[Q] Camera Flash bug in Custom ROMs - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I have tried several ROMs and they all seem to have an issue with the camera. What happens is when you try to take a picture with the flash on, the phone will crash. At first I thought it was just an issue with the ROM itself until I tested it on others, and the same problem occured (Android 4.4.4 ROMs used with cyanogenmod, paranoid android, liquidsmooth, carbon). Am I doing something wrong? or is this something that was an issue already known?

Were you using the preinstalled aosp camera or Google camera?

I only saw that issue when battery was below 30 percent somewhere. Not above that though.

How old is your ROM? I seem to remember there were some camera issues with CM nightlies earlier this year.

I did and experimenting and found that open camera does not have this problem. It was featured on the xda portal a few days ago so it should be easy to find.

[Q] Most Stable Rom?

I've tried almost every ROM on the development page but could not find any ROM that is stable (I.E. GPS not working, or Camera issues, etc.) Is there any ROM that anyone here recommends that is most stable?
Probably Villision 1.0

How about Cyanogenmod 6.1.1? Granted its Froyo but its Stable. Other then that just root the stock rom and get the junk off of it. I did those for a while. Now I'm on Cyanogen Nightly 31 having no issues. I have been lucky being able to fix the GPS issues.
The latest Virtuous is pretty stable for me! and everything works
I've never once had an issue with cyanogenmod.. just flashed rc4. Idk why everyone complains about gps, my works flawlessly.. id say cm6 would be the most stable thou as someone already said. But it is froyo.

So you're saying your phone isn't experiencing the Gmail margin issue that's been present post CM7-RC2?

I think miui is the most stable, to be honest. Those folks in china know their stuff. Haven't had a single damn thing force close on me with that rom. No joke. Battery life is just magical too.

Go for the ROM with the most replies.
Any ROM will have bugs. The older and more popular it is, the more likely, the bugs will have been worked out. Go for older, stable roms instead of newer, unstable ones.

Seems to me the GPS issue on CM7 may be location dependent, since some have the issue, others don't, and flashing various different radios seems to solve the issue for many. Since I travel a lot for work, it gives me less than 100% confidence that the GPS will work when I really need it to.
There is also the persistent video camera landscape/portrait playback bug (but I haven't tried the latest nightlies or RC4). Plus, the camera button is laggy on CM7. So I'm onto Virtuous, but ADW EX as launcher (Sense is sloooow). Virtuous is built off the stock Desire Z ROM, so its very stable. Off the top of my head, the only common bug I know of is wake issues depending on kernel and clocking, but those are easily solved by SetCPU profiles, or using the Standard Virtuous kernel. I haven't tried a great many ROMs, but Virtuous is working well for me so far.
Gingerbread ROMs are all ports from other phones, since a native GB "official" ROM has not been released for the Vision yet. Until that happens, the Froyo builds are going to be less buggy than the GB ones.

[Q] What is the most stable ICS rom currently?

I've been playing around with my girlfriends incredible trying to get a decent 4.0 rom. I just put on AOKP M5 (what I use for my nexus) and it seemed fine until she tried to use her gallery, which glitches and crashes often.
Are there any relatively problem free ICS roms for the incredible now? I was thinking of trying CM9 next but I'd like to know if its stable first so she doesnt have to go through the hassle of setting up her phone again unnecessarily.

does she care about the camcorder or netflix? if not, i would recommend CM9 kang by drk.hd, link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1558923
You can download the app videocam illusions from the play store, and that'll work as a camcorder. Other than that, near 100% stable and bug free, it's only gonna keep getting better from here.

Abduction 2.0a9 was the most stable of the ones I've used. I never had any forced restarts and I believe the gallery works fine. You will need to flash the camera fix that's floating around though.
The only problem with it is battery life, but you can supposedly fix that by using one of the hwa-enabled incredikernel betas.
+ one for CM9.. more active development stable except minus the stock camcorder..
Abduction is OK.. mostly stable but development is dead.. and its used as an advertisement for a useless competing forum in which u have to check along with XDA for updates.... it gets old.
But all the rooms are ASOP.. so they all have the same inherit flaws.... camera and flash usually broken..

Just to respond about the gallery. If the ONLY issue she has is the gallery, use "QuickPic." If there are additional issues then count me as another vote for the unofficial CM9.

[ROM] JellyTime forgets input choice

I apologise in advance if this is in the wrong spot. I'm not able to post in the relevant topics in the Dev section.
I've tried both the AOKP and AOSP version of randomblame's JellyTime (as well as different beta versions of each) and on each version whenever I reboot Swiftkey 3 gets disabled.
This never happened when I was running IceColdSandwich, so I'm pretty sure it's a ROM issue. Is anyone else experiencing this/know of a fix?
Yes, happens to me too. It's a ROM issue. It'll be fixed in the next few betas, not to worry. Meanwhile, if that's holding you back from using JellyBean, you can try the unofficial CM10/AOKP nightlies. As of now, they're more complete than JellyTime and everything works. JellyTime will get there soon too, randomblame is busy with real life stuff now.
Edit: Problem occurring with latest CM10 nightly too (28/08).

Problem with camera on AOSP rom.

Hi, I am using now Sense 5 rom. I had problem with green tint while using camera with flash light ( like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2415999 ). I found fix and now is OK, but I want to use AOSP roms ( Like CM 11, or SlimKat ). This fix is only for Sense 5 roms, On AOSP roms I have the green tint too How to get goot photos on non sense roms? Any ideas? Sorry for my bad English.
Unfortunately I have the same problem in connection with CM 11
A few days ago I bought a used HTC X on ebay.
When I got the unit, I immediately flashed CM11 on it.
After a few shots with the camera, in conjunction with the flash, I've noticed that all the images were yellowish.
At first I thought it was an a hardware issue.
But then I read here and in some other forums that it is probably a kernel issue. So I've tried a stock Sense ROM in conjunction with the fix from above. And with that the pictures were fine. It is therefore definitely a issue kernel / the camera libs.
I I would really like to use a CM Rom and hope that this problem can be fixed.
Or is there maybe already a kernel for CM 11 in which this problem is solved?
Thanks in advance

CM11 Status for Z1c?

Hi, I've been searching for a custom ROM for my Z1c. There are some very good stock based and I am currently using one, but I' like to try a CM one. CM12 has still some imprortant bugs for me. My question is if CM11 has solved every problem and if it works flawlessly. An something else, is there a good camera app for CM11 to take full advantage of Z1c hardware? Thanks!

There are no CM camera apps that even come close to what the stock camera can do
I have been wanting to try a CM build on my Z1c, but I love taking pictures and don't want to loose the amazing camera that's built into stock. I have been following several photography threads, but no one has come up with an app to beat stock.
Unlocking the bootloader breaks a few of the stock functions, but apparently it can be fixed
