The device is paid off so finally mine, I don't have any contract with sprint, so I called them to unlock my phone and they gave me my msl# (#!$#%) and they told me that is the code that I need and the other carrier should know how to use this code to activate the phone.... is that true?
I thought I can just connect a sim card and call the carrier and change the imei number
Anyone with any help will be appreciated

i need a program or aplication for unlock the carrier! my phone is root but not unlock!
You will have to contact your carrier, or the one that the phone was originally on. They will give you a Sim unlock pin number, then you insert the foreign sim and enter the pin. Voila!
You really only have 2 choices:
1) Get the code from T-Mobile (it doesn't have to be your account, can ask friends for help)
2) Get it from 3rd party (for example ebay sellers). This will probably cost you about 25 dollar.
As far as I know there isn't any program that can do sim unlock for the slide. Correct me if Im wrong.
I think the mytouch 4g has this option in some program (i rooted a mytouch 4g a few months ago), maybe it can be ported to the slide? idk
There is no program... Your best bet is call T-Mobile and have an account in good standing*meaning you have paid your bill and it won't be past due*I would tell them you are going out of the country for a vacation so you need it to use a prepaid sim out there.
Then there is also sites that get you the unlock code as suggested by users above enjoy.
or if you don't have a tmobile account, find a friend that has tmobile. Maybe someone on this site could help you out?
requesting an unlock code is free, and any tmobile customer can do it for you.
I think a master thread for unlocking phones should be made. I'm sure all the users on this site could help each other out with something as simple as unlock codes. Unlock codes are something you shouldn't have to pay for, especially if you can get one for free.
Coming from an AT&T customer using a T-mobile mytouch 3G Slide. Got mine unlocked kindly by the man who sold the phone to me on eBay. No charge
I will try to keep this as short and to the point as I can..
Have a i747. Going out of USA for a vacation.. Need to check if my phone is unlocked.. Have a very old Tmobile sim.. I put it in (did not ask me for any unlock code) and it says emergency call only and shows signal with message "sim not provisioned mm#2".. and when I check phone status, it says "Out of Service".. I tried the sim on an unlocked iPhone and that also says no service with NO signal.. All my friends out here are either on Verizon, sprint or ATT... Any help is very much appreciated..:crying:

Maybe you need a newer T-Mobile micro sim?
Talked to ATT and they gave me the unlock code..
Sweet rep just gave it to me.. Be reasonable with them and they are good to give u the code. It has never asked me for the code, but at anytime it does, I now have the code..Yay..!!
I have a T-mobile Galaxy S5 on the way to me right now and it is SIM locked to T-mobile. I want to use it for t-mobile (purchasing the t-mobile version for the unlocked bootloader.)
Instead of bothering the original owner to have to hassle with T-mobile to obtain an unlock code, since it is paid-off and on the white-list (not blacklisted) I figured I would contact samsung directly.
Samsung rep was surprisingly very nice and helpful about the situation. I provided him the IMEI number and he said it's good to unlock. He said they can go ahead and provide me SIM unlocking when I receive the device and to call back with the reference number they provided me to obtain the unlock code.
Has anyone else had any luck contacting samsung directly before?
Actually this is a two part question.
1. I called sprint to see if i can get my phone unlocked so that I could test it on another carrier. At first they refused, then they said ok and gave me the MSL # for the phone. Is that all that is needed if i wanted to go to t-mobile or some other carrier and switch the phone to them? Can I unlock the phone myself if i have the MSL #?
2. if the phone were unlocked, and I had a sim card from another carrier, could i just swap sim cards and use the phone on the other carrier? Or does the phone have to be activated with the carrier first? I've got a friend with a note 4 from t-mobile and i was hoping i could just pop his sim card into my phone to test my phone out on t-mobiles network. I don't really want to sign up for service unless i know for sure the service is better.
Thanks

What i know of the MSL code dosen't unlock phones, sprint lies. It just opens up a hidden menu. There's a forum on here that shows how to domestic unlock the Note 4. To answer your second question, yes if it's unlocked you can just put the sim card in and if you did the unlocking right it should get the signal from T-mobile.

wow so is sprint support completely incompetent or liars? They told me the MSL code was all that was needed to unlock the phone. and that i would NOT be able to just swap out the sim card to test it - i'd have to actually sign up for service with the other carrier and register/activate my phone under that plan

They're just liers. They don't want you going to another company. Heres the forum that shows how to domestic unlock

[GUIDE] SIM Unlock Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop 5.0.x

So the other day I bought a smg920p off of somebody on offer up now I bought it when I got home I check the IMEI and it says its Financial eligibility not too quite sure what that means I was just curious if there's any way for me to unlock it when I put a SIM card in it from another carrier it says invalid SIM card doesn't give me the option to unlock it so can I only use it with Sprint or can I not use it at all or is the way for me to flash it and unlock it to use with other carriers
From Sprint via Google search: " If the device is financially attached to a Sprint account, then you will not be able to add that device to a different account."
The phone was on a lease, should have been returned to Sprint, but they sold it to you instead. Can you unlock it legitimately? No. Is there some hack that you can use? I don't have a clue.
