Hi everybody,
I'd just like to ask a question about HTC Desire camera flash problem of mine.
Whenever I take pictures in the dark and use flash, my pictures coe out half dark or totally dark.
Has anayone been expiriencing these kind of problems and possibly found a fix for it.
Currently I'm using the latest WWE oficial ROM for my Desire.
I have been experimenting with custom ROMs but I reverted to official ROM in waiting of official 2.3 update.
Please send any ifo on the subject cause there isn't a lot out there on the net.
Thanx.
after updating to official 2.3 my flash and camera are out of sync too, flash goes before taking picture resulting poor pictures when in dark rooms. any idea how to fix this?

I have had the same problem with my wife´s desire and 2.3 update, i did not find any solution so i installed a Froyo RUU again, did root, remove some htc apps and installed Neo´s Kernel.
Now camera and whole Froyo ROM works fine, with very good battery life using set cpu.
But i´d like to know if there is any solution for camera using ginger.

nobody interested?
I am interested!
So, it seems none of the current Gingerbread kernels solve this issue? This is basically what is keeping me in Froyo.
I think my HTC Desire running the Leedroid 3.3.3 ROM might be slightly out of sync to, however i still do seem to get good picture quality?
Finally I found people with same issue as me! I've been looking high and low for sollutions to this issue with no luck, but now at least I found this thread
I've had this issue since the Froyo update if I remember right, updated to official Gingerbread with hopes that it would get solved, and ended up rooting phone and installing Cyanogen 7.1 and nothing... still same problem. Flash goes off, and shutter closes just a little to late and pictures ends up being to dark.
I will keep on testing a couple of roms and see if someone has fixed it, and if so report back here. Doesn't look like it's a common issue though, as there is no info on the net about it.

I've been running Gingerbread since the official update came out and lately the Supernova ROM and just now I realized I never used the Desire to take photos in the dark so I actually never used the flash. That's why you will not find any info about it, we use our smartphones like they are meant to and think crap picture quality is a given

That's probably the main reason it's not fixed. A lot people doesn't even know it's not working as it should and just expect crappy pictures at night.
Anyways, I tried the camera with Supernova (GB) and Oxygen (GB) and still same problem. I'm gonna test a Froyo based one, but I'm sure I also had this problem with stock Froyo.

I've moved back to Leedroid 2.5.0 (Froyo) and the flash works waaaaayy better!
Also, on GB ROMs, I found that audio and video were recorded out of sync unless the videocamera resolution was set to 640x480 (VGA) or lower. On Leedroid 2.5.0, it records fine when set to 800x480 (WVGA) as well.
Hmm, I just installed a GB based ROM (Oxygen) on a friends Desire and the flash works perfectly, so maybe it's not software related? But some of you say it gets fixed going back to Froyo so that's weird... Maybe there are small differences between Desire editions?
Checking out my friends Desire I just realised it's not the flash being out of sync, it's just that my second flash never goes off. I only get the pre-flash and then it takes the picture without the second flash. Very frustrating!
My mistake man, I should have said its GB sense Roms that have the problem. GB aosp roms tend not to.

No idea, but for the forseeable future we have to accept it as an inevitability when using any sense ROM with Android 2.3 or higher. Unfortunately.
Well, for me it also happens with Oxygen 2.3.1 and CM 7.1 so in my case it's not a matter of using Sense. Maybe I have a different hardware problem then... or something broken
Having tried quite a few sense 2.1/3.0 ROMs now, the flash timing in the camera is off.
Although the flash works, the image is captured just as the flash is stopping, so very little, almost no effect of the flash is captured.
I've tried stock hboot and cm7r2 hboot setups, and also flashed camera fix patches for ROMs such as Leedroid 3.3.3 and RevolutioN 1.0 and 1.5 (although the camera fix should be included in 1.5).
I also tried these camera fix patches with insertcoin 1.1.4 just in case, as that rom is perfect in every other way, but sadly no joy.
I've had to revert to oxygen 2.3.1 for a camera with a flash that works as it should, but I really really miss sense 2.1/3.0.
Please let me know if you know of such a rom that doesn't have this camera bug.
Many thanks

I too tried about 8-10 different sense roms and all of them have the camera issue and take a very dark picture, I tested all these in the exact same lighting conditions to be sure.
I also tried Cyanogenmod 7.1 and it seemed to take a bright picture but seemed very noisy..didnt quite compare to the original factory 2.2 rom (which I tested in same conditions after all the rest to rule out a hardware issue and took a very good quality picture).
I then reverted back to a 2.2 Sense Rom (Starburst) which solved the camera issue totally and took a good picture, it is very close to the original without the memory issue (Data2SD).
I am just wondering if anyone has managed to find a Gingerbread sense 2.1/3.0 rom that has a working camera/flash the same as the factory 2.2?
Maybe this information may also help some of the ROM developers who are trying to implement various camera fixes..
Or does anyone know of a fix that exists for this?
I've tried pretty much every gb sense rom since i posted this in October and sadly had the same problem with them all. Also found that when recording videos, the audio and video go out of sync, so I'm now resigned to the fact that you can EITHER have a gb sense rom OR a decent camera, but not both.
Miui camera works really well and have been using that for a while, but the rom seems to get laggy after a few weeks use so I'm now back on the latest version of Oxygen, with ADW launcher and ICS theme and I'm loving the simplicity, the great battery life and the fact that everything just works!!
Have you considered using a non-sense rom with LP sense mod?

Why does the camera in my HTC OneX as blur as I take a picture at 20 cm distance.
My camera was good on the stock rom but it hasnt been very good since i flashed Cyanogenmod.
Aside form being on a stock rom, I dont think there is much you can do about it

That's the difference between aosp and sense roms. The camera needs the sense framework for full support. It's common known that the camera has less performance on aosp/cm based roms.
I have tried several ROMs and they all seem to have an issue with the camera. What happens is when you try to take a picture with the flash on, the phone will crash. At first I thought it was just an issue with the ROM itself until I tested it on others, and the same problem occured (Android 4.4.4 ROMs used with cyanogenmod, paranoid android, liquidsmooth, carbon). Am I doing something wrong? or is this something that was an issue already known?
Were you using the preinstalled aosp camera or Google camera?

I only saw that issue when battery was below 30 percent somewhere. Not above that though.
How old is your ROM? I seem to remember there were some camera issues with CM nightlies earlier this year.
I did and experimenting and found that open camera does not have this problem. It was featured on the xda portal a few days ago so it should be easy to find.

Hi, I've been searching for a custom ROM for my Z1c. There are some very good stock based and I am currently using one, but I' like to try a CM one. CM12 has still some imprortant bugs for me. My question is if CM11 has solved every problem and if it works flawlessly. An something else, is there a good camera app for CM11 to take full advantage of Z1c hardware? Thanks!

There are no CM camera apps that even come close to what the stock camera can do
I have been wanting to try a CM build on my Z1c, but I love taking pictures and don't want to loose the amazing camera that's built into stock. I have been following several photography threads, but no one has come up with an app to beat stock.
Unlocking the bootloader breaks a few of the stock functions, but apparently it can be fixed
