Hi,
My boss tried to root his HTC Desire(India, Carrier unlocked) HD using this guide
When i start the phone , its stuck at HTC logo screen with white background (its still same from last 40 min)
Is there any way i can put stock ROM on this device ?
I can confirm that recovery mode is working fine..so i think phone can be brought back to its original state and not bricked. Also i am not aware which was the old version before rooting.
I tried HTC bootloader unlock and here is the error screenshot

Take a look at this thread to get back to the latest stock firmware.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21109612
Instructions should be in the thread, if you need any help get back to me. First connect the phone to PC via USB and run the RUU exe file. The phone should boot up after that. Then you can flash the rooted version of the ROM also included in the thread.

Hi guys...thanks for your links....Now i am able to boot the phone..rooted the phone with Ace Hack kit.
I have CWM working gr8....
Now, I wish to install ICS ROM on this. Can i just get this zip and put it in SD card n update the OS ?
here what i got now
Android Version : 2.3.3
Sense Version : 2.1
Baseband version : 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_m
Kernel Version : 2.6.35.10-gd2564fb [email protected]#1
Build Number : 2.37.707.3 CL56018 release-keys
Software Number : 2.37.707.3
You can flash that rom, but if it's for your boss, ask him what he wants. All ICS roms have their bugs. A few of them, the only major problem they have is no working camara.
Before flashing, make a backup of the current rom you have.

Thanks..will ask him.
Also, I think this is NOT the stock ROM. He says phone was on 2.3.6 before he tried rooting.
Now that phone is up and running (solved the issue with Ace Hack Kit) , its showing 2..3.3 ..checked for update and it says "no update available."
Tried HTCdev.com/bootloader setup but it gives error as shown in OP.
So whats the official Indian HTC ROM for DHD ? Where can i get it ?
The hack kit downgrades to make rooting possible. The point of rooting is to flash other roms.
Regarding where to get tgmhe rom, you may be able to find it on xda.... search for official ruu or something like that.

Yes that's it. Put the zip on SD card and flash it. Before that make a nandroid backup in recovery of the current ROM, just in case you need to come back to it. It'll back up the entire phone and restore it to the current state as it is if required. Then in recovery wipe boot, system, data and cache. Also make sure the .android_secure folder on SD card is deleted.

It depends on the ROM actually. If the ROM contains a wipe script it'll wipe that folder itself. But they usually don't. Using a superwipe script like the one in the ARHD thread will wipe it too. Or in 4ext recovery there's an option called 'Wipe all partitions except sdcard' which deletes that folder too. So I don't normally delete it, but sometimes if it isn't deleted, it's going to still contain all the apps installed to SD card from the previous ROM. It won't affect a new ROM installation because those apps aren't installed on the new ROM, and if they are installed it'll just over write them, but if there are a few apps which you didn't install back in the new ROM then they would be lying in that folder redundantly and waste space.

I posted a link a few posts back. That's the latest official ROM. 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0. You flashed the older version which is 2.3.3 with Sense 2.1.
ICS ROMs have working camera and panorama but not video recording. If your boss wants it then fine, but otherwise stick to the stock 2.3.5 ROM or try CyanogenMod 7.2 RC3 where everything works. HTC will release an ICS update in July-August anyway which will have working camera (and then all the other AOSP/AOKP/Sense 4 ICS ROMs will get it working too).

You may have made a mistake during the installation, or the rom did not install correctly, or anything in the world could have happened.
Give us data, data, data. What recovery do you have (Clockwork Mod, 4 EXT?)? How did you root? What rom did you try and install? G2 or Desire Z?
have a desire z from sunrise from switzerland
installd affinity rom from virtuous
recovery is clockworkmod
i rooted after a cuple tutorials because some workd not out tryed
after this i did it lastly
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...sion#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
Did you make sure to wipe your data and cache in ClockworkMod Recovery before installing Affinity?
i did
wiped everything and installed an other rom
no sucsess
Sounds like you don't really have root.

you didn´t do anything wrong. you have root and eng hboot
...only problem is, that you have the g2 eng hboot and not the desire z (0.84.2000) one, which you need if you want to flash sense 3+ roms.
i used this guide for changing hboot:

Thanks For that!
but they say:
DesireZ users, none of this applies to you unless you flashed the G2 HBOOT at some point, such as when you rooted. While the process has been tested on my own device and several testers, there remains a small amount of risk of bricking your phone. I think it is unlikely but I will not be responsible if it happens; consider yourself warned.

doesnt that mean that this has no impact on my bootloader when im a Desire Z user??
no, that means that in your case (if you really got a desire z and not a g2) you flashed the g2 hboot (0.76.2000) while rooting....
so if you want to run a sense 3+ rom you have to change it again but as they say, you can brick your device doing this... so do it at your own risk

So but the md5 checksum doesnt match with the virtuous tutorial but i think that is irrelevant because the file is not from there.. right?
Yes the md5 sum can't fit... did you actually successfully boot into a non-sense rom inbetween? Before you try to change the hboot, be sure that everything else works... i myself haven't used the second link, so read the thread if it works.

Hi There.. Now i m going to show you how to install any custom rom on your HOX without updating your device bootloader or Hboot version.
Simply download any custom rom of your choice & extract boot.img from its Zip file, put this boot.img in attached folder and then run the (FLASHBOOT.bat) then enter fastboot on your device holding Volume Down+Power. Follow the instructions after installing boot img. Go to recovery wipe all user data & install zip from SD card & enjoy...Remember 1st make nandroid backup of your RUU before doing this..
Also Remember that it will never update your Hboot so you don't need to worry about this Its 100% gurantee..Enjoy::fingers-crossed:
My Device : Htc One X
Rom: Android Revolution HD 18X
Hboot: 1.12
How is this different than the normal way we flash roms?
I don't think that this way can flash jb roms without updating hboot
I see that u wrote that u have arhd 18 with hboot 1.12 but this can't be done because there is nothing special in ur way
It's exactly the same way as any one flash new roms and I read the script and all it can do is flash the boot.img by fastboot flash boot boot.img command which all is using it to flash boot
So where is the special thing that allows us to run jb on older hboots ???????????

LOL CM10 runs originally only on the ICS boots , but with a modified boot.img which can be found in the cm10 thread you can boot it also on the JB hboots ! You clearly haven't done your homework mate ! I have this hboot for weeks already in my dropbox
All the sense based JB roms will ONLY work on JB hboots. The aosp/aokp roms is a whole different story

Yeah but what is the news on this, i know for almost a year that we have to flash a boot.img manually, because we have s-on devices. And tools to flash a boot.img, recovery.img, unlock codes are also out for months already......and the statement that you can do this with any JB rom is also false, try a jB rom with this on a ics hboot and it will def end up bootlooping. And running arhd 18 JB on your ics 1.12 hboot is just a plain lie ! That can't be done.....
My guess it's time to close this thread because you bring absolutely nothing new to the plate !
Thread closed
This thread is closed, because it's.
a) only providing trivial info (for the roms it even works on, that is)
b) has downright WRONG information in it (Sense-Roms are HBoot-sensitive, so you might create a bootloop when using your method)
So, OP, please, next time before you open a thread
1.) Check for which Roms your information is true
2.) Don't create a thread to tell people that it's dark at night

Hi Everyone,
I just got new HTC One M8. CID_044
A great update from my old HTC One SV.
There's a few basic questions I would like to ask.
I've already rooted my phone with HtcDev and Installed TWRP 2.7. But not S-Off. Firewater does not work on mine.
Gives an error saying HTC has Patched the phone.
I would like to know what is my Firmware Version. How can I check that?
My phone is currently using Customer AndroidHD 10.2 Rom.
But it's quite annoying to see it has long reboot/missing bootanimation etc.
I heard that S-Off can solve these issues as I need to flash the latest 2.22 Firmware.
I tried to use the BASE collection to revert back to my Original Rom (My fault for not making a backup) and download the HTC Updates first to try Firewater again.
Hope anyone can help me.
Thanks

If I understand what you are asking you can check your firmware with the command:
adb getvar version-main
Another way to find this, especially on the htc one m8 is in the about settings.
Hope this helps, gl with everything!

If firewater didn't work the First time I'd guess it won't after an Update.
Only way to S-Off if firewater doesn't work ist SunShine S-Off which costs 25$. But you have to be on rooted stock ROM for SunShine to work.

You don't have to be rooted for sunshine to work. (Did it yesterday from fully stock). I believe you only have to have a stock kernel for it to work. Try installing MaximusHD rom as I've heard its worked for people on that particular rom.

Are there any drawbacks to this?

1. You have CID HTC__044 means your current stock software version is 1.54.707.3
2. You don't need S-Off to update to firmware 2.22.707.3
3. Once you update to 2.22.707.3 - you'll solve the long boot time problem, not only on ARHD but on every Sense custom ROM based on 4.4.3
What you need to do now :
1. Restore the 1.54.707.7 backup - download from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51532764&postcount=1
You should find 1.54.707.7 - TWRP Thanks to konanda
2. Flash stock recovery for 1.54.707.7 that I posted here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53999215&postcount=1113
(note : no need to relock bootloader ... leave it as it is
3. Reboot and check for update
4. Install the update after you receive the notification
5. Flash TWRP again - advise that you use a fixed version or you can use the one in my sig.
6. Done ... now you're on 2.22 firmware ... any Sense custom ROM will work flawlessly
(it is NOT necessary to have 2.22.401 firmware, 2.22.707.3 is good enough and it has proper radio for our region)
AFAIK firewater works for CID HTC__044 device that come preloaded with 1.12.707.18 & 1.54.707.5 but not working with preloaded 1.54.707.7 like yours and mine ... the only option is SunShine
titanmmilton said:
Okay
Can I do this.
Flash 2.22.401.3 by editing the Adroind-info.txt to include my CID_044?
Would that make it possible to flash?
Are there any drawbacks to this?

MaximusHD should work only for Sunshine S-Off. If Firewater didn't work first time round it probably won't work now.
For me sunshine automatically temp rooted my phone to gain S-off. This has only been possible since the new version so maybe your using an old one? Who knows.
ckpv5 said:

This is basic mate ... you don't flash the zip. Extract the zip on your PC and put/transfer the folder to your sdcard or externalSD where you see TWRP/BACKUPS/yourdeviceserialno/FOLDER HERE

Hah! I thought so. I was wondering why wouldn't it work.
To be honest, it isn't my first RODEO as I've already had DHD, Sensation, and One SV.
Only thing is, I don't do it too often. So I forget. Haha... Let me give it a try.

Did you unzip and put the ROM TWRP backup in /TWRR/Backups/H*******/ as it belongs there. And in TWRP you then have to tap Restore choose the above downloaded and copied backup and give it a go. Just asking to be sure about what you did exactly.
Hit "Thanks" if I was if any help.

That's stock recovery .. no need to select recovery on bootloader
Assuming you already restore the backup and install the stock recovery, just reboot and do the OTA checking and updating.
To go out from recovery press power + volume up

I'm on the same firmware (completely stock - not rooted)
I could make a nandroid backup for you, but my upload speed is too slow, it would take ages to upload. Unless you only need the stock boot.img or recovery.
There's also an RUU available for your device, but the version is kitkat. I am not sure if you can flash it on an s-on device. But you can give it a try

You can get the right RUU for your device from here
You need to rename it to 0PFHIMG and copy it to your sd-card. then boot into bootloader (volume down + power button) and it should ask you to install the RUU,
RUU will wipe your entire internal storage, and it includes boot, radio, recovery, and etc.
But again, I am not sure if you can flash an RUU if your device is S-ON, (which is a security measure by HTC to prevent certain modifications the device)
Still, it doesn't hurt to give it a try. You have to re-lock your bootloader though.
This is my current setup. S-On but relocked. You mean so?

Try moving the ruu to sd card and rename it as I mentioned before. Give it a try and see if it works or not

Once you are rooted, your system partition is modified. The OTA always checks the MD5 sum of the system partition, and if it doesn't match with the stock value, the update will fail.
If you have a nandroid backup of the stock Rom, you can just restore and flash the stock recovery. Otherwise you have to use the RUU.
Just make sure to flash the stock recovery before relocking your boot loader.

I'm glad it all worked out! You don't need root for a nandroid backup, you just need a custom recovery.
Flash the custom recovery from fastboot using the command "fastboot flash recovery xxx.img" (the name of the file)
Then make a nandroid backup.
If you ever want to go back to stock again, just restore the nandroid backup, and then flash the stock recovery.

Which ruu are you using? It has to match your software version. What error are you getting?
Also what do you mean by "stock recovery update zip"? Sounds like it's not an ruu zip or you're trying to flash one through recovery instead of download mode.

Sorry i mean i have everything back to stock, stock MM firmware, stock recovery and relocked bootloader.
I've tried so many different RUU OTA's but i cant even get mine to upgrade from 1.80.... To 1.9.. as i believe I've to do that before going for a Nougat OTA?

OK so a few things:
- I think I remember reading that if you're trying to flash an ruu zip file in download mode with your bootloader locked, it has to be a signed (official) ruu from HTC. Many of the ruu posted here are not signed I believe. Someone else can confirm this.
-You said you've tried an RUU exe, are you sure it's even the right one for your phone? Do you have a link?
-You haven't posted the errors you're seeing.
If you're fully back to stock including your ROM (you mentioned only fw and recovery), you should be able to take ota without doing any of the above. Does the OTA show up as available on your phone at least? If yes, what error do you get when trying to apply it? Something about your phone being corrupted?
The more info you give on your phone version, the steps you took, which file you tried to use, what error you're getting...the better.

If you have a look at my post #9 in this thread it should help a bit: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3585075
Though I've literally tried every RUU i have found in every format.
As far as i am aware i am back on a stock ROM and everything as if I'd just bought the phone but no OTA is available. I'm from the UK and use the phone on EE (think it can take any sim if that helps).

Okay still don't know what error you're getting. However the following link will take you to the correct download from HTC for and unlocked 10.
http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-10/news/
Once you download the EXE, boot your phone into the bootloader prior to connecting the USB-C cable to the phone, then run the EXE file. I wiped my M8 and had an issue where the phone was not recognized by the computer, until it was in the bootloader, which sounds like it might be the error you're getting.
THIS WILL WIPE EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE!!! Make sure you back everything on the phone up, including the external Micro SD card if you're using it as emulated internal storage.
That should solve most problems, if not, please post the error you get (in detail) here so we can better assist you.

You don't have to use anymore RUU, sometimes you can check settings>informations>Updates, download OTA Update and click install, nothing else
