So I was stuck in a similar mode (recovery download mode) yesterday, it only show Android robot with spinning gear on his back and a scrolling progress bar. I turn it off (Power + Vol Up) and then no matter what I do, just power or power + vol down all just go back to that damn robot.. Fastboot, adb won't work.. It show up on the computer as HTC Android Phone USB Device in the DVD/CD drives
It refuse to get out of that for hours.. I finally give up and I leave it running and walked away.. somehow when I got back (around 2 hours later) it is booted back to normal and asking for new setup. So I thought is working. So after messing up the initial setup, I when and try to factory reset it this morning.. and again it goes back into a similar mode, but this time it have the word Erasing under it. However this time it won't leave the mode even for 3 hours +. Anyone know how to get it out of that mode and maybe interact with Fastboot or Recovery or bootloader or something
When it is working... I could into booloader and stuff. The phone has been modded to play edition, S-off and bootloader unlocked...
However whenever that happen, if the phone is off but plug into a computer, it show up as QHS_USB_BULK. and then usually turn on and get stuck on that robot again... Also if I just keep pushing up an then power it will say formatting and then backup recovery log and then all the spinning gear and progress bar just stop
I don't get this thing. Please help
So I managed somehow to kick it out again (after waiting for a long time).. but wanted to convert the GPE back to original. Was following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2733523 but before I could go back into TWRP to load the new rom, I accidentally hit factory reset and it got stuck in the HTC version of that same screen. This time it have one extra line Backup CW Package.
Again can't get into the bootloader.. just stuck on this boot loop.. god damn..
Here is how it looks like

Hey,
Title is slightly more dramatic than my situation but basically my phone wont do anything more than loading the bootloader. Recovery doesnt do anything anymore (it just sits on the HTC screen) and the Factory Reset loads up the Reset screen for a few seconds then reboots and sits at the HTC screen.
This happened after the battery fell out while I was Restoring a backup from the Recovery menu, it was on the CRC check when the power cut. Any ideas how to get access to the recovery back?
Ironic thing is, T Mobile are meant to be ringing in 30 mins to offer me phone upgrades haha
Thanks,
-----------------EDIT------------------------
I dont know how I fixed it but I did, this may be helpful to others with a similar problem.
I restarted and took the battery out several times (7 or 8 times)
I loaded up fast boot and then clicked on recovery (which took me back to the main bootloader page)
Clicked on Recovery and took a minute or so to load.
Im guessing the fastboot did something (though im not sure what since its not connected to my computer or anything :S
I would love to know why this fixed it (if it did) and why it likely stopped working in the first place.
Did you have a stock recovery or a custom one? Arent you supposed to press volume up+power keys to get into stock restore? That's where the red HTC logo sits. I watched through a 5 minute video the first time I did it just to figure out I had to press that key combo!
Hi guys, let me preface this by saying I am not a total noob so I have tried the usual tricks to get into the damn bootloader.
I rebooted my phone and when it was restarting it goes to the HTC boot logo, after a few minutes of waiting I realised that this situation was not changing anytime soon so held power button and allowed the device to reboot. As it did this I hold down the volume key as normal - vibrate, big white screen with the HTC boot logo again.
I have tried this a few times, always with the same result, the phone does not want to go into the bootloader for some reason I cannot figure.
Now I am looking for either a brute force way to get in or a nifty trick one of you might have found, as my phone is just sat on the HTC boot screen I need to get this dealt with ASAP so swift responses are REALLY appreciated.
thanks
Just to add, I am trying to use adb, so far I can use the reboot-bootloader command and the phone will reboot, flash up the bootloader and then back to the htc boot screen again. I am trying a fast fingers way to get into recovery (hoping I can select it quickly before it decides otherwise)
I think I may have a way in although would still love a bit of guidance.
I can now get to the bootloader, any attempts to get to CWM leads me to see the very first hint of the CWM logo but then it goes straight back into bootloop again at the HTC screen. I can send adb commands but get an error message when I try anything via fastboot or just waiting for device.
Right now I dont really mind if I have to flash each of the boot.img, CWM, rom - any of it from scratch, as long as I can resurrect the thing and most importantly get it done before I fall asleep - I doubt that the screen on constantly is going to do the phone any good
**edit, I can get into fastboot. I tried the fastboot reboot-bootloader command and it worked
Hi everyone. This is the first time ive posted anything on here. I will try to fully describe my problem that i really need help to fix.
My wife got my old Note 2 is rooted and she got my
Dad's old unrooted Note 2. After deciding that she didnt want a rooted phone she decided to use my father's unrooted phone. Due to apps updating and the internal memory getting full she ingored the warning message not really realising the outcome. The phone eventually shut itself down and is stuck on the Samsung logo (boot loop). So i gave her my old rooted phone back because she said that it just died. The same happened to the rooted phone too.
I asked before what she did and i was told nothing it just died. So i had nothing to go on. It wasn't until a week later when I tried to sort the problem out she said the System Memory was getting full and a message came up warning of this. So now I believe the problem is that the on board memory has got full and the phone seized. Much like what happens to a PC when the main hard drive gets full!
When i attempt to boot the phone up the Samsung logo show and stays on, never booting up. This happens with both phones. When i hold the Home key, Power button and Up volume switch. The phone loads the first Part of the boot up and at the moment it goes to the system screen it goes blank for a split second and back to the start of the boot. No matter how many times i try it fails. So I can't Factory reset or erase anything because i can get to it that screen.
So I try something else. I press the Home button, Power button and the Down on the volume to access the Download mode. This works fine. So i used Odin to try to put Rom onto the phone hoping this will solve the problem. Both phones connects to Odin alright and I can set up ready to load a rom onto it, however when i press start on Odmin to do its job everthing starts ok but then it goes red with a Failed error message. This happens when i try this on both phones, I seem to be stuck no knowing what to do. I have tried using all the ports on my laptop (window 7) and that makes no difference. The same happens on both devices.
I think i need to clear the memory somehow but have no idea how to do it when i can only access Download mode. I would be very grateful for any help on this but if all else fail I will try to build up static on a ballon and see if putting the near will wipe the memory, lol. Only joking. Im desperate to sort this out.
Any ideas?
try to flash twrp with Odin and download mode. Then enter recovery, connect it to PC and make some space.
But I really doubt it, apps won't install even when you have 500Mb free, so I think it might be hardware problem
Hello everyone,
Yesterday when I was going to use my tablet I noticed it was off, but minutes before it was on, so I tried pressing the power button and nothing happened, plugged the charger in, nothing, no signs, it seemed bricked, so I tried to power through download mode and it worked, after that I pressed volume down to cancel it to start normally, the first samsung logo showed up (that one that says the model and stuff), but it was there for really long, i left it running and after 5 mins or so it changed to the pulsing blue samsung logo, left it there and about 30 mins later it was back to the 1st samsung logo again. I also tried a soft reset and booting to safe mode, didn't work either.
This tablet has no custom rom installed (I think it is on stock 4.4.2), the only thing different I installed is TWRP and root, years ago, but I cant boot to TWRP through the vol up+home+power, it doesnt work, tbh it never worked since back then, the only way I found to boot to twrp was thru "adb reboot recovery" using adb, which didnt work in download mode, I want to be able to backup some data before flashing it with Odin, so here are my questions:
1- Is there any other command I could try to force it to boot to recovery?
2- Is there any way to backup data via download mode on this device?
Thank you for your attention
Hi everyone, had the phone for few years, one day it died and never booted again. Nothing was flashed at the time, my son was using it and I read that some phones, if they got hot enough playing games, the nand will get erased and the phone is borked.
All I get is the white HTC screen.
If I hold the volume + and - I will get to the screen attached.
If I select download mode, the phone will reboot and a black HTC screen will appear, but then the phone will reboot after 1-2 seconds, back to the white HTC screen.
Same with bootloader mode.
I have downloaded 0PJAIMG_HIMA_UL_N70_SENSE80_ATT_MR_NA_Gen_Unlock_4.30.617.2.zip and copied it to a 32GB sd card, and tries to get it to flash via download mode using the process above, but nothing happens and the phone reboots within 1-2 seconds.
Is there any way I can revive this phone? or just throw it in the trash?
Thanks!

Click to collapse
Don't trash it yet!
Do you have a custom recovery?
If not you can "RAM" boot TWRP. While in the bootloader screen do this:
Code:
./fastboot.exe boot twrp-3.0.2-0-hima.img
Then with MTP enabled you should at least be able to look at your files (assuming not HOT deleted like you mentioned).
There's something called "RUU" we can try next, it's a (HTC) way to bring your phone back to stock. But try to save your files first!
Thanks, I will give it a try.
I don't care about any data on the phone, just trying to make it function again.
I let the battery drain over-night, I'll see if I can do anything with it.
Thanks for your input!
Note it doesn't look like the RUU files are hosted on HTC anymore.
Here's the full filenames I have downloaded and used in the past.
- RUU_HIMA_UL_M60_SENSE70_TMUS_MR_TMOUS_3.39.531.7.exe
- RUU_HIMA_UL_N70_SENSE80_TMUS_MR_TMOUS_4.27.531.6
A quick google should let you find them but a little frustrating to not get it direct from HTC (security risk anyone?).
I was messing with it last night, after I let it completely drain it won't charge anymore. If i connect it to a charger, or to a pc, it will turn on for 1-2 seconds, then turn back off, and do the same again and again.
Thanks for your help but looks like I can't do anything to it at this point. Not sure if the battery can be charges externally.
