Phone Battery while using Moto 360 - Moto 360

Has anyone experienced a much faster drain on your phone with your moto 360 connected? I have LG G3 which has a great battery life to start with but I have noticed my phone charge is much lower now then it used to be normally.

No. But my device seemed to be a bit more laggy..

Yes, I noticed the same with Note 3.

Yes, I'm having incredible drain. It seems to be the "running sync loop" thing. That's the reason. Although I don't know why.

You have wearable widgets installed?

I haven't noticed any additional drain on my LG G3.

I just got my 360 and my G3 is definitely draining faster. Android Wear is using up a lot of battery.

Massive Battery Drain Xperia Z Ultra [Kitkat] from Androidwear app.
I'm glad i'm not the only one with this problem. I've noticed a massive battery drain on my Xperia ZU going from 100% to 50% in less than 4 hours ever since I got the 360. I've discovered that out of all of the processes I have running on the phone, the Android Wear app seems to the culprit (which would explain how hot the back gets on the phone).
The ZU's battery life isnt the greatest but it used to at least last me the whole day before I go to bed and (that's with heavy usage throughout the day). With light usage, usually I can get away with 30% of battery before hitting the hay.
Thoughts? sounds like we need an update...

What wear apps do you have installed? There might be something using it up. Maybe something that uses your location?

I uninstalled any wear apps, androidwear, and moto connect this morning in addition to resetting the 360. I re-paired the watch and only kept the standard app configurations: Agenda - Android Wear, Count Steps - Fit, and Navigate - Google Maps Micro. Even then I'm still draining battery...I just hit 32% since unplugging the phone with 100% @ 8:15 this morning (almost 5 hrs ago - Moto360 is at 70%). I've barely gotten maybe 6 notifications so far..

I've noticed no change in battery life at all with a 360 and my Moto X.

There's definitely a huge drain for me. My G3 was at 20% by 3 PM today, when usually I can get all the way to 10 PM before I hit those levels. My SOT is not even that high yet. I can tell the phone is not deep sleeping properly.

Yeah im not sure if its because I have a lot of things going on in my phone or if my phone is just getting laggy from the moto 360

I have better battery life now that I have my 360. Galaxy S5.

I'm getting the same. I used to get 5 hours on screen time with 14 hours of use. Now I get 3 hours onscreen time with 12 hours of use. That's 2 hours on screen time gone!
I used wakelock detector and it shows the Android wear app had 4586 wakelocks!!! In one day. Wtf! HOSTWITHRPCCALLBACK is the culprit. And system shows android is accountable for 12 percent battery drain. Compared to the next one, which is phone at 3 percent.
I did notice my battery drained like a mother.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Battery life is about the same. I do know I have to have my wifi/data on all the time now for the 360 to work properly. Before I had turn wifi off when screen is off and wifi on when plugged in.
Lg G2 still goes easily 24hrs+

That was one of the first things I noticed when I got the Moto 360, my Nexus 5's battery was draining more rapidly. Isn't leaving Bluetooth on anyway a big battery drainer?
I normally have it off, until I need it.

Not that big of a drain. I had a Pebble before with Bluetooth on all the time and a constant Bluetooth LE connection and there is definitely a difference in phone battery life with the Moto 360

Battery drain during standby.

It used to be that with the screen off and the phone on idle with the screen off, I would lose maybe 2% per hour. This morning, my battery quickly dropped to 50% with some phone call but very light use. So I charged it back up to 80%. For the last hour, it dropped about 9% with the screen completely off and I had cleared the memory prior to that. That is unusually high since the phone is sitting in one place in an area that has good 4g and 3g.
How is your standby battery drain? I am on LJC stock rooted.
Edit: reboot phone and now it is better. Loosing 6% in 2 hours of standby. Much better.

Glad a reboot helped. I'd recommend rebooting every day. I usually do it first thing in the morning and before going to bed.
My battery life on LJC rooted was fantastic. Never had a phone like this. My EVO3D with 3300 extended battery was good, but still not as good as the note2.
I experienced a really weird battery drain a few weeks ago but cannot replicate it. However it dropped from 100% to 42% in 2 hours time. Pulled battery recharged it and nothing since. But I usually get 16+ hours a day with extreme usage. I am talking 5 hours of netflix and some pandora and games. On my weekend when I dont use the phone much I get 48 hours usually.

I kept checking it with battery monitor widget and the third and fourth hour, it was only losing 1% per hour much like my old E4GT. Battery drain went down from -300ma to about -45ma.

Which app is that? I've been looking for something to view battery current, many I used on HTC phones don't work on Samsung.
Does that app also have a better understanding of what apps are causing battery drain? I'm tired of seeing "Android OS" and not knowing EXACTLY what it is...Might help me diagnose my Fiance's E4GT (GS2) with "Android OS" as the main culprit at 67%...

That's just battery monitor widget available at the play store. It is still hard to tell what is exactly causing the -300ma drain during standby with screen off.

well, if you're not using the phone, with apps or whatever.. then something else has to take the place of the 'most used' application..
I hope this isn't the "omg android system is using all my battery" again that I seen all over the gs2 forums when it came out
attached is a screenshot of my battery usage, I been streaming music all day at work.. mostly wifi, screen on a generous amount of time.. browsing xda, internet.. even played around with autodesk sketchbook..
Just got the phone today, it's been ridiculous. I've recharged my phone from 20% to 95% twice today. Granted, I've been using it non-stop
Now at 65%. Just terrible!
Android System 38%
Screen 20% (time on only 2h 5m)
Android OS 11%
Facebook 8%
Cell standby 5%
I had a lot of sync crap turned on that wasn't on my note 3 (like auto sync photos to google cloud), as well as some other settings that I just turned off like AT&T Address Book, and several google sync services I have no need for. Hoping that fixes it, I'll know tomorrow!

A background process is eating your battery. I have gotten over a full days use with 3 hours or more of screen time and still at 35%, that or you got a bad battery. This phones battery life is incredible
Since I just got my phone this morning, I will have to report my batter usage later.
However, the phone charges SUPER FAST!
I'll tell you when it doesn't charge fast, I plugged it into my S3 charger last night at 11% and it still wasn't at 100% when I woke up about 9 hours later. Yesterday I got 3 1/2 hours of screen time after starting at 70% when I actually got the phone around 5 pm. The phone was under HEAVY use (downloading updates on LTE, customizing, etc.) I'll be interested to see how it does today under mostly normal conditions.

Glad to hear you feel that way! Thank you for the glimmer of hope! I have a feeling you are very right, and that it could have also had a lot to do with the huge amount of downloading I was doing yesterday. Today should be a much more normal day of use. I'll check back in a bit.
My battery went from fully charged to 94% in a matter of minutes just using the Internet. I decreased the screen brightness and removed the sync from some apps. If I don't see an improvement before my 14 days is up this is going back.
I also realized power saving mode was not enabled. After enabling that and disabling all unnecessary sync services, I'm stoked.
Usage seems to be great now, too.

You shouldn't have to use power save to get good battery performance. You definitely have a bad battery
Really? It seems pretty good to me now.
Is there a wake lock detector you would be able to recommend? Looks like it needs root?
I let my battery completely drain where it cut off at 1% and let the battery charge fully. Powered it back up and made sure nothing was syncing that I didn't need and now the battery seems to be performing better then before.

Either you have fast charging turned off or something is wrong with your charger/battery. turned off my phone charged 0-100% in 79 mins.
Yeah, his phone is broken or misconfigured if it charges slower than a Note 3. I've owned both, and the note 4 charges WAY faster.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A
I agree it is very noticeably faster. N3 was decent already with the provided charger, but N4 charge blazes.
Kinda want to get that Qualcomm fast charge 2.0 car charger so I can charge from 12v sources. The standard usb 5v 500mA regulated charge is pitiful
I have to constantly kill Index Service. It's loading CPU up to 100%. There's a bug since at least Note II. If you have large PDF files or many files of any kind, it will never finish indexing. Some reports link it to 64GB cards, but mine does it even without the card.

I get 2.5 days battery life on average. Had sudden drain twice since I have it. That's OK with me considering a recharge is done in under an hour and the watch is far less important than my phone.
In my experience with smartwatches like smartphones or any other computer it is helpful to reboot it once in a while. I do that after every two or three charge cycles.
There are so many factors that play into battery life or that might even drain the battery. As far as I can see there doesn't seem to be a specific thing that can be held responsible for the bad experience some people have with the sw3. I don't think there is anything wrong with the watch just bad luck and an unfortunate combination of circumstances for some users.

I also get 2.5 days on average, anyway sw3 is about to get Android wear 1.4(Android 6.0) and possibly all battery problems will be gone.
I have : SW3, LG-G, LG-R and a Gear2 with Wear Mode. SW3 is the only wich can drain battery from 50% to 4% in 2H. Exactly same app and same use case for the 4 watch.
drain issue hasn't been fixed, but a workaround I do that seems to stabilize it is to restart after charging. Haven't had a bad drain since.

I got mine on Friday, and was ready to send it back to Amazon by Sunday because of the battery drain,
However, after reading the posts on here about restarting after a full charge, it does seem better. It's still a problem that need fixing, but this workaround certainly helps.
i have no sudden drain problem at all, i get about 2,5 days with average use. I'm running latest stock unmodified LCA43 firmware
No drain here. Easy 2 days of battery per charge
I don't think it is an issue anymore.
Mine hasn't drained for a while but it did today. Went from about 50% to 10% in about an hour or two. ?
Had also the battery drain in the beginning (bought it maybe 10 month ago). Restarting after fully recharged helped...till yesterday. I've the same behaviour like user dersie & Sparksltd, suddenly it drops from 50% to 0 within 2h again.

It's definitely still a problem for me - seems that unless I do a restart after charging I get the drain issue after every third charge and the watch goes from 100% to dead in about 7 hours whereas on a 'normal' day I would expect to use around 40% in an entire day which equates to the 2.5 days use some users are reporting.

I did get a big drain back in December of 2015 along with everyone else, but looking back I think that drain was (or may have been) caused by the OTA update of the Android Wear OS - not the old drain issue. And except for that I haven't had one in months. I am very sorry to see that you and so many other SWR50 owners are still having problems with this.
Bought this watch two weeks ago and it's rock solid. No drain at all, it easily lasts for 2 days of usage.

Since 4 days on MM....long way to go until we know for sure though...so far MM seems pretty stable...equal or improved over the previous one.
Quick update from M - 3rd day, 20% battery left. Thanks Sony
After update to MM I turned off gps, wifi and my watch not live more than day. It have about 5% power consumption per hour. What the problem is?
Havn't seen much change yet.
But even when the watch was om 5.1.1 it did good time. Two to four days between charging. Normal two days when using GPS for running every second day.
And so fare it behaves the same on 6.0.1.
No, it didn't. Not because it was 5.1.1's fault but it was app sync's fault.
I had only one battery drain on 6.0.1 - it was right after the very first setup. The same thing happened to me when I was setting up my watch the very first time while on 5.1.1.
On both versions, unpairing the watch, forgetting it in the app, resetting the watch and then, again, pairing it with the phone while plugged, letting it do its job during the sync process, not touching both the phone AND the watch for some time fixed the problem.
Battery life on 6.0.1 is very, very good. The watch lasts for about 3 days. Always On - ON, Gestures - ON, WiFi - ON... well, everything is on, even location.

It drop to 10 after power ON the morning. When Power Off for the night it was at 46%
So no software issue (and never was software issue), just a deffective (deteriored) batt. I think there are faulty regulator charge circuit in SW3 and the battery overcharged. Just see how fast an SW3 can be charged, not normal charge process.
In general way, when a lithium batt drain faster after 50(40) % it mean batt is damaged.
I have normal drain from 50% to maybe 40%. Problem is after 40%.
So far I haven't suffered the random battery drain since the update.

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the OnePlus 3T's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I think MM is good in general, but so far so good. I only lose 1 to 3% overnight.
I have plenty of battery drain overnight, mostly the Android system, Android OS and Google services.
I've had the phone for 2 days now and overnight battery drain is around 5%, but the real problem is that Android System takes up around 30% of my battery.
in 8h night (standby) i get 1-2% drain.
wifi, sync enabled.
if you get major drain, then its something on your setup causing it.
its always like that. (except something is broken on hardware side)
OxygenOS 3.5.1. - 1-2% battery drain;
OxygenOS 3.5.3. - 0% battery drain (in one scenario phone was left to [email protected]% (took off the charger and it drained 0% in 4 hour sleep period and in the other scenario the phone was left @53% to sleep and it drained 0% in 8 hour sleep period)
more info can be found here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/battery-life-sd821-400mah-t3505786
My experience is that the phone is better than average for sleep drain, just ~1-2 % with stock kernel. With Tyranus kernel v12 by @mdalexca, I'm not seeing any drain overnight at all. Battery life on medium usage looks to be a few days at least. (Yeah, I'm a light user aside from my first week with a new phone where I nearly wear it out ;)
Using Nova Launcher ...experiencing battery drain 3~4% overnight (5-7 hours) with WiFi off. But during the day, WiFi on, not even touching phone and it goes down 10% in an hour and a half. Battery reports Android System as the culprit. Any suggestions guys?

Turn off Android System.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
I got pretty good standby last night. Some nights don't give me near as good standby, so it's quite inconsistent.

Hows your deep sleep, working ok? Even if it shows Android system, it could be some app which isnt working correctly.
I got someone here with one plus 3 non t version (I got t, same problem like you) and is just flashed Chinese version of one plus 3 on his phone and zero drain but bare in mind the Chinese version doesn't got Google services at all , no play store and stuff , is saying is got more juice now , but I am just thinking you will need to install Google services for YouTube and stuff . Hmmm just saying Google battery hog .
For now I am waiting for developers to receive their phone . I just can't wait for many custom ROMs
using stock Oxygen with BT/Wifi on, 2 push accounts with 4-5% drain overnight

How do I check the deep sleep? I just went back to the shop and idk what they did but they said they ran a software check(?) And asked me to try the phone again for a day. Surprisingly overnight with wifi off only went down 1℅ (but this was on oneplus launcher) but then during the day it drained as fast as previous. But now the batt reports show first Android OS, Cell standby and then Android system....

I'm not sure is it possible to check it without the root, but if you are rooted, then BetterBatteryStats is quite handy: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats&hl=en

Yeah that apps requires root...thanks anyway
I have the MBA bug. I see a lot of people avoid it by staying on WiFi but I can't. Result is rapid battery drain.
I'm still getting reasonable battery though if I remember to toggle airplane mode. Device sleeps well enough. Almost perfect awake to screen on ratio.

Looks like OnePlus isn't bothered to fix this bug.

why don't you disable wifi/bt scanning and disable facebook/messenger notificationn?
oneplus is actually well optimized and drain is about 4% overnight

Wifi scanning and bluetooth is already disabled, and facebook isn't installed. This same issue exists in Oneplus 3 and Oneplus is not bothered to fix it.
