Hello,
I want to get this smartwatch but is the drain as bad as everyone suggests? Is it fixed?
Thanks

3 times last week, worse since last update few days ago.
Mine needs charging every day, no point having it, if you turn all the features off to extend the battery
Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
I get 2.5 days battery life on average. Had sudden drain twice since I have it. That's OK with me considering a recharge is done in under an hour and the watch is far less important than my phone.
In my experience with smartwatches like smartphones or any other computer it is helpful to reboot it once in a while. I do that after every two or three charge cycles.
There are so many factors that play into battery life or that might even drain the battery. As far as I can see there doesn't seem to be a specific thing that can be held responsible for the bad experience some people have with the sw3. I don't think there is anything wrong with the watch just bad luck and an unfortunate combination of circumstances for some users.

I also get 2.5 days on average, anyway sw3 is about to get Android wear 1.4(Android 6.0) and possibly all battery problems will be gone.
I have : SW3, LG-G, LG-R and a Gear2 with Wear Mode. SW3 is the only wich can drain battery from 50% to 4% in 2H. Exactly same app and same use case for the 4 watch.
drain issue hasn't been fixed, but a workaround I do that seems to stabilize it is to restart after charging. Haven't had a bad drain since.

I got mine on Friday, and was ready to send it back to Amazon by Sunday because of the battery drain,
However, after reading the posts on here about restarting after a full charge, it does seem better. It's still a problem that need fixing, but this workaround certainly helps.
i have no sudden drain problem at all, i get about 2,5 days with average use. I'm running latest stock unmodified LCA43 firmware
No drain here. Easy 2 days of battery per charge
I don't think it is an issue anymore.
Mine hasn't drained for a while but it did today. Went from about 50% to 10% in about an hour or two. ?
Had also the battery drain in the beginning (bought it maybe 10 month ago). Restarting after fully recharged helped...till yesterday. I've the same behaviour like user dersie & Sparksltd, suddenly it drops from 50% to 0 within 2h again.

It's definitely still a problem for me - seems that unless I do a restart after charging I get the drain issue after every third charge and the watch goes from 100% to dead in about 7 hours whereas on a 'normal' day I would expect to use around 40% in an entire day which equates to the 2.5 days use some users are reporting.

I did get a big drain back in December of 2015 along with everyone else, but looking back I think that drain was (or may have been) caused by the OTA update of the Android Wear OS - not the old drain issue. And except for that I haven't had one in months. I am very sorry to see that you and so many other SWR50 owners are still having problems with this.
Bought this watch two weeks ago and it's rock solid. No drain at all, it easily lasts for 2 days of usage.
I tend to switch mine off over night, I have noticed that from time to time despite being switched off it drains the battery. Has anyone got same issue ?

No it is a random issue and we never know why ???
After 2 days without map I have no issue. No enough time to know if it is related but I have good hope of the issue is related to "Google map"

hey i was a while ago waiting for the 4.1.2 update of the note 2 n7100 ... i saw a couple of days ago that people are not satisfied with the update and that it is causing problems ,, mainly the " SDS" and others complaining about freezes.
can someone tell me what is the update version that is having this problem??
also have anyone here faced this problem with the update
if your eMMc chip is vulnerable to sds, the 4.1.2 temporaly fix it,also it fix exynos abuse
The problem i have faced since the update is:
The phone will never go on deepsleep, reducing battery life.
Is highly recommended that if your phone is vulnerable to sds upg to 4.1.2
well i checked and my phone is not vulnerable ,, i saw that the update has some new features that seemed to be useful , i will consider updating ...
anyway thanks bro
There are no problems with 4.1.2, it has several small improvements. Never had reboot or freeze or anything wrong happen. The only problem is battery life which is shorter then with 4.1.1....

I don't have any "numbers" but it is so OBVIOUS, not small difference.... I.e. overnight drain was 1-2% now it is 10% at least... previously I charged my Note II until midnight, in the morning it was like 98%, I used it whole day at work and came home at 5pm with like 40-50% battery. Now I charge it at work until lunchtime (12:00) and come home and it is like 40-50% level... so NOTICABLE diference....

Taken on my 4.1.2 stock device. And that's with BT on all the time, and WIFI on when the screen is on, and just a brief 10 minutes or so on charge.
Battery life on 4.1.2 is just fine.
some devices will have normal battery life on 4.1.2, my phone got a random wakelock with 4.1.2, while my mother note 2 with 4.1.2 got normal battery life.

I state quite clearly that I did charge it, briefly. It makes bugger all different to the overall power consumption, which you can see quite clearly.

however; tonight i will include battery status of my phone with no background apps..[i will shut down everything including wifi , BT , antivirus]
tomorow i will turn on BT, WIFI & lookout antivirus
I was expecting to find more people talking about issues with the 4.1.2 upgrade - does appear to be a minority (that I am unfortunately in)
Since upgrading, my (sim free) Note 2 has gone from being just about perfect in operation and behaviour to suffering;
- Daily episodes of freezing (often requiring a battery out to reset)
- 2 or 3 times a day it will randomly re-boot itself
- whilst typing on keyboard often suddenly goes very laggy
- battery life has *defnintely* worsened (probabbly by around 15% or so per days use - it does deep sleep though)
- calendar view/settings reset themselves every re-boot (annoying)
All the above annoy the cr4p out of me, as I am super picky with my phones/devices and I'm pretty dissappointed with this - given the phone was SO slick pre-update. I can't stand to have a buggy phone, so unless there's an update to cater for these issues very soon (.3?) it's S4 for me.
(I would roll back to .1 in a heartbeat, but looking at how to do it, it's tantamount to a rooting processs in it's 'complexity' - you guys may be adept at such things, but to me they just look like an uneccessary ball-ache - shame there can't be a kind of 'macro/apk/idiots program' that does it all for you! But there you go, I'll have to suffer for now and see which way to jump in a few weeks I guess).
My advice? DON'T upgrade to .2 - I can't see any discernable benefit in day to day use, but I can see a LOT of irritating downside.
Very pi55ed off
Sounds like you've got something else going on than the 4.1.2 update. I have NONE of those issues at all, and battery life is just as excellent as it ever was.
i'm on 4.1.2
I've updated my mobile to 4.1.2
Baseband version : N7100XXDLK7
Build number : N7100XXDMB5
and i don't have any single problem with that update....
and the battery performance has really improved
overnight test ... without BT or WIFI but antivirus is on
tonight i will put BT and WIFI on

Yes, I noticed the same with Note 3.
Yes, I'm having incredible drain. It seems to be the "running sync loop" thing. That's the reason. Although I don't know why.
You have wearable widgets installed?
I haven't noticed any additional drain on my LG G3.
I just got my 360 and my G3 is definitely draining faster. Android Wear is using up a lot of battery.
Massive Battery Drain Xperia Z Ultra [Kitkat] from Androidwear app.
I'm glad i'm not the only one with this problem. I've noticed a massive battery drain on my Xperia ZU going from 100% to 50% in less than 4 hours ever since I got the 360. I've discovered that out of all of the processes I have running on the phone, the Android Wear app seems to the culprit (which would explain how hot the back gets on the phone).
The ZU's battery life isnt the greatest but it used to at least last me the whole day before I go to bed and (that's with heavy usage throughout the day). With light usage, usually I can get away with 30% of battery before hitting the hay.
Thoughts? sounds like we need an update...

I uninstalled any wear apps, androidwear, and moto connect this morning in addition to resetting the 360. I re-paired the watch and only kept the standard app configurations: Agenda - Android Wear, Count Steps - Fit, and Navigate - Google Maps Micro. Even then I'm still draining battery...I just hit 32% since unplugging the phone with 100% @ 8:15 this morning (almost 5 hrs ago - Moto360 is at 70%). I've barely gotten maybe 6 notifications so far..
I've noticed no change in battery life at all with a 360 and my Moto X.
There's definitely a huge drain for me. My G3 was at 20% by 3 PM today, when usually I can get all the way to 10 PM before I hit those levels. My SOT is not even that high yet. I can tell the phone is not deep sleeping properly.

I used wakelock detector and it shows the Android wear app had 4586 wakelocks!!! In one day. Wtf! HOSTWITHRPCCALLBACK is the culprit. And system shows android is accountable for 12 percent battery drain. Compared to the next one, which is phone at 3 percent.
I did notice my battery drained like a mother.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Battery life is about the same. I do know I have to have my wifi/data on all the time now for the 360 to work properly. Before I had turn wifi off when screen is off and wifi on when plugged in.
Lg G2 still goes easily 24hrs+
That was one of the first things I noticed when I got the Moto 360, my Nexus 5's battery was draining more rapidly. Isn't leaving Bluetooth on anyway a big battery drainer?
I normally have it off, until I need it.

Since 4 days on MM....long way to go until we know for sure though...so far MM seems pretty stable...equal or improved over the previous one.
Quick update from M - 3rd day, 20% battery left. Thanks Sony
After update to MM I turned off gps, wifi and my watch not live more than day. It have about 5% power consumption per hour. What the problem is?
Havn't seen much change yet.
But even when the watch was om 5.1.1 it did good time. Two to four days between charging. Normal two days when using GPS for running every second day.
And so fare it behaves the same on 6.0.1.
No, it didn't. Not because it was 5.1.1's fault but it was app sync's fault.
I had only one battery drain on 6.0.1 - it was right after the very first setup. The same thing happened to me when I was setting up my watch the very first time while on 5.1.1.
On both versions, unpairing the watch, forgetting it in the app, resetting the watch and then, again, pairing it with the phone while plugged, letting it do its job during the sync process, not touching both the phone AND the watch for some time fixed the problem.
Battery life on 6.0.1 is very, very good. The watch lasts for about 3 days. Always On - ON, Gestures - ON, WiFi - ON... well, everything is on, even location.

exactly the same here, did the 6.0.1 update and battery down to 16% in less than 40 min.

It drop to 10 after power ON the morning. When Power Off for the night it was at 46%
So no software issue (and never was software issue), just a deffective (deteriored) batt. I think there are faulty regulator charge circuit in SW3 and the battery overcharged. Just see how fast an SW3 can be charged, not normal charge process.
In general way, when a lithium batt drain faster after 50(40) % it mean batt is damaged.
I have normal drain from 50% to maybe 40%. Problem is after 40%.
So far I haven't suffered the random battery drain since the update.

The battery meter isn't that accurate, its just an estimation based on the battery voltage versus how you use your phone (and the resulting "typical" battery drain). You shouldn't expect it to be accurate to the being within the 1-2 (or even 5) percent range. Shutting off at 4 to 11% is not unusual, and not surprising.
You shouldn't be draining your battery down that low on a regular basis. Its bad for long term battery life. Good rule of thumb for Li ion batteries is short and frequent charge cycles.
However, optimizing apps and/or google process stopped after a shutdown (due to low battery) is not normal. That's a different matter.
I have this problem, plus some of my settings get reset such as my wallpaper, ringtone, notification tone, boomsound (off to on), screen timeout, screen brightness, whatsapp (keeps asking me to chose my backup options and no messages come through until then). This has never happened before and I'm not sure why it's only happening now. I'm not purposely trying to drain the battery or anything, it's just that sometimes on the road I am unable to charge it and it'll just die out midway when previously, that extra 15% could've lasted me for another 30 minutes, just enough for me to reach my destination.
The same problem.. But the bigger problem for me, it's reseting my settings..
It is a terrible problem , I return to KitKat and my battery reaches 1% , and so normal ... I'll make a test with lollipop .
Yes, same problem! So glad someone made a thread for it. It's frustrating and happens literally every time.
Experienced on both the stock and a custom rom. Any one knows any fixes? Is it because of the 'battery life reduces over time' thing? My phone is 2 years old now

That seems to be a problem with all htc ones (m7, m8, m9) as they get older, dont worry its normal
ive been experiencing this for a while, clear dalvik cache and let android do the whole rebuilding thing at the start and you should be fine...as for the battery fix ive just learnt to live with it, 15% is the new 2%!!!
I'm on this problem since a lot of time, as i was one of the first in the community to report it.
Seems like an end-of-life issue for one m8 and htc one phones line.
In my case i had a camera and charge board issue too, so in rma htc changed them, and now the phone is charging and quick-charging like it must have to. But i have to be careful when near 15% of battery because using camera, flashlight or others power-expensive features instantly turns the phone off, causing a database mismatch on the next boot (for marshmallow) and consequently the loss of data.
If the instant-poweroff occurs during boot, there is a massive loss of data and a lot of force closes on the next boot.
Nothing to do here i think, sadly.
In kitkat and lollipop battery reach at 1% ...

I have a fix for this as it happened to me and I tried a battery calibration app from the app store... I thought what your thinking now but after finding bad sectors and "repairing" it did actually work
solve the problem of battery and loss of settings , change the battery of my htc, now everything is fine , 3 days that the battery is discharged properly , I hope this information will help someone.
thats kinda "cool" to see many people have same problem as i do. atleast it wont run u crazy as before
1. sometimes phone dies when battery is 15%, and sometimes it dies when around 4% 2% or even 1%
2.resetting settings after phone dies!
so is the solution, to change battery? any better way that doesnt need to spend money?

Yes I've done this a couple of weeks back. The replacement is actually less hard as it seems.
But finding an original replacement battery seems to be pretty hard - Even though the replacement I bought is HTC branded and looks genuine, I feel like it's actually draining a little faster than my old original. 12€ Ebay had too good to be true.
However the instant-shutoffs are now a thing of the past along with the database corruption, so I'm going to have to live with a little less battery life.
Or does anyone know of a provider for genuine batteries?
Hello, I've had my xl2 for about 2 weeks ago and just got the 8.1 update 3 days ago.
I have a pretty strict morning routine when I wake up and unplug my phone pretty much the same time every morning and do the same things on it. Prior to 8.1, I'd lose about 3-4% every hour and now after 8.1 I lose minimum 10% per hour.
Anyone else experiencing this?
I am lazy to factory reset my phone and don't see how it can help since it was just a version update to oreo 8.0.
yeah.. i noticed the same issue as well.. cant be bothered to do a factory reset :/
Been experiencing the same. I did a factory reset and started completely fresh (no backup restore) yesterday.
It doesn't look promising.

Same issue here. I was spoiled for a few weeks being able to be on my phone all day and leave work with 60% remaining. Now, with similar usage, I'm between 35-40%. It's still sufficient, just noticeably worse compared to how it was prior to 8.1.
In a sense I am happy to read that others have the same experience because hopefully then Google notices and fixes this. How can we give this feedback?
I am able to still make it a day but now I have to be conscious about my usage and before I didn't have to worry at all.
I think it's Google Play Services 11.9.51
I installed 11.7.46 and it seemed to stop draining immediately, but it auto-updated an hour later and has continued to drain since.

I was planning on flashing 8.1 but after reading this maybe I should hold back on that. Afterall I'd only be missing out on AR stickers and a slightly improved camera software.
Can't say I've seen the same. At 50% I regularly get between 4-5 hrs SOT.
Mine isn't as stellar as others listed, but it's better than what I got on 8.0.
Of course, everyone's usage is different as are the many variables that each device deals with.
Comparing 8.0 to 8.1 using the same device, under similar usage and variables, is a good, practical measurement of better or worse battery life.
Comparing diff devices, under completely different variables (wifi, signal, usage, charging practices, etc.) is for the most part futile

Just updated this morning, but so far my battery seems ok. 5% used after 4.5 hours.
I noticed the 2 XL ate battery for a couple of weeks after new, then settled down and has had excellent battery use (rather lack thereof) after. I've also noted that after major system updates the battery use shoots up for a while then settles back down.
I think it is only now reporting more accurately, but overall it still loose .3% per hour when phone idle and 7 to 8% per SOT hour, still charging once every 2 to 3 days.
People who are experiencing poor battery: turn your WiFi off, reboot, don't reconnect to WiFi.
Spend some time then post your results.

I think the poor battery life in 8.1 is related to buggy charging system, the new machine learning in battery estimated is buggy, google need to fix it.
Hi Everyone, I think I may of found the culprit.
In developer options there is ""keep mobile data on on wifi" which I believe maybe was disabled for 8.0 and then enabled on 8.1
Just discovered this tonight, I also factory reset my phone, clear all Google play services memory and force stopped RCS service.
Will report back tomorrow.
Unfortunately, maybe a slight improvement where I lost 9% instead of 10-12% on the same usage.
Guess this badboy is going back and going to try the U11+.
I'm noticing the same thing.
I'm currently at 80% with 1hr 20 minutes SOT and 7hr 45 min off the charger. Prior to the 8.1 update, with similar usage I'd be at like 87%. At this rate I'll probably be getting like 7 hours SOT over like 20 hours which is still pretty good but not like the 9 hours SOT over 36 hours I got pre-8.1.
Battery Issue after update resolved
I resolved the battery issue by changing the Google Play Services app Open By Default value from 'open in this app' to 'ask every time' and now my battery is back to it full potential!
I have no idea how or why this setting was changed, but my battery was near worthless after the 8.1 update. Under normal usage, the battery would be depleted after only 4-5 hrs which is nothing compared to the normal battery life I usually get (>24 hrs - 36 hrs).
Change this setting:
Settings>Apps>All Apps>Google Play Services>Open By Default>Open supported links>Ask every time
Does anyone else use more than one Gmail account? I was using two and it seems like part of the problem is this. I removed an account and got 3 hours of sot on the 50% battery. Before that, I got 2h with 50%
For me it looks like turn wifi on automatically is the cause. Think it's in conjunction with the new play services. I did the WiFi off and reboot and everything was fine until that started kicking in
Few weeks later and still getting a piece of **** battery life. This is so lame.
