Hey guys. I just got an AT&T SGH-i747 from a friend. I'm on T-mobile. Can someone point me to the proper threads to get this working with a T-Mobile sim card, rooted & custom recovery flashed? Thanks!
You just need to SIM unlock it to get it working on T-Mobile. If its on 4.3 firmware you'll need to buy a code online.
Root using Towelroot.
Never flash anything but a simple ROM from our forum. For anything else such as firmware you have to use at forums.

I747UCDMG2...which one is that? & can I get an unlock code from at&t without buying it?
BTW, I read the unlock thread after starting this one so at least I was able to get that far...lol
Edit: also, isn't there a way to check the binary code within a file & get the unlock code from there? I remember doing that with a friend's samsung infuse.
EDIT #2: Nevermind, I found the unlock method.

I think that's 4.1.2 so the unlock method should work.. For flashing custom recovery check the at&t threads, it may be different for that device than ours, and you should be fine flashing any of the T-Mobile ROMs here. Flashing a T-Mobile touchwiz ROM will even give you Wi-Fi calling as well if that's of interest to you

Thanks for the info. However, I don't think I have the 4.1.2 firmware. I don't have the "nw lock nv data initialliz" option
I have 4.1.2, but I need to roll back to 4.1.1 for the unlock method to work. I'm downloading odin, updated drivers, & 4.1.1 software now.
Soooo...I downgraded & unlocked successfully. However, I can't find towelroot. =\ I know my rooting options are limited, but can I use the odin method to root if I can't find towelroot? Also, I can't seem to use the mobile network for internet. Is this a known issue & is there a fix?
Towelroot is on page 1 in General.
Font know about network problem. Need detailed info about what is running on your device.

I'm still running stock, but when I try to open the internet without a wifi connection, it says no mobile network.
I do have another question, though. I can't seem to get from the MJB to the NE4 firmware. when I try to install it, it says:
Code:
assert failed: getprop("ro.bootloader") == "I727UCUEMJB"
Checking firmware version in phone info, it shows I727UCUEMJB. I have superuser flashed. I'm at a loss unless it's a bad file & I need to find another.
EDIT:
I found another file...yours, actually...and it gives me "FILE CORRUPTION DETECTED!!!"
Install and open terminal emulator. Enter this..
getprop ro.bootloader
Let us know what it returns.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T999 using Tapatalk
It's still showing DLK3.

Edit:
And I still have issues getting on the internet, no mobile network. I have S3Rx for the MJB firmware, along with ktoonsz kernel. does it possibly have to do with me browsing through the phone settings before I downgraded? I was exploring the different menus and could have possibly done something to disable my nework. any thoughts or ideas on that?
Actually, you are not on MJB firmware. You are on LK3 according to that command I gave you. So I'm guessing your baseband is MJB. This may be why it's not working. Flash the LK3 modem and see if that helps.

Ok. So I should go back to 4.1.1 using Odin, then flash up by steps? I tried the link with the update files, but they didn't work. The upgrade I did was supposed to be a modem flash from recovery. I got all my files from the sticky round up in the at&t section. What about the deal with my mobile network. That started way before all this, then I was on stock 4.1.1.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using XDA Free mobile app
Oh, I thought it started after you had flashed something. In that case, I'd say the best option is to flash stock firmware via Odin and factory reset. If you are full stock and clean, and still have problems, we will at least know its not soft/firmware related.

No. It has been that way. Afaik, it has been since I had this phone. Had no service until I downgraded to do the unlock. I was going through that diagnostics menu looking through it before I realized I had to downgrade to get the option I needed to unlock the phone. Maybe I did something while I was going through the different options in that menu.

If you are not in a refarmed area you'll have to do the AWS mod. Can you get LTE?
Hmmm. I know I'm in a city that can do lte: san antonio. I had to set the network control to gsm. However I chose all bands for gsm & all freq for lte.

That should be a refarmed area.. Choose automatic instead of GSm, that's why it will only connect to edge, and make sure you have the fast.t-mobile.com APN
Done. And it worked. Thanks!

Hey I'm trying to sell my S3 and after a factory reset and wiping everything in TWRP my name, email address and phone number is still under About device/Status. How do you remove this info? I really don't feel comfortable selling it to a stranger with all that info remaining is there a better wiping method? I'm not finding this anywhere. Thanks in advance.

This gets set when you activate. You may be able to clear it with ##rtn# but you will need your msl.

Is it a hassle to obtain your msl? When I had an HTC evo lte it was as simple as running an app with root permissions.

Edit : the only is on MB1 and per this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t= I need to downgrade and flash an LJ7 ROM which will let me get the code via terminal. So after I obtain my MSL I just go in the settings and delete my info right?

You are correct about the downgrade to get the MSL. There is a root app but it stopped working a while ago. I know that under the ##rtn# screen there is an option to Reset the activation data but I am not positive that will clear the phone number.

Ahh so simply flashing an LJ7 ROM while currently on MB1 doesn't downgrade? I've found this http://www.android.gs/downgrade-sprint-galaxy-s3-jelly-bean-stock-rom/ and it says to use ClockworkMOD recovery but im currently on TWRP. Will TWRP work or is there an easier way to execute this? I flashed an old The Peoples ROM but it still shows me being on MB1. Will flashing a firmware only zip fix this?

I've done this before to sell my Sprint S3 and can confirm that the dialer method does not work when rooted. In oder to do what you're requesting you'll need to transfer your account to another device. After doing this, the best way to clear out your info on the S3 and sell it is to
1) download the app "Get My MSL". It will most likely give you an error when tapping the "Get My MSL" option in the app at first.
2) open dialer and enter ##DATA#
3) When prompted to enter MSL code just choose any single digit number and enter it 6 times
4) once the popup message appears go immediately back into the "Get My MSL" app and select the option again and it will give you your MSL code. Make sure to save the code somewhere safe.
5) Now that you have your code, ODIN your phone back to complete 100% stock with the LJ7 stock tar file.
6) Once done, skip through the setup wizard upon first boot up and go straight into your dialer and enter ##786#
7) select "Reset" then enter MSL and hit "OK" .
8) select "OK" again on the "Reset to manufacture defaught" popup. It will reboot your phone.
9) Let it do it's thing in stock recovery and once booted up cancel the hands free activation and everything should be cleared out in "About Phone" in settings.

The build number for the firmware (aka modem/radio) is separate from the build number of the rom itself. Go into the dev section and search for a the LJ7 modem and flash that

Follow the procedure above actually to the dot. Why? because If you try doing this while being rooted I GAURANTEE you will have problems and will wind up coming back here asking for help again but this time with another issue. To save you the trouble I highly recommend following the steps above. ODIN back to complete 100% stock LJ7. I've heard of some people not having much success trying this on MB1 but I haven't tried it myself as I am no longer with Sprint but I still support the forums. The last I have tried it on was on LJ7 and I along with many others have had success on that build so LJ7 would be your best bet. Modem and build are separate but flashing a tar file through ODIN will update everything, including the modem back to LJ7. If you wanna sell the phone rooted on the latest firmware then again follow the steps and after you've gotten through the last step, make sure to be connected to wifi so you may receive the MB1 update and then FINALLY root it. It may sound like a lot to do but it's really not.. so long as you know exactly what you're doing. Following this procedure is not only your safest way in selling a phone but it's also the BEST way to fully clear your ESN! (even after deactivation) Like I said I did this and my buyer was 100% satisfied.
Good luck!

not difficult at all. You can unroot back to any of the stock firmwares that have been released on the Sprint S3. The problem is that many of the links here are broken and I'm trying to prevent you from unrooting all the way back to an ICS stock firmware requiring you to accept 1 too many OTAs. So Like I said I recommend LJ7 but I just realized I actually did wind up deleting the LJ7 file on my pc when I switched to T-Mobile. My apologies but I did manage to find one of my subscribed threads that will return you back to stock MB1 without a pc. They are flashable zips, just like flashing any ROM, and the op says the MB1 issues have been fixed. Again, I wasn't able to test this out but it's intended to do the same work as ODIN so it's worth a shot and a much easier approach. Report back with your results and good luck!

First of all, in this case don't worry about flashing any modems. Also, ##DATA# is what you'll need in the beginning to obtain your MSL. ##RTN# or ##786# is what you'll be entering at the end to return to manufacture default. To keep it simple for you, just follow the same step by step procedure I posted in the previous page BUT once you get to step 5, replace that with the MB1 post above and once done proceed to step 6 and so on. As long as you follow my instructions correctly you should have no issues.

I was wondering did you flash stock Sprint rom first? Also did you have to do the MMS fix? I am trying to flash a custom rom for my mothers new S3 but I am not really too sure about it since it is on Boost. If I wanted to flash back to stock, would I just use the stock Sprint firmware again? Did you flash 4.3 or an earlier version? I heard that the new 4.3 update has the Knox built in like the newer devices but not too sure if what I read was correct

flashing boost mobile with sprint stock rom

This is my first post. Whenever i try to flash a sprint version of any rom on my gs3 from boost my LTE doesn't work. The only way my data will work is if i switch it to CDMA which means no 4g. I even tried dialing ##72786# to reset my data connection but that didn't work either. Does anyone know of a solution to this?

That's correct. If your data doesn't work you'll have to change your APN settings since most of these ROMs are for the sprint s3 and not the boost mobile. I flash ROMs a lot and sometimes the data work so I won't have to change my APN. If you need help with that I can help

thanks very much for your reply, you are the right person ive been looking for about a month now. i have downloaded a sprint stock rom JB 4.3 from sammobile for which id be flashing to my new boost mobile s3.
the essence here is am in Ghana with this device and obviously i have to change carrier because i cant have boost service here. My phone is still fresh in box and locked for that matter (only upgraded to JB 4.3 OTA). I would just like to unlock it for NAM configuration any help? Do i realy need to flash a sprint rom first?
version (*#1234#)
AP: L710VPUBMK5
CP: L710VPUBMK5
CSC: L710SPTBMK5
PLS HELP ME UNLOCK THIS DEVICE
I really don't know how to unlock a phone but I wouldn't mess with your phone since you did the OTA update to get 4.3. You have Knox now and that's bad to have. You can mess your phone up and void your warranty if you do anything with that knox

Hi, newbie here. I bought a brand new Samsung galaxy note 2 from sprint and I jail broke it using the ordin tool kit. Well, according to root checker it was successful. but here is where I am having problems. I flashed about 3 different ROMS to it but I cannot get any mobile network on phone. There is an X over the signal strength on phone screen. When you go to settings , then status it says:Network unknown, Mobile network type unknown, Service state out of service, My phone number unknown , Mobile network state disconnected, MIN unknown, PRL unknown, MEID unknown, IMEI unknown, ICCID unknown. The internet works only via wifi. I called sprint to verify that that my services are still current and i even got the MSL # from them. Any ideas on how to solve this problem is greatly appreciated.
Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Model# SPH-L900
Android Version 4.1.2
Base band version UNKNOWN
Kernel version 3.0.36Perseus-alpha
Build number Goodness Noteworthy v1.0.6
I had the same problem. It did it for me by updating/reflashing the latest modem

You should find the latest modem versions here. Even if you had them, reinstall.
It should fix your issue

I have the same issue and have tried using the latest modem but it still happens. I also have the same issue when restoring nands from cwm and twrp. Going to try a couple of the older modems and hopefully one of them will work.
What I did I installed the modem again and the kernel. I had started a thread in which I helped myself lol. But it's either the kernel or the modem. After that I never again had an issue.
The reason I eliminated the kernel is that pretty much every ROM has its own kernel.
But then again im no expert. Just a guy who got the same problem resolved in the same device

Try the Sprint activation command. ##SCRTN# it works for me.
Stepped down to ljc modem and now my flashed cricket settings stick. No matter how I flashed mc2 modem (recovery or Odin) nothing stayed after flashing, restoring, or factory reset. Also my signal was stronger with the older modem.

I've been having an issue where I'm not receiving any phone calls, I tried this code and it didn't help. I've tried different types of codes and even called Sprint but nothing has changed. Still not receiving phone calls.
Anyone have any other dialer codes that I can try that may help? No problem sending or receiving texts, no issues making calls.
I've tried a few different roms, clean wipes, restores of nandroids, mc2 and ma7 modems. Right now, I'm on Synergy. Updated prl and profile as well.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Lets get some more info
1. You are using a sprint note 2?
2. Are you on sprint service or flashed to another?
3. What version were you on before the issue started and/or before you started flashing roms 4.1.1, 4.1.2, or 4.3?
4. Have you flashed any roms through odin?

Guys you have to do a manual provisioning of the phone. Since your phone has no valid entries you will not get a signal or be able to provision via data connection. I can't recall the hash code to get into manual provisioning but that's exactly what you have to do in this case. It's best just to call Sprint tech support and they can step you through it as well as give you the correct parameters, min, etc. Been there done that.
Handsfree sprint activation is ##72786#
Hoping this helps
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
I would have suggested Hands Free Activation but it won't work because the phone can't connect to service in its current state. Manual provisioning is the only way to get the phone back in service. Call Sprint tech support because they can give you the correct numbers and other entries that must be correct in order for the phone to connect to any service.

Hello xda community,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2307355
I flashed Truelyclean (link above), a script that removes samsung bloatware but after, my phone would not connect to my carrier's 4G network anymore. I flashed the correct stock 4.4.2 firmware for Wind Mobile from Sammobile, did a factory reset, made sure network mode was set to LTE/WCDMA/GSM but it still would not connect to 4G. It only connects to 3G and HSPA+ which is less reliable on Wind's network.
Does anybody have a fix for this?

Thanks for leading me in the right direction. I flashed some M919 and other modems and it failed, so I checked if there was any modem files in the official firmware and they were there. I thought pressing phone would only flash the modem but it ended up re-flashing the whole thing but it works now. Thank you.

Well you're problem was solved, even if it was by accident. To flash a modem you need the actual modem file or you have to extract it from the firmware. The main thing is that your up and running.
You need to do back ups before you try flashing stuff, especially old unsupported mods, so you can flash back to a running state.

honestly everything looks the same, I haven't spoken to anyone today, I spent to much time flashing and testing everything before I do my wifes phone...
but I did hear someone saying they had problems on there phone inside their house, and has better reception, I believe he had tmobile phone but att service..
I see same signal bars... same internet speed.
I haven't had the data drop out since updating 24 hours ago.... But it could still happen for sure. I thought I read that that was to be addressed by Google in Android 4.4.3.
Otherwise yeah, i cant say I see any difference in reception or data speeds.
I've flashed it and to be honest you really don't notice a difference beside the the new stuff that people are talking about. One thing I've notice that I'm starting to pick up more lte in areas I didn't get it.

Could someone kindly point me in the direction where I can find the N900TUVUDNE6 modem.I prefer that it be flashable via TWRP recovery. Long story short, I flashed the new update twice in two different ROMs, but I'm stuck on the old modem. Thanks in advance.

You need to read. If the baseband doesn't update, you need to run triangle away, even if it says 0, then reflash the modem via odin.

There is a thread around here somewhere with just modem, do triangle away first and also be on a stock kernel or it may not stick.
Can anyone confirm that we can run the latest bootloader and modem with AOSP roms?
Sorry to ask in this thread also, but my thread isn't getting any replies...
