Battery life on stock battery and stock rom is almost 3.5 hours of screen time. With G3.G Pro Rom i get about 5 to 5.5 hours of screen time.
Camera is the only gripe in this phone i would say. But this rom that i rold u about g3.g pro rom u can install jisnu's camera mod and the quality really bumps. With good enough lightening images are great! Especially macros.
G3.G Pro rom is hands down, the best rom for G pro! The best part is the developer who is there for everyone and replies to every one. He even makes videos on how to solve problems.
O G Pro is great phone. Its better than S4 in every way other than Camera. If U are on a bit tight budget i would suggest G pro blindly. If u can manage just a little more u can also look for LG G2. Its a great phone as well and very cheap these days as well. It better in every way tha. G Pro. But it does not have Micro Sd card slot. Other tha that its better phone in every way and dont forget the 4K video mod for G2!
Hope i helped

Yeah!
Since G2 is here. I hope that LG will push 4.2 to G Pro soon.
I'm tempted to get the G2 as a second device. I just got my phone but like it too much to get rid of it just yet but the lack of updates is kind of disappointing.
Overall, I think that the G Pro is still a better phone than G2!

The only thing I would really like from the G2 is the OIS on the camera and the double tap to wake.
I hope the awesome devs will be able to port that feature (double tap) across to the OGP from the G2.
(or LG to include it as part of 4.2.2 or 4.3 update. Crossing fingers!!!)

Hmm. I don't like the G2. Like my OGP better but I want 4.2 on it. I also want the camera on the G2 and the new software features. The lack of removable battery and no sd card are deal breakers for me.
I won't buy a phone that I can't change the battery, period.

I think If it will be ported display would not go to sleep ever and battery of G Pro will drain very quick.
I definitely will sell G Pro and buy G2, G Pro is outdated compared to G2, bud it has bigger 5,5" screen, the only one reason to keep G Pro. Everything else is already noncomparable
G pro still exceeds in MMC & removal battery dept.
Comparison :
Screen Same :
Ram : Same.
Processor : Not a huge difference in practical situation - no temptation to change.
Volume key placement : Verrrrrrrrryyyyy Odd , Will wait to see in hands before I can give any words on it.
camera : Improved with OIS & 60 FPS. Niceee.
New themes :------ We will get It.
Touch wake screen : -----Nice but battery eater.
Flip Style window cover: we will get it for sure.
Upgrade 4.2.2: We will get it , May be 6 months later.
Last few software features : Porting can be done easily. Just waiting for someone to post rom Image Now.

in my point of view g pro is still the best ever phone lg made so far...
Google Experience
The pricing and feature set of the OG Pro really is incredible, so much so that it even maintains competitiveness with future phones like the G2. The only reason I haven't replaced my N7000 with one is because of the rumors that there may be a G2-based Nexus 5.
My main reason for switching phones will be to get better dev/AOSP support, and the only reason I don't already have a Nexus phone is Google hasn't made one with a huge screen. The OG Pro is amazing, but the dev support right now is almost nonexistent.
It really is crazy that this phone isn't far more popular.
Well if the FCC news is accurate, other carriers are about to get the G Pro. So maybe then there will be more clientele in terms of a community.
Sent from my LG-E980 using xda app-developers app
That's always the curse of carrier exclusive phones, it limits popularity & therefore limits dev support. But I think we'll start seeing development pick up.
Sent from my LG-E980 using xda app-developers app
LG doesn't even have to release any official update all they have to do is unlock the boot loader for us and we will be pretty much golden. They don't have to do anything else except maybe release some proprietary drivers

Thought about all of that and answer is yes, to all, im just having a hard time deciding if the trade off of the 1080p screen, and water proof ability is worth it. I am a power user and easily run through a full battery and a half with my note 2. Im also itching for something new for some reason. Looking for someone that has some reasons that im not thinking of to kick me off the fence. Lol. Thanks for the response.
Update:ive decided to keep my note 2. Its everything I want and need from a phone. Again minus the 1080p screen and waterproof. But not worth the trade off.

Switching to ART improves performance?

Alright, so I was really unimpressed with the performance of the G3. Laggy and not very smooth. So, I decided to give ART a try and switched. Now everything runs super smoothly, like I would expect from a device I paid 600 € for. Can anyone confirm this?
Running stock ROM, not rooted.

Yeah, sure. However, I didn't get any improvements on the Nexus 4, so I wasn't really optimistic about it. Just wanted to share. I'll check improvements on battery life tomorrow.
I noticed it was a bit smoother . but I found rooting and freezing unused bloatware has made a better improvement however I am not on art at the mo so maybe it will improve even more if I changed it again. I expect this device to be on par with my previous htc one m8 if not better and I still think its just under on performance for the ui I hope it improves as I love everything about this phone its design is fantastic and that's come from a full metal m8

That's a weird "upgrade" the m8 is a fine device.
I'm a apple fan to I buy most flagship devices. Htc one m8 had speaker faults then had screen problems. I gave up with that so quickly but I would say it was mega quick tho to use and the CPU is clocked under the g3 cpu. So I wouldn't say a upgrade

Some of us find the M8 a poor excuse for a flagship device. So many ****ty design choices, the foremost one being the useless speakers that just add device bulk and use up real estate without adding any useful functionality. The killer for me was the placement of the black band with the HTC logo. I was always pressing it expecting it to do something. At least they could have put it on top of the screen where it would not have interfered with the user experience as much.

I thought the design could of been better it just felt to long. Good materials used I thought tho. But saying that I love the plastic on the g3 in my opinion it feels the best built flagship device at the moment. S5 is just awfull I personally think the banding around that is so dam cheap

I applied ART last night and I concur with OP. It a heck lost smoother esp between transitions.
Previously there was an annoying nanosecond delay when switching apps or waiting for my SwiftKey to appear, now it's gone.
Also the response of an app opening is almost instant too.
Give it a try guys... I'm not looking back now

Apart from losing the option to use Xposed, there aren't any downsides. Just remember that when you switch over, it can take 10-20 minutes for all the apps to load at boot. Make sure you have time to do this. You won't have to reset your phone but it will take a while before it's useable.

Question!!!!!!

Hey xda family, i currently have a samsung galaxy s4. Im been very intrigued on the lg g3. I am here to ask all of you for your personal feelings towards the g3. Since it looks like you're currently on T-Mobile, you should see a lot of development for the G3. The bootloader comes factory unlocked for your variant.
I came from a Galaxy S3, and I couldn't be happier. The battery lasts all day for me, screen is bright and beautiful, everything runs fast and smooth. I'm very satisfied.
Does the color difference ever bug you? Going from amoled to the type of screen lg g3 has scares me alittle, i know it has the highest ppi of all phones, im just worried that the sharper colors will look slightly dull with the g3. Im at the point where ive had every galaxy thats come out and the interface is starting to bug me. Samsung hasnt changed anything about it. Im liking the g3's interface, and it seems really smooth with transitioning.

I've had every Galaxy since the S3 and recently switched from the S5 and S5 Active. The screen does take some adjusting as LCD looks a lot different than AMOLED, but it has been an easy adjustment for me. I tend to like the look of an LCD screen better than AMOLED anyway. I would suggest messing around with a display model for about 20-30 minutes (or a friend's if they have one) before making a decision. See how your eyes like and and if you feel it will be an easy transition.

I came from an S4 as well. I was very impressed with the S4 battery life and the overall feel (after I debloated and installed nova launcher). But the G3 blows it out the water. If I'm on WiFi all day I can get 22+ hours off the charger with 6.5+ hours of screen on time (still having about 15% left after all of this). Not being on WiFi I get 16-18 hours off charger with about 5+ hours screen on time. Now I debloated (heavily don't have any of the lg extras that coke with the phone. Not even the launcher) I also use trickster to lower my max cpu and gpu (I don't game on my phone so don't need all that power) I also completely killed carrier iq (this helped battery a lot). Now I saw you mentioned something about the screen colors. It looks like the kernel that comes on here allows for customization of colors but it might be too messy trying to go that route since it only allows for the rgb spectrum of adjustments. If you want bright vivid colors like on an amoled I'd ways for development to kick off and get a kernel similar to the one they had on the optimus G that allowed for gamma and gradient adjustments. But other than that. It's an awesome phone

Thanks for your input. I took my wife to tmobile 2 days ago and she upgraded to the g3. I must say i impressed with some of the features. Since you are rooted and running a debloated version, is it reversible back to stock without leaving any tripped counters of any type? I wanna root my s4 so bad but i know i will trip the knox bootloader when i add custom recovery. Im wondering if the g3 has anything like that? I dont think it does since the bootloader is unlocked.

It is fully reversable. But there is a root for g3 that doesn't trip the counter, it's called purple drake. Also you can used towelroot to root s4 and it will not trip counter or knox. Just go to towelroot.com from your phone (using chrome or built in browser)and download it.

The battery life on Find 7a is definitely better than the G3 because of the 1080P display compare to the QHD display on your G3, but of course it would still depends on your usage. However, in my opinion the camera quality on the Find 7 series is not as good as it advertised.

ColorOS is alright. However, I am not really stock ROM user, so I can't really give you a lot of comments on ColorOS itself. But based on my experience with the latest ColorOS (2.0.8i), it is pretty smooth, but of course not as smooth as other custom ROMs. Same thing with the battery life.
OPPO is improving ColorOS everyday and the Lollipop ColorOS BETA is just around the corner.

how's the on screen time? I was considering the LG G3 coming from a Nexus 4. Also, have you try those third party high capacity batteries?
