Hi Everyone,
I just got new HTC One M8. CID_044
A great update from my old HTC One SV.
There's a few basic questions I would like to ask.
I've already rooted my phone with HtcDev and Installed TWRP 2.7. But not S-Off. Firewater does not work on mine.
Gives an error saying HTC has Patched the phone.
I would like to know what is my Firmware Version. How can I check that?
My phone is currently using Customer AndroidHD 10.2 Rom.
But it's quite annoying to see it has long reboot/missing bootanimation etc.
I heard that S-Off can solve these issues as I need to flash the latest 2.22 Firmware.
I tried to use the BASE collection to revert back to my Original Rom (My fault for not making a backup) and download the HTC Updates first to try Firewater again.
Hope anyone can help me.
Thanks

If I understand what you are asking you can check your firmware with the command:
adb getvar version-main
Another way to find this, especially on the htc one m8 is in the about settings.
Hope this helps, gl with everything!

If firewater didn't work the First time I'd guess it won't after an Update.
Only way to S-Off if firewater doesn't work ist SunShine S-Off which costs 25$. But you have to be on rooted stock ROM for SunShine to work.
Hit "Thanks" if I was if any help to you.

You don't have to be rooted for sunshine to work. (Did it yesterday from fully stock). I believe you only have to have a stock kernel for it to work. Try installing MaximusHD rom as I've heard its worked for people on that particular rom.

You think that MaximumHD Rom might actually do the trick?
S-Off with Firewater possible?
I'm trying to figure out how to flash my firmware to the WWE One.

Okay
Can I do this.
Flash 2.22.401.3 by editing the Adroind-info.txt to include my CID_044?
Would that make it possible to flash?
Are there any drawbacks to this?

1. You have CID HTC__044 means your current stock software version is 1.54.707.3
2. You don't need S-Off to update to firmware 2.22.707.3
3. Once you update to 2.22.707.3 - you'll solve the long boot time problem, not only on ARHD but on every Sense custom ROM based on 4.4.3
What you need to do now :
1. Restore the 1.54.707.7 backup - download from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51532764&postcount=1
You should find 1.54.707.7 - TWRP Thanks to konanda
2. Flash stock recovery for 1.54.707.7 that I posted here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53999215&postcount=1113
(note : no need to relock bootloader ... leave it as it is
3. Reboot and check for update
4. Install the update after you receive the notification
5. Flash TWRP again - advise that you use a fixed version or you can use the one in my sig.
6. Done ... now you're on 2.22 firmware ... any Sense custom ROM will work flawlessly
(it is NOT necessary to have 2.22.401 firmware, 2.22.707.3 is good enough and it has proper radio for our region)
AFAIK firewater works for CID HTC__044 device that come preloaded with 1.12.707.18 & 1.54.707.5 but not working with preloaded 1.54.707.7 like yours and mine ... the only option is SunShine

MaximusHD should work only for Sunshine S-Off. If Firewater didn't work first time round it probably won't work now.
For me sunshine automatically temp rooted my phone to gain S-off. This has only been possible since the new version so maybe your using an old one? Who knows.

To be honest, it isn't my first RODEO as I've already had DHD, Sensation, and One SV.

Did you unzip and put the ROM TWRP backup in /TWRR/Backups/H*******/ as it belongs there. And in TWRP you then have to tap Restore choose the above downloaded and copied backup and give it a go. Just asking to be sure about what you did exactly.

Assuming you already restore the backup and install the stock recovery, just reboot and do the OTA checking and updating.

Hi,
My boss tried to root his HTC Desire(India, Carrier unlocked) HD using this guide
When i start the phone , its stuck at HTC logo screen with white background (its still same from last 40 min)
Is there any way i can put stock ROM on this device ?
I can confirm that recovery mode is working fine..so i think phone can be brought back to its original state and not bricked. Also i am not aware which was the old version before rooting.
I tried HTC bootloader unlock and here is the error screenshot

Hi guys...thanks for your links....Now i am able to boot the phone..rooted the phone with Ace Hack kit.
I have CWM working gr8....
Now, I wish to install ICS ROM on this. Can i just get this zip and put it in SD card n update the OS ?
here what i got now
Android Version : 2.3.3
Sense Version : 2.1
Baseband version : 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_m
Kernel Version : 2.6.35.10-gd2564fb [email protected]#1
Build Number : 2.37.707.3 CL56018 release-keys
Software Number : 2.37.707.3
You can flash that rom, but if it's for your boss, ask him what he wants. All ICS roms have their bugs. A few of them, the only major problem they have is no working camara.
Before flashing, make a backup of the current rom you have.

Also, I think this is NOT the stock ROM. He says phone was on 2.3.6 before he tried rooting.
Now that phone is up and running (solved the issue with Ace Hack Kit) , its showing 2..3.3 ..checked for update and it says "no update available."
Tried HTCdev.com/bootloader setup but it gives error as shown in OP.
So whats the official Indian HTC ROM for DHD ? Where can i get it ?
The hack kit downgrades to make rooting possible. The point of rooting is to flash other roms.
Regarding where to get tgmhe rom, you may be able to find it on xda.... search for official ruu or something like that.

Yes that's it. Put the zip on SD card and flash it. Before that make a nandroid backup in recovery of the current ROM, just in case you need to come back to it. It'll back up the entire phone and restore it to the current state as it is if required. Then in recovery wipe boot, system, data and cache. Also make sure the .android_secure folder on SD card is deleted.

It depends on the ROM actually. If the ROM contains a wipe script it'll wipe that folder itself. But they usually don't. Using a superwipe script like the one in the ARHD thread will wipe it too. Or in 4ext recovery there's an option called 'Wipe all partitions except sdcard' which deletes that folder too. So I don't normally delete it, but sometimes if it isn't deleted, it's going to still contain all the apps installed to SD card from the previous ROM. It won't affect a new ROM installation because those apps aren't installed on the new ROM, and if they are installed it'll just over write them, but if there are a few apps which you didn't install back in the new ROM then they would be lying in that folder redundantly and waste space.

I posted a link a few posts back. That's the latest official ROM. 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0. You flashed the older version which is 2.3.3 with Sense 2.1.
ICS ROMs have working camera and panorama but not video recording. If your boss wants it then fine, but otherwise stick to the stock 2.3.5 ROM or try CyanogenMod 7.2 RC3 where everything works. HTC will release an ICS update in July-August anyway which will have working camera (and then all the other AOSP/AOKP/Sense 4 ICS ROMs will get it working too).

Hi I have tried to go back to stock to do ota, and now I'm s-on can't get s-off again or get the ota to install or flash, I'm stuck and in need of some.Help please
Not enough info. Did you restore stock recovery? Why can't you install OTA (what error messages, etc.)?
Did you turn it back to S-on after doing S-off? If so, you didn't need to, as s-on is not required for OTA.
What is the current state of the phone, is it bootlooping, etc.?
The error.message from htc says the phone is rooted or tampered with and.cannot perform.update, I tried recovery and.relocking, to see if i can do the ota, same.error, I tried to flash the ota by going into the recovery screen after recovery to stock, where hold volume up and.press power brings up a menu to install from device or sd card, no luck there, says invalid cid
Current state of.the phone is rooted twrp, unlocked, s-on (firewater doesn't.work anymore), Harman karman installed, supercid, phone has boot looped but supersu did a update, so far no more boot loop, kit Kat 4.4.2, software #1.55.6664

Perform a clean install of a TWRP Backup (of course one that fits your CID/MID, which is why @zhiarw asked for it I think) without this mod. After this reinstall stock recovery and try OTA again.

Ok, then find backup corresponding to your FW for this CID without H/K Mod, install using recovery (e.g. TWRP), go back to stock revocery.
After this you should be abled to perform the OTA.

It's quite strait forward:
1) flash stock backup using TWRP
2) flash stock firmware using fastboot commands in bootloader
--> reverted to stock
3) check for OTA in settings menu

Where did you get the version number from?
The best way would be using fastboot commands:

2) fastboot getvar all
Could you please post the result of those commands, without IMEI and serial number, so I can have a look. Latest firmware is 2.22.401.5 for all WWE devices having x.xx.401.xx firmware versions.

Where did you get the version number from?
The best way would be using fastboot commands:
1) adb reboot bootloader
2) fastboot getvar all
Could you please post the result of those commands, without IMEI and serial number, so I can have a look. Latest firmware is 2.22.401.5 for all WWE devices having x.xx.401.xx firmware versions.

Going back to stock ROM using the nand backup and flashing the stock recovery as @Mr Hofs has already recommended, will bring you back to stock.
- install the backup zip using TWRP
- flash stock recovery using fastboot flash recovery nameofrecoveryfile.img using cmd while your One is in bootloader
After this you will be abled to get OTAs again. During the update process the ROM as well as the firmware on the phone will be updated. And you need the updated firmware to run the current ARHD ROMs.
Once you got all the current updates you can go re-flash TWRP and reinstall ARHD.

nand backup means the full nandroid TWRP backup of the stock ROM for you device. It's not only the file you marked in your screenshot! This means that the Backup = stock ROM!
You will find the backup zip in @Mr Hofs thread, as he already wrote:

Just read carefully and see the posts the other members are naming here! Please don't take this personal. We all like to help others, but you won't learn a thing if we keep spoon feeding you the single steps, which btw. can be found in many threads on this forums. It's all about carefully reading the many threads on here to understand what we are trying to tell you, when writing commands and single steps.
As you already flashed a custom recovery and a custom ROM, you should be familiar with backing up and restoring the stock system. This in fact should be the first thing to learn prior to flashing custom recoveries and custom ROMs.

This screen shot is the backup of the original rom that came with it and I was done with CWM quiz show the entire folder, not just the selection poir all files to be part of the backup that was made before the installation of the Android Revolution HD! I wonder how do I put it back? and after I placed as to update the firmware?
When I was with the original rom the A & T I went to look for updates but no updates had said he was already updated! OTA update would you say that? done correctly?
Ok then, got it. If you are still running CWM Recovery you can copy the whole 2014-8-xxxxx-releasekeys folder to your phone. There it hast to be placed inside the clockworkmod/backup folder.
After you have done this you can boot into CWM and restore it. The only thing left after this is the stock recovery to apply OTAs and thus update to the newest firmware again.

I am no longer with CWM! Now I'm TWRP 2.7.0.2 how do I restore the backup I had made with cwm?
You can't restore a CWM backup using TWRP, as the two recoveries are working different regarding this case. Thus you got to download the TWRP Backup from @Mr Hofs thread and apply it using TWRP restore.

And now as I do? I have to download a backup of another person? Help me I appreciate your patience!
That's right but the backup mentioned by us is stock and unchanged, so nothing bad to happen by downloading it.
You could still reflash CWM instead of using TWRP to restore you own backup, if you don't like using someone else nandroid.

@Mr. Hofs gave you the ansower that you'll find the TWRP backup in his thread: here!!
My M9 is currently on 3.5.0 (5.1) I was thinking of getting 4.2.1 (6.0.x) but don't want to mess up.
I've read so many threads about it, but I'm asking you guys.
What do I need to do before I update.

It's s-off. I have installed TWRP, SuperSU Pro 2.49, ViperOne M9 3.5.0.
Update firmware to 3.xx version....
Your recovery is good...
Supersu is good....but will need to be reflashed after upgrade to 4.2.1....
Unless you are on Verizon ....then no 3.xx firmware exists until VZW sends an official OTA and somebody pulls it to share..
Sprint may be waiting too...I'm not sure on that one...g

I'm on the same firmware (completely stock - not rooted)
I could make a nandroid backup for you, but my upload speed is too slow, it would take ages to upload. Unless you only need the stock boot.img or recovery.
There's also an RUU available for your device, but the version is kitkat. I am not sure if you can flash it on an s-on device. But you can give it a try

You can get the right RUU for your device from here
You need to rename it to 0PFHIMG and copy it to your sd-card. then boot into bootloader (volume down + power button) and it should ask you to install the RUU,
RUU will wipe your entire internal storage, and it includes boot, radio, recovery, and etc.
But again, I am not sure if you can flash an RUU if your device is S-ON, (which is a security measure by HTC to prevent certain modifications the device)
Still, it doesn't hurt to give it a try. You have to re-lock your bootloader though.
This is my current setup. S-On but relocked. You mean so?

Okay, you are s-on, but since you are relocked, it may work.
Try moving the ruu to sd card and rename it as I mentioned before. Give it a try and see if it works or not

Once you are rooted, your system partition is modified. The OTA always checks the MD5 sum of the system partition, and if it doesn't match with the stock value, the update will fail.
If you have a nandroid backup of the stock Rom, you can just restore and flash the stock recovery. Otherwise you have to use the RUU.
Just make sure to flash the stock recovery before relocking your boot loader.

I'm glad it all worked out! You don't need root for a nandroid backup, you just need a custom recovery.
Flash the custom recovery from fastboot using the command "fastboot flash recovery xxx.img" (the name of the file)
Then make a nandroid backup.
If you ever want to go back to stock again, just restore the nandroid backup, and then flash the stock recovery.

have you relocked your phone?
I'm s-on, unlocked bootloader
aaa ... I think I understand. must first relocked bootloader, and then flash stock?
upd. so, i relocked bootloader, insert sd card and see same text:
! image update fail !
main version is older!
update fail!
device halted due too large image update fail!
press POWER to reboot
im on lollipop 5.0.2 now
and now I can't log on. only loaded bootloader
so, i unlocked bootloader and returned back into the system. no longer have to advise, today or tomorrow will posting flashable ROM. thanks.
same problem here, did you find a solution?
