[Q] tab pro 8.4 touchscreen sensitivity - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

My wife has severe arthritis in her hands and loves to play Words with Friends. She really likes the tab pro but has some problems with the super sensitivity of the touch screen. Is it possible to lower the sensitivity on this unit? Thanks

The "NAI" firmware has very very sensitive touchscreen. That's fixed in ND3 and NG1 and any later firmwares. So I'd say check your firmware first.

Touchscreen not as sensitive as SAmoled ?

Hello dear XDA Users ,
Since Yesterday I switched from an Galaxy S to an HTC Desire HD (YAY 4.3 Inch )
I just love this Phone but one thing is making me crazy and I hope you guys can make me calm down:
The Touchscreen is not as Responsive as the SuperAmoled from my old Samsung. This means that when I was trying to use least pressure to move from 1 Homescreen to the other with my Galaxy S it was working. I tried the same thing with my Desire and it has no / less reaction than my Galaxy. I hope I could explain nicely what makes me Mad.
Thanks in Advance for the Replys
PS: This is just my old school English, hope you guys forgive me
PS 2: Maybe it sounds fussy for you Guys but this Phone was expensive and I just want to make Sure that I did an upgrade from Galaxy to Desire HD
They use different digitisers. The one from the Galaxy S is probably more sensitive.

That's right. It's not a problem, like the SGS is better or something. It's just different. Some people, including me,are more annoyed by an oversensitive screen.I for one am ok!
Compared to my Omnia, the DHD is hyper sensitive!
Yeah I agree, sometimes I do not even have to physically touch the screen, and it registers a touch. If Samsung is MORE sensitive, I do not even want to try it
I've used both the DHD and SGS and found them to be equal in sensitivity. That could just be me.

I think dhd is too sensitive. I'd like it has the possibility to decrease the sensibility of the touch... it works without any touch
Anyway welcome on board! This is one of the most interesting and powerful phone on the market.
to be honest it is the best phone ever. and you will get on to use it

Note 2 touch screen is not working ??!!

Note 2 touch screen is not working? - My samsung note 2 finger touchscreen is not working while my s pen is still working I have reset it but nothing changed. No touch response yaaaaaaaaa :crying:
Factory reset. .if still no response. ..flash back stock rom
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
The same Problem after Falsh back in Stock Rom
I am also having this issue. screen does not respond whatsoever to finger or regular stylus input. Only the s-pen works. I too have un-rooted to see if was a software issue, and also in anticipation if I'm going to have to take a trip to the Sprint Store. Anyone out there who knows about a non responsive touch screen on our Note 2?
Michel
I have the totally opposite issue, touch system works fine but the s-pen is messed up. It probably means the s-pen and touch system works on different technologies not just one digitizer.

I am assuming that the the Note 2 has an elecotromagnetic digitizer in addition to the normal capacitive one?
Well, I just came back from the Sprint Store, and they decided to order me a replacement. Woo hoo!
im having same problem...

[Q] Does installing custom ROM fix screen sensitivity on tab pro 8.4?

I haven't seen a post about this from searching. Was curious if installing CM or slim (preferred as I've been using on SGS3 for a while) would fix the screen sensitivity issue on my tab pro 8.4 running stock. I'm hesitant to upgrade to ND3 after hearing about reboots but would like to resolve this sensitivity issue ASAP.
I'm on ND3 and haven't had 1 reboot. My screen sensitivity is also fine. No phantom touches or double letters. I have a UK model.

I have a Canadian model. Did your tablet come with ND3 on it or did you upgrade recently? If you upgraded, were there problems with the previous version? I'm curious if the screen sensitivity issue is region specific with respect to different builds or more likely, slightly different firmwares from different regions. Samsung canada has not released an ND3 build yet. I'm still on NA1.

I upgraded to ND3 on the day of purchase so didn't really test it with the previous version. I then performed a factory reset. I don't usually perform a factory reset after an upgrade, but I hadn't customised it, so wasn't any hassle.

[Q] Note 10.0 2014 Visible Digitizer Matrix

Hello everyone. I have been reading forums on this website for a long time and I must say there is tons of useful information over here. So thought I should become a member too.
Recently I Bought Note 10.1 2014 Edition LTE version. I was expecting it to be much better that its really is. The display is nice but there is lag on this Tablet. It stutters during web browsing. I have a note 3 also which is much smoother although it has 1.9 Ghz Exynos processor as compared to 2.3 Ghz on this tablet. Anyways I have read on net that may be its because it has double the amount of pixels on display as compared to note 3 therefore it has some amount of lag.
Ok my main question to you guys who already own this tablet. In reflection of light I can see the Digitizer Matrix all along the display. its a bit annoying looks like faint sctraches on the screen. I have used many android devices but never experienced anything like it before. while looking as it directly with no light reflection it is not visible at all but even in faintest light reflection is starts to become visible even with the display on
So is it normal or a defect?
Help would be highly appreciated.

Have you used a device with an inductive display before? It puts out an electromagnetic signal which detects the presence of the pen. That's why the display looks different. I've been using mine since November and have never noticed the grid in everyday use. As for lag it pretty much went away with the 4.4 update. If you're already on 4.4 and the display grid is going to bother you return the device while you still can.

The visible matrix does not bother me too much when in use. The display is still beautiful.
I am still on 4.3 coz 4.4 is not available in my region yet. Lets hope once the update is made available in my region, lag will reduce.
The gaming performance however, is better than on note 3.

4.4 is rolling out painfully slow. What region are you in and what model number N10.1-14 do you have? Chances are you can safely download and install a compatible region's ROM without changing the status of your device or tripping KNOX.

You can download the HK 4.4 ROM here.
http://samsung-updates.com/details/30043/Galaxy_Note_10.1_2014_LTE/SM-P605/TGY/P605ZSUCNF1.html
Many people on the forum are using ROMs from other (but compatible) regions because 4.4 hasn't been rolled out to their specific region yet. I'm using a Panamanian ROM on a SM-P601 from Trinidad. They work fine. There can be some oddity (I still have lock screen widgets which I shouldn't and don't have Daynote when I should) but everything else works as designed.
If you've never installed a non-standard ROM on your device do a Google search on "Odin." It'll link you to s/w you need to download and provide you with instructions. I can answer any questions you might have. There's little risk and it doesn't affect your device's status (it stays "official") or KNOX. For me, 4.4 was like getting a new tablet.
Yes I am sure 4.4 solves many issues. I will try the above instructions today. thanks a lot and best regards.

Hi due to political instability in my country, my office is off nowadays and I finally got some time to update my software.
I installed P605XXUCNF2 version which is from NEE region. At first I was not sure but then the lag and stutter in my tablet forced me to go for it.
Downloaded from this link

Like you said Barry its literally like having a new tablet. The lag is gone and overall it has become really smooth.
Thank you for your advice without which I would never have found the solution.
God bless you bro.

i just thought i'd pitch in, theres a setting in chrome you can change to eliminate that lag - it just doesnt allocate enough ram for the resolution its rendered at by default.
Wow another thread about lag..I have had this tab since Dec 2013 ..Never had lag, no issues ever... I have a life, so I don't sit and stare at the tablet all day and pick at it. It's Android . And Sammy it will have some issues...There are quick easy fixes for the mysterious lag people are complaining about. This is the best tab out for this year..The Tab S is the same tab minus the pen..it only has a better screen ..but that could be debated as well.

The amoled display will considerably increase battery life and will have better contrast. Its a huge improvement.
Other specs of tab s is same as note 10.1 as far as I know.

Oneplus3 touch latency is too bad..

anyone noticed very high touch latency on this device.. exp. when you moving your finger across display, its always couple mm behind it.. I was on many android/iphone devices before op and this is the worst latency I experianced.. The phone is good in all other points, but in this is very anoying.. Is there any software/kernel way to improve it somehow?

Could you give an example or a specific app where you face the input latency? Do you use a modified rom? In my case there is no lag at all. Accuracy and input speed are great

there is no lag, there is touch latency..
when you move your finger, its not instant, exp, try fast moving notification panel, and u will notice that panel is behind your finger. Maybe its not bother you, but if you try nexus device or iphone, you will see dramatic difference. I notice that @arter97 talks about it on twitter too.. I tried his kerenl and all coustom/stock/6.0/7.1 roms, but there is always high delay/latency persistent..
I tried my gf nexus5 and its way better.. and I read on web there is 75ms touch latency on nexus5, so i think there must be 100-120ms latency on oneplus3.. thats shame for flagship killer..
video example about what touch latency is.

Now I know what you're talking about BUT does 100ms instead of 75ms mean that the usability of the phone is limited in any way? Do you have a concrete example of a app or feature that you can't use due to the latency?

no there is no that way of limitation because of 25-50ms latency. But there is worse user experiance then in some 3 yrs old devices..
Same here...

I thought i was the only one that noticed it. I can give some example: Try True Skate, it's a paid gaming app, but it's fun to play sometimes. I have also a galaxy tab S 8.4 which has a lot better latency without any doubt.
so there is any way to improve this via software? or it is a hardware limitation?
In my opinion this is just the way how OxygenOS is designed. Try CM 14, it definetelly is created to has no touch latency.

No its not nougat. Dont write s***.
Its about firmware not software. Google improved software in 7.1 with reduced touch input lag, but thats not problem wit op3.
And about nougat, I tried all roms, from 6.0 to 7.1 and its all the same in high touch latency.
if i were you, i'd use at least assistive touch as a test approach. instead of pulling up/down notification area. which introduces quite a lot possible overhead. like animation, event processing, gpu etc.
generally speaking, the OS certainly if not solely affects what you call 'touch latency' ( 'touch latency based on visual feedback' i would say). it's almost definitely not a firmware issue.
btw. you might have already heard of the infamous audio latency issue with android. as a matter of fact, it's almost a linux issue. due to the kernel and system design.
PS: oh wait. i will give you the best test case. just activate dev menu, choose to display currrent touch position on video overlay. see how everything works.

So what's the value of this touch latency on this device in comparison with other phones? Any technical figure?
It's at about ~95ms. In comparison iPhone 6s is at about ~25ms and HTC M8 is at 46ms. That's what I read while googling the subject.

It's for OP3T but it's already been ported to OP3 and there's no difference.
It's on now: Ubergizmo, App apes, Android Headlines, Mobiles365, Android Authority, Softpedia
