Changed system folder to sticky - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I went total idiot mode and for some reason changed my system folder to sticky in my root browser, causing android to crash, and now it won't boot, only going into recovery. Is there any way to deal with this ?

Flash a Rom using the flashtool in the Normal mode (instead of CSE) so all apps will remain intact? Worth a try anyhow.

How to wipe clean Galaxy s3 to sell?

OK, so for some personal reasons, I'm forced to sell my Galaxy S3...
I have CWM on it, and its rooted (obviously) running stock touchwiz rom...
Thing is, I cannot just hit the factory reset in settings because it's missing some apps like Samsung services, s-voice, etc.. stuffs that I deleted...
So my question is, How can I 100% Wipe the 16GB memory free of my personal data and perform a clean install of STOCK Telus SGS3 rom on it?
THanks!!!

1) Flash the original unrooted stock ROM from your carrier in Odin
2) Settings > back up and reset > Factory reset. reboot.
3) Turn debug on, and adb shell back in just to double-check that your nukular launch codes aren't there anymore.
And make sure your binary/custom flash counter is at 0.

DO NOT flash the AT&T firmware. Here is the proper firmware for your device http://www.hotfile.com/dl/162304546/3421015/I747MVLALE8_I747MOYBALE8_TLS.zip.html
Once you have downloaded it, unzip it and let me know what files are in there. It should be a .tar file.

It will remove everything and restore your phone back to when you first bought it. Yes you flash it with odin, it will not trip your counter since it's an official package.

One last thing I would do is browse your SD card to see that there's nothing there. I have not tried a factory reset on the SIII, but on the Captivate and probably other phones, factory reset didn't wipe every directory.
See this for the very few directories it did wipe:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152181&highlight=does+factory+reset+wipe+sd+card
I did a few factory resets (but not recently) and only once do I recall having to copy things back onto my internal sd card from the copy on my computer. Every time I did one, I'd backup my internal sd just in case, do the factory reset and finish whatever else I was doing like a new rom, and then see what had to be put back on. But other than that one time, my Titanium backups, pictures, whatever have still been there. I tried out a lot of different roms on the Captivate and even the "full wipe" versions left the internal sd data there.
That one time I did need to copy it back was I think when I tried out the secret code to do a real wipe. Although I can't recall which it was.
Hope I did the right thing,
I flashed STOCK .tar with ODIN, rebooted phone onto stock, mounted to my computer, formatted memory (the 11GB or so), went on phone, did Factory Reset..
Hope its 100% CLEAN Wipped !

Thanks. I'm not rooted so I guess I will have to factory reset. This is really odd. Never had this happen on any of my android devices so it got me stumped.
I rooted and flashed cwm. Clearing dalvik and cache along with change permission didnt fix it. Had to factory reset and was able to side load. Gonna restore my files back via TB and hopefully it wont happen again.

So I just flashed beanstalk

So I just flashed to beanstalk and so far the only error I've encountered is that the chameleon launcher doesn't work. Is this fixable? Is it worth it? I've been using the nova launcher and so far its the one I'm liking the most. Any other opinions? And what settings does everyone use? Or better yet, what are the optimum settings? Thanks in advance guys

I had no idea you didn't have functionality with that launcher. What exactly does it do? FC? Or nothing at all? I'll see what I can find out. PM me with details....
noob no shame!!!!
So this would be my first time flashing a new rom, saw the beanstalk and made me want to try something new. Followed instructions to the tee as per requested from BMP7777. Put rom and gapps on the internal storage. Using twrp wiped data, cache, and dalvik, on to flash the rom. Everything went smooth which is what twrp said; SUCCESFUL! Rebooted the phone and got a kernel crash. Now the phone is in Demigod crash handler. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Did I do something wrong? and yes I rooted and unlocked boot loader all before this* Would greatly appreciate it! THANKS**

You might need to wipe caches and data/ factory reset.
Or wipe caches, factory reset.
Or wipe all 4 items in Advanced part of TWRP. And reinstall your ROM. Sounds like you had a bad flash to start with.

In TWRP, under the Wipe section, there is an Advanced part. Tick all 4, it does not wipe your SD.

Its gotta be a bad download. Try downloading it again, or another ROM.
If you have fastboot and recovery, it should be working.

If you were just stock rooted then not much will change. If your boot loader WAS unlocked, it won't be now. You'll have factory recovery. Then you'll need to do a factory reset to clear everything.

Although I still think it's doing the weird boot thing where the LG logo flashes a couple times before the Sprint boot animation runs.

That's normal

FYI - confirm

I just restored my own Note 4 to factory using this method. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984717 I'm not sure how long this will work by so fare so good. I'm guessing when At&t get OTA this will not work any more.
Happy testing.

From the looks of it this will reflash your device should you do some experimentations that make it unbootable so long as you can get into download mode.

Does it reset all of the flags?
An odin flash can't reset a counter, but Knox won't trip if it's official firmware.. It's only an issue when you get into root/kernel/recovery

I don't think it is if you trip any. I use it triangle away on other devices, but you can't here since we have no root yet.
