So i cracked my screen a few weeks ago and after recieving my new verizon lg g3 lcd/digitizer I installed the new lcd/digitizer and the whole top section of my screen is not responding to touch. Is this caused by a bad digitizer? I tried reseating the ribbons numerous times but have not had any luck please help

Try factory reset. Maybe just a driver issue.
please hit thanks if i helped in any way. send from my g3 d852 beast

i dont know
I finally got the screen on and everything working but the whole top portion of my screen is not responding to touch? ive tried factory reset as well as reseating the ribbon connections multiple times....

I fix screens alot. Sounds like a possible bad digitizer. I've fixed over 500 iPhone screens and around every 1/10 screens I order will be DOAs or bad right out of the box.

ya
Im thinking thats what is going on here....i heat gunned the screen to see if that would have any effect and actually it improved...now instead of having half of the screen non responsive tot ouch im at a 1/3 or even less....probably going to ship back to LG and have replaced uinder warranty

[Q] screen is broke (all scrambled)

When I power on the phone the boot screen is fine and the screen you get when holding power and vol down but then any other screen, including clockwork, is all scrambled with different colors and has streaks and is all glitchy to the point where I can't do anything because I can't see what I'm doing.
It started out as a minor thing that would happen mainly when I opened the keyboard(the screen would glitch a little and be off centered) but it would fix by turning the screen of and back on. Now its unusable.
I booted the phone holding power and down vol and cleared storage but that didn't fix anything.
Is the phone bricked?
Same thing happened to my sons slide and it ended up being his flex cable, had to replace it.

It connects the LCD screen to the motherboard in the phone. I picked one up for 35.00 and followed a video of how to replace it and it has been fine since.

Hmmm i wonder if it's worth it to fix. I upgraded to a Sensation and was going to sell the mytouch on ebay or something but probably can't get very much for it.

[Q] No response from touch screen problem

I've had the phone since June last year and it's been working fine. However after flashing different firmware and changing roms the touch screen of the phone seemed to die by being a lot less responsive until it became completely unresponsive. The phone starts up fine and the screen displays everything correctly but the touch screen just doesn't work. Occasionally I can unlock by sliding it open but after that I can't get on anything. Would this be down to an issue with the digitizer?
Thanks for any replies in advance.
Could be the digitizer, or it could also be the ribbon cable inside the slider.

Thanks for the reply, I've just ordered a new digitizer with ribbon so I'll see how it goes and report back. Cheers again.

Hey I know this is years ago but can you remember if this worked for you? I'm having this issue.

need help - touchscreen fix

noticed that my touchscreen is becoming unresponsive lately so i thought that changing the multitouch might solve it. the thing is, after selecting 4 touch, touchscreen becomes totally unresponsive. i tried wipe and even flashing stock os but touchscreen is still the same.
did i screw up my touch screen? how will i know? any known repairs or fix.
thanks
Sounds like your digitalizer (the glass above the screen) is busted and needs replacement. If your phone is under warranty, claim it, if not - get a new digitalizer and if you can't change it yourself, take it to a repair shop.
Changed the digitizer but still no response

switch ROM
You said that you flashed back to stock, but how about flashing to another ROM, I mean one that has a completly diferent multitouch enabler... that might work.

i was able to flash stock and it means i have no root nor recovery. and adb debugging is not enabled. i am out of ideas how i will be able to solve this.
After flashing stock ROM do you face the same issue with a new Digitizer?
yes. doesnt respond to anything except volume and power. even the 4 touch buttons doesn't work. i was thinking that i have received a bad digitizer or it is a motherboard issue. with the latter i have no idea how to check

I had recently taken my Defy to a service center. I just wanted to change the earpiece and the side casing. While replacing the side casing (while removing the Digitizer) they damaged the digitizer. The main touch portion was working but the 4 soft keys were not. They replaced the digitizer and everything was fine again (had to pay for it )
If you can carefully handle the phone, you can open up the casing and try reconnecting the digitizer to the board. (Do not remove the digitizer from the casing only reconnect the cable).
Replacement is better done by a service center as it requires careful handing.
I did open the phone, removed and reconnected the cable, still the same. also tried 2 new digitizer still the same result. I guess it us the mother board . Any ideas where to get replacement board ?
Thanks

i have got the same problem like you and i have solved it.
Do compass calibration like spin the phone 3 times in flat condition (laying down face up), then have the phone standing up and rotate 3 times, then on one side, rotate 3 times and then move your defy in the shape of number "8" in the air. Re-open the screen. it is suppose to bring back your screen work like it was nothing happened.
only for my defy i've tried never did this for another but from what i see you have nothing to lose here
Tried the calibrating thing and also a new digitizer. doesn't work. So it is the motherboard.
Anyone knows where to get mother board
Got a headache? It's all in your head!!!
Getting a new board is like getting a new phone - new IMEI, price for the board should be very similar to the pricw for a new phone too. If you think about it, it IS the phone. What's there in the phone other than the board a screen and a digitizer...
Guess you're right.

I had the same problem before and I think it has come back to haunt me. Its not software, your digitizers seems to be faulty and it will only get worse. If you turn on the "show touches" options in the developers section (phone menu) you can see where your screen is affected. I tried everything and the only way I could resolve my issue was to replace the digitizer and LCD. Fortunately you can buy them at reasonable prices online and there quite easy to replace if you follow guides (Youtube have plenty) on how to do so. I replaced my own screen a couple of months ago and it worked perfectly until now. There seems to be something about the winter weather that destroys screen and i've seen people on other forums with different phones say similar.
had the same problem too

I had the same problem sometimes, but every time i had, it was the screen needing a clean. Sometimes a drop of water can simulate a touch or something else that adhere to the screen. So all i did to solve it was a clean.

Black Screen Phone Still Responsive

TMobile HTC G2
Ok so my friend dropped his phone and his screen went black. Everything still works; turns on, buttons are responsive, digitizer works. Screen has nothing on it though.
Took it all apart, cleaned out all the dust, reseated all the cables and still nothing. Tried booting into pwr+vol down but still nothing on the screen. So I figured most likely suspect and ordered an LCD screen. Replaced the screen and still nothing.
Do you think I should call "DOA" on the screen? or do you think there is another issue going on here?
Please help, thank you.
The main flex cable is a likely suspect
Thank you that would be the next thing I replaced. I just seen so many posts with this same issue I figured maybe there was some secret goldcard this, calibrate that lol
