I have those folder on my internal storage, I flash the Android 4.4.4 through PC Companion I have try flash it several times but the "baidu" folder still exist, I did not see any new apps since upgraded from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 why there is now have baidu folder?
Which app that generate this folder?
I got the same folder after updating to 4.4.4. Don't know where it came from. Deleted it, for now it didn't come back...

Yes, I did factory reset when updating. Also trying "Repair my phone" which will wipe your data. But the folder still comes.

Just searched a bit, many people on different devices got that folder. Seems to be related with google or the latest android version.
After updating my Xperia Z to 4.4.4 there is this baidu-folder too.
Sometimes those folders come from in app ads or internet without your permission

I am using an ad blocker, which redirects requests for ads to local host. So I don't think it was generated by ad. Even if it was, it has to be the app that shows the ad, that generates the folder. Just because ad is displayed in an app it can't genrate a new folder.
I didn't have that folder on 4.3, and I'm quite sure I didn't have it on 4.4.2. Since the update to 4.4.4 I only installed one new app: Google Authenticator. Anyone with the baidu-folder using this app?
If not, it has to be created by a new system app or a app that was modified for .283.

Baidu is actually a new Chinese company. Similar to Google There is also baidu market. So it's impossible this be a system app.
That's why I'm saying it's caused by ads.
In some firmwares it's can break the security systems of the device and create this folder.

I have tried tô delete thus foder, but when I restart my phone, this folder is show again...
Baidu is like a ¥€$€$$ here in Brazil...

I had a same folder on my new Xperia Z3 Compact.
In my case, it was "my Xperia".
It seems to contain some libraries that comes from "Baidu".
Please try blocking "my Xperia" if you don't need it.
1. Install android SDK.
2. Run adb shell ("adb shell").
3. Block my Xperia ("pm block com.sonymobile.mx.android")

Hey guys,
I've been trying to update my phone OTA but it keeps saying "Could not update".
The phone downloaded the update, turned off the phone and started updating just to reboot and tell me that it couldn't update.
Do any of you have an idea why this is happening?
Phone details:
Rooted Arc 2.3.3;
3.0.1.A.0.145;
UK Generic (I don't live in the UK though).
I'd appreciate any help, dying to try the new update
Thanks in advance!

I haven't deleted anything other than bloatware off my Arc.
The apps I've deleted were mentioned in the "List of system apps" thread as "Safe to remove".
Other than that.. I've installed Supercharger...
make sure that no manager apps is running, if you still cant find any updates go to manage apps in settings - applications and force stop or clear data and you should get newest updates. Sometimes the downloading bar isnt changing for a few minutes because the server cant get an instant connection.

If you have modded contents, OTA will fail. This applies to removal of any "system" applications. ("system"=that can't be uninstalled via normal method. "root" is required to uninstall such applications).
Hope this helps.

You must wait for your firmware region to be relesead OTA or flash another to your phone. See: General section of the Arc forum, the sticky thread on top -Index of Neo and Arc firmware.
Ps. Most new firmware has been released via PCC, try it!

Mind describing how you removed? Frozen/Removed totally?
I'm using TB to freeze all the bloat-ware and unfreeze if required for some function. FYI.
Same thing happens to me. Using 4.0.2.A.0.42 Singapore Generic. When i remove the extra apps like AppXTra, McAfee, WhatsApp by making the icons start bouncing around using the bottom left button in apps list, or in settings > applications > manage applications, they always come back on the next reboot somehow.

Yes I uninstalled them like that and it didn't work. I used root explorer to delete the files and it also doesn't work. Not sure where these apps are coming from after being uninstalled. I updated via SEUS if it helps matters.
i got one app that came after i did..
back up LIVEware manager and uninstalled the next day i saw it again
but the other stuff theyre all gone..
Check my singature for the tutorial on how to remove them, if you do it like that they won't come back.
Erm I followed exactly..still comes back after reboot.

I rebooted mine at least 3 times on .42 and they never came back.
Really strange
They sit in /system/etc/product/applications/. Simply use Root Explorer (or any other root-enabled file manager) to delete them.
The usual bloat sits in /system/app/ but these ones are quite different.

I used the Generic Germany version via flashtool and this did not happen, but when I downgraded it for another reason and upgraded via SEUS to Generic Singapore, this problem happened. Does not seem to affect other versions thus far.
I think it's a Singapore firmware issue. I just flashed to 4.0.2.A.0.42 Singapore Generic and had the same issue with some bloatwares (e.g. Foursquare and UEFA apps) that I uninstalled using Titanium Backup. I had no such issues when I was on 4.0.1.A.0.283 Global Generic.
Edit: The "stubborn" apps I've identified thus far are Foursquare, Foursquare for Timescape, appXtra, Xperia Hot Shots and UEFA.com app. Tried uninstalling via 3rd party uninstallers but to no avail. Other bloatwares like Let's Golf and OfficeSuite are ok (i.e. remains uninstalled).
Previously, I had the same issue of the bloatwares coming back after upgrading from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 Singapore generic rom. What i did was to repair it using SEUS which will wipe out the phone data. After that, simply uninstall those bloatwares using the normal method and perform a reboot to confirm they are gone before proceed to root.
I have no problem removing those system apps by moving them to the SDCard, apps like Data Monitor or Data Switch and after many reboots, they never come back.
Guess you need to remove them from the System/app folder.
Have you tried removing them from /system/etc/product/applications/ location? (From one of the previous post)
I found 4 apps sit there, but interestingly I didn't get them installed back when I uninstalled them via TB !! With same Singapore Firmware!! (Just as a precaution, I removed them from the above said location).

I found only 4 apks hiding in the /system/etc/product/applications/ folder, 2 x UEFA apps, McAfee and Xperia Hot Shots. Removed them from the folder using Root Explorer, rebooted and true enough, those apps are no longer "re-installed".
But Foursquare, Foursquare for Timescape and appXtra are still being automatically reinstalled after the reboot. I searched and found the apks located in the /data/app folder. Removed them using Root Explorer, rebooted but the apps are still automatically "re-installed" after that.
Searched the /system/app folder but the apks were not there. Any idea where else the apks for Foursquare, Foursquare for Timescape and appXtra might be hiding?

I'm having problems with these too. I can locate the files but Root Explorer cannot change the permissions of the files from 'Read Only', meaning I can't delete them.

Of course it's rooted. The problem was I was missing the r/w toggle at the top left of RE.
Mostly sorted now... Just need rid of a the apps xtra! and other bits of bloat now... Same stage as you now. I'll update if I find the location of these little bastards.
I flashed my ion with the latest at&t ICS then root it with bin4ry's method. It installed the superuser and I can uninstalled apps using the flashtool but when I try to uninstall through the phone I can't (tried it with apps then going to app I want to uninstall, instead of uninstall I only get disable). Am I missing a setting? I remembered when I flashed my phone with the international ICS I can simply uninstall all the apps I want.
Thanks in advance and thank you for all the guides and other things that makes this phone fun to use.
Actually even with international firmware there are some apps you can't uninstall through the settings -> apps menu. For those apps use something like root explorer and remove the apk manually in the system/apps folder. That removes it from your phone.

If you are trying to uninstall system or certain preloaded apps you need to use ti-backup from market. The /settings/apps program will only uninstall user apps not system apps

Uninstall Almost Any System App
Have you ever wanted to remove a system app?
To remove a system app you need to have:
1.Rooted Phone
2.Root Explorer(ex.ES File Explorer)
3.Custom Recovery(or ability to reset dalvik and cache)
4.Apps to Remove!
Let´s get started!
0.Make a backup of your phone just in case.
1. Remove the App´s data.Go to Settings/Apps/All/ and select the app. Then Clear Data and Cache.
2.Navigate with root explorer to /System/App/
3.Select the app that you want to delete and delete it!
4.Then Clear Dalvik and Cache(This will remove the app from the apps list)

I have installed CWM11 and a new kernel. I realise I need to have access to G play and so have installed Gapps. It brings with it many extra apps that I do not want. In order to be able to access and install new apps from the G play which of the gapps apps must I retain? I ask because I read that G play access requires more than one of the apps in the gapps folder.

Which package did you install?

I installed the ace2nutzer kernel 4.4.
No, I didn't meant the kernel. Rather which gapps package are you using.
Besides, could you mention which apps do you mean are there but not needed?
Alternatively, try this package: http://d-h.st/ILFH
Afaik, it only contains store, play service, hangout, and what it requires for them to run.
I have installed gapps-kk-20140606-signed.zip. There seem to be too many apps in there which grab ram. Do you know which ones I can safely remove?
I thought I could answer my question by comparing the contents of /system/app/ on my phone with the same location in the mini-gapps you suggested. I have many more apps than the 4 in the mini-gapps. Is the position that the only ones that are essential to remain in /system/app/ are those 4?
Am I correct to assume that the contents of priv-app should be left alone?
Well, if you wanna go by comparing, you should compare the contents from the gapps you flashed and the one I gave before.
Priv-app is also safe to be removed if you are sure that you are not using it. In essence, the ones in priv-app uses system level permission, but nevertheless it's still an app.
Priv-app seems to be a subdirectory which contains 4 apps.
I hope you find the time to comment, however briefly, on the following:
Where do i find NT-app? I did not find it in GP.
Can I run the phone and get apps from google.play if I remove
google play services
Hangouts
Google search
A number of apps starting with com.android.....
Also I note that some of my apps are shown twice as running. Do you know if that is a fault?

Greets all,
my Mate 20x came up that there was an update to EMUI 10 so I updated, all went well from what I saw, except now I cant install apks from dropbox, it comes up saying: "please download an app that can open this file". I cant download files from the play store and install, and I have made sure that install from unknown sources was enabled. I also made sure "files" app was set to allowed also. The update version is: 10.0.0.176, and no newer version is coming up. This is the Chinese version AL-00
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Update, seems the only way I can install apps is by using HiSuite at the moment.

No I cant do anything with Dropbox, but I was able to use HiSuite to install apks. And i just got the update you were talking about, installing it now, maybe this will fix the issue with the apks installing from dropbox, cause as the prior user said, I dont want to factory reset and have to put everything back if its not going to work. There is another issue I noticed with the update also, If I go out of Wifi range I lose access to the internet, in other words the cell data doesnt kick in unless I turn off the mobile data and then turn it back on. So far very annoying update. Maybe this 185 can fix these. Here's hoping and trying.

im guessing it has to do with system rights to install apk files. even es file explorer pro is not allowed to do it with all permissions given.
