I bought a rooted AT&T Note 8 a while ago to use on a T-Mobile tablet plan. When I used my phone's sim to unlock it it showed LTE but hasn't since. I've checked the apn settings, restarted it, removed and reinserted the sim- nothing. I've also experienced occasional data drops (but very few total service drops). I've used unlocked AT&T Note 1's in the same area in the past with no problems.
I thought it might be the sim so I went to a T-Mobile store. We put a new sim in, saw LTE, and then restarted it when they added the new sim to my account. Same problem. Two different reps confirmed the LTE apn was correct. Speed tests are definitely showing hspa. I don't mind not having jet fighter speeds but the terrible latency and data drops are frustrating.
I'm also seeing occasional freezes while, and only while, scrolling. Tapping the home button takes it to home immediately. Everything else is fast and smooth.
i467 rooted, unlocked, on a T-Mobile tablet plan, a few xposed modules, some little things frozen with titanium, but otherwise stock 4.1.2.
I manually reset the battery a week ago (7+ hours of screen time on 4g since!) and, except for the above, everything has been great. Any ideas?
Well, here's one answer...

I picked up an unlocked att galaxy note 2 to replace a broken phone. I use straight talk (att) as my service provider. I had to change my sim cards from a regular to a mini for the note. It took a couple minutes and my service was great. I tested the speeds and they were decent. I was able to send/receive mms,sms and phone calls. It was great all day. Later that evening, I went to the movies. They must have a cell blocker or something because it killed my service (same thing happened to me the week before with my old working phone). I had to go into airplane mode and back out to get service back. It was kind of weak after that. This morning I woke up with no cell or data service. I would look at the bars go up to full 4g then drop to 1 bar at edge and then lose all service. Just random spikes that happened all day. I tried various apn setting w/ no difference. I rooted my phone with cleanroom. I had solid 2-4 bars for a few hours. Then again, I started to lose service. I tried my fiancee's T-mobile pay as you go card and same thing. little to no bars of edge or nothing at all. I did the hack to enable aws, the Tmobile card had a solid 4 bars of cell but no data. I put my straight talk sim back in and I seem to be holding 3+ bars of 4g with decent speeds but The trend has been to wait til I get my hopes up then crush them with 0 service. I have looked into the interwebs, but haven't seen anything with a problem quite like this. I'm wondering if I just got a bum phone or if my mini sim is poop. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Going through more settings, I'm getting "Network Not Found" under the status list in About phone. Pretty much anything that has to do with a carrier isn't there. I then went under mobile network settings and looked at "Network Operators". It was set to automatic so I clicked manual. The only option was AT&T. The phone is supposed to be unlocked. I then clicked back to automatic and it's not able to find my provider info.
I was recently on Tmobile and decided to switch back to NET10 for ATT's network. I was using an unlocked Lumia 520 when I first switched over so I used the micro-sim. I use an adapter obviously for my GNexus and my Rugby Smart. Well, when I switched it into my Gnexus, it would get signal, and then cut out. The phone still read as having a sim card in it, but no network anything. I tried it in all phones - same thing and eventually the phones wouldn't even connect to the network for a few seconds.
So, I activated the mini-sim in the kit (it has 3 - 2 att and 1 tmo). It works fine in both Samsung phones (I didn't cut it yet to put in the Lumia). The problem I seem to have now is the phones both lose connection to the google services at some point - the little blue color cuts out (and whatever it is on the Rugby). I still have data, the Gnexus shows the H and if I open the phone and use an app - it'll update or whatever. Sometimes I get connected to the google services right then, other times no. I reset the Gnexus a few days ago and the Rugby was about 2 weeks ago I reset it.
My battery dies like a mofo now though on either phone and I know that Tmobile always kicked down to UMTS to save battery and ATT mostly doesn't as evidenced by the H always - can this be the huge battery drainer? Could it be the NET10 mini-sim is also bad? I know the Gnexus and many samsung phones have 'eh' battery, but it wasn't like this on Tmo.
I'm on stock - no roms or anything. I get good, strong ATT signal (about 90dBm) at work and home. Anyway, thank you all.
I looked everywhere and cannot even come up a guess to my issue. I have an unlocked T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2, but switched carriers to AT&T and now having weird issues with the phone. I changed the APN settings, but I still get network drops during phone calls and syncing issues with phone numbers.
The phone will randomly drop a call and not be able to call back for about 5 minutes. I am not a noob and I can usually troubleshoot my own issues. Oh yeah, the phone was working fine on T-Mobile and only started the issues when I put a fresh AT&T sim card in it. It doesn't happen all the time either. I could go a week no problem, then three or four days with issues.
Any suggestions on what I should do?
Thanks a ton

I have two TMobile Note 2s that work just fine on ATT. No dropped calls and data works fine. LTE reception seems a little lacking but other than that it's fine.
Try a new SIM.
How long have you been on AT&T? Post paid or a MVNO?

It's actually my sister who has the phone now. I was using it on T-mobile with no issues. I gave it to her, then it started having these problems. Goes to and she gets a brand new at&t sim, still doesn't fix the issues.
I have a note 4 from att running 6.0.1. Recently the Internet (mobile not WiFi) would start cutting out and completely losing service for no reason every 5 minutes or so. Very agitating if I'm trying to watch a video or do anything on the internet, really. Anyways, I am using Cricket Wireless, which is a subsidiary of ATT. I tried out an ATT sim card as well and the issue is still present. I factory reset my phone and it's still doing it. However, if I ender the developers code into the dialer and brought up mobile network information, I could set the phone to use GSM/CDMA only (no LTE) and the issue went away completely. But now, I have much slower speeds than if I were to be using LTE which kinda sucks. Does anyone know a way to fix this?
So I upgraded from my damaged 6x to a new 7x I purchased on Amazon. I've had the phone for 1 day now and am having strange issues with my 4G LTE not working, essentially timing out. It happens almost a third of the time while using data. The rest of the time I have no issues and am getting fast speeds. My MVNO is Simple Mobile on the $50 Unlimited plan.
I've checked my APN, taken the SIM In/Out even called 611 to which they could not find a problem. Do I need to return the phone or does anyone have some advice. Also have tried different locations to see if it was just a tower to no avail.
