I don't know if this issue has been brought up yet or not, but I have an odd bug. When using the 13MP shooter, the picture looks extremely grainy and the blacks are more like grays. The line of trees around our house don't look black, they look an ashy smoke grey. And the grainy-ness is so bad it almost looks distorted at certain points that my son was walking around.
And yet when taking "selfies" the front camera produces crystal clear, beautiful pictures. It seems like it should be the other way around.
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or if I need to return this to TMO and get a replacement?

Any samples pictures to know what exactly you're talking about?
But from what it sounds like, get a replacement, i have no such issues.

My selfie camera looks like crap and is slow inside with low lighting.. grainy and bright. The rear does better, but still bad. Outside both are great. Lighting is huge with this camera.

Here's a sample picture that shows the blacks as the greys. Can't tell much about the grainy/pixelated part from this picture, but it gives you the idea.

When I broke the camera lens cover on my G2, I installed a replacement. After installing the replacement my pictures were like the one posted here.
Upon closer inspection I noticed a plastic removable film on the lens cover. When I took it off the pictures were great..
Check and make sure you don't have a protective plastic film left on your lens cover.

Good suggestion, but there is no plastic film covering the camera. I'm fairly certain if I take it into TMO they will just exchange it. Might just go for that and see if it helps.

Hey so I got this today, And seeing as it works on pretty much all phones I decided to post here, In the first post I will have pictures of it / boxing, and in the second pictures taken with it,
It comes with 2 metal rings which are sticky on the back, these can attach to most phones camera's, The lens will magnetically attach to the ring, it's a strong hold but dont go shaking it around, Mine fell of onto concrete earlier, not much damage done but I tiny chip, Unnoticeable on the camera however so that's good One of the rings has a small indent on the side, this is for the Flash on an iPhone 4 so that the ring doesn't cover it, If anyone wants pics of it on an iphone 4 just ask, I have one on the iPhone and one on my SGSII, Now pics! (Also available are A macro/wide angle lens whcih will fit on the same ring, But fisheye is more fun , Just search ebay for Phone lens)
Many of these pics are self explanatory so there won't be too much text

And that's it for now, I'ma just reserve 2nd post and start to resize some more images If I've helped you out y'aknow.. There's a thanks button *hint*hint*
Thanks for reading
Now for pics with it
I may add more, Or maybe make a thread for people to show off theirs Either way..
(Me, It was early ish, I will try get a better picture of it on)
(A bit blurry)
(If you know what this show is, I'd like to say I don't watch it, It was on and I was too lazy to show, But as you can see it makes TV's look awesome )
And this is it for now, I'd like to mention as well, the image quality is actually very good on all of these but they may not look as good due to a resize from several thousand pixels in width to 500, also they have been re-saved as a jpeg, If there are any you would like full size (For any reason.. lol) PM me or post in this thread, Now due to Milads request I'll take some of the phone with it on.
Thanks for reading

The metal ring has a sticky back, Put that around the camera, that will stay there, but is removable, after that the lens will snap on to it (Lens is magnetic )

Added, Just noticed many of them are Dull, Will go take some flower pictures or skateboard stuff in a while
I will remove these ones tomorow and do it in a better location, but these 2 are taken in the exact same position, No zoom tricks or anything, just one with the lens one without, as you can see, makes a huge difference

That was cool, haha how much the lens?
wow. that looks pretty cool
I received my Photojojo lens set this past Friday and I've been snapping away ever since. I love the wide-angle and fisheye lenses. The macro is sweet but it only works REALLY close to an object. I haven't found a chance to use the telephoto lens just yet.
The metal ring that attaches to the camera body fits just fine in my Qubits snap-on case (though I did mount it slightly off center). The fisheye lens is a little bulky and doesn't exactly fit (centered) with the case on, which you can see in the some of the pics. I've ordered a TPU bumper and I'll remount the magnetic ring on the camera body. That should help get better centered images with the fisheye.
Hope this helps anyone considering the Photojojo lenses.

I actually purchased the macro, wide/fisheye, and telephoto versions from Photojojo (link) back when I had my Droid X. The metal rings didn't fit on my Droid X fantastically, but they worked. The rings, however, fit like they were made for the Galaxy Nexus. The ring fits around the camera, without any overhand onto the back plate. (The previous post with images somewhat demonstrates this fact.)
Photojojo has the kit for about $50. For individual lenses, it's probably cheaper to go to a Direct-from-China place. DealExtreme even has some in blue and red versions.

I've been switching lenses often and the metal ring hasn't budged one bit. It seems to be stuck on there real good.
Interesting! May have to buy a set. You can still remove the battery cover without touching the metal ring?

Go to page 1 near the bottom. The adhesive side of the ring stays on pretty well
With the adhesive side touching the phone, what is the other side? I'd be worried about not having a lens attached and it sticking to my pockets and attracting dirt.

I don't have a steady hand and I forgot to bring my tripod to work so the zoomed in pictures might look blurry. I'm pretty sure I could take a clear picture with the zoom lens if I used a tripod mount. I'm also going to mod my extended battery mod so I can glue on the metal adhesive ring and the black 8xzoom mount so I dont have to use the clear case it came with and don't have to worry about running out of batteries when I take pictures.

The product quality is fine. Its not the greatest but definitely worth the money. The adhesive on the ring is a little weak so i had to use super glue to attach it to my battery cover. The picture quality is the same as if you had no lens on. I just couldnt keep a steady hand. The 8x zoom case feels sturdy but i wouldnt use it as an everyday case. I tried removing the black latch that holds onto the telescope to mod it onto my battery cover, and i broke it.. so ill be ordering a new one.
Got these. Not liking the fisheye that much but macro is simply amazing. Here are some pictures

But just how should I be using the zoom lens?
I just got one of the 8x zoom lenses but not the fisheye. I'm wondering just how I'm supposed to use it--do I leave the camera's built-in zoom alone (i.e., leave it at 1x) and then just twist the adjuster on the zoom lens itself? I'm finding that I can't get a steady enough hand, even with "anti shake" on, to get any kind of decent shot.
i got something very similar to this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/8x-Optical-...883?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item337f6a9a73
takes some modifying, but got it working with my otterbox defender case
Hi all,
I really like my XS flip-cover case made by Rock. However I found this case severely interferes with taking pictures, pictures taken at night at least.
I suppose that is because the case is so thick, the flash light gets "trapped" or whatever and results in really poor night time pictures.

You can clearly see what I'm talking about just by looking at the pictures, one without and one with the case on.
I'd like everyone who uses a case to post a night picture(flash on) with and without the case.
I'm curious to see if this is just with this case or all cases in general interfere with night time(flash on) pictures.
Seems to me like the flash is reflecting off of the case because it's so thick.

I don't know if the first one being blurry is from me shaking or the case I was propped up on my elbow

The blurriness is definitely your hands. Thanks for the pictures.
I'd like some more pics, particularly of the Nilkin flip cover. I think it's safe to say all thin/ultra thin cases don't mess up photo quality.
Oh yeah!
I have both nillkin and rock.
Nillkin has "reflective flash burn" issue. Means... The flash reflects/bounces off the cover and burns/blocks the view of the lens. Creating whitish, foggy image.
So for each flash related image, I had to take off the phone to take snaps.
But with rock I don't have the issue.

Thanks, man. Weird, like you can see, I have that issue with Rock.
Now I don't know what to do, risk it with a Nilkin or go for one of the ultra light cases. But those don't have the screen cover and I like that protection, especially since your face doesn't get in contact with the screen.
case modding to the rescue
I had a similar issue with my phone, and I modded the case by cutting away a larger radius around the flash LED and camera lens using an xacto knife. Not pretty, but it works.
The severity of the problem also goes down a little bit if the lens is clean.

Yeah, I already scalpel-ed my case. Works fine but it's fugly now.
It may not be size but that your case by the light is shiny which reflects light back into the lenses, try putting like white out on it it's got a dull luster and wont reflect as well just as a test

I've been taking a look to the recent reviews and I can appreciate lots of lens flare probably when shooting directly to sun and at night caused by streetlights.
Is a big problem in normal usage? Do you think it can be fixed by software?
It is hard to correct entirely post editing as it washes out information. By adjusting the contrast curve you can get the best of what's there.
Flare control is difficult especially with no lense hood.
It's an optical phenomenon that has to do with the len(s). Having no physical aperture doesn't help either.
Sometimes you can use it for unusual effects.
With some of the high dollar L lens you can shoot into the setting sun or head lights and grab keepers, wide open. Just the lense cost more than this phone though and uses multiple optical elements to do it. You pay top dollar for state of the art flare control.
Do you think adding a skin like dbrand to the camera could alleviate the lens flare?

Not near aggressive enough. It will do next to nothing for flare control.
You could make a crude hood out of a black plastic, paper, etc. It should roughly come out as far as the lense is wide.
Pro hoods are generally "notched" as well for the corner to provide maximum shielding but not cut off the corners.

I posted some snaps and do not see any lense flaring isues at all, obviously I do not take pics directly into sun or bright lights, because that will cause falre with any lens
Do you also have issues with those green dot in pictures with high(er) brightness? It is visible in all my sunset pictures and it totally destroys them. Thought at first that it was caused by my cam-display protection but this seems to be "normal"?!

Those dots are the sun's reflection between optical elements and the sensor... normal.
Adding an aftermarket lense protector can cause it or add the collection
You'll see this in many films, even very expensive optics do this. The color is that of the optical coating used. Post edit it out if you wish.

Lens flare is pretty normal when you point your camera directly into the sun. It can also happen with regular cameras and when the sun is a little of center. You can try to help the situation by providing shade with your hand (thereby simulating a lens hood).
