stated in HBOOT mode:
*** UNLOCKED ***
Incredible XD SHIP S-ON
HBOOT- 1.02.0000
MICROP- 0417
TOUCH PANEL- ATMELC03_16ac
RADIO- 2.15.10.07.07
DEC 21, 2011
It was working prior to the installation of the USB driver install and it was running 2.3.4.
If you all can give me a heads up as to where to look, I would be most grateful. I've researched but no one seems to have this problem. Nothing was installed on the phone itself, just the drivers to the computer and now it boot loops. I think it may be a defective product, but I want to ensure that there is absolutely nothing I can do to fix it before I contact the seller and ask for a replacement or a refund. Thank you all very much for your time.

Have you tried fastboot flashing cwm recovery.img (http://dinc.does-it.net/Guide_Root_New_Hboot/recovery.img) again to see if you can gain access to it. If that dosent work i would try the latest ruu.exe with a pc (http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Image...0_Incredible_C_hboot_1.02.0000_4.08.605.2.exe).
Thank you for replying, cmlusco, and thank you all for viewing.
So, I doubt this is resolved but this morning I was having the problems I described. Before I left, I turned the phone off and let it charge all day. When I came home, the charging light went from orange to green. I unplugged it and turned it on. All of a sudden, it turns on as normal. All of the screens are empty, but it looks like all of the features work. This phone is haunted and it makes me doubt if I should even proceed to root it. I want to root it via Unrevoked but with how it flipped out over installing regular drivers and now currently showing in Windows Device Manager as Android Composite ADB Interface rather than Android Bootloader Interface, I think I'll hold off. Anyway, thank you all for viewing and thanks again, cmlusco, for taking time out and replying to post.

Pretty sure it says Android Composite ADB interface because the phone is plugged in and booted up normally. Try shutting down and going into HBOOT and then plug in the cord and see what Device Manager says. If so, you could proceed with trying to root.
I got the same boot loop, and after charging fully, it quit doing it. I got the recovery pushed to the phone but the root process failed with UnrEVOked stating “Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?” So the next thing I'm going to try is uninstalling all market apps that I downloaded as they say that can cause a conflict. Won't be able to try that until Thursday though.
If by chance you were able to root the phone with UnrEVOked successfully, let me know how you did it so I can use the same procedure.

I personally recommend the zergrush method which is in the second post on this thread but people have had success with both ways
ANOTHER "Stuck on White HTC Screen" however, I am not: Rooted. UNLocked. S-OFF or custom ROM'ed.
I am stock ROM, UNrooted, locked, S-on.
All the other threads seem to be something different than mine and either UNlocked, S-Off or ROM Customized so, here I go.
After a factory reset, and a few days I was all set to install frivolous stuff like games. So, off to the play-store to shop. I started one donwload/install and then another install and another and another another another..... seems that you can download/install too many things at one time because, that is when my screen went blank,
I hit the power button to wake it up and it wouldn't.
I held the power button down to boot it back up.... and it didn't.
Removed the battery and it started (whew). Then the starting stopped.
It stuck on the White HTC Screen and has been there since.
I tried the (Vol Down - Power ON) factory reset and it doesn't do anything except lock it up with no screen change and no button movement/control either.
Previously to all of this I had to order a new charging/data port because the existing one only charged. The new port came in and was installed but, I can't get any ROM to load (via ADB). I think this is because I am either locked or s-on or not rooted.
If you haven't figured this out, let me put this simply:
I dunno what I am doing with Droid OS's or phones and need someone to tell me what to do. Step 1, 2, 3, etc I have no idea which steps come in which order OR.... how do to the steps.
I'd say I am a noob but, that is a tad too advanced for me at this point

Ok long answer short style. To install a ROM you need root access.
To do any pg321.IMG flashing you need s off.
Can't do both if you don't have either.
So you have adb on your computer? Plug in the phone and type: adb devices . It should give a long number. Type :adb reboot . should reboot the phone. If after typing adb devices n it hangs on waiting for device try another computer port or cable.
I'm unsure if you can factory reset using adb but check around. Might have to do one if possible.

This link will take you to a very in depth guide on getting your phone rooted with S-OFF. It's got the commands and links to everything you will need. Fairly easy to follow.
I Highly recommend reading that.
However, if your having problems with ADB, you might want to look into the official HTC developer boot unlocker so you can load a custom recovery, and then a ROM, and get back to working phone status.
I have had a lot of trouble with HTC's Dev-unlock, because it does not completely unlock, so you have to flash the boot.img separately, but it is an option, and it's very easy to follow if your new (why I used it)

Awesome. Links to short-cuts. Thank you very much !
However, all these things require access to some level of the phone that I don't have yet since I am stuck at the white HTC Screen.
Do you have anything that can get me past that? Seriously. I want to learn how to ROOT, UNLock, S-Off and install custom ROMs but, I have to get my phone back first !
<Edit>The HTC Unlocker didn't work before because, again, I am stuck on the white HTC Screen. </Edit>
Hello I need a but of help my Nexus 7 is showing my nothing but the google logo and at the store earlier it showed the android with his chest up and a red triangle. it doesnt even show the moving colors after i turn it on it just sits and says google like a paper weight. i can turn it off and on but nothing more. the geek squad at best buy told me to ask for help here at Xda. last thing i was doing with it was opening deer hunter 2013 and next i go to see if it opened and it stuck on the google logo. can anyone help me fix my tablet? its not under store warranty only manufactures.
Well, sucks to be you.....just kidding...but that does suck. Now, on to more serious matters...
Do you have access to your bootloader? (hold the power button + the vol up button at the same time) If you do, you might want to look into rooting the tablet. Based on the content of your post, I am assuming that you haven't. There is plenty information about rooting the Nexus 7.2 tablet (and just about every other Android device). Simply Google "root Nexus 7 2013" and you will quickly find your answer.
Also, how much do you know about rooting and the sort? I want to know before I waste my time giving details about info that you are aware of.

i dont know anything about rooting. i dont have access to the boot loader. i did a few days ago now it wont even show up, the guy and best buy tried to bring it up and its like it was showing a dead android or something chest open with a red triangle above it. he said someting about maybe have to flash a new or or something like that on to it, it wont show me anything just stays off or shows the google logo when its on
Sigh...that is the bootloader. Maybe...he could have booted into the stock recovery, which shows this or something similar for most devices. Please remember, they are reps...they may know about the software, but usually they speak from their experience or their perspective. I'm glad that he sent you here for a second opinion.
Hold the volume down button and power button to get into the bootloader. You should see some options at the top of the screen saying Start, Restart bootloader, Recovery Mode, Power Off. Not sure if those are the exact options, but it's pretty close.
Also, you need to look into rooting your device. You need to download some files first. You'll need adb, fastboot, and drivers for your Nexus.
And one last thing....what Computer OS do you use? The rooting process is slightly different for each one (Windows 7, 8/8.1, Mac OS, & Linux). If you are into computers, and you have Linux installed on a device, good for you. That is my preference when rooting, as Android is built from Linux, and naturally supported without the need for drivers.
I had similar problems when I first bought it. Going into recovery and resetting the tablet cured it. You will lost all your data BTW.
He's facing the loss of his entire tablet, so I'm sure that data loss isn't the biggest thing to worry about.
But yes, just about every solution involves a clean wipe of data.

I'm stuck on the google logo too. I had my tablet plugged in over night and when I opened the cover this morning it woke up, but as soon I tried to access anything it rebooted and stuck.
I'm unlocked and have tried various thing. NRT doesn't recognize it as an ADB device so I don't think that will work. Fastboot works, but I keep getting "FAILED (remote: flash write failure)" when I try to use the factory flash all, or the instructions found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2381582
I can use fastboot to query the device and get it to return "flo" but it seems like the flash storage has failed.
if it's truly horked, can I use "fastboot oem lock" to relock it and attempt a warranty replacement?

You can try Method 2 from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701
I know it's for the N5, but I used this one for both my Galaxy Nexus, N5 and N7. Since they are all Nexuses (Nexi?), the same general procedures apply. I always prefer to do it all manually, step-by-step, which is why I went with Method 2 in the OP of that thread. Obviously, since this is the N7, just skip the radio flashing command. Everything else is the pretty much exactly the same. If this doesn't work in fastboot, then it's probably a hardware failure.
Hi all,
I've tried to do a fair bit of digging, but I've come to realize I'm in a fairly unique position.
So to start it all, I wanted to play with some new roms. I installed a few but had weird issues, which I now understand it was due to having the wrong kernel. So I went to flash a newer kernel but ran into issues..
Now my phone ONLY get into download and bootloader page, can't get into recovery nor does it go into a rom which means I can't turn on USB debugging. Ontop of that, my bootloader is locked, when I go through the standard process via the HTC website, get my unlock token and fastboot it. My device gets stuck at the "Use volume buttons and press power to select" part of the process. Sometimes I can highlight yes, but when I press the power button to select, it freezes and reboots shortly after and thus the great loop continues. I can't flash anything else because it says bootloader is locked etc.

I've tried looking for RUU's but it feels next to impossible to find the right one, or links that are still active.
If anyone has any idea's that would be amazing! I'm literally lost and have spent hours trying to sort it out.

First off you should be posting in the Q&A section which stands for Question and Answer.....
Second you can try this including the suggested RUU
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/htc-10-wont-possibly-bricked-t3731363
Have a read and try the described method. Trust me it can't hurt your phone except that it would update to the latest Android version because your version is from the stone age!
