Not many people will help with that issue. Apparently it has been explored. If you root/unroot the tab SM-t217S, some fail to be able to connect to networks afterwards.
I haven't tried to unroot my tab but all my other sprint devices need a profile update to connect again after a new ROM.

ok i need help im going crazy i have a galaxy s3 at&t i unlocked it to work on different networks i have simple mobile now everything was working great unlocked but not rooted on stock rom then i decided to root it using odin 1.85v i did everything right it rooted my phone and then it said that it could connect to network so i said i probably need to flash a rom so i installed cm10 4.1.2 and now its not letting me call it says emergency calls only wifi everything else works wtf please help
You may need to enter your network information. Your rom may not be set up to enter that information automatically. Check your apn settings and make sure they are right for your network.

Flash a stock ROM back on it.

And use Odin 3.07(the one we should be using), not 1.85.
Also, check to see if your imei number is correct (open a dialer, *#06#)
I have an unlocked AT&T Galaxy S3 but my new carrier is T-Mobile. My question is, is it safe to try and update the phone's software through the phone settings "Software Update"? This because the android version on the phone is 4.0.4 and I'll like to update it to a jellybeans. Any advises?
NB: The phone has been previously rooted.
you can make in recovery a full backup in case it will not be good, but I want to say let's go! F*ck a duck and try to fly!
Give it a shot, the worst it will do is tell you your phone is not supported. It won't flash a T-Mobile image or anything.

You can do that or VIA KIES and it will update to the latest 4.1.1 from ATT. If the phone is unlocked it will not re-lock. You will just have to disable the ATT and Samsung bloatware.

If you do not want a rooted device, I highly suggest Kies as mentioned already just to be sure. However, if you are comfortable with being rooted, you can always ODIN the rooted AT&T Jellybean rom (do not odin T-Mobile). Your phone will remained unlocked.
Personally I'm running the 1700 mod on T-Mobile with cm10. It was a bit to set up, seeing I'm not using the nv backup way but it was well worth it. I have 3g in areas that were not refarmed yet and the phone is faster than hell. I would highly recommend this way and if you need help getting it working just ask.
Were you let out of your contract early too?

I tried updating from AT&T server but it didn't work. I got a server's connection error. As suggested here, I also tried Kies but for some reason it doesn't recognize the phone. I tried it on windows, MacOX but nothing. I'm somehow new to this so I'm kind of scare to do it manually, but I think that's the only option left

The server connection error is not surprising since you are not on AT&T. As far as Kies is concerned, this is most likely a driver issue. Fix the driver and you should be good to go. What version of windows did you use?
I'm using Windows XP and I downloaded, unistalled, redownloaded new drivers but when I plug in the phone it still says connecting endlessly. I have being struggling with Kies for almost 4 days now but it still doesn't recognize the phone. I think the last solution is to do it manually. I'll give it a try this week end.

How did you flash the firmware? Using ODIN or recovery?
Do you have a nandroid backup? If yes, restore that backup & see where you go.
Ravi.
I'm helping my mom with her phone. She recently lost data connection. She called her provider and they said everything is working on her end.
So now I'm trying to help her.
She is on stock rom and running 4.4.2
There's no apn under her mobile networks! How can she find it?
Thanks for your help!
You could try to Odin the latest stock ROM if you have a PC available- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3007847
I live in the UK and want to manually update to Lollipop as I have no idea when we will receive the update from Samsung. i have downloaded the french zip as I think there are no issues using this as the SM-T800 is Wifi only. I am trying to use Jodin3.casual but when I plug in the tab it does not connect. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong? For info I am not rooted.

You need to install the Samsung usb drivers first then boot into download mode.
Thanks for the response. Where do you get those from as I have been to Samsungs site and can only see the drivers for windows
