Was your gps, wifi, bluetooth or any wireless connection on and for how long? Are you in a good coverage area? Where do you usually use your phone.? These are the questions you have to ask yourself before you say your battery is poor. 1 or more of these could easily deplete yours or any battery.

So I guess I didn't give you enough information in my first post.
First go to the Better Battery Stats thread, found here: -----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809&nocache=1
Then go to the bottom of the 2nd post and download & install the free 1.12RC7 XDA version of Better Battery Stats. {or whatever the current version is.}
Then read through the thread to learn what you need to know about troubleshooting your battery use.
If it all works out, you should be able to find what is using your battery so fast.
Then, go to the link at the beginning of the 2nd post and buy the paid version of Better Battery Stats.
....get it? It's free?

Your battery doesn't seem defective, but definitely something is going on in the background. That's the kind of battery life I get after flashing a new rom or kernel before it settles in and I get some charge cycles in. Most defective batteries last very little time it's rare they still get over 6 hrs. Troubleshoot your battery first and if that fails get a replacement battery.

I noticed that media services is showing it's using a lot of battery and that's a sign of external sd card problems. This is widely documented, by chance are you using a SanDisk card? I experienced this and it was killing my battery, I swapped it out with a Samsung card and everything returned to normal. No more battery drain.

Yeah I have the 32 GB SanDisk Ultra 1, I have all my music on it and play it, if I copy my music to internal memory and play it from there, will that work?, cause I can't afford to get a new sd anytime soon. Also, how do I trouble shoot my battery? I also read that media server is a major bug in android. I read that all I have to do is force stop media storage after I'm done playing music or a game because it keeps running in the background is this a solution?

To be honest I'm not sure about the force stop media services. I just know that when out of nowhere my battery started draining quickly and media services was keeping the phone from sleeping, I was getting the sd card suddenly removed messages. Swapping it out solved my battery issue.

could you show us your actual screen on time and awake time? This first screenshot doesn't show us enough information.
Theres obviously a problem but we need to see some more info.
What is your screen on time like the previous poster asked?
If you're getting like 3 hours screen on time then you won't see much improvement from any rom or kernel...

2 hours screen on time is okay. If you hadn't rebooted four times you could have got three.
In my experience 2 hours of screen time is terrible, even with 100% brightness.
I use AOKP rom and Lean kernel tho.
With 100% brightness on all the time I'd expect at least 3 hours but I never leave it maxed out all the time, so I always get at least 4 hours screen time along with 24+ total.
Is your phone new? That could be the problem, the first three days. my battery life was maybe 5 hours at best.

It makes it a small amount (1mm or so) thicker. The cell is 14% larger mAh wise. So the battery life doesn't increase dramatically.

Here is what I got from the extension battery that was supposed to give me five hours extra. I'm normally impatient and don't have time to charge my phone when I get a new one so I drained it and gave it a full charge. (I know its li ion).
This was on 4G and did wat I normally would do. This is my second day with the phone. So I haven't had the chance to try this battery only on 3G yet and unfortunately I won't get a chance to try these fairly new battery's on the 4G network again.
But here is a screen shot of my extended battery on the 4G network. Not happy. I didnt even come close to five hours let alone what she promised.

Here are some screen shots, tests were done with nothing sycning and screen off for 10 minutes, I even checked to see if any app was set to " sync on wifi only" . Now when wifi is on, it seems to sleep less and use more cpu until the " turn wifi off when screen off" kicks in. So if you are using your phone off and on before wifi turns off, you will kill your battery much faster.
Edit, these pics are from FC24 ICS leak, Im on CM9a3 FD16 kernel FD19 modem atm and same applies for this setup.

no, if anything, the radio will cost more battery because it's constantly looking for signal.
Live in a low signal area like I do and turn off wifi in the house, see what happens.

I think you guys are wrong, even when wifi is on the phone is connected (or searching for a signal). What this test is saying, is if you arnt using your phone (pulling data from 3g (having nothing to do with your signal)) you should have better battery then when wifi is on and you arnt pulling data.
example here, full wifi signal, but no cell signal, and Ill lose battery faster at this point, then say if I had full wifi and full cell signal. So what Im saying is no matter what your signal is like, when the phone is sleeping and you have wifi on, it will stay awake (wake lock) which will use more battery, period. As you can see when on 3g it sleeps most of the time. Ive done the test in low signal and good signal areas, and every time when 3g is on and sleeping it uses less battery.

Good, thorough testing.
What I see here in simple terms:
Wifi on while actively using data(screen off/on and sync, or active usage) is going to be better on battery versus 3g/4g.
Wifi on while NOT actively using data, is causing some sort of wakelock which is not allowing the device to sleep properly. Thus reducing battery life, because its trying to do something, and not succeeding
Solution: If you are going to be using the device more than leaving it idle, use wifi. If you are the "I check every few minutes for texts and that's it" or "I use xda app or twitter every few minutes, but otherwise screen is off" kind of person, then use 3g.
If you can, turn off all data connections when not actively using data. This depends on if you let your phone sync or not though.

I agree. Every time wifi is on, the battery usage is much lower than when using a 3g/4g radio.
I think every single wifi vs. cellular radio comment to this point in my 4 years of using smartphones was in favor of wifi. Without exception.
Seeing this thread makes me wonder if the OP was drunk.
OK, I made sense of this..OP was using CM9 which does use more battery while idle on wifi supposedly. I am not sure if that's been fixed because I haven't flashed CM9 on this phone yet.

Don't be so rash and I believe this applies to cm9 unless that screen shot that John uploaded is cm9 which I doubt. I noticed myself that leaving wifi on will stop my phone from going to deep sleep also. This issue seems to be more ROM specific and not the usual general practice.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
I've been using cm9 a2 for about a month or so, and it's been nearly perfect for me.
I can report that the standby power consumption without a doubt has been no different from gb roms. That is to say about 1% battery per hour of standby on wifi or 3g (with full bars; much more drain with less bars.)

Very true. Before my girlfriend, who lives in the sticks, got an Airave, I would lose 5-7% PER HOUR while idle on 3G. If I wanted my phone to last (almost the whole day) off the charger I would have to put it in airplane mode when not in use.
I would say if you have excellent 3G reception it wouldn't be much of a difference either way.
I have an airave in my apartment and still get better battery when on wifi.

Either way I dont think you can go wrong with either the Nexus, Evo 4G LTE, or S3. I just want a strong radio and decent battery life. Any of these phones including the E4GT has enough processing power to accommodate my needs. I dont understand why people are so spec happy when they arent even going to be using the phone to its fullest potential most likely. Just wastes battery IMO

Turn on Wifi and turn it off, then reboot, after it settles turn it on again, connect to a Wifi and then turn it off... That's what I did, I live in a 4g area and it is faster than my dsl Wifi so I don't use it at all but after doing this the issue went away...

I'm on lorjay's 4.3 TW rom, which one are you using? I'm on the latest release and don't have that issue anymore, my only suggestion would be to reflash the MC2 with counter reset and then lorjays rom then odin the wifi fix again, I know it is a pita to do it but since I haven't seen anybody else with our issue that will be the last resource... the only issue I keep carrying is the mdm_hsic_pm0 wakelock... the only thread about it is here and I have tried all the suggestions... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2009956
Well I'm complete stock 4.3 unrooted. I got an upgrade on January 1st so I took the update Ave an staying unrooted for the time being

Can you check under Wi-Fi advanced settings and see if your device has always allow scanning checked. I'm assuming that's what your problem is. If it is that you will experience a huge increase in battery life. I had that option on when I first updated like oooh that sounds interesting. Thing was draining battery like no tomorrow and kept the blue bar solid just like on your screenshot.

No problem. I don't know why Google added that option, it sounds interesting but it's crap! What they don't tell you is how batt hungry it is and instead says in the description it saves battery. Idk maybe there's a glitch since it's new.. I was just setting up an HTC One I upgraded my aunt to and they throw that option at you soon as you start a phones set up process. I'm sure many are checking it off thinking it's better than using the GPS and mobile location option. It really isn't, although wifi is off from settings n notification toggles it's still actually on in a sneaky way. Only way to tell it's running 24/7 is through that blue bar or from BBS.

I'm a bit disappointed with the G3 battery life. With no activity I'm losing about 10% per hour.
I have 16gb D855 and am on 10g EUR.
Think 10g might be the issue....can anyone confirm this please?
How are you all faring with battery life?
Thanks.

If you're losing 10% per hour you need to check your apps.
Something is milking it. I am also on 10G firmware, and I'm getting around two days with moderate to heavy use.

The GWatch shouldn't be sucking up excessive battery life unless you're using it flat out. Even then I think it should only use up a couple of % per hour.
Process of elimination, go through some apps you have recently installed and check their use. It could also be google play services that is eating up battery. Go to battery in settings and check what's using up the most processes and go from there.

I agree but I can't see any phone apps that look likely from battery stats.
I'm wondering if a G Watch app might be the culprit, so I'm going to try and eliminate those firstly.
Thanks.

How is it nonsense? If you have ever read any of my posts you'll know I don't care about SOT, I actually use my phone for what it is for... Phone calls and texts.
Yes I use the internet on it and social media, but because YOU cannot get this, does not mean it's "nonsense" so little troll, crawl back into your cave and come back when you have something productive to say. That's the problem with XDA lately, full of idiotic posters and members like yourself.
Amazong battery its doing great for me

And before you said: "moderate to heavy use"
So heavy usage is some calling and texting? In that case: nothing more to add

Got to agree with the first poster that 2 days with moderate to heavy use is easily achievable. Screenshots below are with heavy use.
Gotta say though that you are probably seeing different results because of your individual phones. This is my second G3. The first was a dog which luckily I had replaced. They were like chalk and cheese in terms of battery use.
Just waiting for boot loader unlock then I'll root and start optimizing it a bit. At a rough guess I should be able to improve these stats by about 25%.

I have less than 1/2% usage per hour when nothing is going on (ie no screen time) and I'm on wi-fi. 10% is WAY TOO HIGH. There is definitely something going on if you are losing that much while the phone is idle.
I got my phone from Amazon two weeks ago but that doesn't really tell me if it's part of some early 'bad batch' or not.
Does anYone know how you can tell the date of manufacture?
I'm getting better life with the G WAtch off and also wondering if the knock code consumes battery life.
I'm using the GSam battery monitor but the main bulk of usage is by the android system and not any of the apps.
Any more suggestions very welcome.
Thanks.

Install better battery stats by Chamonix. Run it for a day then have a look at what is running wakelocks. Then search for fixes or solutions to what ever it shows up.

I've installed the setu app but not sure I'm getting much out of it as I'm not rooted and lots of stats just aren't available in the app. I'm a bit loathed to root yet as I'm still undecided about the phone and whether to keep it or send it back as a dodgy one
Do you have any other suggestions for non rooted users?

My battery life on my F460S is much worse than my D850. I think this is because of the phone note being optimized for US networks. I'm waiting for the BL unlock so I can flash a ROM that may fix the issue. My D850 would average 5hrs SOT , but my F460S averages about 3hrs SOT. I'll upload some screens shots a little bit when I get home from classes.
