What sort of battery life are you getting? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm a bit disappointed with the G3 battery life. With no activity I'm losing about 10% per hour.
I have 16gb D855 and am on 10g EUR.
Think 10g might be the issue....can anyone confirm this please?
How are you all faring with battery life?
Thanks.

If you're losing 10% per hour you need to check your apps.
Something is milking it. I am also on 10G firmware, and I'm getting around two days with moderate to heavy use.

The GWatch shouldn't be sucking up excessive battery life unless you're using it flat out. Even then I think it should only use up a couple of % per hour.
Process of elimination, go through some apps you have recently installed and check their use. It could also be google play services that is eating up battery. Go to battery in settings and check what's using up the most processes and go from there.

I agree but I can't see any phone apps that look likely from battery stats.
I'm wondering if a G Watch app might be the culprit, so I'm going to try and eliminate those firstly.
Thanks.

How is it nonsense? If you have ever read any of my posts you'll know I don't care about SOT, I actually use my phone for what it is for... Phone calls and texts.
Yes I use the internet on it and social media, but because YOU cannot get this, does not mean it's "nonsense" so little troll, crawl back into your cave and come back when you have something productive to say. That's the problem with XDA lately, full of idiotic posters and members like yourself.

Got to agree with the first poster that 2 days with moderate to heavy use is easily achievable. Screenshots below are with heavy use.
Gotta say though that you are probably seeing different results because of your individual phones. This is my second G3. The first was a dog which luckily I had replaced. They were like chalk and cheese in terms of battery use.
Just waiting for boot loader unlock then I'll root and start optimizing it a bit. At a rough guess I should be able to improve these stats by about 25%.

I have less than 1/2% usage per hour when nothing is going on (ie no screen time) and I'm on wi-fi. 10% is WAY TOO HIGH. There is definitely something going on if you are losing that much while the phone is idle.

I got my phone from Amazon two weeks ago but that doesn't really tell me if it's part of some early 'bad batch' or not.
Does anYone know how you can tell the date of manufacture?
I'm getting better life with the G WAtch off and also wondering if the knock code consumes battery life.
I'm using the GSam battery monitor but the main bulk of usage is by the android system and not any of the apps.
Any more suggestions very welcome.
Thanks.

My battery life on my F460S is much worse than my D850. I think this is because of the phone note being optimized for US networks. I'm waiting for the BL unlock so I can flash a ROM that may fix the issue. My D850 would average 5hrs SOT , but my F460S averages about 3hrs SOT. I'll upload some screens shots a little bit when I get home from classes.

could you show us your actual screen on time and awake time? This first screenshot doesn't show us enough information.
Theres obviously a problem but we need to see some more info.
What is your screen on time like the previous poster asked?
If you're getting like 3 hours screen on time then you won't see much improvement from any rom or kernel...

2 hours screen on time is okay. If you hadn't rebooted four times you could have got three.
In my experience 2 hours of screen time is terrible, even with 100% brightness.
I use AOKP rom and Lean kernel tho.
With 100% brightness on all the time I'd expect at least 3 hours but I never leave it maxed out all the time, so I always get at least 4 hours screen time along with 24+ total.
Is your phone new? That could be the problem, the first three days. my battery life was maybe 5 hours at best.

It makes it a small amount (1mm or so) thicker. The cell is 14% larger mAh wise. So the battery life doesn't increase dramatically.

Here is what I got from the extension battery that was supposed to give me five hours extra. I'm normally impatient and don't have time to charge my phone when I get a new one so I drained it and gave it a full charge. (I know its li ion).
This was on 4G and did wat I normally would do. This is my second day with the phone. So I haven't had the chance to try this battery only on 3G yet and unfortunately I won't get a chance to try these fairly new battery's on the 4G network again.
But here is a screen shot of my extended battery on the 4G network. Not happy. I didnt even come close to five hours let alone what she promised.

So I guess I didn't give you enough information in my first post.
First go to the Better Battery Stats thread, found here: -----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809&nocache=1
Then go to the bottom of the 2nd post and download & install the free 1.12RC7 XDA version of Better Battery Stats. {or whatever the current version is.}
Then read through the thread to learn what you need to know about troubleshooting your battery use.
If it all works out, you should be able to find what is using your battery so fast.
Then, go to the link at the beginning of the 2nd post and buy the paid version of Better Battery Stats.

Your battery doesn't seem defective, but definitely something is going on in the background. That's the kind of battery life I get after flashing a new rom or kernel before it settles in and I get some charge cycles in. Most defective batteries last very little time it's rare they still get over 6 hrs. Troubleshoot your battery first and if that fails get a replacement battery.

Yeah I have the 32 GB SanDisk Ultra 1, I have all my music on it and play it, if I copy my music to internal memory and play it from there, will that work?, cause I can't afford to get a new sd anytime soon. Also, how do I trouble shoot my battery? I also read that media server is a major bug in android. I read that all I have to do is force stop media storage after I'm done playing music or a game because it keeps running in the background is this a solution?

I got my tone infinums the other day and I wanted to unlock some potential so I installed viper sound mod. It works great and they sound great, but I noticed my phone started getting warm and battery started going faster even when not doing anything. I went to the viper settings app and turned it off. I stsrted noticing better battery and my phone stayed cool. I now only turn it on if I'm listening to music or whatever.. I have no more issues now and wanted to see if maybe others might be experiencing these problems and give them a possible reason as to why..
Battery has improved
Great, what is it now?
Mine has gone down since the first day but is still pretty good. Right now I have just over 5 hours screen time and about 15% left.
A couple days ago though it seemed like the battery would last forever.
I'm going to run it low tonight though for a full charge. I'm going to run it down to about 5%.

And of course if you play games you will kill the battery quicker.

[Q] Improved battery life after the new update ?

Hello guys
Did anyone notice a hugeeeee improvement in battery life after the latest update ?
What update? No update for my phone.

i dont think i've gotten 1 update for this phone since I purchased it, Spring Unrooted ZV4
I got the update on sunday.. Really my battery now lasts a whole day. From 7:30 that i removed from charger now it's. 4:52 pm and i have 60% ( on wifi all day)
What variant do you have? That's another thing that is weird to me, I haven't gotten one pushed OTA update for this phone in 2 months since I've had it. I get extreme battery drain, lots of lag everywhere, random shut downs, lag to reboots, onscreen lag typing on forums, this phone is a mess.
I would love an update, I might even jump to the note4 promo which ends tomorrow just to get rid of this POS. I'll be heading to sprint store afterwork to asses my options.
I have the international model LG-D855. My only complaint was about battery life. Now i don't have any complaints.

Was on 10g and updated to 10L 3 days ago. Before I had a wake time of 4-7%, now my wake time was rarely under 15%. Most of the time I hover around 20-25%. Battery lasts roughly 15h, screen on time is 3.5h max.
Total desaster...no idea why. Sensors seem to go crazy all the time and keep the devices awake.
D855.
Could I please get a link to the update? I'm not able to find it anywhere.
I've only had my G3 a day but I was impressed with the battery life after reading it had poor battery life.
11 hours on, 1:25 SOT and still at 75%. This is completely stock as I haven't had chance to root it yet.
11 hours on ?? With what usage ? For sure your internet plan and wifi is off

Not 11 hours screen on, just my phone on for 11 hours with 1:25 screen on.
Now my battery is lasting the whole day!
Screen on time 3:31 minutes

SoT 3 hours during an 80 hour without charging session. Happy :good:
I see a significant improvement of battery life on L firmware too.

Battery

10+ battery drains at least as fast as my Note.

Same. Literally sitting here wondering why.

Yup. Same here. I had high hopes for it outlasting the Note 9. Still hoping it will settle.
But typically on my Note 9, one hour of screen time equalled 10% of battery usage. With the Note 10+ one hour of screen time uses about 15% of battery.
I hope it settles a bit and maybe upcoming updates will help.
I've lost 10% battery since I posted 50 mins ago. Though screen was on all of it pretty much.

Ok, mine isn't that bad. That sounds like a rogue app in the background.

Could be carried over from the note 9. Going to find an app to help me discover it

Today has been my best day, so there's hope it's getting better. But I still think my Note 9 was a bit better.
I've been updating, installing and testing a lot of apps, so my phone runs about 10% down for each hour of on screen time, but there are few postings about disabling some programs that you don't use, that made difference in battery use. For example I don't even have facebook account and facebook was hapily running 2 or 3 services in the background (collecting data maybe), until I disabled it. So debloating should be part of your phone setup, like it or not.
Phenomenal battery on firs day. Note 10+ exynos. 1/2 day 4g.

Im wondering if anyone else has such high Android system usage? My setup is the same on Note 9 and it is usually at 37% whereas I cannot get Note 10 below 50% Sorry meant my battery consumption.View attachment 4813065

How do you guys disable Bixby voice?
What other apps do you disable?
My battery is pretty crappy for such a large battery
I use Package Disabler Pro. Based on Gsam battery monitor my battery consumption on average sits at 60%. I have same set up same apps on my Note 9 and consumption is at 27%. I have roughly 30 apps total installed so yeah the new update has been horrible for me..again I know each person uses their device different. I have no social media..no pandora or anything like that but yet my device is held awake for like 2.5 hrs

Not a scam when you get the pro version free? and it still works with adb command.
My apologies but there is already an existing thread for battery life discussion here:
