Hey everyone,
I've been trying to unroot my desire Z , but it wont detect my 1.34 PC10IMG.zip files anymore in the hboot... i even renamed them to PC10IMG, and still nothing , i've been trying allot of things for 2 days now. is my phone bricked or something , or is it because my phone became G2? since i accidently put a g2 rom before which i had to reroot to gain my MIUI rom back. my camera is broken so i need to unroot it for the warranty
Can someone help me ?

When you go into HBoot, what option are you choosing?
You currently have your issue spread across 4 threads, asking various questions about the same issue. So its very hard to follow where you are at and how to help you. You really should have just started one thread, and stuck to it.

ah sorry for that i thought i would find my answer quicker, I will stick to this thread, the options i choose is , first of all i type in CMD adb reboot bootloader , then i get at Fastboot USB , then i use my power button, and then i get at HBOOT where it should load my zip file , like always. but which doesn't happen now...
Do you think my phone is still fix-able?

Cross posting will probably make your answer slower (in addition to being against forum rules, and just generally cluttering the forum). At least personally, I'm getting confused where you are at, and what steps you have done to get to this point, due to the information being scattered across several posts.
What happens when you try to access HBoot from the phone itself? By having power off, then holding volume down, and pressing power?
sorry for the cross posting,
I've did volume down and pressed power , and i came in bootloader
Can you go into recovery (from Hboot) and flash the ZIP from there?
do you mean : Recovery > install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard > PC10IMG ? this is not possible if you mean that
because i get:
E:can't open \sdcard\PC10IMG.zip (bad) installation aborted
Yes, exactly.
is this a good sign? what should i exactly do next ?
You must have edited your post. When I responded "Yes. Exactly" I didn't see where you said the install failed.
No, thats not a good sign.
On the Hboot screen, does it say S-Off or S-on?
it says VISION PVT SHIP S-OFF
oops double post i didn't notice we were on 2nd page
Weird, and you're still rooted?
Have you tried to download the ZIP again, just to make sure it wasn't corrupted on download?
yes i did , i redownloaded it , before i had accidently downloaded a G2 stock rom , because i was following a unrooting guide , but it wasn't a good one so i had G2 stock rom without root , then i just simply rerooted it and went back to my MIUI rom, and since that time i have problems :/ , i also had back-ups of the 1.34 sense system but when i recover them i just get stuck at the HTC splash screen , i really dont know what to do now
did the G2 rom ruin my phone or? is there any possibility to retreive stock rom
lol :/ i suppose i'm quite done now , if it doesn't detect the packages i'm far from home , and wont be able to recover anything
Sorry I can't help you more, I'm out of ideas. There are lots of people here with more knowledge than I. So hopefully they can help.
Well anyways thanks for your time , hopefully someday someone knows the answer

just to make sure, you're using your volume keys to scroll to the BOOTLOADER option, then pressing the power button, correct? sounds to me like you're saying that you're entering hboot in fastboot, then pressing power button immediately? this would still not land you in bootloader.
pc10img files won't be seen if you're in the fastboot menu. when you select bootloader, it should do a quick scan of the sdcard looking for files with certain names (including pc10img.zip)
sorry if it's been said elsewhere, I didn't see:
what version of CWM recovery are you using?
which PC10IMG are you attempting to flash?

Thanks for your respond,
The thing i exactly do is enter the bootloader then it would give me 4 options Bootloader , Reboot , Reboot Bootloader or Power Down.
Once i scroll to Bootloader which is not necessary since it already selects bootloader at the begining , then i press my power button , and then it should go to Hboot mode , once he enters that it takes 2 secs and he scans the SDCARD , but he will detect nothing. I've tried several PC10IMG.zip but somehow he wont find it, the one i'm using is the 1.34 PC10IMG.zip. i've tried a couple and redownloaded it , but it was no succes.
Btw i also got a recovery of 1.34 sense stock rom , the 1st day i rooted i made a backup of my stock rom , but it's not recover-able anymore , once i recover it by CWM , i get stuck at splash screen after installation first boot.
The CWM i'm using atm is the 3.0.2.4.
bump. any professionals who can help me?
My Incredible is in a bootloop. I have gone back to stock. The phone will work for a few minutes then just reboot non-stop. I did a factory reset and that did not help.
I can't keep the phone on long enough to do anything. The irony in all of this is that it started to do this 2 weeks after I became eligable for an upgrade...
Smells fishy...now I either wait for Incredible 4G or get the Rezound.
[email protected] Verizon...
Do you have a recovery on the phone still or did you get rid of it when returning to stock? I'm not sure I've heard of this before but if you post the status of your hboot that might be able to help someone help you.
and personally between the two I would go with the Incredible 4G but that's just me being loyal to HTC i guess.
Recovery is gone/does not work. I'll post the HBOOT version later, don't have the phone atm.

I know it sounds very round-about but you may need to flash CWM back on to the phone so you can flash unrevoked's s-on tool, I don't know for sure that this is what is causing the problem but you want s-on when you are in stock, especially if you plan on giving the phone to Verizon- if it has been messed with they won't want to handle it because they will say it is not their problem. (I have heard that Verizon has admitted to not checking very carefully, but it can't hurt to be careful yourself)
How can I flash CWM if I can't keep the phone on for more than a minute?
sounds like your kinda having the same problem i am having. the difference is my is s-on. i can get to hboot but when i try to go to recovery from there it comes up with a bunch of errors. and mine just bootloops at the droid eye.
that is a very valid point. It still can't hurt to try, I remember when I rooted my phone, it didn't take all that long to flash CWM.
You also might want to consider booting into safe mode to see if that keeps in on longer, I am copying and pasting these instructions from technipages.com because xda won't let me post links until they trust me more or something:
Sometimes services and apps you install on your HTC Droid Incredible can interfere with its functionality. If you’ve reached a point where the phone freezes at startup or malfunctions in a way that you can’t remove the problem, Safe Mode is the answer. Booting in Safe Mode will load only software and drivers from factory defaults. This should allow you access to remove whatever ails your smartphone.
1. Turn the device off. If the power button doesn’t do the trick, remove and replace the battery.
2. Power the device on.
3. When the logo appears, press and hold the Menu button.
4. Continue holding the Menu button until you see the home screen.
The words Safe Mode should appear in the lower left corner if you performed the steps correctly.

Does the phone shut off when your in hboot too? You need to do as sugested and flash cwm thru hboot, and then see if you can access recovery long enough to wipe everything in mounts and storrage except sd and emmc, then flash superuser, and a rom.

Whats your hboot and android version? Have you tried an ruu?
EDIT: Nevermind i forgot i was allready talking to you in the other thread.
Long story short my friend gave me a T mobile HTC G2 because it didn't turn on. I opened the phone to find the part where the battery connects to the phone came off the mother board so i solder it back on put the phone back together and turned it on. It booted up normal and came to the lock screen nothing worked the touch wasn't responding so i push power button to turn screen off and then again to turn it back on and the screen worked. I tried guessing his pattern five time and it didnt work it asked me to sign in to my Google account when the screen came up the phone rebooted and it kept doing it every time i turned it on. So i looked on xda how to restore it tried it and im not sure if it restored or not but it strated boot looping. I tried the flashing the pc10img.zip from the root of the sd card it usually says something like version to new or to old or something it didn't work. My phone is not rooted and i don't think usb debugging is on. Any info you guys want just ask. What can i do? How can i fix it? Please help
I'm going to take a guess, that if the battery connection to the motherboard 'broke off', then it's possible you have other physical issues such as the ribbon cable connecting the screen/digitizer to the rest of the phone.
If it were me I would have sent the phone into HTC for hardware warranty (which you can't do now since you soldered it.).
Can you provide some specific information about the phone, can you get into the boot loader, and if so what exact information do you have there? (USB debugging would be easily turned on under system settings, if you can get into it via the screen).

Thanks for replying i don't think anything else is wrong with the phone all the cables were fine. To begin with warranty was already finished. "Yes", i can get into the boot loader/H boot. I can turn on usb debugging because the phone doesn't boot all the way in to android. When you say information what exactly are you looking for?

when you first had the phone it won't boot right? but when you tried fixing the battery connection thingy (sorry I don't know whats it called )
it booted and ran again?
have you tried doing a factory reset?
Power button+volume rocker down (volume down button) to boot into bootloader mode then do a factory reset maybe that would work ?

OR
or sending the phone to HTC would help bud but you have to pay them for that if they get to fix it you got yourself a new toy!

Would probably have to stick to the original Stock RUU update since you're S-ON (would need S-OFF for any kind of custom recovery, kernel, unsigned packages, etc), so would have to use a signed full package from T-Mobile, I don't know much bout that because I usually have my phones rooted and away from stock as fast as I can.
What stock rom did you find before? links?

Thats is the above link i used and i used all the ones that start with "PC10" I rename them to PC10IMG.zip so the phone can recognize it and it did. The only problem is that after it tries to install is say something along the lines of version is older or newer since i tried multiple packages. One package was going through the process and after that it didn't do anything, it didnt say failed or reboot or anything like that. Ive been trying to fix this for like a week and a half now. Ive even flashed custom PC10IMG.zip to see if it could help but nothing the furthest ive gotten is the phone boots for like 2 seconds the screen is blurry and the shuts off and there is an orange light in top right that wasn't lighting up before. Here are the links for the custom packages

You would have to much it to your exact carrier/phone, Just flashing whatever you get your hands on can be very very risky.
For example for me being on T-Mobile with a T-Mobile branded G2, I would grab PC10IMG_Vision_TMOUS_1.19.531.1_Radio_12.21.60.09b_26.02.01.15_M2_release_149459_signed.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971109
(noting the *.15 is the original radio my device was shipped with, though I've upgraded to the newer *.19)
I of course have no intention to returning to complete stock, but it's usually the only course of action for most people stuck with S-ON (and then would look into exploiting/unlocking/rooting again from there).

Same problem, but desire z S-ON
Hey guys.
I have the same problem with the boot loop /semi brick. Expect I never had any problem before, with the phone. I have tried taking out the sd card, starting it agian. I have tried without simcard. I have tried to flash the ROM with RUU_Vision_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.42.405.2_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M_release_199043_signed
via Hboot Fastboot USB PLUG mode (which was the only mode the aplication was progressing in until it want to restart the phone in bootloader), but the phone frezzes and the aplication on the computer just keep working, without progress.
The factory reset just frezzes the phone.
The only thing reali seem to not frezze the phone is the revocery option. Here the phone react with restart showing a image of a phone with two green arrows bent around, over the phone. then it turns off the display and vibrate 4-5 times, og stays turn off not reacting to anything other then taking out the battery and you can start the phone once again.

Have no idea but the version of android. I know that usb debugging is NOT on Any hjelp is a big help. I'm a noob, And I have been searching for 3 days for a solution, so I just hope you can help my, otherwise it is going for a repair at the place I bought it.
Thanks
I have been looking for the past couple days and have not found an obvious answer for my issue. So hopefully this isn't an answered repeat but if so pleas link ^-^.
I received my HTC One M8 dev edition the other day and was hoping to get it unlocked with probably cynogenmod installed while it was fresh but I am having issues with the bootloader unlock. So far I am able to get my unlock code from HTC and when I flash it the command window shows success but I never receive the prompt on the phone to commit to the unlock. I found out the hard way that it didn't auto accept since I soft bricked installing twrp and no longer have access to the recovery even after reflashing a stock one (but at least I have phone access again).
Has anyone had and found a solution to this problem? I was really looking forward to having a nice custom rom but seem to be stuck with the factory dev edition which is still loads better than the carrier edition. I will consider a non HTC bootloader unlock if I have to but the dev unlock seems nice and easy.
Hopefully some one can just tell me I did something retarded and all will be good ^-^.
Also I have tried Squabbi's toolkit but it ends up the same way, but less command prompts.
Thanks

You should be able to enter recovery by going to fastboot and using the volume keys to navigate to the recovery option, and picking it by pressing the power button.
To enter fastboot with your phone on, hold down the power button and vol. up until your phone turns off (20 seconds or so). AS SOON AS IT TURNS OFF, switch to power button and vol. down. Then go to the recovery option, and you are in.
And while you are in fastboot, you might as well try running the unlock key again. If it doesn't work, go back to HTCDev for another. I'm not sure how that works, but I think you could get another code if you can't get this one to work.

Currently when I try to enter recovery it enters a boot loop and freezes on the HTC screen. From what I read this is from trying to install a custom recovery with a locked bootloader. That part I can live with for now since it does not seem to be an issue, just the outcome of my mistake. My biggest issues seems to be the bootloader unlock not working. unless the two are related which could be as I am fairly new to this process.

So, have you tried the code again? And/or have you gone back to the HTCDev site for a new unlock code?
I have tried two unlock tokens so far and tried both of them several times. It's almost like I'm submitting something wrong and don't know it. When I submit the token I am including both the start and end brackets which is what it appears to be asking for and not just the string between them.

Are you copying and pasting the very first part of the code?
The part that looks like:
"(bootloader) < please cut following message >
(bootloader)" ?
IMMEDIATELY after that is what you copy and paste.
The copy should start when it says "<<<< identifier token start >>>>"
I am only copying the <<<< identifier token start >>>> and <<<< identifier token end >>>> along with the string between and leaving out the bootloader tag that is on each line.
I guess one question I should be asking is are there any settings on the phone that I need to set? I have developer options activated, usb debugging on, and the fastboot option unchecked in the power settings. Other than that the phone is stock settings. I remember my s4 needed to be in a specific usb connection mode but since they are completely different phones im not sure if that will apply here.

You seem to be doing everything right. I'm stumped. Hopefully someone else comes along with a solution. @redpoint73?
That's what I was afraid of haha. I don't know why but while I am no expert in this area I do not feel I'm ignorant either yet I always seem to have problems even when I follow the steps correctly >.<
I do appreciate the troubleshooting greatly thank you. I will keep trying things and see what I can find and if I figure it out you bet I will add it here because I can't be the only one getting stuck haha.
Can you please post the results of
fastboot getvar all

Ummm, yeah . . . in fact I think I do:
Maybe I'm missing something here. But the Dev Edition comes already bootloader unlocked, and therefore should be no reason to do so.
I think the prompt to unlock never comes up on the phone, since its already unlocked.

Yes, this will tell us a lot.
Or boot into bootloader and just see if it says LOCKED, RELOCKED or UNLOCKED.
I bet it says UNLOCKED.
Hi everyone,
I am stuck with a rather expensive HTC paperweight and I hope to get some guidelines from a kind soul here.
I had this phone (functioning perfectly) for a while and recently I tried selling it to someone. Just one day later, the guy comes back to me asking for his money back and claiming that he "tried to do some updates and it failed".
Now the phone is stuck in a white background and colour text menu state. This is what I get on the screen :
*** Software status: Modified ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
*** S-ON ***
<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item
REBOOT
REBOOT TO BOOTLOADER
BOOT TO DOWNLOAD MODE
BOOT TO RECOVERY MODE
POWER DOWN
Now, if I choose REBOOT TO BOOTLOADER, it does a restart and gets back to the same menu
If I choose BOOT TO DOWNLOAD, it goes to a red-blue-yellow text on black background menu with this text:
hTC download mode
*** UNLOCKED ***
htc_himauhl PVT S-ON
LK-1.0.0.0000
RADIO-01.01_U11440061_52a.01.50225G_2
OpenDSP-v20.2.6-00452-M8994_0216
OS-1 .32.401.3
Feb 27 2015, 15:11:23(493992)
system info
show barcode
reboot to bootloader
reboot to download mode
reboot
power down

If I choose BOOT TO RECOVERY MODE I get to something called Team Win Recovery Project v2.8.7.0 and 8 main tiles , each leading to a sub-menu.
Given all the info so far, could you, please, point me towards a procedure/tutorial to get the phone back running. I am not/never was interested in tuning/upgrading the phone in any way other than stock. All I want is a normal, usable HTC M9.
Thanks in advance and I hope for a positive answer!
I guess it wasn't you who changed the phone. So I assume the buyer of the phone did at least the following:
1. unlock bootloader per HTCDev
2. flash custom TWRP recovery
I'd guess he tried to flash a custom ROM as well, but maybe didn't know what he was about to do and how to revert back to stock.
So he took the easiest way to bring it back to you without telling you what he did.
The best way would be to flash an RUU of version 1.32.401.3. You could try find it within the Stock Backups and RUU thread. If you need any help flashing it, quote me here.

Hi 5m4r7ph0n36uru,
Thank you for the reply, it's been very helpful. First things first, I think I might have solved it. I downloaded the first RUU from docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15K6xhb6wtosp9j8yu4xHBZ6n9v5OaFSW6ZVWxC4u_qc/pubhtml#
because I couldn't find 1.32.401.3 anywhere. I put the zip on a 4GB sdcard and rebooted to download mode. A few restarts later and the phone was back in Android setup wizard. I also tried a SIM card and it works.
the problem now is that I cannot get rid of the annoying DEMO app that keeps popping up.
Is there a way to delete it permanently?
Could it be that the RUU I installed was a demo one?
Any advices on this?
Otherwise, I am perfectly happy so far. One more thing: I seem to have deleted or unninstalled that TWRP thing since I cannot access it by rebooting the phone to recovery. Not complaining, just noticed it.
Thanks again, good people!

Nevermind, I just disabled the notifications for that app and it doesn't bother me now! Have a great day!
